Recording a Computer Screen

I'm trying to make a training video with instruction how to use a new feature on my company's website. So I will need footage of some internet browser windows. Does anyone know how I can record this? Please let me know if you have an answer....

I haven't seen a Mac App Store app for that but you can use QuickTime 10.0 for screen recording.
Check your Applications folder for QuickTime 10.0 as it may already be installed. The icon looks like this.
You may also have QuickTime 7 installed but that's for the player, not for recording.
Launch QuickTime 10. From the menu bar click File / New Screen Recording

I am recording from my computer screen with an elgato game capture card. Why is the video blurry when I import it to Premiere elements?

I am recording my computer screen with an elgato game capture card. When I play the unedited footage on my own computer, it is clear and crisp. When I import the footage into premiere elements, it becomes blurry. It becomes even blurrier when I save the edited video. How do I keep the video clear? How do I fix it?

At this point, if you could tell us the file extension of the file involved, that would give us a start while you are
gathering the rest of the details.
You can easily get some information for us from Properties for your imported video that is blurry in the Editor.
1. Click on Expert to get into the Expert workspace of Premiere Elements 13
2. If you have not already, import your file into the program using Add Media/Files & Folder/Project Assets.
3. Open Project Assets to see a thumbnail for the video that you just imported. Right click that thumbnail,
and select and click on Properties from the menu that opens.
4. Tell us what is listed there is Properties - it should look something like this one which is specific for one of my wmv files.
Your information will be specific to the file that you right clicked in your Project Assets.
From what you have written so far, yours should show
Image Size 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate either 59.94 or 60
Also, please go to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, and tell us what you see for
Editing Mode
Timebase
Frame Size
Pixel Aspect Ratio
even if the fields look grayed out.
Your project settings may be contributing your Edit area previewing problems.
All of the above will keep us moving forward in the troubleshooting.

I am looking for a simple approach to recording my computer screen while I demonstrate how a software works. I've seen this done a lot, especially with final cut pro tutorials.
Preferably the program would allow me to import the video into FCP without the need to render it.

Anyone know how to record a computer screen to DV Camera on a Mac? Must be an easy way...

Off the top of my head...
Method 1.
Point camera at computer screen. Adjust shutter to minimize or eliminate "rolling" (if your camera has this capability.) Press Record.
Method 2.
Use a screen capture utility like SnapzPro in video mode. Save the movie in DV format and output to camera through FCP.

Recording computer screen images to edit in Final Cut Pro?

Hi folks
I'm trying to record exactly the images from my computer screen to then edit in Final Cut Pro. Is this possible? Through the basic ilink cable or do I need specific software?
I have been recommended software called Snapz Pro, which allows recording the screen image, but I have no idea if it can then be edited to my choice in Final Cut Pro. Anyone help? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Snapz Pro works just fine, just bear in mind if you are capturing a screen area larger than video dimensions you will have to do some scaling and rendering (possibly) in FCP if you set Snapz to record a video size frame to DV NTSC/PAL codec it will be ready to use straight off. Snapz will even let you have the frame follow the mouse if you are using a monitor set to a higher res than video and don't need full screen but will be moving around the entire area (trust me this is easier to see in action rather than for me to explain)
Anyway to sum up YES SnapzPro will work for the project you describe

Why AVI?? Are you a switcher?
If you need to capture your screen - Mr. Cert's suggestion is good or iShowU is another or even one I really like: Jing but there you are limited to flash.
Anyway - you might be able to get what you want by combining programs and exports.

Quicktime Record Part of Screen option missing

I'm running Quicktime 10.0.0. The screen recording function seems to be working fine, except for the fact that I cannot record part of the screen, which is actually what I need to do. Specifically, I need to record clips from some youtube videos, but I don't want my whole computer screen to show up in the recording. Just the video footage...
From what I've read, it seems like I should be getting this prompt when I press the record button:
But instead, I keep getting the prompt below, with no option to choose part of the screen. Can anyone please help? I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

QT 10.0 doesn't offer the screen-selection-size option. In 10.0, you can record only the entire screen. I would guess that the instructions you're reading apply to some version of QT beyond 10.0.
You can, however, post-process and crop to a desired size with another application. MPEG Streamclip is good for such crops.

Recording the iPad Screen

Hi,
how is it possible to record the iPad-screen?
I've to make some videos for presentation at a websession, and can't find a App or something else to record the iPad screen.
All the hints in the internet for screenrecording are with a jailbreak. I don't want to jailbreak my iPad.

Everyone I know of that is recording screen activity on an iPad is doing so via a video camera of some sort or using the emulator that's part of the iOS SDK and recording that screen on the development computer. As DJ said, there's no way to record screen activity from within the iPad without hacking.

Record somebody's screen while being AirPlayed to Apple TV

Hi there,
I need to record somebody's screen and their internal mic audio while they are airplaying a presentation to an apple TV running through a Panasonic PTAE2000u projector. I have a liscence of snapz pro, however I preferably don't want to install it on their computer. is it possible for them to airplay to my computer AND to the AppleTV at the same time?

out of the box one can't airplay from anything but ios devices including appletv and airport express
there are some 3th party solutions which maybe maybe! will do what you wish but only heard about them letting you airplay to a computer not let you airplay to a computer airplaying to an appletv it's pretty exsotic

Video of computer screen - extra lines

I recorded a bit of my computer screen from iphone 5s from about a foot away and sometimes the playback had extra faded diagonal / curvey lines that came and went - is there any tips as to how to minimize this effect?

Computer Screen going blank and computer not responding

I have had a problem when in the middle of doing something my computer screen goes blue and all you can do is power it down. Any suggestions??

That didn't work. On trying to install a new driver I got the error the graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware. Is there anything else that can be done to at least prevent the hanging of the computer even if it means less features from Firefox being available?

How to Use My TV screen as a Computer Screen

I have a 24" Intel IMAC, 1 year old. Great computer! I saw in some other posts that this is possible but I didn't quite understand what I need to do. I would like to use my TV screen as a computer screen, so I can watch things like my subscription to MLB.TV or any other video that I can play on my IMAC. I saw in some posts about using an Apple Video Adapter. Please be specific for me, is that what connects from the back of my IMAC? If so which slot? And going out from the computer, what does that connect to? What should I buy? And from there I can use a composite cables to connect to my TV? Yes, I have inputs for those on the TV.

Your TV based on the jacks present (which are the same as ports), sound like quite an antique. Modern TVs have special jacks for computer hookup. Sounds like your TV has none. The best you'd hope to achieve is 720 x 480 resolution which would result in very little room for the windows on your screen, and very large text on your TV. Trying to even get the menubar and dock on the screen will be a challenge since TVs that only offer 720 x 480 resolution don't offer any screen area beyond the screen safe area for the menubar and Dock to be visible. It will just center on the screen's center, cutting off 20% of the exterior four sides. Ideally you'd want a 1080P HD-TV for computer hookup.

I just have just downloaded Mountain lion and I wanted to listen to music on my computer screen with my HDMI cable plug into my back of my screen and I wanted to talk to dictation on my regular standard iPhone headphone and I was wondering if it's all possible change your settings Mac Mini to set it so you can listen to those both like your headphones and use the mic in your headphones and there's no settings that would change in the Mac Mini so do there is a flaw in this system or I am just really really really really dumb.

You computer is probably perfectly repairable, but if you want a new one anyway, it is perfectly possible to transfer the data from the faulty one.
But it would be a mistake to simply put the old HD in the new computer.
These are the steps:
Remove Hard drive from faulty computer. (very easy on Unibody MBPs, do-able but not so easy on older MBPs)
Put it in a cheap enclosure
Connect it the new computer
Boot up new computer.
If the new computer has never been run before the Setup Assistant will ask if you want to import your apps, data, settings etc from either another mac, another HD connected to the Mac or a Time Machine back up.
Obviously chose the second option (another HD connected to this Mac) and follow prompts.
If the new computer has already been run (so Setup Assistant doesn't run when you boot it up), you will need to use Migration Assistant...or run the installer again so that Setup Assistant runs again.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.
