Recording Audio (vox, acoustic guitar) with Click Track Only in Headphones

Is this possible? I have an M-Audio 410 with one mic recording both my vox and acoustic guitar. I also have headphones connected to the 410. Can I set it up so I hear the click thru the headphones, but not thru the monitor so it isn't recorded along with my vox ang guitar? Something needs to be turned on, off--I'm a little (more than a little) slow.
Thanx, everyone

Well, I turn them back on to give a quick listen here and there, but usually not until I am ready to begin mixing. That's what I have them for in the first place. I do leave them on if I am not using a mic. I record bass direct, and I just got a Vox ToneLab, so I won't need to mic my amp any longer. Drums are midi, so I guess only vocals & acoustic guitar will need the monitors turned off from now own. Even leaving them on, I still record using headphones so I can hear everything clearly.

  • Trouble recording audio in Cubase SX with X-Fi Platinum

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to record audio in Cubase SX with my X-Fi Platinum. I have:
    - Selected Creative ASIO for the ASIO driver
    - Ensured that the VST inputs are set to the correct X-Fi input
    - Ensured that the VST outputs are set to the X-Fi Front Left and Right outputs
    - Switched on direct monitoring in the mixer, and I can hear the audio input before trying to record anything.
    - Enabled recording for the audio track in my project
    - There are no inserts, sends or EQ specified on the audio track - it's all clean.
My problem is this: When I hit the master record, the recording bar on the audio track doesn't move. On the occasions where the recording bar does move (I'm not sure how I managed to get it moving), no sound is being recorded - even though I can hear via direct monitoring the sound that I am trying to record.
The other symptom that I am getting is that the VU meter for the audio track in the mixer is not displaying or moving prior to recording or during recording - even though I can still hear the audio via the direct monitoring.
I'm new to Cubase SX, and I'm probably missing something simple. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

You brought up quite old thread so maybe no vista yet at that time.
Sometimes, setting latency too low may prevent recording/playing ... or setting the monitoring
false (there are hardware monitoring and software monitoring which maybe can't be used at once).
SX has also a settings option named as "Lower Latency" which sometimes is best to leave disabled.

  • In iTunes, is there any way to play one song at at time and have the song stop at its end.  I want to play guitar with a track and have that track stop playing rather than going to the next song.

I want to play a single song in iTunes on my ipad and have the track stop when the song finishes, rather than itunes playing the next track.  I play guitar with the track and need iTunes to stop at the end of the song.
I have worked around this issue by creating a separate play list for each song, then inserting the song into the play list.  I would like to find a more straight forward solution that would eliminate this extra step.  On my PC, I use QuickTime to bring up an individual song and then can play one track at a time.
    Thanks!

On the IPod if the shuffle icon is colored blue it is ON, if it is colored white it is OFF. This control is global, if it is ON any album or list will be shuffled.

I've been wondering that can i record the acoustic sound of my guitar with the built-in micro in my Powerbook G4?
Because my guitar doesn't have the out-put port for the cable that's why i want to use the Mic included in the PWB or the one built-in in my webcam(with USP port)....
Could anybody tell me how to set it up please? Thanks for your helps.

By Default your PowerBooks should be ready to record with the PB's Built-Mic. just create a New Basic Track and hit record.

  • Recording acoustic guitar with microphone

My sound levels are very low when I try to record a guitar - Real Instrument/Acoustic Guitar/Natural settings. I am using a Shure SM58 via an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. My line levels seem very low. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

You probably need to set the gain on the Fast Track quite high and get the mic fairly close, like less than a foot.
I usually like to use two mics for acoustic; one dynamic, like the SM58, and one condenser. Or a condenser and a line-in (I like the Dean Markley ProMag Grand soundhole pickup.)

  • Recording an acoustic guitar on basic track and am getting effects.  How do I stop them?

I just changed to a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 and am having problems getting it set up.  I download the drivers and software but when I go to open them up, it is blank.  The other problem is that I just tried to record an acoustic guitar and I get little volume all the way max and I get effects, eg, flange, reverb and echo on the track.  Help.  Thanks.  Tom
I am running it on a MAc Pro i7 OSX 10.9

I have downloaded the add-on and the popup blocker was already in place. It is too soon to tell if it works but I will let you know in a few days.
One additional piece of information...I am getting a pop-up (despite the blocker) that asks if I want to download a JScript File from http://tag.admeld.com. I have not asked for this and I have responded to "cancel" but I suspect that this is where the auditory pop-up is coming from. The file is "meld.js"
I believe that this happened once before and despite clicking "cancel" an auditory ad ran while I was listening to something else.
If this is coming from one source, I'd like to block it....Suggestions are welcome.
A later comment... I have not gotten any auditory popups in the last few hours, but I keep getting the above "meld.js" popup. I assume that this is a Java Script program but I have not requested it and would like to know what it is and why it is coming up over and over again.
    Please help!
A still later comment - no change despite disabling popups and adding the add-on - I am still getting auditory popups and getting something asking me to download "meld.js"
Is there anyone out there who can help?

  • Does recording audio require at least one video track?

I needed to record audio while shooting a video and didn't have my handy Zoom with me.  I thought to instead set up Premiere to capture the audio.
I created a new, blank project, added a mono audio track, plugged a mic into my audio interface, enabled the mono track for recording in the audio track mixer, chose the input channel, clicked the record button, saw the meters bouncing - all well, right?
Well when I hit "play" - nothing.  That is, not until I dragged some black video into the timeline.  Then - it worked.
This is not how the workflow is documented in Adobe's "Help and Tutorials" manual.
It should be updated at some point - or this is a bug.

    hey tom
this can be done with or without scripts.
you say that you have a menu alreay with the different audio options, correct?
if you do, you would lay all your audio tracks onto its appropriate stream (A1, A2, A3).
then you go to your menu and set up the menu like you would any (create the menu name, drag a selector box to correspond to the highlighted button, etc.)
one this is accomplished, click on the button associated with audio track 1 (A1) and look at your inspector. click on the advance tab and you will see options for setting the streams angles, audio (this is the one you want) and subtitle. click on the dropdown box, and select A1.
then click on the on the menu button associated with A2 and look at your inspector again under the advance tab and you will see it reset itself, now again click on the doprdown menu and now associate that stream with A2.
do the same for the A3.
once you are done, verify the setting with clicking on the first menu button associated with A1 and you will see under the inspectors advance button that Audio stream 1 will be saved. your golden form there!
scripting the bad boy is a little more involved. there is an an article out there that goes through it with great detail.. do a forum search for "scripting audio stream" and you will find it.

  • Urgent: Flash Player 10, record audio - save locally on button click?

    Hi there,
I am wondering if Flash Player 10 will allow a Flex app or a Flash app the ability for the user, inside of a web-page, to record some audio with their microphone then click a button to activate the OS's Save File dialog? The user would then just save the audio on their local filesystem.
I was thinking this had to be done with a Java app, but I am seeing that v10 allows saving if the user initiates the action (button click)... i cannot a definitive answer or example that shows recording audio without it going to FMS or Red5.  The requirements of this app prohibit a media server so I am not sure if this can be done with Flash Player 10?
Is this possible?  If so are there any examples of this flow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi, everyone,
If we can record audio from Flash Player 10 inside of a webpage and save audio files onto our local places by the use of mic applications, it will be very convenient. In fact, we can turn to use other available programs to record audio from flash and save locally by clicking buttons. It is possible to use recorders to record audio on flash or any other media players.
I don't know whether my guess is what you are thinking or not, perhaps you need to search for more information.
    Regards.

  • Nightmare recording audio into premiere pro with Mbox 2 Mini  Mac OSX

I've adjusted buffer settings, power settings, and so on, not to mention watched two Premiere Pro tutorials on recording audio directly into Premiere that barely still apply, but adobe finds relevant enough to suggest.  I am using a Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini and an ElectroVoice RE20 Microphone.  If I'm lucky I get a clean track of audio for about 45 seconds before the audio begins to pop and crack.  In reading on Avid's forums this is due to a buffer issue, but I've since changed my buffer to every setting and still keep wasting time.  Does anyone have any experience recording directly into premiere pro cc 2014?, Anyone with an Mbox 2 Mini?, Do you have an audio box that seems to work perfectly with CC 2014?  If you have any insight on any of those questions, please comment below.
I've tried everything I could find and read about online, but at this point I have to give up before I waste anymore time.  I've switched usb ports, maybe is a USB 3.0 with 2.0 device?, I switched power locations, plugs, protectors, and so on, even USB cables.... blahhh
    Specs:
    Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
2012 Macbook Pro (Non-Retina), 16GB of Ram, dual internal SSD, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    OSX 10.8.5
Mbox 2 Mini, Firmware 1.4, latest drivers.

    Hi AbzZilla,
I was looking up this post and found you've a similar problem...
I was having the non-responsiveness with the above configurations in 'LE 7.4 & 7.4.2c (Mac-only), but I have now installed Pro Tools LE 8.
Unfortunately I still can't get the MBOX2 to work with the Mac mini 2, but the MBOX2 USB status alights now [i.e. it's very bright and now works] on the MBP 17" ...all with Mac OS X 10.5.6! In all previous Pro Tools versions it confirms support for Pro Tools and the MBox, with the Mac mini:
    http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/osx/os.cfm
So I too am 'stumped' as this is the brand new computer that I wanted the software to be operable on. I've swapped the USB cables (to check if it was a failed cable) and it looks like either a firmware clash or a USB-port power issue? I've also tried non-powered USB hubs... as it could be the later issue? So when I find my powered USB hub I'll let you know, ...if there's a change?
Until then... I Iook forward to further posts in this thread!
    Thanks for kicking-off the discussion.

  • Delay when recording audio compared to my midi click

Im using my Powerbook G4 1.5G and a Presonus Firebox to record audio with a midi click. I´m using the firebox mixer for monitoring and have switched off logic software monitoring. I have no latency when listening while recording, but when listening to the recorded file, it´s delayed compared to the pre-recorded click loop.
This is what I don´t understand. Why is the recorded file delayed? I have the delaycompensation off. It does not matter if I record on the internal disk or a Lacie external firewire disk.
I have a G4powermac and a motu 2408 mk3 with no problems like this what so ever.
Should i do a midi signal output correction? Is this really necessary on a setup today? Why do I not have the same problem on my G4 Powermac?
I hope somebody have an idea.

there is always some latency when the signal goes thru the computer.
you can do a test and determine how much delay you are seeing and then
    go to:
    audio/audio hardware & drivers/drivers
and in the recording delay box put in the amount to be compensated for.
With my setup i fugured out that I had 57 ms of delay.

  • PVC2300 recorded audio is not sync with video

    Hi all,
I have a big big problem with my new PVC2300 network camera:
when I recording (from browser interface) the audio of the .avi file is not sync with video... in details in a record of 12-13 minutes the audio ends 8-10 seconds before the video... and I suppose that more lenght is the recorded file and more lenght is the desync between audio and video.
I use MPEG4 video stream at 640x480 30 fps and audio G.711 A-Law in mode "simplex - listen only".
For my usage this is a very big isssue... I hope there is a way to fix it.
    Thanks in advice
    Robert

I tried for 2 days for all possible configurations, editing: frame rate, quality, resolution. and type of stream (MPEG4 or MJPEG).
The only case that the recorded audio and video is sync is setting the SMB protocol to autorecord to a NAS.
But this mode have a lot of problems (.asf  format, large file size and continuos recording without the ability to start and stop the recordings).
I think that the desync is a bug (a very big bug) of yours activex control  that makes the recording.
I have find more or less a workaround using the Cisco Client... the program get an error on start (after unintall and install few times, and a lot of test, I understand that the only way to use the Cisco Client is running it as administrator.
Ok finnaly the cisco program works, but using it I found another problems:
after recorded, I tried to export a part of recording for testing the audio-video sync... the program gives me 2 format: AVI (without the ability to choose any other options) and ASF (with quality options). I tried first AVI format... the result sucks: bad video quality, 1,8 GB every 20 minutes and audio desync... no comment! ...then I tried the second export format: ASF...thats OK, the result is good... audio finally is syncronized with video.
My system is Windows Vista SP2 (32bit) and Internet Explorer 8... I tried also from an other pc with Windows 7... same problems recording from browser interface.  I have installed on my system the lastest video codecs (for example: divx etc.).
For my usage I can use the Cisco Client but my ideal usage will be recording from browser.
I think these problems are very serious for a product as is this camera.
I hope there is a way to resolve they... maybe with a future firmware update or installing an other software.
    Thanks
    Robert

  • M-Audio Premiun Acoustic Guitar

    Hi
I have a G4 Powerbook running Logic Express 7. Does anybody know whether it is possible to use M-Audio's Premiun Acoustic guitar-professional virtual six-string guitar on this set-up.
    Thanks

In the absence of any other advice I'd guess you should be able to use it - apparently it comes in EXS24 format amongst others (not an AU instrument its own rite).

  • Click sound only in headphones?

Okay, I've looked for information about this on this and other forums and have found nothing addressing it. My brother has had a 4G iPod for a while now, and under Settings -> Clicker, it enables him to select from four options: Speakers, Headphones, Both, or None. My other brother just got a Nano and it gives him the same options. I have a 30 GB iPod Video and I would love to be able to have the click only play through the headphones. However, I only have two options for Clicker: On and Off. When I have it On, it appears to play through the speakers and the headphones.
So my question is twofold: 1. Why on earth would Apple take away the very handy ability to choose where you want the clicker to be heard? and 2. Is there anything I can do to get the clicker to only play through my headphones?
Any answer / speculation that anybody can give me would be very much appreciated, as I am baffled by this.

    Hi @thehannahbanana,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are getting sound from your speakers even though your headphones are plugged in.  Firstly, please verify what the full product/model number is.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
It is possible that a driver needs to be updated, which the proper model number I can direct you to the correct page to find the drivers for your notebook.
Even though you are getting sound this may help as it covers many of the places you will often check with a sound problem. No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8)
If that does not help fix it, then please post the product number, and then I can look for more specific pages for you.

  • Recording acoustic guitar with irig

I have a little annoying problem:
I have irig, I connect my guitar to the ipad. If I choose the guitar amp track, everything works fine.
However when I try to record anything (including the clean guitar) from the voice recorder, the resulting track also includes the output from other tracks. So for example if I turn on the the metronome and record than I can hear clicking in the track, which obviously should not be the case. Like I mentioned if I change the track to a guitar amp, then everything is OK and there is no feedback. Also I have everything on the earphones, so there is no way anything is leaking from the speakers to the guitar mic.
I tried looking for some settings but I haven't found anything. This is annoying though, since I cant even record the clean vocal without heaving other sounds in the background.
Anyone has similar problems? I'm using the first generation ipad.

GarageBand (1) only supports a single track at a time for recording. You could do what you want in GB2, up to 8 audio tracks (and 1 MIDI track) at the same time.
GB2 really is a great upgrade from version 1, but if you're determined to stick with version 1 you could record the 1 stereo track, then copy the region to a second track, set the pan on each and the EQ on each. This would be the easiest method, you could get more complex, but this should work well enough.
