Recording http application in OFT

Hi,
I'm recording a new http application(http://10.196.215.4:8080/sagent/main.htm) in OFT.The recording mode is manual.
The user logs and views reports as per the parameters specified.When I'm playing back,timeout error is being shown&the script fails.
Pls suggest.

Do you just need to record the HTTP traffic are you doing that for load testing ? or do you need to use the script for functional testing?

You should read about TCP and splitting data stream into packets and learn how to understand packet header to assemble stream from packets.
Actually there are few different stages:
1. detect handshake to start new empty stream within your code;
2. detect subsequent packets and assemble stream (there are counters within packet header and they will help).
After creating start of TCP stream (usually 1KB is enough) you'll be able to detect is it HTTP request/header or no and start logging or ignoring packets for this connection.

Not able to record EBS application using Openscript

I am new to Openscript.I am using Openscript 9.2.1.0 and when I tried to record the EBS application it's not getting recorded except for the webpage.Please help me out of this.

I think you must have selected Functional Testing (Browser/GUI Application) to be web while creating a new script. If that is the case then please try this. In OpenScript go to File-> New-> Select OracleEBS/Forms. Click next. Specify a script name and then click finish. Now try recording EBS application.

Oracle 11g R2 write audit record to application event log in Windows server

but some auditing record still keep writting to windows application log

IE6 Recording breaks application

I have been trying to capture a sequence using the
Agile PC Client (version 9.2.2.0) I start Captivate recording, and
launch the Agile application, and get to my home page... now the
problem starts, when I select to open a new object ( new web form
page) Agile launches the web page, but Adobe Captivate prevents the
content from loading in the web form object page. It just locks up
with "Loading web page" I have tried this with many variations of
agile objects and it seems to be a consistient problem...one would
expect that this should not happen....I am using IE (company
requirement) and Java 1.6, Firefox, Safari or other application is
not an option.

I had a similar problem recording Vignette, which uses
multiple pop up windows and JavaScript.
The workaround: use Safari.

Disable restart and state record in Application Engine

can any one explain me elaborately about disable restart check box in advanced properties of an ae program ? What s the relation for this check box with state record of types i.e sql table or derived work record

When you set the application engine to enable restart your state record needs to be a database record, so that the application eninge can continue where it left off with all values in the state record on that state.
When you set the application engine to disable restart your state record can be a work record, because the application engine will always restart from the beginning, not using any variables from the staterecord.

Is extracting AIFF files from Recorder iPhone application possible?

I'm using the iPhone app Recorder and it utilizes an email client to send the recorded aiff files. Unfortunately, they currently have a 2 minute limit on the recordings that can be emailed from your iphone.
I have some recordings on the iPhone that I really want off it. How would I go about doing this?
*Is there an another application I can purchase that can find the files and then extract them to my computer?
*Do I need to hack the iphone? If I need to hack into it, what would be the best route?
*Am I just out of luck until they update the application?
I'm satisfied with my 2.01 and At&t so my only reason for breaking into it would be to get these files. I don't want to change things too much.
I appreciate any help offered.

Well the one that's used most is Ambrosia's Snapzpro. It's been around a long time and works quite well. It however is rather expensive.
There is another. It's call iShowU and it works well too. Not to mention it's a lot cheaper.
I used to have a license to Snapzpro but it expired versions ago and I've been iShowU and it's served me well.

Recording in Application Instance folders

I have an application running in FMIS 3.5. Everything is working. Now I want to create two application instances, one for a live stream and one for a development stream. That way I can test my application against the development stream without interfering with the application that manages the live stream.
So first I created folders under my application. Say the application's name is test. I created two folders, dev and live. Then I changed my Flex 3 applications so that they would write to rtmp://mydomain.com/test/live/stream. But the application still records the live stream in test, not test/live.
So I tried modifying the <Streams> element in my VHost/VirtualDirectory element.
<Streams>live;C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Media Interactive Server 3.5\applications\test\live</Streams>
<Streams>dev;C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Media Interactive Server 3.5\applications\test\dev</Streams>
I restarted my vhost. My application still records my live stream into the test folder instead of test/live.
So I removed those entries and restarted my vhost.
Then I added a folder called streams below my test folder. And I added dev and live subfolders below streams. I saw this on another post somewhere. But this didn't work either.
I have not been able to find the configuration element(s) that enable multiple instances in one application.
Am I missing a configuration parameter somewhere or is this a bug in 3.5?

I am publishing from the client. I figured out the problem with the help of someone at FMSGuru.com.
I need to connect to a url and application like rtmp://domain.com/test. Then I need to publish to the instance and stream like live/uniqueStreamName.
I was connecting to rtmp://domain.com/test/live, because I thought the instance had to be appended to the application name instead of prepended to the stream name.
At least I figured it out.

BPC NW 7.0: Limit of records in Application

Hello Experts,
I have heard that there is a limit of records in BPC application (I mean fact table records) till 4 millions records. Is it true? What happens if this limit will be exceeded?

I dont think there is any limitations on records in BPC. But yes, if there are huge records, then the performance to tool decreases and it takes loads of time in page opening, optimizing, sending data and also in displaying reports.
Therefore, it is suggested to keep data records minimum as per your requirement.

Client server http application

I must realize a client server application which comunicate using http protocol. The client asks for the hour and the server answer to it. It's necessary for testing our network. Which classes I must use? HttpURLConnection is suitable for this tipe of application?

you can probably use HttpConnection or HttpURLConnection.
i'm not too sure though.
if you run into security problems then you will probably have to use a servlet.

Is it possible to record windows application using Mac?

Here's what I'd like to do - I make videos of stock market charts
and the charting software only works on Windows, not Mac.
So I'd like to use a screen capture program to record videos of
the live charts on the Windows charting application, and then edit
those videos using the Mac Pro.
Or if I could use a screen capture program for the Mac and record
the Windows charting program, that would even be better - but not
sure if that's possible with something like Fusion or Parallels
(I haven't purchased either yet).
Is this possible? Which programs would I use for screen capture
and editing? Bottom line: What's the best way to do this?
Brand new to Mac so appreciate any help I can get.

Depending on the system requirements it seems like it would be perfectly possible to use your charting software and screen capture software within Windows via Parallels or Fusion. You just might want to check over at the web sites for Parallels and Fusion to make sure that the particular software you're using isn't problematic in any way.
Editing on the Mac would just depend on if the file format that you're creating in Windows can be handled in the Mac editing program you're trying to use. Moving the files over to the Mac apps would be simple.
I would avoid trying to use Mac screen captures to take video captures of your Windows window (yikes grammar confusion) unless you had to as it would be adding an element of difficulty but it may be possible. You'd probably have to do some experimentation as you're plowing new ground there.

Http application on non standard port

Hello all,
I am deploying an intranet web application. Its a war file. Can I use port 89 to enable the application for users? Is that port allowed? The application communicates via http on this nonstandard port
Thats a standard port used by "SU/MIT Telnet Gateway".
If at all we have to deploy applications on different ports what port should be used? I am not using websphere, I am using sun web server but I hope someone can answer this ...
My question again, if multiple web applications have to be used on different ports, what unix/window ports should be used? Are there any standard port numbers (such as any number after 1023 etc ..) that we can use?

it's a better idea to go beyond 1023. those are usually reserved.
pick one. tomcat uses 8080; weblogic uses 7001. we deploy different instances on weblogic and use other ports (e.g., 7003.) it's a deployment issue.
talk to your web server admin - they should know how to do it.
if you're the admin - go read some books.

Capital One has no record of application

I cold apped for Venture and Venture One last night within a few minutes. Both went to the 7-10 days status. Today I called the status check phone line and the automated status could not find any application with my social. When transferred to a reprsentative, she couldnt find any application matching my social, phone number, zip code or anything. Very weird. So I checked my reports and I see no pulls as well. My EX report is frozen but other two are open and I have seen folks getting instant approvals in such cases. Mostly just gonna wait it out and see what happens. Preapproval never showed anything, but am chalking that up to EX being frozen. Anybody else ever seen such a thing?

OFT- Recording Application which require User Authentication

I have recorded the application which requires user authentication and once the recording has been done i have logout from the application. and now if i playback the script ,then again it will playback from the login page.
So according to my opinion,it should skip the login page at the time of playback the script. But it is not. So what would be the reason for that?

Actually i have a confusion regarding this note given in the "OFTFunctionalTestingUserGuide pdf"
"If you record a Visual Script with a login Web page (not a popup dialog box), which may not reappear when you revisit the site due a session cookie, Oracle Functional Testing for Web Applications recognizes the cookie and skips the login page during playback. Oracle Functional Testing for Web Applications logs a message indicating the
login page was skipped and playback continues with the next page."
If i m not wrong, when we record the process of visiting the pages on the site from login to log out from the site.
and when we run the playback scirpt it should be not start from the login page as per the above mentioned note.
Could u please help me to understand the fact given on the note.
