newbie here fnally getting into doin some vocals but i am puzzled..i get audio and can record it but..when i first try to a box comes on screen tells me its about to record and that i got 15 minutes of audi i can record.......gawds i got a 160 gig HD...new g5 2.0 with 2.5 ram...what does this mean?...is this telling me for this song only or for any more audio i wish to record in others songs too..minus what i just did..thank u

This default used to be 5 minutes in Logic 5 . This is meant for a constant audio stream, and is kept to a minimum to keep disk fragmentation to a minimum. A song, for example, can be much longer than this "max recording time", but a single pass recording cannot exeed this setting. This number can be increased manually, but unless you will be doing a recording pass that is longer than 15 minutes, like some extended freeform improv, it is better for disk management to keep this setting as short as possible. Keep in mind that if a song is longer than 15 minutes, even if you record it in short passages, as I would, When it comes time to bounce this to a stereo mix, you will need to adjust this number to slightly longer than the song length. It took me a while back in Logic 5 to figure out why my audio bouncing would stop before the song would be finished;)

I think you've got the right driver selected, otherwise it wouln't work at all. The single most obvious thing to ask you though (I'm sorry if this is too basic) is where you have the pan controls set to? To get each mic to record on a single channel, you'd have to have one panned hard left and the other panned hard right. If you leave them both panned dead centre, that's exactly what you get - both mics on both channels.

I Need To Find Out What The Beeps Mean!

I have a K7T266 Pro2 board and when i turn it on, it just beeps in a weird pattern.. then stops, beeps in some other wierd pattern, then stops... but no display and no boot.. if i restart the computer using the reset button, after a few times, if i'm lucky, then it boots (although still beeping first)... i need to get a list of what peeps mean what... any ideas?

I have a scarlett solo usb mic interface that only records audio to the left channel in quicktime.

When I record a movie using my web cam in conjuction with my scarlett solo usb mic interface it only records audio to the left channel. I have tried everything and looked everywhere! Any help would be appreciated.

I recorded music played on an Internet webpage (I believe by means of a Flash Player) with QT-Pro.
Then I played it back again in QT - and it was there - although in poor sound quality.

Hi i am trying to see if there is some way to record audio like with the audio recoreder they sell for previous models but the thing is that it does not work with the video ipod
so how do you record audio and speeches ect so i can do pod casts and stuff?

Do you mean you want to use the iPod as an audio recorder?
Currently it is not possible as there are no compatible microphones.
There are a few in the works by other companies, but as of yet, they have no firm release date (Spring).

Recorded audio in the wrong folder

I recorded my audio in the wrong folder (they are not in the project folder). I copied them over to my project folder but can't figure out how to link my song file/audio regions to the new location. I tried to set this in the Audio Window by resetting "Set Audio Record Path" but it wants me to give it a new file name (creating a whole new document?)
Can someone help me work this out?

Try putting the files back in their original folder location, open up the project, and then use the Project -> Consolidate menu option. If I recall correctly it will move everything into a new specified folder (or an existing folder) and re-reference the paths for you.

Recording audio from the web without recording sound from the internal microphone...

Is there a way to record audio sound sources, for example a webcast in a browser, without without also recording sound thru the built in internal microphone on the MacPro laptop running Mountain Lion?

You need something along the lines of Audio Hijack Pro or WireTap Studio. The latter is currently broken in Lion and Mountain Lion for your purposes, so that leaves Audio Hijack Pro. Neither is free, but both are worth their asking price (well, WireTap Studio will be once they deign to repair it).

is there anybody out there who is using their macbook to record audio?i'd really like to know the results/problems.for those of you out there who do use computer based audio recording software,and r using pro tools in particular,pt version 7.1.1 was released yesterday!

I use garage band from iLife '05 side by side with ProTools mBox 6.4 on my eMac and stuck there because I have to pay extra for upgrade to 6.7. So I wait until I really need newer Protools for my Black Mac Book, and if I need it I might go with mBox 2.
I just got my Mac Book yesterday so I haven't play with garage band on that, but you cannot depend on built in mike to capture the audio for sure because of the unwanted environment ambience that also captured by that mike or captured mac book fan and noise. Invest a dedicated decent mike for that.

I think about an application which can record for example games so that the user can watch this game lalter again.

you're right... not only is it not necessary fast, but it'll consume major memory. If you want to provide playback, then I would suggest recording the state of the application in time slices (you could even record the mouse position and draw a mouse pointer later). During playback, you just iterate through the states and render what the game looked like at that time slice.

Have you seen the screen at the time your iPod is making that "alarm" noise?
Are you resetting correctly?

Cs5 exporting prem pro project to mpeg 2 but there is no audio what the?mac

HI I am pulling my hair out i want to export a prem pro project to mpeg2 because it needs to play and windows but there is no audio I have tried all setting can some one please help me is there a plug in or mpeg sound card

There are two checkboxes to look at:
Export Audio in the main settings panel
Multiplexing (tab) and choose DVD, or similar, rather than "None."
Even with Export Audio checked, if Multiplexing is set to None, you will get two separate files, one Audio and one Video.
