Recording/Capturing Data but No Image or Meters
I have been able to capture video with OL direct to the LapTops HDD - nice. But I don't see any video in the Monitor nor do I have any data in the meters - Wave Form and Vector Scope. Any idea why this may be happening? The Lap Top is older, but it is running nothing but OL. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas?
You can look up your graphics card by going Start>Run>"dxdiag", then click on the Display tab. Look for the device name. The driver date, shown on the same page, could also be instructive.
If PixelShader is in fact the root cause, then CS3 would most likely run better on that particular computer.

I have a large iPhoto library (about 130,000+ images). Recently I added a whole lot from another Library, and now I have a smattering of many grey'ed out "palm tree" images, like events, only just showing drawings of palm trees. I think the photo images are there (I hope they're not lost), but they don't show up in the "Event" format. Even the Photostream "Events" show palm trees and blank. Both libraries are on an external hard drive.
While the additional large number of photos were being added, there was a message, "Import completed" (I believe), but also a message that the whole computer had run out of memory and locked up. I have 8 GB of RAM in a MacBook Pro about a year old.
I've had this problem before (with the Palm trees) but can't remember how to solve it. Something about re-indexing the library by holding down the control, option and/or command buttons while opening..?? Maybe? Would sure appreciate help with this. ThanksWhat format is the external drive?
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work -
Select the max record on date, but not today
Hi all,
I have this table
Access

and for
select data_acce from Access

order by data_acce;
this is the result

Where 20-Dic-07 is today ;)
I need a statment that can give me only the last data value (in this format dd/mm/yyyy) but it cannot consider today.
It's possible without use the RowId?
Thank's
Paolo from MadridNo, you don't need rowids.
Creating an example table:
create table t
( id number primary key,
day date);
insert into t values(1, sysdate);
insert into t values(2, sysdate-1);
insert into t values(3, sysdate-2);
insert into t values(4, sysdate-3);Looking all rows:
select * from t
ID DAY

2 12/19/2007 10:24:28 A
3 12/18/2007 10:24:28 A
4 12/17/2007 10:24:28 A

select *
from t
where day = (select max(day)
from t
where day < trunc(sysdate))

Import old film photos as tif, capture date set to 12/31/03 (1903)
Lightroom 5.5 on Mac Mountain Lion, 8gb memory, files on external usb 2.0 hard drive.
Imported old film images as tifs. Looking in metadata the capture date on all images shows as 12/31/1903 (12/31/03?). Where did this come from as there is no capture date in the original film tif image. Is there a setting someplace I missed? Is this a bug?
TIA for assistance/answer provided.
MiltThe date created metadata within the document is hosed, I've seen this with files in the past, not sure what causes it. Why that old date, who knows but it's a common issue:

You'll have to use LR's Edit Capture Time command to fix it. -
I brought a number of my ipad/iPhone screen captures (.png files) into LR5.
LR does not seem to recognize the capture date for these files. Metadata shows a capture date, but sorting does not occur. Also, the date filter for them shows "unknown".
JohnSeconding a request to sort by capture date.
I'd also like to be able to batch adjust the capture date and time.
With the addition of collections, Bridge has gotten one step closer to being able to compete with iview media pro. Until those two simple requests are added I still have to have two image browsing programs in my workflow. Please don't make me buy a whole new version of CS just to get these little features that should have been there since version 1. -
LR4 imports videos but gets the capture date wrong (1-1-1970)...
Hi,
LR4b on Win7 Home Premium x64, clean system reinstalled today.
I managed to successfully import my M4V videos (previously recognized, imported and managed with LR3) under LR4
even though it complains each time that Quicktime is not there (well, thank you for the info Adobe but this is on purpose that I don't want to install bloatware)
However, upon completion of the videos importation, no valid capture date is assigned to them, and they all show as 1-1-1970. Plain wrong. More tragically, files were renamed to this 1970 nonsense, so I lost the original capture date which was part of their filename. What a mess.
Each M4V video comes from a Quicktime Mjpeg .mov file, converted to more efficient H264 with FFMpeg.
Each M4V video has an associated JPEG sidecar (as originally taken by the camera) which has the correct EXIF capture time and date.
LR4 makes absolutely no use of the jpeg sidecar files, thus defeating their very purpose!
My silly (?) idea:
if LR4 for whatever reason is not able to extract a capture date from a video file, it should at least try:
1/ to extract the capture date from sidecar files, e.g. XMP or companion JPEG (which are indeed copied along, but obviously of no use to the software);
2/ to use as a last resort the file date for the video file (this is probably exposed to LR via filesystem functions)
Or perhaps just warn that files can not be imported since no 'date' metadata is retrievable... better than importing stuff with silly metadata...Hi Anthony,
If you drag a folder of images into the viewing window of iPhoto a roll will be created with the Folders name.
Same thing if you use "add to library" and choose the folder of images to import.

Hello All,
I can record midi data from my Mason & Hamlin Piano Disc Pro Record through my MOTU Traveller into Logic Pro 9.1.8 but Logic won't send the midi data back out to the MOTU Traveller and thus to the Piano Disc player. I got it to playback one time but have no idea how and when it did it was looping or something because the velocity was way high coming back in and the damper pedal was slamming down. When I play a key on the piano the midi "in" light on the Traveller lights up. When I play the track back on my computer no lights blink on the Traveller and when I did the apple midi studio test in utilities when I play a key I get the confirmation signal noise and the Traveller blinks when I click on the down arrow of the Traveller in the Apple midi studio test the midi out light on the traveller never lights and the signal light on the piano does not blink either. No outbound signal at all...
I have messed with every possible parameter I can find and and have had help from one of Piano Disc's premier editors but no luck. The piano was prepped for me on Logic so it would work with my studio. I'm positive it's my fault and I'm overlooking something really simple and stupid but what!??!
Somebody please help. Thank you all in advance for ANY ideas you might have!Blues Piano,
I'm not sure if this will be a help or not. I'm so Logic Pro wet behind the ears that I make newbies look experienced. However, I'm not expecting many on the Apple support forums have a PianoDisc system, much less one with the new optical record strip. While I don't have any record strip on my PianoDisc, I do have a PianoDisc iQ that's only a month old. I've been playing converted paper scrolls from hundred year old player pianos through it via the MIDI in port of the PianoDisc CPU. I've found I have to open the MIDI file in Logic Pro (10.0.4) then go to <Track><New External MIDI Track> then copy the existing track to that new external track. Only then can I see in the Track inspector (defaults left side of screen with the Icon for the instrument) the "Port" parameter. Then I can select my external MIDI device in that Port selector.
I've also encountered problems with the PianoDisc not using enough force on the notes or using too much force. To get around this problem, until I understand Logic better, I've been setting minimum and maximum volicities. To do that I right click on the track and select "Select All." Then I right click again and select "MIDI" then "MIDI Transform" then "Velocity Limiter." In the resulting pop up window in the center is a drop down and you can play with the velocity from "MIN" to "MAX" along with "ADD" "SUBTRACT" etc.
I hope this helps. I envy you your Mason & Hamlin. If you need more help on this just email me at pfleischmann at mac dot com. -
Selecting records from multiple dates but specific time
Hi:
I've to select records of multiple dates but the time should be 00:00:00 to 06:00:00 (i.e. 12 AM - 6 AM)
For date part this can be done:
WHERE
START_TIME BETWEEN TO_DATE('04-01-2012', 'MM-DD-YYYY') AND TO_DATE('04-05-2012', 'MM-DD-YYYY')
But how can I fix the time mentioed above.
Please let me know.
Thanks/TanvirWHERE
START_TIME BETWEEN TO_DATE('04-01-2012', 'MM-DD-YYYY') AND TO_DATE('04-05-2012', 'MM-DD-YYYY')
and start_time - trunc(start_time) between 0 and 6/24start_time - trunc(start_time) will give you the fraction of a day. So 6/24 means 06:00.
(When you use to_char(trunc(sysdate,'hh'),'hh24') between 0 and 6 you will also retrieve records with start_time 06:01 for example. So this would not meet your requirements as far as I understood.)

I was recording a song, finished it and everything went alright. Then I wanted to start with the recording of a new song. With the SAME plug-ins and settings as in the song before. I could record it all, but then, logic started crashing! Now, Logic crashes everytime I open up the new song as soon as I press play. But when I open up the older song, everything works just fine. I can press play without any problems, do things here and there... typical Logic stuff. So, it has to do with my new project! But why? I mean, I'm using everything the same way in both projects. Literally everything!
Now, here's one of my crash reports... please help. Please. Thanks in advance!

Imported iMovie HD project clips have incorrect capture date - add-on info
People converting their .dv files from the iMovie HD style into iMovie 09 style report some frustration at having to rename their clips to view them properly. For discussion, see:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1344628
Fortunately, within the thread, a kind soul has posted a solution - many thanks. This posting is an add-on to that thread, posted here because that thread is archived.
Unfortunately, I could not understand the instructions fully, so I spent some time working out how to make it go, since the solution requires something beyond the usual drag-and-drop to work.
*To Convert the Dates and Names of DV Files from iMovie HD to the Event-Date Format of iMovie 09*
1. Download and Unzip the DVRecordingDate file. It produces a folder with four items: COPYING.txt, DVRecordingDate.class, README.txt and DVRecordingDate.java. None of these should be double clicked.
2. Identify the folder that has your iMovie 6 .dv files. These files will be entirely renamed, so if they are used in any other projects, only work on a copy of them.
3. Launch the program Terminal - it's in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder
4. When you see a prompt ending in a $, type +cd /Users/yourname/Downloads/DVrecordingDate-1-1.0+,
where /Users/yourname/Downloads/DVrecordingDate-1-1.0 is the folder containing the downloaded DVRecordingDate file. This will change the prompt that appears on every line, but it will still end with a $.
(HINT: you can get the path name of this folder by selecting it in the Finder, and choosing copy. All you then need do is type cd in Terminal, and paste the rest in.)
Now is when we rename the files - as stated elsewhere, the Finder creation date is NOT changed - it is only the file name that changes. However, this is enough for iMovie 09 to understand when the file was recorded, and where it should be stored within the events system.
5. At the $ prompt, type +java DVRecordingDate -rename /Users/yourname/Movies/iMovie\ Events.localized/myholiday/Clip\ *.dv+, where +/Users/yourname/Movies/iMovie\ myholiday/+ is the name of the the folder that has your iMovie 6 .dv files. Again, this can be copied from the Finder, and pasted in after typing java DVRecordingDate -rename. The *.dv part os to ensure the program coverts all your files in the folder.
A list appears:
Renaming file(s) from, to:
/Users/yourname/Movies/myholiday/Clip 01.dv clip-2003-08-31 20;37;41.dv
/Users/yourname/Movies/myholiday/Clip 02.dv clip-2003-09-04 18;43;26.dv
/Users/yourname/Movies/imyholiday/Clip 03.dv clip-2003-09-04 19;00;50.dv
etc
and in the Finder all the files are renamed.
And that's it. You can now import the .dv files into iMovie 09 and it will give the files their proper dates within the system.
Hope this saves someone some time...No, I mean that when I import old iMovie projects into iMovie 08 the 'capture date' of footage is not correctly imported (the .dv file creation date is read in instead). Sorry to confuse the issue with the comment about the camera: I just meant to say that all the equipment I used in my setup is fairly standard yet there is a glaring bug in this fundamental functionality.
Regarding re-import: it took me ages to originally import my dv tapes to the computer & not really practical to go through that again.
FWIW, I've not yet imported anything from dv directly into 08 -
Capture Date/Time - clobbered by LR 1.1
Oh No!
It appears that LR 1.1 has clobbered the Capture Date/Time after writing out the metadata.
To try to be clearer, I've been using Elements 5.0 which organizes my photos (all jpg) by date. The date the photo was taken (which is also the date the file was created) are important to me. Those fields are respected by other Adobe products (Album, Elements 5.0 and Bridge CS2). Somehow LR 1.1 treats this date differently and with less importance than other Adobe and non-Adobe applications.
I am not too concerned about the date that the metadata was changed, which LR shows. I want to see the date the picture was taken.
The only way I managed to see that in LR was to customize the display using
Jeffrey's Lightroom Metadata Viewer Preset Builder (for Lightroom 1.1). (Why I had to use a 3rd party add template creator to see the Capture Date/Time I don't know - it should be right there in LR - but leave that aside for the moment) .
Anyhow, I manipulate the metadata by adding keywords and then tell LR to write that to the files. In this process the creation date/time vanished on a number of photos. The only way I could get it back was to use a backup of the original files (losing keywords and other data in the process)or to use Exifier to set the date/time, remove the collection from LR and reimport.
Something as important as the date and time the photo was taken (file creation) is a key bit of data that should be readily available and visible in the metadata display and should not be clobbered or lost when writing out metadata to the files. I see there are other complaints about this and some expressing horror that Adobe didn't fix it in LR 1.1.
My point is simple - for my purposes I cannot fully utilize LR 1.1 if the Creation Date/Time cannot be readily seen, or is in danger of being lost, I would have to use other software.
Geeze, and I was beginning to get comfortable with LR...
Maybe the good folks at Adobe have some comment and might be able to rectify this?
In the alternative, is there something I'm missing about the way Capture Date/Time is supposed to be treated by LR users?
Advice and pointers would be appreciated.Christopher wrote:
"I hear ya, but if someone could just say, this is how dates are supposed to work ... that would be helpful. In particular, what fields or fields does the Metadata Browser use to sort an image into a date bin? If I knew that, I might be able to determine why so many of my images are put into the Unknown Date heading."
Here we go:
1. None DateTime tag defined in exif (or DateTime tags corrupted)
-in Metadata Browser (left panel) Date will be seen as Unknown Date.
-Thumbnail show no DateTime value,
-in Matadata (right) panel, there will be no DateTime caption visible
2. Only ModifyDate defined in exif
-in Matadata Browser value of ModifyDate will be shown,
-Thumbnail show no DateTime value,
-in Matadata panel, ModifyDate will be shown as Time
3. Only CreateDate defined in exif
-in Metadata Browser value of CreateDate will be shown,
-Thumbnail show no DateTime value,
-in Metadata panel, CreateDate will be shown as DateTimeDigitized
4. Only DateTimeOriginal defined in exif
-in Metadata Browser value of DateTimeOriginal will be shown,
-Thumbnail shows value of DateTimeOriginal,
-in Metadata panel, DateTimeOriginal will be shown as Capture Time
+in Medatada panel, DateTimeOriginal will be shown as Time
5. All three DateTime values defined in exif
-in Metadata Browser value of DateTimeOriginal will be shown,
-Thumbnail shows value of DateTimeOriginal,
-Metadata panel shows CreateDate as DateTimeDigitized,
+Metadata panel shows DateTimeOriginal as CaptureTime,
+Metadata panel shows ModifyDate as Time
That's it. Now... why are we confused in LR when speaking of DateTime?
In Metadata Browser any of exif's DateTime value can be shown. That is, looking at this panel only, we never know what Date is being used! Anyway, DateTimeOriginal has priority: if DateTimeOriginal exist, it will be used for Metadata Browser -otherwise any other existing exif DateTime tag will be used.
But if only DateTimeOriginal is missing (so both, CreateDate and ModifyDate exist), then CreateDate has priority over ModifyDate: CreateDate will be shown.
Priority in short: DateTimeOriginal, CreateDate, ModifyDate.
Thumbnails: only if DateTimeOriginal exists, thumbnail will contain DateTime value -otherwise thumbnail's DateTime will be blank.
Sorting of thumbnails per CaptureTime (hence by exif DateTimeOriginal) is another story and can be quite confusing at first sight... because DateTime priorities seems to be the same as for Metadata Browser:
If exif DateTimeOriginal exist (=CaptureTime in LR), then this value will be used for sorting. But if this value is missing, LR will try to use exif CreateDate and if this is missing too, ModifyDate will be used. OK, there's some logic... except, why I'm repeating "if this tag is missing..."?
Because when you modify/rewrite some image, then some tool may damage DateTime in exif -remember: damaged DateTime tag is the same as tag doesn't exist!
In short: if there's exif DateTime corruption involved, you can't be sure which of three DateTime tags is being used for sorting. For some images DateTimeOriginal will be used, for those that are missing that tag, CreateDate will be used instead.
Images missing exif DateTime tags (or these are corrupted), will be shown as first (sort A-Z).

Because I have taken over 9,999 images, my phone is now duplicating image numbers. The problem is that Image Capture now imports BOTH images when I select the new ones that share numbers with old ones. The images were completely mixed when they showed up in Image Capture - Old image 0001, new image 0001, old image 0002, new image 0002 and so forth. I clicked on "date," which then rearraged the images, and I selected only the new ones, but when they actually import to my computer BOTH old and new images are importing. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?
Well, obviously all I needed to do to solve the problem was to post about it. It has stopped, so all is well!

How to save captured data to a log file to prevent lag?
Here is my VI.
I read in an string of this format (the channels number are now 32 only but will like to increase up to more than 10000 later)
Time\sStamp\tChannel:00\tChannel:01\tChannel:02\tChannel:03\tChannel:04\tChannel:05\tChannel:06\tChannel:07\tChannel:10\tChannel:11\tChannel:12\tChannel:13\tChannel:14\tChannel:15\tChannel:16\tChannel:17\tChannel:20\tChannel:21\tChannel:22\tChannel:23\tChannel:24\tChannel:25\tChannel:26\tChannel:27\tChannel:30\tChannel:31\tChannel:32\tChannel:33\tChannel:34\tChannel:35\tChannel:36\tChannel:37\tIP\sAddress\t\n
The problem I am now having is that, the data is through UDP sending in, the program start off normal capturing all data, but when data are captured and saved to the .log file after an hour or more, some of the data will start to be missed.
I guess this is beause the .log file is becoming larger, and in the rate of 10Hz (now), the file open and close can't chase up? so some data are missed?
Anyone could advice or amend the VI so that I could have a better way to save the captured data? making a buffer? or what so ever? Hope someone could help =]
Thanks.

Just found some error when the data are saved.
At some point, there data just copy this whole thing and save in the middle of the excel

I don't know which part handling the error is wrong.
If possible, maybe could you help me delete the whole auto naming function (move it aside) and just add in a promt user for saving directory thing ok?
Thanks!
Here is the file and i added the excel in.
Hi milkbottlec,
Regarding the headings in the middle of your file, I imagine the filename changed temporarily. When the name changed BACK to an exisiting name, the headings were added (anticipating a new file.) I'm more curious about the "lost" data problem. Do you still see holes in the data? If so, were any bad filenames recorded?
Sure! Why not present a file-dialog instead of automatically generating filenames, Looks like you've mastered the "True/False" case, why not build on what you know? Experiment with the File Dialog express VI on the FILE\Advanced File Functions palette. Personally, I'm a fan of auto-generated filenames, though, not necessarily built from the data.
Cheers!

I have written a program that constantly monitors the pressure from a transducer. Once the pressure has stabilized the user can begin the record process which essentially records the data to an excel spreadsheet at different rates depending on whether or not the even has been triggered. The event is determined by the pressure at the point when the record process began + a user defined slope, so when the initial pressure increases by this much begin recording at a faster rate. To capture the initial pressure I'm using a for loop with an iteration count of 1 reading from the continuous pressure reading. That value is then used in a formula node. I'm getting an error saying that the left brace for the formula node is needed. Is this because of the way I'm capturing that initial pressure value? Thanks.....

PressureScanv1.vi 89 KBHi MeCoOp,
I don't know if I fully understand what you are trying to accomplish,
but it sounds like you want the first (initial pressure) value to be
used in all calculations, once it's acquired the first time. With your
current code that will never happen since you are continuously writing
new values to "Initial Pressure" when the "Begin Pressure Monitor" is
TRUE. If you use "Highlight Execution" (the small light bulb) while
your VI is running, you will get a good idea of your dataflow - you
should see that the "Initial Pressure" keeps getting new values from
outside the Case Structure.
To store the initial value and use it for the subsequent iterations,
you could use a couple of Shift Registers on the edge of the While Loop
to store the value. The reason that you need a couple of Shift
Registers and not just one, is to keep track of if it is the first time
the "Begin Pressure Monitor" has been pressed and if it's the first
iteration of the loop. Here's a simplified example:
If this example doesn't relate to what you are trying to accomplish, please let me know why, thanks.
Have fun!
