Recording a telephone conversation to your Mac - Anyone know how?

Hey all-
I'm searching for a solution to record telephone calls to my Mac G4. I've come across some devices that seem to work but are overkill for my needs. ( http://www.parliant.com/phonevalet/ and http://www.ovolab.com/phlink/index.php )
I need to record the phone calls of some of my clients. I sometimes use Skype and can record calls there, but for whatever reason, using Skype to call a land line just doesn't work well with some of the people I call, hence the need to use the phone.
I often use the recordings for my own reference, but may use them on podcasts and downloads as well. Basically, the recordings need to be decent, but not perfect.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Chris

Hi Chris,
To record clients telephone conversations I use an Olympus Digital Recorder (there are many different brands available) plugged into a Radio Shack ‘Telephone Recorder Control’ which plugs into the telephone line. The Olympus recorder produces a ‘Windows Media’ file that can be downloaded and played by ‘Quicktime’. From there I run the Windows Media file through ‘Switch’ (freeware from Versiontracker) which creates a .aiff file. I usually burn the .aiff file to a CD using ‘Toast’, which does it own audio conversion. The CD can be played on just about any CD player or you can simply listen to it on iTunes. Hope this helps.

If you mean you accidentally removed the icon for iMovie from the Dock (the array of icons at the bottom of the window), you can add it back easily.
Open the Applications folder (if you open it from the Dock you may then need to click the Open in Finder icon), locate the iMovie program.
Drag the icon for iMovie down to the Dock, somewhere between the icon for Finder and the dashed line toward the right.
Wait for the icons at that spot to move aside, then drop it in.

Agreed! This feature was very useful. If you find out how to turn it on, please let me know.
Apple, there is plenty of room in the window header all the way across on both sides of the word "Inbox". It's important to know many messages are in the Inbox. It provides a progress meter when you're cleaning out mail and striving for inbox zero.

  • 6300 - Recording a telephone conversation

When I record a telephone conversation, how can I mute the keypad tones and the 'bleep' when record starts?
So on the call I goto Options
Go 6 down to record but I need to slience the 'bleep'
Also can I make the time longer?
    TIA

They just want you to buy this programme, where you can remove the beep. But notice, it's still illegal to record without your partner knowing, but even without beep, you could tell him

  • Recording a telephone conversation

I "quite like" the Iphone but I do have a niggle or two. Why is it not possible to record a telephone conversation? I am more than happy for the other party to know the call is being recorded, in the UK it is illegal not to be made aware hence the continuous beeps during the conversation or if you are talking with a business they have to tell you it might be recorded for "training purposes". I have checked this forum and can't find any reference to a working solution, does anyone know of an application that can provide this?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Send me an email for application wish lists. I'll make them free

    Hi,
I am reading your post that those are your specs.
    Is that correct ?
How are they logged in ?
PDF link to the Snow Leopard server info
As you may know you have to set your server to Federate to other servers and may need to invoke the port 7777 for the Proxy65 File Transfer port to allow Server to Server File Transfers.
See this Flash based view of page 17
    To clarify that:
The app can do App to App File Transfers (most Jabber apps use port 1080 for this).
It can be assisted by the Server port if required using the Proxy65 File Transfer item.
However the other end still needs to be logged in to an App rather than  Web Login (Google, Facebook) and be an App that can do File Transfers.

  • HT2008 Does anyone know how to save an ichat from my iphone to my mac laptop?

A dear friend of mine passed away, and I want to save an important ichat of ours to my Mac laptop. (I believe part of the ichat an SMS text and part is an ichat but it shows up as one long text over several months). Does anyone know how to do this? I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4. Thank you very much!

    HI,
So this is a conversation that is on the iPhone that has taken place over a period of time and has involved SMS  and iChat type Messages.
I did this on my phone
    Go to Messages
Go to the conversation you want to "Save"
    Use the Edit top right.
Scroll the Conversation to the top
Tap each line you want to send (somewhere)
Each will get a red tick and the Forward  and Delete option at the bottom become Active.
Once I had several lines ready I chose the Forward Option and sent them to my Apple ID I use in Messages Beta  (i.e I sent is as an iMessage)
The result is a single iMessage with all the lines (selected) justified to the left  (it does not separate you and your Buddy's parts)
    Picture
If your iPhone is in the United States and the Carrier support AIM SMS forwarding you may be able to send it to yourself, in iChat, via that method.
You may have some luck with http://www.apple.com/itunes/inside-itunes/2010/04/how-to-grab-screenshots-on-iph one-ipad-and-ipod-touch.html
I have yet to find a way to email the Messages/Conversation.

Adobe Creative Cloud (Desktop) does not work properly. The application is blocked : it could not be launch neither stopped. I'm on MAC Yosemite OS, does anyone know how to remove it properly or to force its stop. It does not appear in the launched applications.

I received no error message. The application was just trying to find applications unsuccessfully.
I am using MAC OS 10.10.1
I tried to uninstall the application  but it seems that a kind of deamon is still installed thus providing me to reinstall properly. Do you know where are the elements to remove in order to get my machine just like before ?
Otherwise I would have to reinstall everything and this would be a pain.
    Thanks for your help.

  • I have aperture 3.2.4 on my laptop and have the serial number, but just bought a new MAC and I can't get the Ver 3.0 link to work. Anyone know how to move it from my laptop to our new mac?

I have aperture 3.2.4 on my laptop and have the serial number, but just bought a new MAC and I can't get the Ver 3.0 link to work. Anyone know how to move it from my laptop to our new mac?

I am talking about the Ver 3 download link that came with the purchase email.
That link is no longer available. Use "Migration Assistant" to copy your Applications from your old mac to the new Mac, then immediately run software update. Aperture Version 3.2 will not run on your new mac with Mavericks, you will have to Upgrade to version 3.4.5 at least - you can download this update from the Support page: Aperture 3.4.5
Then launch Aperture and enter your registration key and try now too update from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 from the AppStore. The AppStore will change your Aperture registration to an AppStore version, so you will able to reinstall by downloading from the AppSTore in future.
If you want transfer only Aperture and no other applications, do it manually: You will have to copy not only the application but folders from the libraries as well:
    /Applications/Aperture.app
    /Library/Application Support/Aperture/
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/

    As posted previously:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
If installing Leopard the process is similar in some respects.  If you wish to begin anew then after selecting the target disk click on the Options button and select the Erase and Install option then click on the OK button.  To install over an existing system do the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Anyone knows how to set printer to economy mode from your ibook?

I am using a HP 1320 laser printer for both my ibook G4 and a pc. With the pc there is no problem to set the printer to economy mode for toner saving, but I can't find a way to set up the same mode from Mac. Is it because of the version of the printer software? Does anyone know how to do it from your mac?
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

My Canon driver gives me the ability to create presets based on specific types of pictures (high quality color, draft mode, black & white etc.). It sounds like the HP driver is not as generous.
All printer settings for ink, paper handling, etc. occur on the screen appearing when you select "print". If "economy" does not appear, then the PC driver probably (no surprise) gives more options than the related Mac driver.
Have you contacted HP directly? If not, it might be your best tact, at least to offer suggestions for future driver options.
In the 3rd party "driver" world, a favorite is Gutenprint (formerly known as Gimp-Print). This driver package may offer you more print options than HP.

    hey, everyone,
I'm wondering is there anyone knows how to recovery stickies in dashboard on mac 10.7.3
I've been research online, however the information aren't up to date,
    please help me on this,
your time and answer will be really appreciated.
    Kindly regards

If you're just trying to recover the data, you might be able to find it opening this file in TextEdit:
    ~/Library/StickiesDatabase
I don't know if the Dashboard widget uses the same database or not, but its worth a look. You can select and copy any useful text out of that database file if so.
Note: to see the User Library, you need to click on Finder > Go and hold down the 'option' key. You'll then see 'Library' in the menu.
