Recording more than one track at a time...

Ok, so heres my problem.
This is going to be my future setup...
for recording drums of course.
so I'm going to have around 6 microphones. A mixer, and i already have an interface. And of course i use soundtrack pro.
so if the microphones are all plugged into the mixer, and the mixer into the interface and the interface into the computer... wouldn't all the 6 microphones be one track on soundtrack pro? i mean... you can only do so much editing on a mixer. It would be very nice if i could edit every single mic separately.
so in conclusion...
i want to record 6 tracks all at the same time with every single track a different microphone.
if that is not possible, could somebody maybe tell me how i could do something relatively close to that.
thank you.

You have to set each track to a unique channel. Open track info and select Channel 1 for one of the tracks, and Channel 2 for the other.

  • How to RECORD more than ONE TRACK at a time ? ? ?

I have looked, read and tried - but cannot enable more than one track at a time... How do you do it?
I am using a Lexicon Omega USB interface. With two mics plugged in to it, I am able to assign MIC 1 to a track, and MIC 2 onto a different track. However, cannot get BOTH tracks to go "live" at the same time.
    Thanx: Stacey

"basic track" is a short cut. whenever i explain something to someone recording an audio instrument i always tell them to create s New Basic Track. it's simple, to the point, has no effects on it (and you can add those later, anyway, the BEST way to do it)
however, either would not cause the issues you're dealing with at the moment, both are valid. Basic just skips a step.

  • Is there anyway to record more than one track at a time on garageband for ipad?

Just wondering if that is possible or in the works?

GarageBand for iPad only allows to record on one track at a time. That is the selcted one that turns into the Instrument View where the actual recording is done.
If multi-track recording is in the works, nobody know except Apple and they won't usually pre-announce that kind a things. My guess, it will not be implemented.
    Hope that helps

  • How do you enable more than one track at a time?

Couldn't find it in the help portion of the program. I am beginning to believe I have an incomplete help document. Anyway, I want to record more than one track at a time, for example vocals and guitar, while being able to monitor them. Thanks. btw why is this forum so slow? It like totally runs fine till I sign in to my user account. Then it's as slow as a cyber snail.

Okay, I will try that. I have one last question pertaining to this. Will this work if I am using a condenser mic on phantom power through a midi device while plugging the guitar through the same midi-device? I will try a few things either way but I thought I might ask before hand.

  • More than one track at a time

I have an Allen and Heath zed 12 mixer connected by usb to my mac. can I record more that one track at a time using Garage band?

it looks like that is a stereo console which means you could record up to two mono tracks at a time:
    see if it offers more:

  • How do I record more than 2 tracks at a time with my new board?

I just bought a new Behringer x2222usb board and I still can not record more that 2 tracks at a time. Are there drivers out there that I'm missing? How can I fix this problem?

i'm afraid the only solution looks like returning or selling it and getting something else.  that console is described as having a [emphasis added] "built-in, bi-directional stereo USB audio interface..."

  • Editing (cut/paste/move) more than one track at a time

i'm new to mac/garageband and everything is going great so far. i'm currently using my fostex hardisc recorder to record basic tracks and then dumping them into my imac as wave files. i'm currently trying to edit a drum track that requires editing all 8 channels of drums. i can't figure out how to use the cut and paste feature on 8 tracks at once. is this possible? i read up on shift clicking to select more than one region but it doesn't seem to apply to the tracks. any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
If I'm understanding, you want to cut a part of the 8 drum tracks, copy it, and paste it to a different part, all in one go?
If that's right, here's how you'd do it:
    1. Select the top most track of the drum tracks by hitting the track header. This will be relevant in the pasting part. By hitting the track header, it will select all the regions in that track.
    2. Either shift click all the regions you want to split, or you can rubberband-select them if you have blank space available to do it.
    3. put the SPL where you want to cut. Then hit "apple" "T". If you want to have an endpoint, move the SPL to the place you want and hit "apple" "T" again.
    4. Click on the background of the window to de-select all the regions. Then either rubberband-select all the newly cut regions, or use the **** click method. When they are all selected, hit "apple" "C".
    5. At this point, make sure that the top most drum track is selected again. Put the SPL at the beginning of the place you want to place and hit "apple" "V".
    Hope that helps.

  • Moving more than one track at a time in track list

I have lots of tracks in my track list. How do I move them all down so I can create empty space for new tracks up on top, below the Global track? It seems I can only grab and move one at a time, which is not only incredibly inefficient, it messes up the order of the tracks.
Seems there should be a way to select all the tracks at once, such as by using the shift key, then dragging the bunch of them. But alas... I can't seem to select more than one at a time.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi winky333,
It is not possible to do this in Logic. I guess they do this based on mixing etiquette where the tracks are sorted by the channels or outputs. You can create a template that has the tracks you want where you want them as a starting point. When you add a new track it always adds them under the currently selected track. So if you want a new one in a specific location is easiest to select the track above it. It is possible to sort the tracks as well. In the local menu in the Arrange window click the Track menu and then choose Sort Tracks By which has multiple options such as MIDI Channel, Audio Channel, Name, etc. I think this is a feature that should be added myself. You can always go to the Help menu in Logic and choose Provide Logic Pro Feedback and submit your feature requests/feedback there.
    Cheers

  • I can't seem to get GB to recognize my Behringer X1222 USB Mixer. It will record, but shouldn't I be able to see and/or select which input channel(s) that I will record from? Can I record more than one channel at a time, and record multi tracks?

I can't seem to get GarageBand to recognize my Behringer X1222 USB Mixer. It will record, but only on the generic "USB Input, without seeing or letting me select the input channel from the mixer. Can't find any drivers from Behringer. How do I getGB to "see" the mixer? Thanks, I'm a newbie to Macs in genreal, and recording...

the x1222 includes a 2 channel audio interface, 2 channels are all you can get from it.
the most you can do is record to 2 tracks at a time; skim this tute to see how:

  • Applying changes to more than one track at a time

When I use Soundbooth I often end up editing about 5 files with the same changes, and each edit takes up about 30mins to complete. It would save me a lot of time if I could tell SB to either apply the same changes to all the files so I can leave it alone while it does that.

I don't know of a way to "apply" the changes to multiple tracks at once, but you can save the workflow of tasks and effects you apply, and then apply it with a single click to each file. This won't work on a batch of files, but it will greatly reduce the amount of time you spend "cleaning up" files one at a time.
There's a lot of help with how to do this here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Soundbooth/2.0/WS234A216E-B5B6-47dc-B21A-529534716DDEa.html

    Just what the subject says.
If I select a track, it sometimes plays the loop properly, but not always.
I've reinstalled the program, thinking that might help, but it doesn't.
    Any thoughts?

    What type of tracks?
Is the Bar Ruler a shade of yellow?

  • Can takes from more than one track be comped at the same time?

    Greetings,
I know that this question has been asked recently in this forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9527542&#9527542), but I don't think that the respondents completely understood the question... Or perhaps I did not understand the suggested solutions to the problem. I will ask the question in a slightly different way...
Suppose that I record guitar with 2 microphones (a pickup mic, and a room mic). The first microphone is recorded onto track 1, the second microphone is recorded onto track 2. Multiple takes are done in this manner. When it comes time to comp the tracks, how is it done? Can the takes from more than one track be comped together at the same time? I have tried to do this by grouping both tracks together, but it does not work.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

You had the right idea grouping the tracks together. You must make sure that in the group settings, the box titled "region selection (edit)" is checked. This will allow you to make the same cuts (or in this case, swipes) on all regions in the group.

  • Viewing More than one report at a time

Hi guys, i have an application developed with 6i forms, when i call reports, it shows up fine but users cannot open more than one report at a time. All opened reports are cued up.
Is there any parameter i can set so that many reports can be viewed at the same time. Am using run_report_object to call reports.

    Hi Darwin
Yes best tool is FinalCut Pro and it's MultiCamera function.
But one can do it in a fairly easy way in FinalCut Express
    • Drop Camera one clip into video track 1
    • Camera two => V-track 2
    • Camera three => V-track 3
Double click on the clip in track 1.
Now You see it in Viewer
Turn on Image + Wireframe (above the picture in viewer window)
Now shrink it to take up a Quater and move it up to the left hand corner
Repeat with track 2 and three but move them into a free corner
Now when You play TimeLine You see all three videos playing in concordance.
Now You have to move them so that they sync. I use a photo flash during recording
to get one white frame on all cameras
    Then to the edit.
Turn on Toggle Clips Overlays [alt+W] - this turns on the transparicy line in each
videoclip and audio level on those
I use the transparicy line and the Pen tool to increase transparacy to 100% on the
part of a clip I want visibly and drag down the other two to 0%
When I've done this trough out the full TimeLine
    • I go into each Video track and restore size to 100% and that they fill window
Now playback and see if You are satisfied.
Still - You now have to figure out on which Audio that works best.
    Good Luck
BUT in FinalCut Pro this is very much more better and most of all time saving.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Deleting more than one file at a time from Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 4

Is there a way to delete more than one file at a time from Zen Xtra? Actually, I'd like to delete most of the 800+ files and the only way I've found is to do them one at a time..! Help!

Either use finder to drag and drop those tracks onto
"Library" in iTunes' left "Source" column or from
iTunes Menu Files use "Add to Library ..." then
navigate to a folder that keep a yoru tracks and
    select that folder.
This did it! I was doing an "import" which would only let me do one song at a time. But the "add to library" and the drag and drop both worked. Thanks!!!

  • Want to delete more than one song at a time

I need to download the new ios 8.1.1 but don't have enough memory on my ipad. I would like to delete the songs on my ipad (school issued) without deleting songs in the cloud. I would also like to delete more than one song at a time. How can I do this?

If by "in the cloud" you mean iTunes purchased tracks, deleting them from the device will not impact that. You will be able to redownload them later. To clear all tracks from the Music app: Settings app > General > Usage > Manage Storage [under STORAGE] > Music > All songs [swipe to the left] > Delete
