Recording actions with zoom and screen mode

PS CS6 under Win7 x64Pro
Very long time Photoshop use and one-time programmer. OK with the process of creating actions, but haven't written any PS scripts.
I do lots of retouching of old B&W photographs. My initial setup after opening a new image is always the same:
Create new layer and assign same name each time.
Zoom to actual pixels.
Home key to move to top left.
F key to set view to full screen with menu bar (to stop inadvertent scrolling when near the edge of the window).
and finally select the Healing Brush.
I have tried to create an action to do all the above, but when I try recording one (either using shortcut keys or menus) it only registers the create and name-layer elements and ignores the rest.
How can I automate the whole set?

No some tools can be recorded being selected via using/recording their shortcut key. The "Allow Tool Recording"option will record tool usage. ie record your brush strokes. How much data get recorded seems to be a function of your machine processing power. So actions recorded on a powerful machine would swamp less powerful machines. Also brush stroke relate to document size and zoom level color etc. Some settings are not even captured and documents vary in size. So the feature would only work for documents the same size and when you record the things and setting the option fails to capture in the recording. IMO Adobe wasted time and money developing that feature that is of so little use and value. I install the Scriptlistener Plug-in do not mind that allow tool recording is not an option I have. For I have never use it or even downloaded a useful action that used the allow tool recording feature. I looked at tool recording when Adobe first announced the new feature recorded some actions then categorized the feature as useless.
I don't understand your final Home step what you trying to do.

Recording Flash with iShowU and importing into FCP?

I need to create some motion graphics for a video, though I am not good enough yet with Motion and would like to use Flash. I am wondering if there are any issues with creating my project in Flash, playing it back and recording it with iShowU and just bringing it into my FCP project this way. It seems like it should work fine, just want to see if there might be anything I am overlooking?

I"m not slamming iShowU. It's great, and it's easy to use.
I would just choose graphics built using Motion over graphics built using Flash and then iShowU, the quality will be significantly different. But that's my opinion and depending on your final destination (like a podcast for instance) you may be better off going your direction. With regard to audio though, be aware that iShowU compresses audio using AAC.

Login with password and screen zooms to maximum size

This just started happening. Startup my Quad Core 2.66, with 10.6.8 (all SW updates), login, and screen zooms to maximum zoom with giant cursor in the middle. The only easy way get it back down to normal res is to do command+esc to get to Front Row, and then hit esc.
What the heck is going on?

Really appreciate this. What on Earth was Apple thinking when they enabled this as default and why did this suddenly reoccur? (Vaguely remember this happening a year or so ago).

2. With Application selected, what is the difference between Application Window and Application Region?

Imagine you have a camera and you are taking pictures of your computer screen. You can take a picture of the whole screen or you might zoom in and take a picture of just part of the screen. Panning allows you to move around an application and take pictures of a smaller part of the computer screen.
For example, you open Windows Notepad and you have panning enabled. You move the mouse around and take screen captures. You click four times.
With Panning enabled, you end up with four different areas of Notepad captured. (Four Captivate slides) Similar to the image below.
Each of the slides in Captivate would correspond to the area that was clicked in Notepad.
No panning says to ignore the panning options.
Automatic panning says to follow the mouse automatically.
Manual panning says to allow panning, but only when you (the Captivate author) request it.

Issue with Aperture full screen mode on HD 5870

I have a very strange problem with Aperture, which may be linked to the HD 5870 and it's probably faulty drivers and would be very grateful if somebody with the same hardware could try this out if he/she can replicate this behavior:
I have a brand new 6-core with the 5870 optional card using a dual display setup (ACD 23" and NEC PA241W).
Whenever I enter full screen mode and activate the brushes, the image on the full screen monitor is reduced in size to about 70% of the full screen resolution. This also gets triggered, when I use the HUD display ("H" key) and lock the floating window on the browser display.
It's a bit hard to describe, but anybody with the same or similar setup, please try this:
- enter full screen mode in Aperture by hitting "F"
- press "H" and lock the window using the small slider in the upper right corner
- activate any of the quick brushes, like dodge or burn
Is your image, which is displayed full screen on the main monitor, getting smaller in size or is it starting to flicker a bit, getting darker? If yes, we have a universal bug here.
I could narrow the problem down in a sense, that it does not matter if either screen is hooked up using the DVI or the Mini-Display-Port. It also happens when I switch the main screen over to the other, so it's (fortunately) not a problem of my new NEC display, the ACD shows the same behavior.
My best guess right now is some kind of bug in Aperture combined with a faulty driver of the HD 5870.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.

People have said that Aperture library benefits from, and should not be, on the boot drive, and placing on SSD or alternate drive, maybe RAID 0 in some cases.
64-bit kernel mode helps overcome some of the limitations and obstacles when working with large data sets, which is why I always kept data off the system and placed on RAID 0 which does improve system responsiveness.
If you have already done that and taken steps to optimize your storage layout hard to imagine it is a graphic driver.
And I would limit removing caches to just Aperture's own, though can't hurt to clean out the system's, that is something that SuperDuper will do if you use it, as it doesn't copy those and just skips caches and temp files best rebuilt (but does not touch user caches).
And a touch of Disk Warrior just for good preventative maintenance measure of course.

Your 1200 is fine it will print in B&W using these settings:
in the print driver drop down box, select Color Options and tick the print in Greyscale option
then click in the Presets dropdown and select save as and type in a description such as " Black and White"

Help with volume and screen rotation.

Having trouble with volume and rotation. I have gone through the setting and made changes to lock screen and mute, but now it seems I have to choose between the two. The switch on the side also is not working. Any suggestions?

I would say that that SAPUI5 & Netweaver Gateway CodeJam Antwerp is enough to understand how SAPUI5 Routing is working, to see functionality just copy/paste the code to correct place.

What is the best third party extension or software to create a flip book with zoom and clear text?

When I export a swf from Indesign with Page curl, the text is hard to read (blurry) and there is no zoom feature or navigation bar. Is there a specific software I should download instead of exporting from Indesign.

Xfce4: Problems with Sound and Screen Locking on ASUS G53S

Hello everyone,
I recently installed Arch for the first time, and decided to use xfce4 for my desktop environment. Everything seems to work well after I followed the instructions given in the wiki, except for the sound and screen-locking functionality. Regarding the sound, I made sure that my user account is added to the audio group, and installed the gstreamer1.0-base-plugins and gstreamer1.0-good-plugins packages. The xfce4-mixer applet starts up without any warnings and recognizes the available devices, but I am still not able to hear any sound. The "Lock Screen" applet simply does nothing upon being clicked. Do you have any ideas as to what I should try in order to fix these problems?

To be able to lock the screen you have to install and configure a screen locker or screen saver, e.g. xscreensaver, slock, i3lock, maybe combined with xautolock. When you use a screen locker and not xscreensaver, XFCE might not recognize it. Then create a symlink in /usr/local/bin/xflock4 or use a shellscript if you need to pass parameters.
My configuration: xautolock with i3lock. /usr/local/bin/xflock4 is this executable shellscript:

xautolock is started in the XFCE autostart with this commandline: xautolock -locker 'i3lock -d -i ~/Bilder/arch/arch-linux-lock.png'
PS: If you like i3lock and need user switching capabilities, I can give you a patch where Ctrl-S calls a custom command (gdmflexiserver by default)

Preposition with WAE and Directed Mode

is it possible to configure a Prepostion with WAE in Directed Mode?
We have only Devices with Directed Mode.

Hello Andreas,
There could be quite a few reasons for this I fear. The easiest would be to open a TAC case to investigate a sysreport taken from the edge and core WAE taken after the preposition should have run. Possibly we also need to get captures ;-).
If you want to investigate yourself: you should see the edge doing a DNS request for and then opening a connection to the server. This traffic should hit the core WAE. Check if the edge is indeed retrieving the directory and downloading files...

Disappointment With Fan And Screen _Quality_ On New ThinkPad T430

Happy New Year. I'm typing this as a means to blow off some steam and to warn anyone considering the purchase of a Lenovo product. Yesterday I unboxed a new ThinkPad T430 (2344BMU), my second. A year ago I purchased my first T430 (23445GU) and have been nothing but happy with it since, however, given the chance to upgrade the processor I took advantage. The first thing I noticed when I powered up the new laptop was that the fan sounds like a small turbine when it kicks in, with a distinct whirring sound as it winds up. This was a major surprise as the fan on my first T430 rarely ever caught my attention, and then only when really pushing the CPU. The second thing I noticed, as the two laptops sat side-by-side, was that the screen on the new T430, despite having the same 1600x900 resolution, was noticably less vibrant than the old laptop's screen, as if there's a fine coating of dust on it. Barely a half hour of research later I learned that Lenovo has multiple contracts for fan and screen production, with a distinct difference in quality among the manufacturers, and that it basically comes down to luck regarding screen and fan quality on any given computer sold by Lenovo. Call me picky, but when I spend $1500 on something I expect a certain level of quality. Here Lenovo has failed miserably. Given that my purchase wasn't directly with Lenovo but through a third party, it seems that I've no recourse other than to grind my teeth while using my "awesome" new T430. I'm actually typing this on the old laptop while updating the drivers and software on the new one, and it's taking a real effort to not smash the new laptop against the wall. The fan is that intrusive. Anyway, if even one person reads this and is saved the annoyance of my situation, then I can live with it. My suggestion would be to never order a Lenovo product online, but to instead find a means to purchase a computer that you've already taken for a test drive so that you know you'll be happy with it. Copying a preogram with includes and screens

Hi Experts,
I'm trying to copy a program with all includes and screens in ecc 6.0 version. But I am not able to find the screen for the copied program. I have selected the check box for screens also. What might be the problem?

What's with Aperture full screen mode and Books?

That is, what the heck Apple, why no full screen book layout? I've used Lightroom from its beginning, and I'm quite happy with if for what it does, which of course doesn't include books. I first tried iPhoto, which has really nice full screen book layout, but is crippled by limitations for customization. It's just too restrictive for what I'd like to do. So I downloaded a trial copy of Aperture. I found that it has has all of the customization I need, but the UI is not very good, and the lack of full screen results in lots of wated screen space.
Just venting.
