Recording homemade edited movie soundtrack onto a CD?

I recorded some birdsong with my video camera, loaded them into iMovie then sent them to Garageband to edit. Having edited them I now need to record them onto a CD but GB has sent the file to iTunes as a movie clip. How do I get the soundtrack onto a CD please?
I need this for this evening so I'm panicking a bit here!
Thanks,
wippitwalker

Thanks for your reply, Keith, I must admit I'm struggling here & have to go out now but I'll try again when I get home later tonight. Whilst I needed it tonight for a rehearsal I still have a couple more days to play with it before I need it for sound effects for a Show. When I tried opening the file in Quicktime (I think I did it right) I got the message the movie could not be opened error 1409.
Thanks again,
Carol.

  • I burned an edited movie to disc using H.264 codec and a second movie to MPEG -4 Video both worked well on my iMac but will not play on my Sony DVD Recorder/Player which accepts both DVD RW and DVD-RW.  Any suggestions?

I burned an edited movie to disc using H.264 codec and a second movie using MPEG-4 Video.  Both played well on my iMac but would not play on my Sony DVD Recorder/Player which accepts both DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs.  I have tried other 'codecs' DV-PAL; DVCPRO-PAL; DVCPRO50-PAL; AIC; and finally share to iDVD.  iDVD works on both my iMac and DVD Recorder but the picture is very poor with major shimmering which is unwatchable.  Can anyone assist? The other codecs I used either do not pay on my video recorder or fail when I play them back on my iMac.  I am at a loss as to what I can do.  I am from the UK so using PAL is essential.

If the source video is interlaced, you may have problems using iMovie. It de-interlaces everything on output which can cause picture to look strange.  Final Cut Pro X supports interlaced video, but it costs a lot more.
Standard DVD Players don't support H.264 or MPEG4.  You might want to look at this article on transferring HD video to DVD.  I wrote this article mainly for Final Cut Pro, but many of the same principles apply.

  • CAN'T figure out how to make/edit movies in QuickTime Pro...

I can't seem to figure out how to creat and edit movies in Quicktime Pro. I would do this in windows movie maker as its sooo simple, but it doesn't save in a format that works on a mac computer (I'm emailing the video to someone who uses a mac!). And, I can't seem to find a program that is as easy to use as Windows Movie Maker...PLEASE help me, I really NEED to get this movie in a format to work on a Mac! I'm at a total loss as to what to do! And I can't seem to find a tutorial, either!

First of all, Quicktime is not really an "editing" program in the traditional sense. If you are expecting to really edit in QT Pro, you will be disappointed. Yes, you can actually import video directly into QT Pro and edit it, but the functions will be limited to roughly selecting chunks of video and deleting them, and you won't have frame-accurate control like other real editing programs. But lets start at the beginning: 1) Your post does not give enough information to anyone for them to help you. Where are the videos coming from that you want to edit? Camcorder? Digital camera that takes MPEG movies? VHS or DVDs? 2) The answer to #1 will be the clue as whether you are plugging a USB device or a Firewire device into the computer. Once this is determined, then instructions will vary as to how you go about editing. 3) I'm not sure if you are using QT Pro on a PC or a Mac. If you have a Mac, why don't you use the built-in video editing program that came with your computer? It's called iMovie? Quicktime can convert some video files into something that is compatible with iMovie, if they're not already. If you are using QT Pro on a PC, then I'm a little unfamilar as if it works exactly the same between between a Mac and PC. Seeing that you come from the PC side of the Universe, I'd bet that you are trying to plug in and use a USB device. On a Mac, QT Pro can record video directly from a camcorder, but it needs to be connected via Firewire. Otherwise for something transferred via USB, you most likely have an MPEG file. QT Pro can open this, but again, the editing will be very rough as QT is not a refined edit program.

  • Movie Soundtracks

I was delighted to discover that my 8820 now allows me to listen to my audio files via a bluetooth headset — a remarkable improvement in sound quality over the internal speaker or the earphone which were all that were available in my older 8800. I can even stop and start songs, control volume, and skip or repeat tracks Terrific!
By contrast, the 8820 does not seem to offer the same sound quality or flexibility when listening to movie soundtracks; at least, none that I’m aware of.
Ideally, I’d like to be able to use my bluetooth headset directly when I’m watching movies on the 8820, in the same way that I do with my music. If that remains impossible, I’d be interested in some kind of adaptor which would allow me to plug in a standard stereo mini-plug in order to communicate with the headset via bluetooth, or at least to attach a wired headset.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Dear Dave
Thanks for this very helpful information. I had originally intended to convert MOV to AVI files so I could edit videos on some third party software (which came with my computer), but I won't bother with this now - will just keep it in the same format and do all the editing on Quick Time Pro.
I am having some trouble upgrading to Quick Time Pro. When I click the Upgrade button, it takes me to the Apple US Store and I add to my shopping cart. Then I run into problems because my current Apple identity defaults to the United States as my country of residence (I live in Australia). I've tried to change the profile without success (the problem is that it will not recognise my area code) and assume that I will also need my (Australia) billing address as verification for the credit card. Perhaps I would do better to redo the profile at the end of the transaction process, if necessary creating a new profile?

  • Importing pre edited movies

I have been importing my DV camera footage from the past few years into iMovie 11. These have all impoted just fine. However, when I come to import a previously finished edited movie (project) that has been saved back to DV tape, iMovie seems to split up the edit into individual events. This only seems to happen where the date of the original footage differs. ie. if all the original material was shot on the same day, the movie will import OK. If not, then it will break up the movie. Also a great deal of audio noise will be added to the clips identified from the differing timestamp.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

Yes, there are all kinds of tools to extract audio from the various movie formats out there.
Because of the differing way audio is handling in the different movie containers and file types, I find it's usually far easier just to use Audio Hijack Pro and record the audio output of whatever player is playing back the movie into a regular audio file.

  • I have home movies burned onto a DVD.  How do I get them into imovie?

I have home movies burned onto a DVD.  How do I get them into imove?

i assume you mean for editing.  in that case, you're going to need either some software or hardware to convert the signal from DVD to something that iMovie can handle.
there are a couple of devices out there that can convert sources like DVD, like a Canopus ADVC ($170), or the cheaper Elgato VCD ($85) that converts to mp4.  the main advantage of the Canopus is that i can convert from analog sources like VHS.
if you're just working from DVD sources, then DVDxDV software ($29) will probably do the trick and be the most reasonably priced option.
of course, these all are meant to be used for non-copyrighted DVDs -- they will not work on DVD's that have have copy protection, and no one here will discuss any illegal copying.

  • Why no "snap to edit" in soundtrack pro?

One thing that bugs me about Soundtrack Pro (aside from all the bugs) is the lack of "snap to" fuctionality in Soundtrack Pro. In FCP you turn on snapping and you find the end of a clip easy within a few pixels. With soundtrack you seem to only have the options of Ruler ticks, seconds and frames. Why no "snap to edit" or end/beginning of a clip?
I'm increasing doing most of my editing in FCP. I'm then sending that edit to Soundtrack Pro where I can sweeten it with no further edits. One day Soundtrack pro will be a editing tool. But not just yet.

    Hi,
Thanks for this tip. it's not quite what i had in mind but it may have it's uses.
What i mean is the sort of snapping in FCP. What i should have said was a way for the play head to "snap" to the end of a clip, so you can then move another clip that will then "Snap" to the end of that clip and so on. As it is, if I move a clip to but up against another, it tends to overlap and start a cross fade. What I want is for it to meet a barrier of sorts, and not start overwriting/cross fading with the clip, so i can get precise alignments and not worry about shaving off a few frames here and there.
Is there anyway of doing this?

  • How can i move ipod onto a different icloud account pls

i want to move ipod onto a different icloud account without losing any info on my iphone which is on the same icloud account

You can only keep data of your calendar, contacts etc. on your device, if you decide to delete your iCloud account from your device. Just go to "Settings > iCloud" scroll down and press on "Delete Account", then choose the option to keep the data on your device. After that sign in with your other account and choose "Merge data".

  • How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?

How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?  (The clips are in a .mov format, they have been imported / converted into this format in iMovie, original files were from a JVC camcorder in some other strange format.)

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • Getting a general error message in FCE when putting .mov file onto timeline

Putting a .mov film onto the timeline above a moving image so we see the mov file playing in a reduced size in the background of whats going on ( a window). Don't know why this is happening but any advice would be appreciated!
We are really stuck so any help would be so appreciated!
    thanks.

Its converted to an mpeg4 file but i think it may be the fact it is running at 30fps as oppose to the rest of the project which is 25fps. When I try to put it on the timeline it gives me the general error and then the footage which was on below it on timeline no longer exists. Very strange.

picture size...in putting together a book I can move photos onto a page and enlarge the picture but is there a way to reduce the picture size? some cases I want a smaller picture and if I change the size of the picture box I only get a portion of the image. I want to reduce the image to fit the size of the box.

    If you right click on the image on the page in the context menu select photo box alignment and then select one of scale to fit {centered, Left-aligned, Right-aligned}
That should do what you are loking for.

  • Unable to edit movies in QuickTime Pro

I just licensed a copy of QuickTime Pro. However, I find that I am unable edit movies.
The Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete and Trim to Selection menus remain greyed out, even when I specify a selection with the in/out markers. The movies I am trying to work with "MPEG Muxed" format, and were taken with a Sony DSC-N1 camera. Exporting them to other formats does not seem to solve the problem.
My understanding is that I should be able to edit movies with QuickTime Pro. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your swift response!
I got QuickTime Pro so I wouldn't need other utilities when doing trivial editing to videos, so I feel like I've probably wasted my money on a license. Why a free utility can handle a common format that QuickTime Pro can't is beyond me.
Thank you for your assistance! I've downloaded what you recommended and am up and running!

Try outputting it as a MP4 or M4V
If Final Cut won't output it, Mpegstreamclip will convert it. So will Quicktime if you have the pro version.
