Recording FROM computer

This may not be the correct forum.....but is there anyway to record what is being done on the computer monitor? We had some OLD home movies made to DVD. But now you just put it in and it plays.....I want to edit some of the clips, and do some things. ANy suggestons.....

Use a program like Handbrake to rip it into a usable form. Since you own the content, your ok legally. Handbrake can be found here:

Hi, I'm new at this program and am tryting to get up and running. Don't know much about Logic pro yet. I am trying to record something but my recording is only being captured from the computers speakers and not from the midi keyboard i have plugged directly into my computer? how do I get the computer to acknowledge my midi keyboard and stop recording from the actual sound of the piano in the room. Sorry if it's a stupid question..

Logic is a professional level program, it doesn't do anything for you, nothing is setup ready for the user to start recording, (like Garageband tries to do). You really need to read the manuals and online help to become aquainted with the program at a deeper level. I'm not trying to be rude but it's almost impossible to answer your questions with the little information you've given coupled with your lack of "Logic" knowledge. At this point reading the Getting Started manual and using Logic the online help is a must. You have to do some work to use this program.
No one knows whether you're trying to record MIDI, or Audio tracks or even how you have the keyboard hooked up.

  • What DVD player to buy to play DVDs recorded from computer (AVI files)?

Only DVD player I have that will play AVI files from DVDs recorded off the computer is my portable/car DVD player.  Is there a DVD player I can purchase to play these DVDs without using the portable DVD player?

    Look for something DivX certified.

  • Recording sound from computer?

Ok so I have a file that is .vrf (Ventrilo sound) and Sb doesn't open it. But if i play the sound can Sb record it off the computer (via Stereo Mix)? I know Audacity will record sounds off my computer, but i was wondering if Sb would. and if so how?
    Thanks!

    >>What settings? In the toolbar settings or IE7's settings?<<
It's in the "Freecorder" toolbar (mine shows near the top of IE) and is an icon located there for Freecorder's "Settings".  On my installation, it's the second icon from the right end of the toolbar and is located between the "bell" ("Record and Auto-Tag MP3's ...") and the right-facing 'arrow (the "Play" icon). The "Settings icon" looks like two opposite-facing maracas.
Click this Settings icon and a window will pop up.  In its upper-left corner you'll see three places that allow you to place/click a "check mark".  I've put a check in the top line which says "Record From Freecorder Audio Driver", and it has worked well for me.  (Note that in this "Settings window" you can also set the "Recording Destination", the "Output Format", and time at which you want the program to "Prompt for a filename".)
What I do is: 1) click the red "Record" icon in Freecorder's toolbar, 2) start playing the music source so I can hear it out of the speakers, and 3) when it's done playing, save the file.
Hope this helps a little more.

  • I am recording from my computer screen with an elgato game capture card.  Why is the video blurry when I import it to Premiere elements?

I am recording my computer screen with an elgato game capture card.  When I play the unedited footage on my own computer, it is clear and crisp.  When I import the footage into premiere elements, it becomes blurry.  It becomes even blurrier when I save the edited video.  How do I keep the video clear?  How do I fix it?

    Thanks for the reply.
Please check out John T. Smith's information.
At this point, if you could tell us the file extension of the file involved, that would give us a start while you are
gathering the rest of the details.
You can easily get some information for us from Properties for your imported video that is blurry in the Editor.
    1. Click on Expert to get into the Expert workspace of Premiere Elements 13
    2. If you have not already, import your file into the program using Add Media/Files & Folder/Project Assets.
    3. Open Project Assets to see a thumbnail for the video that you just imported. Right click that thumbnail,
and select and click on Properties from the menu that opens.
    4. Tell us what is listed there is Properties - it should look something like this one which is specific for one of my wmv files.
Your information will be specific to the file that you right clicked in your Project Assets.
From what you have written so far, yours should show
    Image Size 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate either 59.94 or 60
Also, please go to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, and tell us what you see for
    Editing Mode
    Timebase
    Frame Size
    Pixel Aspect Ratio
even if the fields look grayed out.
Your project settings may be contributing your Edit area previewing problems.
All of the above will keep us moving forward in the troubleshooting.
    Thanks.

When you say they are displaying in your iTunes library, are you talking about the Audiobooks section of your iTunes library and not the audiobooks section indented under the iPod in the left pane of iTunes under Devices?
Is the iPod Shuffle configured to sync audiobooks or do you manually manage the iPod's contents?

  • Powser Shell Script to Purge Computer Records from SCCM

    Hello!
I have built a collection in Configuration Manager to bring in a list of computers that have duplicate names. Here is the query that I am using.
select R.ResourceID,R.ResourceType,R.Name,R.SMSUniqueIdentifier,R.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,R.Client from SMS_R_System as r   full join
    SMS_R_System as s1 on s1.ResourceId = r.ResourceId   full join SMS_R_System as s2 on s2.Name = s1.Name   where s1.Name = s2.Name and s1.ResourceId != s2.ResourceId
I am building a PowerShell Script to obtain the names of the computer resources stored in the above SCCM 2012 collection and place them in a variable. Next,
I want to obtain the computer resources (e.g., ddr records) and store them in a 2ed variable using the first variable to pipe in the data. I am using a “ForEach” looping construct to accomplish this. Lastly, I want to purge the computers records from the Configuration
Manager database that are stored in the second variable which came from the computers names of the specified SCCM collection. I am attempting to use this line of code within my loop to purge the computer records from SCCM:
    $compObject.psbase.syncroot | % { $_.psbase.delete()
    Here is a
blog I found suggesting this line of code.
What I have discovered is rather interesting. My script works as intended, but even though the correct records  ARE
being purged. The above line of code is returning an error.
You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression.
    At line:18 char:35 + $compObject.psbase.syncroot | % { $_.psbase.delete() }
    +                                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (:) [], RuntimeException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : InvokeMethodOnNull
    I have a few questions:
Does anyone know why this is occurring?
Is there a different approach or code I should be using instead to purge the collected data?
    Here is my full script:
    #// required parameters
    $SCCMServer
    = "MySiteServer"
    $sitename
    = "PS1"
    $collectionID
    = "PS1009c8"

    $SMSClients
    = Get-WmiObject
-Query "SELECT * FROM SMS_FullCollectionMembership WHERE CollectionID='$collectionID' order by name"
    -ComputerName $SCCMServer
    -Namespace  "ROOT\SMS\site_$sitename"
#//looping construct to loop through all the colection members
    ForEach ($SMSclient
    in $SMSclients) {
#// Loads computer records one at a time into $compobject variable using a ForEachloop to be deleted
    $compObject
    = get-wmiobject
    -query "select * from SMS_R_SYSTEM WHERE Name='$($smsclient.name)'"
    -computername $SCCMServer
    -namespace "ROOT\SMS\site_$sitename"
#// Delete’s computer objects one at a time in $compObject variable from CM12 database
    $compObject.psbase.syncroot

    $_.psbase.delete() }

Have you ever used Orchestrator to kick off your Powershell scripts? I am using System Center 2012 R2 Orchestrator, and trying to use the "Run .Net Script" action to launch my Powershell code, but the process is failing.  When I run the code
from within PowerShell and RunBook Tester the code executes as it should. When I run it from the RunBook I receive this error:
Exception calling "Delete" with "0" argument(s): "Generic failure "
Just curious if you had any thoughts why my code was blowing up in an Orchestrator RunBook when it works fine within PowerShell? My full code is below.

    $collectionID = "PS1009c8"
#// Obtain collection members from $collectionID

  • Problem with Adobe Audition 2.0 and recording from a 1212m.

I bought a brand new machine and have be configuring it all week. Everything has been going well, except getting Adobe Audition 2.0 (the new version) to “hear” sound from the 1212m.
The intel 975 motherboard has an integrated HD sound system already on board and I have been able to get adobe audition to recognize it and record from it. This is what I have Windows XP Pro set to as my default sound card.
I installed the 1212m and I have gotten my monitors to work by using the XLR jacks on the monitors to the ¼ inch jacks on the 1212m using a VST (NI’s Kontakt 2) as the audio source. So it works.
What I can’t seem to get to work is getting Adobe Audition to “hear” the sound coming from the 1212m.
Patchmix seems to be working ok. The audio bars jump each time I hit a note on the keyboard.
I have configured Audition by going to Audio Hardware Setup and setting it to EMU ASIO and tried every combination of INPUT and OUTPUT, but when I hit the Record button in Audition it just flat lines..
I was hoping that once the audio made it from the VST though the 1212m and out to the speakers, that getting Audition to record it would be easy, but that hasn’t been the case.
The Intel 955 Extreme Edition and the 975 motherboard are brand new and I’m worried that being on the bleeding edge of technology, that one of the drivers isn’t working correctly and causing me hours of debugging a problem that is unworkable from my end.
Hopefully the problem is just some small stupid thing that I’m doing or failing to do (like normal).
    Any ideas would be helpful.
    thanks

I'm just saving it into a file in "My documents" on the internal hard drive. It's a computer in the office which has been used my other people before me and I have my own file which I was always able to save Adobe sound files into before, so I don't think it's anything to do with me not being allowed or read-only.
I've also been trying to save it onto USB hard drives. This works when I save it under a different name, but not when I'm just trying to update a file i've been working on. Basically I have to create a new file everytime I add something, so like "myaudit1", "myaudit2", "myaudit3" etc etc, even though it's the same piece of work just updated.
    Hope that makes sense!

  • Hotsync failing to download records from Palm TX

I just got a used Palm TX to replace my ancient Handspring Visor, but I can't use it with my main Windows XP system 'cause it just plain won't pull anything down from the TX. It'll put stuff onto the handheld fine, it just doesn't download anything. It doesn't even acknowledge that there's data there to be retrieved. The only way I've gotten it to properly sync is by installing Palm Desktop 6.2.2 on my father's XP machine in order to test if something was wrong with the TX. And I've tried both USB and Wi-Fi syncs to my computer, with no results.
I know it's something wrong with my XP PC, 'cause not only doesn't the Hotsync work right, but Palm Desktop doesn't save anything. Put some data into the Date Book, Address Book, etc., press "Save All", and it'll cheerfully act like it's saving it while silently dropping it into the void. Reopen Palm Desktop and it's all missing. I know this 'cause I exported all my records from Palm Desktop 4.0.1 before uninstalling it, then imported them into 6.2.2, and none of them stuck. The only time it showed up was when I was fiddling around installing and uninstalling the Palm Desktops and tried to install 6.2.2 without uninstalling  4.0.1 and the installer caught that the old one was installed and told me to uninstall it to complete the installation. So I did that, and lo, it imported all the records from the previous install, and they showed up in Palm Desktop 6.2.2. Of course it wouldn't save any changes after that, but it could upload them into my TX.
Anyway, if someone could help be nail down where the Hotsync and Palm Desktop are breaking, that'd be really helpful. I'm at my wits end on this one. Thanks.

Have you checked the HotSync Manager settings for each conduit?  Are they set to "Synchronize", or writing in one direction only?
Is there more than one HotSync Account name on Palm Desktop?  Are you viewing the correct one that matches the name in the HotSync app on the TX?

  • How to record from the video in or S-video Ports on Qosmio G40?

Can anyone tell me how to record from the video in or S-video ports, because i've tried the Ulead DVD factory program and the only capture device it could see was the webcam, and it did capture from it
After that i've downloaded the update file that was provided by the support website
The devices that the program could see are the TV tuner and the webcam (which it couldn't access anymore for some reason)
After that i've downloaded a newer update which simply is the same as the last update and seems that someone in the support website directed the link of the new update which they don't have to the file of the previous update which doesn't really do anything.

    Hi
There are 2 s-video ports; s-video out port is not designed to capture the signals from any external source. The name of this port says everything; its an OUT port!
The s-video-in port must be placed at the right side of the notebook. Dont mix the both ports. But note; this port receives only the video signals. To hear the sounds, use a video cable to connect the sound terminals of the audio device and your computer.
    Red: sound right channel
    White: sound left channel
The Ulead DVD Movie factory can be used to capture this signal.

  • Recording from mic, not sound card

Hi there. Relatively new to Audition so trying to get my head around it!
I'm using Adobe Audition 3.0 and i'm mucking about with it basically to get some experience for my uni project. I'm trying to compile and edit together a collection of audio clips from a number of web streams. I've done it before for a while on a different computer and it worked fine but i'm having trouble doing it right on this occasion.
Basically, it's recording from my microphone rather than what's being played on the computer. I have no idea how to change this. Any help guys?

I bet you've moved to a Vista or Windows 7 machine.
Under pressure from the record companies, the ability to record the Stereo Mix output of you computer has been disabled or removed from many new computers.
You may be lucky and find it's only been disabled on your machine.  If so, then do the following:
    To enable:
    ->> go to Control Panel
    ->> Hardware and Sound
    ->> Manage Audio devices
->> in the Recording tab window right click in the white area away from any devices and from the menu enable "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show disconnected devices"
->> right click on Stereo Mix to get the properties window and in Device usage "Use this device (enable)"
However, there have been many reports in here (you can do a search) that some computer manufacturers are actually removing this ability entirely, again under pressure from the record companies.
This being the case, you might try some software called Virtual Audio Cable:  http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm
You have to pay for it but at least there's a trial version so you can see if it works for you before laying out your money.

  • Recording from Creative Media Aborts

    Hi all,
I have been experiencing some probelms trying to record onto my computer via the creative media console. I have sound, and the computer registers the sound, but after a certain amount of time, the program simply stops recording and prompts a message "the recording process was aborted".
I run win XP with a sound blaster audigy 2 sound card. The drive I am recording onto has over 39 gigs of space and I am recording from a pioneer djm 500 mixer plugged in via rca cables to the aux line 2.
I am trying to record dj mix sessions and needless to say it is quite aggrevating to realize that nothing is recorded. The maz time I have tried is around 80 min (that of a cd).
Here is the record settings I have been using:
    Channel: Auxiliry 2
WAV, STEREO, 96,000 Khz, 16bit sample rate.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance - Michael

Personally I've never heard of one. I know that Notmad can backup playlists onto the PC, but I'm not sure what format they're in. I'm thinking it isn't M3U though.

  • Recording from minidisc to creative player with an x

I tried recording from my?minidisc onto my computer with the x-fi card, through the line-in and mic jacks. When I stop recording and turn off the source, I still have the record volume showing some input even though nothing is on. I?even?tried disconnecting the minidisc from the input jack but the player is still showing some input. This is causing my recording to have a steady interrupting noise every quarter of a second or so. Any ideas where to search for this mysterious input or how to get around this problem.Louis?

If you are using the Digital input (SPDIF) to record from MiniDisc then you are correct that it is 44.1Khz, but are you ensuring that the SPDIF input is set as the master clock? You will need to ensure that is so whilst you record digitally from it.
I can't fanthom why you might be have a problem recording from the analogue outs though. The phasing sound you describe sounds like you are hearing the original sound plus the slightly delayed sound due to software monitoring perhaps?

  • Mac Mini, Audacity and recording from vinyl and CD

I'd like to record some of my vinyl and CD collection but I've tried following the Audacity instructions but I can't get them to work. Either I don't seem to have the right Line In / Line Out or I seem to have everything right but it just doesn't work.
I play my vinyl and CDs on separates that are hooked up to my mac via an R8 Jack (?). Is it possible to use audacity to record from them?

Hi, what is an R8 jack? Do your devices output Line level?
Audio in/optical audio in port ...
The Audio In port accommodates both digital optical input and analog audio input.
Analog audio line input is accepted through a 3.5mm mini phone jack. The sound input port accepts line-level stereo signals up to 24-bit stereo 44.1-192kHz sampling rate. It also accepts a stereo miniplug-to-RCA cable adapter for connecting stereo equipment to the computer.
Optical audio input is SPDIF format and uses a standard TOSLINK cable with a TOSLINK mini-plug adapter, accepting up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-96kHz sampling rate.
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.
