Recording from aux track
I am using an Aux track to monitor external audio. Any chance it is possible to create some sort of environment setting to allow me to record a track directly from there?
This isn't an everyday thing, but it's stupid that logic doesn't support it easily. Logic's routing setup, arcane as it is, isn't quite that flexible.
You can do it by routing the signal out your interface, and back in (with a cable) to an audio track.
Or, for (possibly) reduced latency, use Jack Tools (or something like it) to do this looping with a virtual interface.

??? Make a CD recording from audio track
I need to make a CD recording of an audio track that I have in FCP. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
GlennYou need to take the aiff file that FCP exports and drag & drop it on the iTunes library, when it shows up in the list, create a playlist with just the Aiff title in it and burn the CD in iTunes. If iTunes tryies to convert it AAC, then set the import settings in iTunes to Aiff before bringing in the the Aiff file.
Toast would be a better solution if you have it, as well as being simpler to create the audio CD.
You can delete the aiff from iTunes when your done as well as the play list it was a part of. -
Recording to another track - from source track through effects
I am trying to record from track 6 to track 7. I am processing a pitch-fix through the Antares 5 pitch correction plugin that is on track 6. I added Antares 5 insert to track 6 as an insert. Next I chose the BUS 1 send from track 6 so that I can send the corrected signal to track 7. At track 7, the record track I wanted to select BUS 1 as the input source. That's the challenge. HOW?
Simplified; how do I record from one track to another (One track in play mode and the other in record mode?
silkyhands needs helpYeah, Rob's Right,
Also, if you select the Add to Audio window (on bounce box)
you can drag it from the audio window (apple key +9) to track 7.

Recording from sub and an aux channel
How can you record from a sub or an aux?
Fresh_oilAre you actually sending some of each of the six tracks to the bus?
(little knobs next to the bus assignment under "sends")
Do you have the Aux or any of the 6 tracks muted?
DO you have the master muted? -
I can't seem to get GarageBand to recognize my Behringer X1222 USB Mixer. It will record, but only on the generic "USB Input, without seeing or letting me select the input channel from the mixer. Can't find any drivers from Behringer. How do I getGB to "see" the mixer? Thanks, I'm a newbie to Macs in genreal, and recording...

the x1222 includes a 2 channel audio interface, 2 channels are all you can get from it.
the most you can do is record to 2 tracks at a time; skim this tute to see how:

Is there a way of "merging" songs in iTunes? Several times, I have downloaded recordings from the Internet, or recorded from CDs, then found the tracks broken up to appear as separate "Albums". I have a 5-movement symphony, which appears as 5 separate songs - Irritating!
Try posting in a more appropriate forum, as this has noting to do with itunes U - the place where University/college/museums post education material.

When I record an audio track using Logic Pro X, there is a visible waveform which appears as I record. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is still there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing? And can I do something to view it after it has disappeared? Anyone know the anser?
In Logic:
Preferences/Audio Set Recording Delay to 0 <zero>
This should always be set to zero unless a specific set of circumstances exist and you're audio drivers do not report position correctly.
On occasion, usually when importing a Logic 9 project, Logic-X randomly changes this to a negative/positive number. It's actually a bug in Logic, as it should always display the waveform. -
Problem when recording from the AUX phono output using creative x-fi elite
Hello everyone?Hopefully someone will be able to help me out here, as I've tried everything, however nothing seems to work. I am using the x-fi elite pro on a windows vista ultimate PC. When recording analogue material, from a tape Dec, for instance, I am using the creative audio console which accompanies the x-fi elite pro. I am using the aux phono input on the back of the box, and everything has gone smoothly until a few days ago. When trying to record from my tape Dec this last week, I suddenly noticed that the sound was very distauted in the left channel. Right channel was fine.Of course the first thing I checked was the level, and this was absolutely fine too, both channels were set to around 50% in the sound-options control-panel. I then checked the cable and then tried it on other equipment as well, and everything was also fine here. I then re-connected it to the audio consul, but got the same results. Fine sounding audio in the right channel, but distauted in the left. I then tryed re-installing the newest vista-driver to see if this would solve my problem, however it didn't. Now I've only got audio in the right channel, but no audio at all in the left. Has somebody inhere experienced anything simurlar, and if yes, can you please tell me what could be wrong??All the best from Allan
On certain mobo/graphics card set ups and some sound cards there is an issue with bus latency. In short while playing back audio you will hear a frequent crackling of the audio. That is not the same as the slight click the Elite pro makes when changing modes. It has been a Creative issue for many years but is only present with certain combinations of hardware. I have experienced that issue myself but several years ago. My current Elite Pro/PC set up does not have this issue.

While recording a guitar do not record the output from other tracks
Hi all,
I'm an audition/recording newbie. I have Audition CC. I have recorded one guitar track. and now I'd like to record another one. The problem is that when I try to record it the output from the other one gets recorded as well. I do want to hear the output from the first track while recording track 2 but I want only to record my guitar playing in track 2.
Thank you.The basic problem here is not actually caused by Audition, but by your sound device mixer, which appears to be letting you record everything you hear - so that will be the guitar part you are playing, and also the replayed tracks that you've already recorded. In Windows, the fix for this is generally to make sure that the recording source is set to be just the input you are using, and not 'what you hear' or whatever it is on your device. The playback part of the mixer should let you monitor both the wav playback and your source, which is what you need to be doing - it's only the record settings you need to look at.
If you are using a Mac though, I can't help you because I don't know anything about how they work from that POV, but I'd imagine that it must be similar. -
The red colored "record ready" button has disappeared from my track header area.
The other four buttons are showing fine, (input (i), hide (h), mute (m) and solo (s).
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks
JohnnyAhrenshof: Thank you for your suggestion:
((preferences>audio>devices (re-select your input source) ))
I already had that done IE. I had duet already chosen as input and output etc etc.
The problem seemed to be the issue that was addressed by Eriksimon:
(( ctrl-click the track Header.))
Following that advice gave me a drop down menu which allowed the various buttons to be
checked and unchecked.
Thanks so much for taking the time out to
help with my problem. It seems to me that
this formum is far better equipped to handle
user's problems than any or the options that
are available on the acual Logic help menu.
It appears that Logic has been put
together by techies who, (though they
may be brilliant at computer software issues), then have
virtually no skill or imagination with regards explaining
how to use it, to the actual users.
I have a PhD in Egyptology. I mention this not
because I think it a particularly brilliant acheivement
but just to indicate that I am not a total dummy.
More to the point I find using Logic needlessly tiresome
and the explanations that are given in the "Help" menu
are nothing short of tragic. Perhaps Apple could start to give
out free ropes or razor blades to everyone who buys the program.
Not to say it is not much better that the other junk out there, it is,
the sorry fact is that that is not saying much at all.
I send sincere thanks to all the users out there who support
each other through this forum. johnnyloonybin -
Tracking issue - can I get records from apple
My partner and I have recently split and I believe she has been tracking me, our iphones were paired to each other and her ipad and I would like to know if I can request the records from Apple even though the account is in her name?
No.
She would be tracking your iPhone how?
If with Apple's Find Friends app, you control that on your iPhone.
If your iPhone is hacked with the cutsie term for that "jailbreak", restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup. -

Tracking only Error records from Batch file in BPEL process
Hi,
I am reading file of 1000 records from file adaptor and debatching into two instance of each 500 records. And using invoke insert operation writing into database.
The first batch of 500 records processed successfully and written into database custom table.
The second set of 500 records created warning instance with some error message and nothing is written to database from second set.
The error is due to some wrong data in one row of second set of 500 records. Due to that single row error, the remaining 499 got rejected and nothing from second set is inserted into database.
Do we have control on that only one record of second set(500records) and BPEL process should write remaining 499 records to database.
Please help me on this issue. It would be great help. Thanks inadvance.
Waiting for your replies.
Thank you.

Is it OK to clip audio if just going to an Aux track?
Hi there
I have a project where the drums are recorded on 5 tracks (kick/snare/hat/overheads).
There's no clipping in the recording, but they sound a bit lifeless so I'm using EQ, nosie gate and lots of compression on the kick, snare & hat. This pushes the level meters for each track way into the red. (6.0+).
But, the output to these tracks is a "Drum Chamber" Aux Channel (via Bus 1) which has a mild "space designer" effect, followed by an adaptive limiter which stops the clipping from the output to the Aux track.
I've think got the sound I wanted. But should I be worried that the individual tracks are clipping, even though the original recordings and the final output aren't?
Cheers
SLWell + 6dB is far too hot imo. On the other hand if you like the sound like it is, then why turn it down. Anyway I would never mix like that - depending on the speakers and especially after compressing to low quality mp3 the now inaudible artefacts produced by the heavy clipping could suddenly become audible and nasty sounding.
Why don't you at least insert a limiter set to -0.3 dB after the signal chain before the signal hits the Aux channel. You can bring up the fader again after that.
The smoothing of the drum chamber disguises the clipping of course, so bypass the reverb and see how the drums sounds dry.
Also use the pre fader metering when mixing. It helps keeping levels under control. -
Selective Track Import: "Replace" mode deosn't work here with AUXes tracks
I wonder why, using Selective Track Import, if I select an instrument track in arrange, and I select the instrument of the source song I want to import from, I get the chance to use "Replace" mode. On the contrary, with AUXes this option doesn't work: "Replace" mode is always disabled..... only "Add" mode.... (even putting aux track in arrange and selecting it...)
Hey RevDave, it's David, not sure if you remember me?
We went to your studio once with Curt Bisquera....
Of course I do - Glad to hear from you again!
Anyway:
The MIDI preferences do work correctly, however they
should have no impact on the Audio behavior. The fact
that 'Merge new recordings...' messes with the
replace mode is a bug.
Another funny fact: the recording settings are
divided into two categories:
General and MIDI. That's misleading: they all only
deal with MIDI recording behavior. Audio recording
doesn't have such settings as 'Auto create tracks' or
'Auto mute tracks' since it always behaves like that
anyway.
Thanks for explaining that - and glad to hear that it's a bug.
