Recording a Choir I need help !!

I use Logic 8 with a G4. I have laid the tracks that will have choir parts added to them. I intend to lay these choir parts at various churches and may also do some recoding at a studio with large enough rooms. I will take these projects to these various locations via a Mac Book Pro, with a MOTU Traveler. I have not done any large room vocal recording in 20 years.
(1) I am not sure how I will get cue mix to a 12 plus person choir.
Speakers placed correctly should cancel out each other (avoiding the need for tons of headphones)and not bleed into the recoding Mic's.
(2) I was advised to acquire a stereo pair of Mic's to accomplish this task. If that is ultimately correct, which brand/model do you recommend?
ANYONE OF YOU that has experience in this arena mind pitching in your .02¢ please!!

I'd forget about having all of the singers have their own headphone mix. Give one headphone mix to the choir director (or yourself, if you're conducting).
Then, set up a small pair of foldback speakers and wire one of them out of phase. Keep the volume barely audible, just enough to give people some pitch reference, and only if needed! Here's a suggested stage plot:
                                      Tenors      Altos
                        Basses                              Sopranos
                                      O                  O
LEFT speaker |< ) ) ) ) )    conductor/director     ( ( ( ( ( >| RIGHT speaker
                                       (on headphones)
You might also get really good results if you go mono, with two mics set up behind the conductor to pick up room ambience.
Another setup -- which I used recently for just such a situation -- would be four mics, one on each group.
                                         Tenors      Altos
                                             O            O
                        Basses   O-    |              |   -O   Sopranos

                                       (on headphones)

  • PMW CTX format record 6 field 7 - need help mapping it

    We went live in 2007 on ERP6.0 and used the Payment Medium Workbench for our ACH payments.  The person who did the original config has left and I now need assistance to fix an issue.  We were told at go live that our field FPAYH/BKREF should be mapped to our NACHA record 6 field 7 (the Identification Number field).  Recently we discovered that the field has been blank since our go live.  As I look at the ACH US Domestic payment transactions USA config.  I can see the 00, 05, 20, 30, and 40 Events activated.  It appears the Event 30 - Order/transaction record may control the mapping I am needing to correct.
    How do I go about correcting the field (without modifying the SAP code directly?).  We can see in the ABAP code that the field 7 just has a SPACE in it instead of the FPAYH/BKREF field.  Could someone provide the step by step of what I need to do?  Do I need to create a new event 31, make changes there and if so how do I activate the new event??  Or is there a place in config that I should be seeing that I can just change the SPACE to the appropriate field??
    Please advise!!

    Hi Cindy,
    check the user exits in program RFFOEXIT. A technical guy should be able to help you out on this. Exit 100 - 120 is for USA.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cant do anything with print to tape or recording from timeline! Need Help!

    I have been trying to get my mac book pro to print to tape using a firewire and a jvc dv deck. when i go through the process and check to see if it actually did it, all i get is black screen with no sound. Then when i try to record straight from the timeline (like i use to do with Avid) i get the same result. Can someone help me out FCP is suppose to be able to do this but i guess not. All my software is up to date and i dont know why this is happening!

    Is the JVC DV VTR set to the right input for Firewire? In FCP, look under the View and see how the output is set.

  • Recording a Mix CD need help please

    I recorded my mix CD in GB its one big trck how can I cut it town to make different song on one mix CD and how do I export it all to Itunes I can export the whole one trake into itunes but its one long song. Thanks Matt.

    Without an audio editor:
    1. Cut your big track into little pieces, using the apple-T command.
    2. Put each song on a different track (create new tracks by selecting "new basic track" from the track menu, pull the little song sniplets down so each starts on bar no. 1).
    3. Solo track 1, which should contain one song now (soloing means: click the little headphone symbol on the track controls, so you hear only one track).
    4. Move the purple triangle in the "ruler" that is probably sitting where you "big" song ended to the end of the song in track 1.
    5. Choose "export to iTunes".
    6. Repeat this with every track, starting from no. 3.
    Then you probably have several songs with the same name in iTunes - just go ahead and rename them.

  • Using Built-in Audio/Mbox for recording on Garage Band - Need Help!

    So I just found out that Pro Tools is not yet compatible with Leopard, so I'm working in Garage Band. I want to use live guitars and mics, and I'm curious about the inputs.
    Obviously for guitars all I have is 1/4" cables. If I get an 1/8" converter for it, and put it into the headphone jack on my computer, will Garage Band recognize it?
    What other interfaces for 1/4" does anyone suggest? I CANNOT get Mbox to work at all. All I get is 'Error code 28773.' Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks everyone -

  • Need Help for Page Design Technique: Level 0 Record and Level 1 Record

    Folks,
    Hello. I am developing HR system for a client. I design a page for "Position Information" as follows:
    Level 0 record fields:
    Position Number: 01
    Status: Open
    Because many people are in this position, level 1 record is a scroll area containing many rows belong to this Position Number as follows:
    Level 1 record fields:
    Profile ID: 001 effective date: xx/xx/xxxx
    Profile ID: 002 effective date: xx/xx/xxxx
    After save the page into Database, the data in Level 1 record table doesn't match the data in Level 0 record table.
    No way to identify the rows of data in Level 1 record table belong to a specific row of data in Level 0 record table.
    I need help to design the Database, that is 2 tables: many rows in second table belong to one row in first table.
    Can any folks give some idea to design such a Database so that save the Page correctly ?

    Table 2 should have all the key fields from Table 1, followed by atleast one more key of its own.

  • Need help on filtering out one record from a report and open in new page

    Hi I am new and embarrassed to write in the forum asking silly questions. Thing is I am learning all from scratch without help from anyone. I have created a database (have previous knowledge only from Access) and have managed to create a beautiful report from a search filter. This report lines up several records matching what I needed. Now, I want to make the whole report with hyperlinks to a detailed page on each of the records in the report. I have tried using the feature where one can make one column hyperlinked and redirect to a new page, where I am getting all the records again - instead of only getting the record I am clicking on. I have looked and looked in the forums without finding solution and I have tested and tried various methods without luck. I am suspecting that I need some sort of knowledge on how to write a select query with where conditions that can apply to filtering out a record from one report to get another detailed on only one object (i.e. record). :/ Stupid or what?

    Hrefna.
    What you need to look into is two things:
    1) The link you defined, needs to set additional attributes for the target page. In the "Column Link" box, you have set the link to "Page in this Application" and followed by the page number (let's say, Page 10). Below that, you should set an Item to an item on you target page (let's call that P10_PRODUCT_ID). This item should be the primary key of your detail table (on the targe page). You can select this item from the popup list. The Value of the item should be picked from a popup list as well, being the value from the record you clicked on. This should then transfer your selected item to your page. The URL will then have something like P10_PRODUCT_ID:5 at the end.
    2) On the target page, 10, you must change the query slightly, so that it adds a WHERE clause:
    WHERE PRODUCT_ID = :P10_PRODUCT_ID
    Now, you should be set.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need Help With File Matching Records

    I need help with my file matching program.
    Here is how it suppose to work: FileMatch class should contain methods to read oldmast.txt and trans.txt. When a match occurs (i.e., records with the same account number appear in both the master file and the transaction file), add the dollar amount in the transaction record to the current balance in the master record, and write the "newmast.txt" record. (Assume that purchases are indicated by positive amounts in the transaction file and payments by negative amounts.)
    When there is a master record for a particular account, but no corresponding transaction record, merely write the master record to "newmast.txt". When there is a transaction record, but no corresponding master record, print to a log file the message "Unmatched transaction record for account number ..." (fill in the account number from the transaction record). The log file should be a text file named "log.txt".

    Much help is appreciated. Please help.

    From the output, it looks like one problem is just formatting -- apparently you're including a newline in log entries and not using tabs for the newmast output file.
    As to why the numbers are off -- just from glancing over it, it appears that the problem is when you add multiple transaction values. Since account.combine() is so simple, I suspect that you're either adding creating transaction objects incorrectly or not creating them when you should be.
    Create test input data that isolates a single case of this (e.g., just the Mary Smith case), and then running your program in a debugger or adding debugging code to the add/combine method, so you can see what's happening in detail.
    Also I'd recommend reconsidering your design. It's a red flag if a class has a name with "Create" in it. Classes represent bundles of independant state and transformations on that state, not things to do.

  • Need assistance searching records from multiple tables - Please Help!

    Hi, I've been trying to solve this problem for several weeks now, and I have exhausted all of my knowledge and experience.  I need help, and I hope someone here can give me some direction.
    I am using VB 2008, and the CR that comes bundled with VS 2008 Pro.  My database is a SQL Server 2005 CE v3.5 (a *.sdf file).  I am connecting to the database through a dataset, and I am displaying the report in a CrystalReportViewer.
    My dataset consistes of two tables:
    1) tblCustomers which has a primary key "CustID", and contains only customer contact and personal information.
    2) tblDateVisited which has a primary key of "VisitID", but it also has a column titled "CustID". Basically, every time a customer visits the business, details of that visit are recorded in tblDateVisited, and that record is associated with the customer by their CustID.
    Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:  I want to be able to display only Customer records when the customer has visited and that visit matches certain criteria.  Right now, I am trying to match visits from the "tblVisitDate.PlayerType" column.  If the customer has ever had a visit where they matched a particular player type, I want to see those customer records.
    I don't know what I'm doing wrong, though.  I can search a dataset if I am only querying one table and pulling records from that table.  However, whenever I try to add a second table and perform queries on that table to get records from the first table, I can't return any records.
    If it helps, I am trying to use one CrystalReportViewer to display multiple reports (user choice) and here's how I'm loading the report into the viewer:
    Me.tblCustomersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.dsPlayerTypeReports.tblCustomers)
    Me.tblDateVisitedTableAdapter.Fill(Me.dsPlayerTypeReports.tblDateVisited)
    Me.ReportFile.SetDataSource(dsPlayerTypeReports.Tables(1))
    I am suspicious that my problem is in the Tables(1) method.  It confuses me that I can only assign one table as a datasource when I obviously need access to two tables to make this selection work.
    Whatever the case, I'm at the end of my rope with this one.  I'm not prone to giving up, but I'm at a dead end currently.
    Any attempt to assist me with this will be greatly appreciated, successful or not.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Will

    No, I am connected via ADO.NET.  I don't think SQL CE can connect through ODBC (or if it can, I haven't been able to figure out how, yet).  So this isn't a stored procedure.
    When I examine the link, I can only choose an Inner Join or a Left Outer Join.  Right Outer and Full Outer are not available.  Could this be a problem with the dataset I'm using?
    Could you explain what you mean by display all of the records and then choose the selection criteria?

  • Need Help with DVD recorder (HDMI) to record off DVR

    I purchased a philips dvd recorder a few years ago and need  help in setting up to record my DVR program recordings. The philips user manual is not very helpful being I'm trying to set-up with just using HDMI cables.  I have a HDTV (Vizio) with a HDMI port; a DVD recorder with HDMI port and my Verizon set-top box have a HDMI port.  How do i get it all to work and be able to record/copy programs from DVR to my DVD recorder?   Do anyone have suggestions on how to set up wiring.  Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    First keep in mind that DVD is not an HD format, so you will not be able to record HD shows in HD; they will be in letterboxed 4:3.
    The FiOS STB only has one HDMI (out) port. Therefore, you will need to use some other output from the STB to the DVD recorder. Component, or even composite/RCA, because it's not going to record in HD anyway to DVD, will work just fine. Then you want to set your DVD player to whatever input you used to connect from the STB; i.e. mine uses "Input 1" for my composite connection.
    If you turn on your STB and DVD, this will record whatever the STB is outputting to a DVD if you press record on the DVD recorder. This includes all of the program menus and any other on-screen graphics on the STB, and this means you cannot change the channel if you are recording from your STB. You can shut your TV off, but you will not be able to watch another show while recording one to DVD.
    Your DVD player might give you an HDCP message at first when the recording starts if it's getting an HD input, but that should go away after a few seconds, at least for my Panasonic DVD recorder with a composite connection.

  • Need Help in Inserting first ever record

    I need help in inserting my first ever record from an OAF page.

    am.invokeMethod("apply");
    pageContext.forwardImmediately("OA.jsp?page=/abcd/oracle/apps/per/selfservice/xxdemo/webui/CreatePG",
    null,
    OAWebBeanConstants.KEEP_MENU_CONTEXT,
    null,
    null,
    true,
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO);
    Below are 'createRecord' and 'apply' in MasterAMImpl
    public void createRecord(){
    OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)getMasterVO1();
    if (!vo.isPreparedForExecution()) {
    vo.executeQuery();
    Row row = vo.createRow();
    vo.insertRow(row);
    row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
    public void apply() {
    getTransaction().commit();
    When I run the page, it opens and I try to enter some data and press Apply. it does not insert into the table.
    Could anyone help me out.
    My jdeveloper version is 10.1.3.3.0.3

    I am facing the same issue.
    rows get inserted into the tbale, but only whol columns have the data.
    all the attributes are correctly mapped to view instance and view attribute.
    My VO has 1 EO and , i have joined another table to get desctriptions of the field.
    could that be the problem ?
    ex :
    select item , desc
    from t , master
    where t.cola=master.colb
    table t is the custom table I want the data to go in. but only who columns appear after commiting.
    any clues ?

    Hello,
    In SSRS, Report items within a report can be
    kept together on a single page implicitly or explicitly by setting the keep with group or keep together properties.
    In your case, you can try to specify the "KeepTogether" property to True on the Table properties windows.
    If there are other report items  under or above the Table and you want keep all items on the single page, you can try to add a Rectangle and put all items into the Rectangle.

  • I have an old mini running os x 10.4 . im about to upgrade to 10.6 (the highest this dinosaur will upgrade to) but i have a ton of music recording software installed and need to know if it will affect it . please help ? any of it

    i have an old mini running os x 10.4 . i'm about to upgrade to 10.6 but have a ton of music and recording software installed and need to know if it will affect any thing i have installed . does newer garageband  work with older gband files ?please help ??

    Sorry about that, yes, 10.5 and 10.6 on Intel can run Firefox 4.
    Here's the process to roll back:
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    You could install Firefox 3.6 over Firefox 4 (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
    Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
    Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

    This is probably one of the files that is required by the template you are using.
    These files are inside the iWeb app. Control click the iWeb app icon and select "Show package contents".
    You need to dig down through the folders and files to find what you want...
    Contents/Resources/da.lproj/Templates/
    If the file is missing you would need to re install the iWeb app...
