Recording incoming Video Chat

I was wondering if there is a way I can record incoming video from a video chat (using preferably yahoo or ichat) so i can archive it for future reference?

Wiretap Pro will catch incoming audio. There may be something out there which will also catch video. Have an explore on versiontracker.com.

  • Recording A Video Chat

When I get in a video chat and press to record the video chat, it allows me, and I stop it fine, but it doesn't save on my computer.
    What do i do?

    Hi,
    This is a partial yes.
iChat can Video from a Jabber based Buddy List including a GoogleTalk one to another iChat Buddy who is using a Jabber Screen Name.
It can not Video chat to the GoogleTalk App on a PC as that uses different Video codecs based on the Jingle Protocols the Jabber organisation as a whole have developed.
The Google Web Mail site that also allow Chatting can do Video but this uses Flash to control the camera but iChat cannot Chat to that either as Flash is different from the protocols iChat uses.
See the options 5 through 8 and 9 through 12 in this section
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page5.html#_other
The first are cross Platform apps
The second set are web based sites that hold Video Chatrooms.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • IChat - incoming video chat not working

iChat - I can make an outgoing video call but incoming video invitations are not connecting.

    Hi,
Check your Firewall and or router.
The Firewall (If ON) works on the basis that you can call out but the incomming stuff gets Blocked if an App is NOT allowed.
The same can be true of the router.
If you don't specifically Open the Ports it can take the outgoing part to "open" them and accept incomiong data on the same port.
The Mac Firewall is in System Preferences > Security > Firewall
If ON you need the Options or Advanced button depending on OS version
In here you need to had "Allowed Signed Software and added iChat to the List.
In the router you may need to engage  UPnP if the device has it.
If not then you need to open:-
iChat 4 and 5 Ports for iChat
    Service
    TCP Ports
    UDP Ports
    iChat over AIM
    5190
    5190
    Bonjour
    5298
    5297, 5298, 5353
    Jabber
    5220, 5222, 5223
    No ports
    A/V Ports
    No ports
    5678, 16393-16402
Note this is the iChat 4 and 5 Range Add port 5060 UDP for iChat 2 and 3 and extend the group of 10 to 16384-16403 (20 ports)  iChat 4 and 5 also uses an undeclared Random port to do the Screen Sharing part and works if you can and do use UPnP (Or Port Mapping Protocol) to open ports in your routing device.

  • Recording a video chat. How do I make windows same size?

New to iChat. I'm recoding a video chat with my buddy. His image window is huge my inset window is tiny. Can I have side by side same sized windows? If so how do I do that?

    Hi,
You Cannot do side by side.
    The Pic-in-Pic is resizable.
It can be as large as a 1/4 of the Chat window.
Grab the corner nearest the middle of the chat window (It varies depending which corner you have the Pic-In-Pic which is moveable)

  • IChat immediately cancels incoming video chat invitations

This only happens on my iMac. My MacBook, which is on the same airport network, performs video iChats flawlessly.
When I'm on my iMac, if somebody sends me an invitation to video chat, I hear the invitation chime, but right away before I can click to accept I get a message saying that the invitation was canceled, though this was not the case.
So I move over to my MacBook and it works perfectly there.
Do I have a jealous iMac? Any idea why it won't let me video chat with anybody?
    Thanks,
    ==>Pete

    Hi,
In Applications/Utilities is the Airport Utility
Open this and it will show you on the left hand side a list of the Airport Devices it can see.
Click on yours and then on the Internet Icon in the tool bar across the top.
At the bottom of this pane it will either say "Share a Public IP" or possibly be set to "Bridge (Off) Mode".
    See this Pic
Also click on the NAT tab at the top and in the next pane Enable Port Mapping Protocol if it is not already.
What modem are you using this with ?
    Does that route ?

  • Enlarge incoming video chat image

WhenI am using YM, the imagoes the person with whom I am chatting is very small. I found where you can choose snail or large image size, but when I set it on large, the inane is only slightly larger. A friend can set his incoming image to any size he likes including full screen. Is there some way to enlarge this image?

  • Only 2 FPS from incoming video chat

My sister has a G4 350 with a DSL connection. Not the fastest, but I believe it's about 784 or close.
    She's running Tiger.
When she first connects to me, she's got about 15-18 FPS, but within seconds she slows to a screeching halt to 2fps or less. I have about 1.5 megs of internet speed and a G5 and can chat with others with no problem. I know it's her set-up, but I think we're still supposed to see much better performance than that, even with a G4. Yes?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
By the way... before Tiger, she could chat with me at about 12 - 15 fps.

    Hi, Ralph.
Well... there's no router, so that's not the issue. I don't know about the firewall thing, and the port thing is so confusing I'll never get it!
She was doing ok until Tiger, that's the strange thing. Why would she slow down so much? And why after a few seconds of good speed?

  • Record chat not seen as option in OS X Mavericks Messages when doing video chat

In OS X Mountain Lion when doing a video chat using Messages one can record the video chat. (assuming you have permission by the other party (parties??))
I do not see that option in the "upgraded" OS X Mavericks.
Is the lack of a record video option another "hidden" gem that Apple is providing us by creating "simplicity"?
Or is the feature still somehow accessible thru a more "simple" means other than the way it used to be in OS X Mountain Lion?
So, if Apple has deliberately and secretly removed this feature without telling me do you know of good screen-capture software that I can use as a workaround with regards to this missing feature?

    for the   Points.

  • How do you import a recorded video chat into iMovie 09?

I recorded a video chat, and I have tried to import it a few times, but every time it never imports and says there are no clips in the event. What do I do?
    thanks, Paige

    Hi,
I am having the same problem. The video I took appears as a .MOV file and nothing seems strange about it (plays in iTunes and iPhoto). I tried copying it to the desktop and importing, and that says nothing to import. It also does not appear in the iPhoto Movie browser in iMovie. Is there some sort of security setting that wouldn't allow an iChat video clip to appear in iMovie?
    I am using iChat 5.0.3 (745) and iMovie 8.0.6 (821).

    Keith

  • How can i set Messages to auto answer video chats?

I used to be able to have iMessages and iChat auto-answer incoming video chat/calls.  I use this to communicate with staff who may not be able to quickly accept the incoming event.

    Hi,
The AppleScript for this is still  there.
It can be set in Messages Menu > Preference > General Section in the bottom drop down.
The Sound/alerts pane has gone in Mavericks and sound can now only be changed for  "Messages Received".
Although I must admit to not trying it I have presumed the AppleScript would then only work for Text Invites.
Having said that the AppleScript should be able to run as a separate even like an App from the Dock.
The Drop Down in Messages has an Option to Show In Finder effectively.
