"recording device already in use," audigy2 platinum and windows 2

I recently did a clean install of windows 2000 sp4, and now I get some sort of "recording device already in use" error with 3 different recording programs. I installed the drivers from the CD with the 'just drivers' option. I already tried an uninstall/reinstall and the problem occurs with no other non-windows programs running. I found a few other instances of the problem in the forum, but no solutions. Any ideas?

I dont understand this reply, what has mute microphone to do with this problem ? The problem i have is using more than 1 input at a time.
I changed to the integrated sound card and now everything is fine, i can mix limitless of inputs without the soundcard telling me its busy. Also the static noise on high volumes are also gone now ........
Ive always bought the most expensive sound cards from creative but when i get better sound with the integrated i have no choice anymore. So tired of all the problems with the X-Fi series.

JMF capture device already in use

Hi,
I'm trying to make something like VI or Netmeeting with JMF. The problem is that i can't send over RTP and have a Player with the same MediaLocator.
error : ...Capture device already in use...
Does anybody know how to send and play the same media at the same time

If I send to unicast address ? I wanna find a possibility to use the same medialocator or the same datasource for example. It tell me that the capture device is already in use. How can I capture and send at same time. For example, how can you see wath you're sending with Videotransmit from java.sun.

iTunes recognize this device and giving option for Restore. i go for it and in the continue process WAITING FOR iPHONE /// at this stage it stuck.. and keep serching like for something and in the iPhone APPLE LOGO and Status bar showing..but not processing further.

Can I use Azure Backup and Windows Server Backup in a Windows Server ?
I want to use both Azure Backup and Windows Server Backup for two senarios.
For Disaster Recovery = Azure Backup to Azure Storage.
For non-Disacter Recovery = Windows Server Backup to a on-premises disk.
The non-Disaster Recovery mean a file or folder recovery, disk crash recovery, migrate to another servers.
The non-Disaster Recovery need the speed of recovery just like 10 TB recovery as soon as possible.
If I can use both Azure Backup and Windows Server Backup in a Windows Server,
Are there any notes for using both ?

My current version of Chrome is having problems, too! It's so annoying. Anyone have any suggestions now? I basically can't view or download any PDFs because of this.
Does anyone else think this is a problem not only with Adobe? I would think Apple would have something to do with this? Wouldn't they get some idea from the developer versions that no browser can open PDFs while running Lion!? Pretty bad customer service on the part of a company that prides itself on being VERY customer-friendly. Wouldn't you say?

Before you do anything make sure that anything you have on your external hard drive is moved somewhere else as all information will be lost in this process. Then make sure it is plugged into your mac
Here's what you need to do next. If you click on your Macintosh HD on your desktop then click on applications. Then scroll down and click on utilities. In there you need to click on disk utilities. When this opens you need to select your external hard drive from the list on the left.Then on the tabs at the top click on partition but just leave it all as is except you need to change the format from Mac Journaled to Fat 32 then click apply. It will then be ok for use on both Mac & PC but be warned they don't like each other so some stuff will work and some stuff won't. If it formatted for Fat 32 then mac will sometimes not read it through a wireless connection. (I am trying to figure this at the moment and can't seem to get it to work).

Dolby Digital Live : Device already in use, how to enable i

I bought Dolby Digital Live yesterday, installed it and activated it on my X-Fi Platinum, but I have a problem. All my drivers are updated, but whenever I try to activate DDL in the Volume Panel or Audio Console, it says that the SPDIF device is already in use.
I tried ending most processes, but the problem is the same, it seems that something is internally using my SPDIF output so that DDL can't be activated. (I'm using Vista Business 32 bits).
It's also impossible to test tones on the SPDIF output as Windows also says it's already in use, that's weird.
Anyone knows how to fix this

This is what I did (complete reinstall of Creative suite was not needed) :
- Uninstalled Creative X-Fi through Device Manager (right click on it, then Uninstall and Delete driver option), without rebooting
- Refreshed modifications in Device manager and said "No" to search drivers for multimedia device
- Installed latest X-Fi drivers without rebooting
- Activated Dolby Digital Li've with a right click on the Volume Panel tray icon
- Rebooted?as the sound was only stereo + echo, and now it works perfectly
Concerning DDL, yes, it's only 5., and Creative plans to "give" DTS Connect the same way they did for DDL for old X-Fi.

What format for my external drive allows use with Mac and Windows?

I got an external hard disk (1 tr) and i want to used it for my windows and mac, i read i can have two partitions one for mac and one for windows, but i dont really want to have two parts, and I read i can format it by fat32 and i can write and read on both os, is that true?
I want to use it for movies, os backups, and files..
Is it true that i can only save files up to 4 GB when the format is fat32?

It this case you would need to to go to "Disk Utility" on mac and select 3 partions which will be under the Parition Layout in my screen shot below. "Current" is grayed out that will drop down select 3 partitions and make one NTFS, second Mac OS Extended, third FAT32. Using the FAT32 for both Mac and Windows but the files have to be under 4GB each.

I strongly recommend having an external drive dedicated solely for TimeMachine. You could partition the drive but if something goes wrong you risk losing the data on both partitions. Should you decide to go ahead with splitting the drive for two different uses you’ll need to partition the drive either using the Mac’s built in Disk Utility program or Windows utility. I believe the built in Windows disk utility program will destroy the current partition and erase the data that’s on it - I use a third party Windows disk utility program for partitioning and it allows for non-destructive partitioning but warns to back up data first just in case. Apple’s Disk Utility can do non-destructive partitions but I don’t recall every trying to do a non-destructive partition on a disk originally formatted for Windows using it. Again - back up that data just in case.
Finally, your TimeMachine drive should be at least 1.5 times (I prefer 2 times) the size of the data you expect to be backing up a year or two from now. In other words, if you currently are using 50GB of your computer’s drive but expect to begin purchasing Mac software to replace software on your Windows computer and if you expect to be putting photos, music, and other data on it you might expect that two years from now you’ll have 100GB of stuff on the drive. So a 200GB partition is the smallest size you’d want. TM’s backup scheme keeps multiple copies of data as it changes so the extra room is important for this scheme.

Looking for options to have multiple Operating Systems available for bootup.
I need to have the ability to run XP, Vista, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 server. I am currently using a Windows PC with BootCommander. I want to use my Mac Pro for its power.
I have tried to use VMWare Fusion and it works perfectly. However, Camtasia crashes regularly within Fusion and I need high resolution desktop captures and the way virtualization does (rather does not) virtualize the RAM on the video card has made it not a viable solution.
Your help is appreciated.

Format one or more of your drives as MBR and setup some partitions. Install in proper order. Or use multiple drives. Maybe someone on Fusion forum can help.
