Recording audio directly from YouTube?

I'm curious here:
Working on a film.  Producer wants to do some sequence tests.  Producer wants to use, for the tests, a particular Vivaldi piece from YouTube.  I can easily buy other versions of that same music from iTunes, but he wants to use THAT version.  This is a test.  The film is well financed and he plans to pay for a license for the music if it works for him, once the film is edited.
I'm trying to think of a way I could 'rip' the audio from the YouTube piece (directly from YouTube) for this test, using Logic perhaps?  I don't want to record it off my speakers.
Is there a way to record something like that internally in the computer ... or feeding it out and back in through a simple M-Audio Fasttrack Pro?  Hate to display obvious ignorance here ... but would love to know if, and how, one might do this?
Ben

Hi Jim,
Most perfect.  What a lovely device.  Thrilled I am.  Works like a dream.  I'll buy a license.
Very much appreciated, thank you,
Ben

  • Assistance with Recording Audio directly from my laptop

I have logic pro and I use a audio interface (M Audio firewire 1814). I have two synths and a mpc hooked up and working well. If I am listening to something off the internet or sounds from my internal soundcard and want to record the audio, what input information do I need to use? I can see activity in my interface 1/2 sw rtn window and hear the audio but can not find out how to record the audio. Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

    Hi
I guess that you could use the built-in audio for "system and general" audio playback, and physically cable the output to the audio interface that Logic is using, but it might be simple to use a utility such as SoundFlower:

  • Is it possible to record audio/ vedio from applet and store it on server

Pls tell me if it is possible to record audio/ vedio from applet and store it on server. I am using JMF. i am able to store audio on the same machine by making a java application but i am not able to understand how to use RTP with it to store it on server from an applet. pls help me i am in urgent need.

If u want to capture audio/video from the client machine these are the pre-requisites
    1. u need to have JMF installed on the client :(
one way out of this is that u bundle the library files along ur applet to the client. I am still to figure out how
    to fo that.
    2. while installation uncheck the option 'copy DLLs to system folder....' and check the option 'Allow capture
    from applets.
    3. The Applets u create must be signed, for accessing the client resources such as hard drive.
You can then capture n save file on the client, open an inout stream out of it, open an outputstream to the server as already described above and start uploading......

  • Is it possible to record data directly from PXI-5112 scope card through PXI bus to SCSI RAID array (connected to PXI-8210)?

    Colleagues,
Is it possible to record data directly from PXI-5112 scope card through PXI bus to SCSI RAID array (connected to PXI-8210)?
Which will be the maximum transfer rate for continuous data recording?
    Thank you,
    Sergey
    Sergey

    Sergey,
The PXI-8210 can connect to any SCSI 2 compliant device. If the RAID controller is SCSI 2 and appears just like a hard drive in the operating system, then you can send data directly to the RAID array. The problem is that the driver for the PXI-5112 does not yet support continuous acquisition. The on-board 16MB or 32MB buffer stores the data until the entire acquisition is completed. Once the acquisition complete, all of the data is transferred from the on-board buffer to the hard drive. After that happens, the NI 5112 is ready for another acquisition.

This is OK because the Conexant sound chip does not support other sources
Ive got a unit with Realtek sound chips and with Conexant sound chip.
The Realtek support the recording from other sources but Conexant doesnt.

  • Recording sound directly from the web?

I have Adobe Soundbooth CS3, and I'm trying to find a way to record a sound directly (on the wire) from a web page. I've been unable to do this, being relegated to the built-in microphone.
One example, is recording the interesting "Audio Preview" on Youtube.
Is there some trick I can do to accomplish this?
    Thanks.

  • Recording sound directly from a DVD into your computer

Can you record sound directly into your computer from a DVD playing on your computer?

Audio Hijack also creates large files, size-wise. This can be a problem if you are working with putting music on audio cds. Google "ripdifferent" for a site that discusses various methods of legally backing up legally purchased media. The gray area here actually has to do with breaking encryption- under US copyright law, users have always been allowed to make a single back-up (Fair Use) of any recorded media they have purchased. It is possible that media companies are, themselves, in violation of copyright law by making it difficult to make said backups by encrypting their media. Also, copying (ripping, recording, etc.) any DVD in any way would seem to be covered by the warning at the start of all DVDs (including soundtracks), which would include Audio Hijack, for instance. This all came about when the digital revolution made it possible to create exact copies. Back in the day, copying an LP to cassette, for instance, was not considered a problem, because you would lose a generation. BTW, ripping music DVDs can be problematic, as they are mastered differently than are "movies," and some Mac ripping programs have difficulty with them. Proceed cautiously and consider legal ramifications, but also consider retaining YOUR legal rights as well.

  • Recording audio directly form sound card

    Hello,
I am new to flex but my first app is a little bit more pro than you would expect form a rookie. I would like to record sound that is currently played on the local computer. I saw some codes that use the microphone, but this is undesired. The client machine may not have a microphone hardware or may play the sound on headphones. I think this must be possible but may be not a common task so that's why I can't find the solution? Can any one help?
PS: I am sorry if this is the wrong forum to post - if it is, please direct me to a proper forum.

  • Can I record audio notes from iphone to cd

Can I record audio notes to cd from my iPhone?

Not direct from the iPhone, but audio notes can be synced with iTunes on your computer. You can burn your iPhone audio notes to a CD from your iTunes library on your computer as with any other music files in your iTunes library.

  • Recording audio ONLY from a DVD into iTunes

Hi, I'm new to macs having just got an iMac G5. So far I love it and it's loads better than any windows based system I've had. I'm wondering if it is possible to record the audio only from some music DVD's I have into iTunes...can anyone help or is this simply not possible?

  • How to record audio out from a portable player

Hi, I have a MacBook Air.  I want to capture the audio out (3.5mm jack) from an old SONY minidisk recorder into the Air.  I tried to plug speakers into the SONY and letting the internal mic capture the speaker sounds, but the quality wasn't crisp.  Can anyone recommend  a direct way (presumably thru USB) that ensures better quality?  Thanks.
BTW, the contents I am capturing are voice journals on mini-disc my grand father had recorded since the mid-90's before he pass recently.

Take a look at the Griffen iMic. I have used it to capture audio from a portable cassette player. I used iTunes to store the tracks.

  • Recording Audio Voice from Software App-All Static

    I am attempting to record an audio software application for disabled persons, called Jaws, and all I get the audio faintly in the background and the rest is loud static. Tried recording from laptop with mic and w/o and same results. Using 5.5.  Any thoughts? :-{

The issue I see with iTalk and similar iPod apps is that the iPod has no line-level input, so you'd have to use one of the earbud/microphone combinations or an external microphone like this one which will be limited as to quality. There are some other options here. But if you want pro quality, and particularly want to tap straight off of a mixing console, a device like the Alesis is going to be necessary, though there may be something less expensive that I can't find.
If a microphone works for you, then iTalk might be fine. There's a freeware version of iTalk, iTalk Lite, you can try, to see if it will do the job. It doesn't have the advanced playback controls and has a limit of 2MB per recording, but it should allow you to test it out. Voxie is another possibility.
    Regards.

  • Recording Audio Music from inside the Mac

If i play a song or audio in my macbook, is there any apllication that can record that same audio im playing on my mac and save it into a new archive?
    Thanks a lot!

Soundflower is a freeware way of patching audio from running app's into another app to record it - several free/shareware recording app's available if you haven't already got one, google 'freeware os x recording'.
    http://www.cycling74.com/products/soundflower
Wiretap Pro or AudioHijack for more elegant but very reasonably priced solutions.
    http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/

I'm sure there are others if you google around, but the above two app's demonstrate what you're looking for.

  • Recording audio in from 2 turntables and a mixer

Does anyone know the most economical and efficient way to record in to a 13" MacBook Pro using a setup with 2 turntables and a mixer? Is it possible to get good sound using the headphone jack as a line in, or do I need a sound card? Can I just use a 3.5mm to rca jack and something like Audacity? Thanks.

The method you described should work just fine if you take the output from the mixer and route it to the line in on the Mac. You can even use Garageband if you want to.

  • Built-In Microphone records audio only from the Left speaker

I'm not sure if my settings are correctly set up, but whenever I record through Logic, it only picks up sound from the Left Speaker of my MacBook Pro.
When I try to make noise through the Right Speaker, Logic's sound levels do not respond.
Any ideas why this is happening? I don't plan on using the built-in Microphone for much longer, but it's all I currently have at this point. Thanks!

    James,
Again, thanks for the response! I guess what Tokuda said about the mono Mic in the left speaker settles that. I was just confused, because when I used Sound Forge on my Windows partition, it would always pick up sound from both speakers (I think?). I could be wrong on that one too though.
As for goals, my long term goal is to produce Club/Dance music & some serious Vocal work with Logic. Only thing is I have no basis or ground knowledge of music. For instance, I don't even know how to play the piano, or read music for that matter. Sad, I know...but it is a work in progress. And the only Microphone I use is built-in and my voice overs always sound so bland & one-dimensional. No dynamics or great effects to them, like Tpayne, BSpears, or Madonna vocals. Not sure where I should start, maybe take some basic music theory courses at the local community college, grab an internship at a radio station, & then further my education @ SAE, or Berklee College of Music to learn more advanced editing techniques.
In the meantime, I have been producing Cheer, Dance, & Aerobic music for the past 5 years. It first started as a hobby, and then transformed into its own little business, and now I do hundreds of mixes for Cheerleaders & All Star programs all over the place! It came so natural to me though...Laying beats over songs, then adding my own creative touch to make it my own. I've been using Acid, which is GREAT for what I do, but isn't going to get me much further than that. That being said, I finally made the decision to move up to Logic, not only to broaden my musical horizons, but to hopefully continue making Cheer music with it as well.
Since Acid is PC only, I still do work on my desktop PC and have been slowly weaning myself from it. The Logic learning curve is extremely difficult (for me at least) and it's taken a lot of getting used to some things like NOT being able to cross-fade my loops. Very, very annoying. Nonetheless, I know I have to make the switch to Mac if I'm really serious about making it anywhere in this biz.
Anyway, I can totally email you one of my mixes (if you're interested). I would post a link here, but I gather most of the musicians on here wouldn't really appreciate it as much as I do, haha. Oh and by the way, thanks for taking the time to listen & help me out here. It means a lot man!
