Recording dvd from keynote

I have a keynote presentation that is timed to music, words, and photos. I have a dvd - recorder (burner) on my windows computer. Is it possible to connect my apple to my windows computer to burn a dvd so that I don't lose the integrity of my presentation? If so; how?
Thank you!
Debbie

I hate to have to tell you this, but it is entirely impossible to write ANY Mac slide presentation to DVD in the form it was created, irrespective of how it was created.
I have tried every method suggested and there is always a problem. I created a slide show in iPhoto, but this won't export to DVD, and if exported to Quicktime, the aspect ratio of the photos is not maintained.
I tried exporting to iDVD, but it won't retain the soundtrack that runs through the iPhoto presentation; there is a limitation on the number of pictures that can be inserted in a chapter, and the application is incredibly clunky anyway.
I created the slide show in Keynote and it was great, but that won't export to DVD either, and the various export options are all completely usless for one reason or another. For example, the timing of the slides and accompanying soundtrack is critical, but Quicktime imposes its own timing on a slide display, so the soundtrack goes out of sync.
Altogether, and with great regret, I have to say that all these Mac products are useless except when they can be run on a Mac. It would appear that Apple has deliberately made it impossible to export to a media that is the standard for visual display. I still can't believe that people I thought of as being the best in business could be so brainless.
My absolutely final attempt will be to try and export it to PowerPoint and hope that Microsoft have been a bit more sensible. But I bet there will be problems with this as well.

  • RECORDING DVD FROM VCR

HOW DO I RECORD A DVD FROM A VCR? I BOUGHT A APPLE MINI-DVI TO VIDEO ADAPTER AND A S CABLE ADAPTER, IT ALL HOOKS UP, BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW UP AS BEING THERE. HELP! ANYBODY! I WOULD LIKE TO DUB MY CHILDS MOVIES OF WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG BEFORE THEY ROT AWAY ON VCR TAPE. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    FYI.
I recently purchased the EyeTV 200 (Firewire).
A refurb direct from Elgato for $200.
    opeyetv200refurb)
Yeah, I got the "200" because I'm transferring 300 training sessions from VHS to DVD. I use the RCA inputs (three wire plug type - white & red (sound) and yellow (video)). EyeTV200 does a fine job.
I also use our Canon GL2 to pass the video through the camera via firewire into my Intel iMac. I find EyeTV 200 easier (and I can watch and record TV!) while at work! (WaaHOO!)
This is for the analog signal. TEh EyeTV 500 is for
    digital cable.
Didn't know that. Saw the "500" but thought it was for HDTV only. Thanks for the info.
Comes with EyeTV software which allows you to view a
TV guide (titantv.com) and click what you want to
    record.
True! You can even schedule it to record like a VCR. I set it up to record "Amazing Race" before leaving work because the program comes on late and I wanted to see it. Got to work and there it was!
Has S-Video as well as Composite video and stereo
    audio inputs.
So true. I also have a VCR with S-Video and it works just dandy with EyeTV 200.
I'm in the process of putting my videos onto DVD with
    it.
Let's you save directly as MPEG 1, 2, or 4.
Also exports to DV, iPod, H.264, DIVX, HD720, HD1080.
    etc.
Between this and iDVD and iMovie HD, it's some pretty
    wicked stuff.
Ain't it so! Two happy EyeTV users playing on their Macs!

  • I can't get transitions to work when burning a DVD from Keynote

While trying to burn a DVD+RW from keynote, using Quicktime 7.5.5, I get a message stating warnings were detected during validation. Nowhere does it tell me where the errors are, or what to fix. If I burn the disk some of the transitions do not work. They freeze, or one slide shows through another. When I went through preview before burning everything worked fine, but when the DVD is placed in a player the transitions do not work. I removed all the transitions, then reburned the disc and things worked fine, but the presentation lacked pizazz.

Which USB Superdrive are you referring to? If this is the one:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD564ZM/A/apple-usb-superdrive
it states it works with Macbook Air, Mini, or MBP with Retina display. If they told you differently, take it back for a full refund and show them their own website.

  • Can I launch a DVD from keynote?

I'm doing a presentation and as part of the presentation I need to show a video.  The video is on DVD.  Is there a way to launch the video directly from keynote without having to minimize keynote and open DVD player and go through all the steps to start the video?

Apparently, there's no such option. One reason is, when you launch a DVD, the Keynote presentation will have to give way to another application (DVD Player, or whatever you use to play back DVDs). So, there's no way to seamlessly integrate a DVD videostream into a Keynote slideshow.
However, you can convert the DVD into a video file using a free converter, for instance HandBrake (http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php). Then you just insert the video inside the Keynote slide, and set it to play back on click.
There are a few advantages to converting the DVD into a video-file: 1) you can convert only a fragment that is needed; 2) you have full control over the quality and file-size; 3) the video will be integrated into the presentation, so once it is over, you can proceed with the next slide without minimizing Keynote.
Note: when converting the DVD video with HandBrake, use MP4 as output format and Mpeg4 encoder. An easy way to check if the result is correct is to open the resulting file with QuickTime. If QT plays it back and it's OK, then the file will also be played back in Keynote

  • Making a DVD from Keynote

This should be a simple process, but I can't find out how to do it. (I get it to work after hours of trial and error, usually, but this time I'm stuck)
I make a Keynote show - beautiful photos, text, etc - but without the music since I've been told the best way to add the sound is to make a movie first and THEN use that to make the DVD.
I exported the Keynote presentation to Quicktime (iMovie wouldn't take the actual Keytime presentation), and then moved that to iMovie. But it won't let me move the clip below to actually make a movie and add sound.
And I tried moving the Quicktime presentation (of course no sound in this version, but the original has sound) directly to iDVD. It appears on the Media/Movie page but I can't figure where to go from there. Nothing happens.
Sigh. Any help would be appreciate.

This actually is an addendum to my own email since somehow half the message got dropped. Sorry.
Basically I've created a Keynote presentation (lovely photos, text, etc) with the intent of making a DVD to share with my mother who is bedridden.
(In the "olden days" I would just make a slide show in iPhoto, add sound, and burn. But I love whaat Keynote can do, it's just figuring out how to get THAT presentation to a DVD I can play in a regular DVD player.
I didn't include sound on the version I exported to Quicktime since I was told that the best way to make the DVD was to make a Movie first so I could better adjust the sound. So I exported the soundless one to Quicktime and then moved that to iMovie, but couldn't get it to let me move the clip below.
I also tried moving the Quicktime version directly to iDVD. It is there on the Media/Movie page, but I can't get anything to happen after that. (I could easily use the version of my Keynote presentation with sound, if it would let me,, but I understand there is a problem with that too....)
Again, any suggestions would be helpful.

  • Problem trying to play recorded DVD from TV

I know there are compatibility problems, but I am wondering if anyone knows a neat way round them.
I recorded a TV programme onto DVD+RW but can't get it to play on the Mac.
Options to consider? Software download perhaps? If so, which one? File conversion? Or just forget it!?
Thanks for helping if you can and do!
    HP   Windows XP   MacBook

Hi Doug - thanks for your input on this. I think I may buy some DVD-R disks and see what happens, but I really want RW as I don't want to keep the recordings. I also have DVD-RAM, which is what I use most of the time. I will also try making a fresh recording on another DVD+RW and see if it plays on my PC.
Coming back to my original question, I guess the recording I made will not be viewable on the Mac and there is no easy way to make it so?
Ken - P.S. Quote from the Panasonic manual: "The disk may also not be able to be played back on other units even after finalizing." Great, huh!

  • Recording sound from DVD and CD play

I just bought a Zen V Plus. Could someone please tell me how to record sound from a DVD and/or CD to my MP3? Thank you!

    Try this:
    1. Connect the Line IN jack on your player to the line output of an external stereo source, such as a CD or MiniDisc player, using the supplied line-in cable.
    2. Press the Back/Options .You may need to do this more than once until the main menu appears.
    3. Select Extra button to start a line-in encoding.
    5. On your external stereo source, start playing the song you want to encode.
    6. While encoding, you can press and hold the Back/Options button and select one of the following items:
Pauses the encoding. You can also pause the encoding by pressing the Play/Pause button.
Stops and saves the encoding. You can also stop the encoding by pressing the Record
Split Ends and saves current recording session, and begins a new one.
    7. Press the Record button to end the line-in recording. The recorded track is named LINE followed by the date and time of the recordin YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS<. For example, if you record a track on March 5, 2004 at 2:57 pm, the track is named LINE
This information can also be found in your user's guide, it's a .chm file found in your installation cd.

  • Problem recording to DVD from DVR

I am having a problem setting the recording speed when recording from DVR to DVD.
When recording directly from the TV (either manually or programmed), I set the recording speed using the REC MODE button on the remote and it works well.
When I record from DVR I set the recording speed the same way but the recording stops after 30 minutes. I was able to get around this by pressing the RECORD button on the set enough times to get it to register the desired speed.
I find this very awkward (and unnecessary). Is there something obvious that I am missing?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think you might be a little confused.
REC MODE is only for setting speed. Multiple times being pressed keeps changing the recording speed.
REC is only for actual recording. Multiple times being pressed increases the amount of time to record by 30 minutes.

  • How do I create a DVD from my iPad2 recorded videos

I have recorded several of my kid's basketball games this summer. I have had parents ask if I can make a dvd of those games to share with the other families. My PC (runnings Windows Vista) does have a DVD burner. I have been able to sync my pics through ITunes, but never videos. Also, can I burn a dvd of my videos from ITunes? I've spent the last several days searching on "how to" but haven't found anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to the DVD burner you'll also need software that is capable of authoring DVDs.
I'm not a Windows person, but I believe Vista comes with an app called Windows DVD Maker.
You might have more success finding people knowledable with it use at Microsofts support site.

  • How do I record music from Itunes to a dvd to play on a Sony DVD player dvp sr500h?

How do I record music from Itunes to a dvd, that shows it is finishing but will not play on my hardrive or on a Sony DVD player, dvp sr500H?

If you are burning a DVD directly from iTunes (a feature which is present in older versions of iTunes but which was removed in iTunes 10.4), that creates a computer-type DVD for backup only and cannot play in any DVD player I know of. If you want to create a disk that can play in a DVD player, you'll need to burn an audio CD, an MP3 CD if the player will accept MP3 CDs, or use some other software.
    Regards.

  • Creating an interactive DVD from a Keynote presentation

Does anyone know how to create an interactive DVD from a Keynote Presentation?
I tried the export to Quicktime option, and then brought that QT movie into iDVD. The problem is that the interactive pauses between slides that I get with the QT version, isn't there in iDVD. The transitions turn into chapters, and when you play the DVD, one chapter goes right into another.
I'm sure someone has dealt with this before.

I should make something clear here...
Be careful with terminiology. WIth Keynote 3 you can create a linear DVD, that works the same way a show in Keynote works if you plan to move through the show in the order you built it (complete with all the builds). What it does NOT appear to do is allow you to make a non linear DVD, which is, if you put a button/hyperlink on a slide, it won't work in the DVD. See my other thread about this for the reason why. I'm praying the next version of DVD Studio Pro will read iDVD projects, which would allow us to customize what Apple creates for us automatically.
