Recording from tape

When uploading from a camera to onestep dvd, it stops recording and finishes the dvd if there is a blank spot in the tape. Any thoughts?

You can't use one the step feature w/in iDvd directly from the camera if there is an actual time code break on the tape.
Suggestion: you may still be able to use the one step option from a QT Folder or File (as opposed to the camera) prepared beforehand w/o any time code breaks within the video.
Hope this helps but if not come on back.

  • Recording from tape player with line-in feat

    Hi All-
I got my Zen Nano plus a few months ago after failures with 2 other mp3 players. I really like the idea of being able to take recordings from my tape player. However one feature that is very annoying is that it will stop when the level gets too low and then start again when the tape starts up again. When I am trying to capture voice, I'm loosing a lot of the beginings of words. Is there any way to disable or get around the on -off and have it record continuously? Or are there other mp3 players or HD players that have this feature?
    Many thanks
    Ann

The best idea is to convert from analog tape recording to digital files on your pc. The processor on the pc is much much more powerful, and the conversion programs that run on the pc offer so many options to help enhance sound quality. After the conversion is made on the pc you could then use a processing program to raise the volume on the softer parts of the recordings. The Nano Plus is an excellent mp3 player, but its line in quality and microphone quality are not so good.

  • Qosmio G20: Recording from tape deck to computer

My Qusmio G20 manual says the 'Monitor-in Port' functions as a 'line-in Port' for connecting an audio device. However, I have connected up my tape deck's line-out ports to the computer's 'Monitor-in Port' with the appropriate cables and jack and get no signal/tape playing through the computer's speakers.
Can anyone advise me on whether this is truly possible to do, and if so, where I might be going wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply, Alcahest.
The speaker Icon you talk of (Volume Control) only has 'line-in' listed in the 'recording properties' section of it, and having its box checked doesn't relate to muting but allowing, so far as I can figure. Anyway I have tried all variations of ticked and unticked boxes in 'volume control' and in the 'recording control' section of it, with no success.
Odd thing is, if I plug into the microphone socket on the computer I do get the tape deck playing through the speakers, but unfortunately only in mono.

  • Recording from Vinyl Tapes to Zen Visio

1 ) Is it possible to transfer music directly from my Vinyl Cassettes to Zen Vision M (60GB)?
    2) Can I use External mic for voice recording instead of inbuilt mic?
Any special accessories required for the above tasks and their availability (Creative or otherwise)
    R D SAMANT

You will need a digital audio player with a line in to be able to record from tape or from vinyl or any other external source. Vision M does not have this. Ditto for an external mic.
The JB and JB3 have line in capability. JB3 is still a favorite of the taping community.
I also use one in my turntable setup, recording to it from an amp output. This is a VERY convenient way of digitizing my old vinyl.

  • Recording from a turnta

I would like to record from a turntable. What hardware and software do I need?

I record from tape and turntable regularily but have not used the input of my SoundBlaster since I got my JB and then replaced it with JB3. Using the JB3 is simple and very convenient! with options to record to mp3 at various CBR bit rates or to wav at various sampling frequencies. I choose 44.kHz wav and usually add +dB of gain in the JB3. Once the wavs are completed, I move them to my PC which is fast via firewire, then use Audacity http://audacity.soungforge.net to split up the individual tracks. I name each Artist - Album - # - track, 2, 3 etc encode to mp3, and then use the SuperTagging feature of Music Match Juke Box to fill in the tags, providing track titles, year of release and the cddb genre, which I edit later.
I am one of the lucky ones with most of my LP's still in pristine condition so do not worry too much about pops and ticks (from that pizza in 973) etc.

  • Recording to tape from the timeline

I'm trying to get my sequence onto tape by recording from the timeline.  I'm able to capture footage from camera (Canon XLH1), but when I try to export to tape, my cam is not recognized.  I've checked the manual settings and have checked the control panel and the cam is recognized by my computer.  Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link to that thread!
My computer is ok but not great.
    Dell Inspiron 530:
1 TB 7200 rpm dedicated video drive recently bought.
3 gigs of ram ( machine only holds 4).
CPU is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4 Ghz
OS is Vista Home Premium 32-bit with service pack 2 installed.
My OS drive is on the small side (250 gigs).
All my drives were just defragged today.
Graphics card is ATI Radeon 2400 HD Pro.
Have front and back firewire ports
I'm wondering if I may be sucessfull with a Canon HV 30 or 40 in lieu of using an A1.
Maybe my firewire cord is not up to the task.
Something is interupting the flow of data while it exports as it transcodes fine!

  • Can someone tell me step by step how to record from audio tape to mac book with the help of xitel import deluxe

Can someone tell me step by step how to record from audio tape to mac book with the help of xitel inport deluxe system.  Somebody had mentioned that we do not have to download the software - so I did not, but the computer does not recognize the connection.  How can I know it is connected - can someone please tell me step by step as teaching a layman.  Thanks.

It seems this question is best posed to the makers of "xitel".
I looked up A product and it is out for Windows but does not mention Mac OS X:

  • Record HV20 'live' instead of from tape using firewire?

I can capture from a tape in the Canon HV20 using FCP6.
Is it possible to record 'live' (not from tape) from the HV20 using firewire, or is this only possible with HDMI?

gogiangigo - When I searched for 'LIVE RECORDING' as suggested in that link, the only thread I found that seemed to actually tell how to do this mentioned:
Match the sequence settings to the cam setting
Open the log and capture window.
    See the device to noncontrollable.
Click capture now and esc to stop.
However, I've been unable to get this to work.
The Command-8 'Log & Capture" simply asks for a file name, and then aborts with 'the end of tape has been encountered'
I tried setting the 'device control preset' to non-controllable (from HDV firewire used to capture from tape), but got the same message.
The 'Log & Capture' window never opens with any additional tabs or the 'capture' button (as the on-line docs seem to suggest should be there, even for non-controllable).
So, I must be missing something very obvious?

  • HT204291 Using Azul media player app on my ipad  Apple tv will only display sound but not video from movies.  Any ideas on a fix.  I set mirroring to on but it still does not display video.  It will display photos and video recorded from my iphone.

Using Azul media player app on my ipad  Apple tv will only display sound but not video from movies.  Any ideas on a fix.  I set mirroring to on but it still does not display video.  It will display photos and video recorded from my iphone.

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home  Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the  icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the  icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay

  • Recording from vin

When I record from my old records, all goes well, except when I want to stop recording at end of a track, the stop square icon is inacti've and doesn't stop. I spose it would record the whole album side, but I want to divide the tracks.
    Any suggestions?

Lots of times the headphone jack isn't the same level or impedance as a true line level output, so overdriving and distortion may be a problem. Depends on the particular player. A "set-top" type player has line out jacks and would probably sound a lot better in the end. I've gone through changing all my tapes to music CDs and it was well worth it in the end. Now on to the vinyl, then the laser discs.

  • Recording from DAT using SB Conn

Long time ago I have recorded DAT tapes using my Denon DTR 2000. I used digital recording from CD for that. Now I am considering using SB Connect for burning CD's (DAT?is such an old stuff?don't want to loose my recordings). Anyone has tried anything like that? Any problem with SCMS?

    BES,
Which input on the back of the card did you use? The Line-in is the stereo input. Ensure that you have the cable fully inserted on both ends. Also check with another source such as a CD player or personal radio. This will tell you if the tape player may be sending only the left, or if the input jack is failing.

    hi again
i forgot to ask-when your recording from a cassette tape to a cd how can i get the songs to fit onto a cd as a caseette tape is 90 minates and the cd is only 80 minates?thanks

I believe you can buy CDRs which are 90 minutes, but I'm not sure how well these work.
You can even find 99 minute CDRs. The only problem with the higher capacity CDRs (90+) is that some burners and some players do not support them. I would check http://www.dvdrhelp.com for compatibility of your burner and players before investing in these discs.
Are you using any specific software to enhance the sound quality of the cassette recording before transferring?

  • Recording from Cassette Pla

When recording from a cassette player (into an mp3), is the "line out" from the player the same as the headphone jack or do I need to get a different cassette player.

  • Recording from a stereo

How do I set up a voice memo recorder to record from my stereo? It should be possible (as the manual on the voice memo recorder briefly notes, and Apple confirms), by switching the button behind the microphone from "mic" to "line." But so far I've only succeeded in getting a message that no microphone is connected. Ordinarily I have an AV cable hooked up in a way that works for sending music from the ipod to the stereo -- connecting to the output jacks for a VCR, since all the others were in use by cd player, tape deck, and phonograph player). But when I try switching it to the input jacks and recording an old LP, I get only the error message, whether I plug it into the place where the microphone goes or instead where the earphones go (which I guess can't be right) on the ipod. Can anyone explain what configuration would work? Am I right in assuming I don't need any further wires?

    Hi,
Are you trying to upload to your computer, the audio tracks on old LPs played on the stereo? If so, probably a better way to go is to get a second set of audio cables to go from the audio/line-out jack of either the phonograph or amplifier (depending upon your stereo's setup) to the audio-in jack at the back of your Dell (assuming you have a sound card installed).
I suspect if you use the iPod Voice Memo mic for recording the LP as it plays over-the-air so to speak, the quality won't be great. Better to input directly into the sound card the audio output produced by the stereo.
Depending upon what you want to do with the audio tracks once it's on the Dell, you can get other pieces of hardware, such as an M-box, or software to further clean up to sound, before you import it into iTunes (for example).

  • Video record from PC

I have trouble recording from my MSI Ti-4400 card to my VCR (from W2k).
I've connected from my graphic card to the VCR with RCA connectors to a SCART adapter to the VCR. The picture is perfect on the TV but when recording on a VHS tape the playback from the tape flickers.
I've tried different tapes and sources and no problem there. It must have to do something with the settings on the graphic card?
    Thanks for help.

Found it. The Output device in the graphic card settings was set as NTSC-M as default. Works fine now.
Strange that it had a perfect picture on the TV but not on the VCR recording since the signal was passed through the VCR to the TV (maybe I have an old VCR )
    Thanks anyway!
