Recording multitrack audio in Premiere Pro CC

Lately I’ve been doing fair bit of video recording, with audio recorded as multitrack with a view of remixing it in post production. The issue is how to sync it with video so I can mix the tweak the audio while I have video showing.
My current setup is as follows:
BMD Television studio –  vision is mixed live from 4 cameras and fed into BMD UlstraStudio 4K . Stereo audio mix is fed from audio mixer into UltraStudio and the video recorded onto MacMini
Audio multi tracks can be recorded in 2 ways - either as  analogue inserts from the desk into 24 chanel audio card ( M-Audio Profire 2626 with 2x Presonus 8 chanel analogue to ADAT convertors )
We also tried on the weekend recording directly out of Behringer x32 firewire output straight into MacMini  - seem to work OK, and bypassed the need to use M- Audio.
The software at my disposal is Adobe Creative Suite CC ( Premiere Pro, Audition ) Logic 9 and Cubase 7 plus the standard BMD Media Express, etc. Audio is recorded on another MacMini
Do I need to keep the MacMinis in sync while recording?
Someone suggested using something like BMD audio to SDI convertors and embedding the multitrack into video stream. Will that still give me the ability to remix audio in post?
My overall aim is to streamline the whole recording/editing process. I don’t mind if we need to purchase additional software/hardware to make the whole process better.

If your model number isn't showing up in Printer Setup then you need to install the drivers. After you do that you should be able to setup your printer and print OK. Make sure Appletalk is checked in Airport in your Network Pref Pane.

  • Working with audio | Learn Premiere Pro CS6 | Adobe TV

This movie introduces the robust audio tools in Premiere Pro. Abba Shapiro shows how to preview and trim audio in the Source Monitor. Whether it’s an audio-only file or the audio channel of a video clip, Abba shows how to enable sub-frame audio scrubbing and trimming. He also shows how to interpret clips to combine or separate stereo channels. At the same time, he introduces fundamental audio tools that are essential to working with audio in Premiere Pro.

Is it possible to specify what audio channels to capture during capture from tape? It seems Premiere wants to mix the lavaliere mic and camera mic into a stereo track all the time, and then I have to modify audio settings and force it to mono in the project. In Final Cut pro 7, I am able to specify which audio tracks to capture, and this simplifies things in editing. I cannot see anywhere to do this in Premiere....

  • Nightmare recording audio into premiere pro with Mbox 2 Mini  Mac OSX

I've adjusted buffer settings, power settings, and so on, not to mention watched two Premiere Pro tutorials on recording audio directly into Premiere that barely still apply, but adobe finds relevant enough to suggest.  I am using a Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini and an ElectroVoice RE20 Microphone.  If I'm lucky I get a clean track of audio for about 45 seconds before the audio begins to pop and crack.  In reading on Avid's forums this is due to a buffer issue, but I've since changed my buffer to every setting and still keep wasting time.  Does anyone have any experience recording directly into premiere pro cc 2014?, Anyone with an Mbox 2 Mini?, Do you have an audio box that seems to work perfectly with CC 2014?  If you have any insight on any of those questions, please comment below.
I've tried everything I could find and read about online, but at this point I have to give up before I waste anymore time.  I've switched usb ports, maybe is a USB 3.0 with 2.0 device?, I switched power locations, plugs, protectors, and so on, even USB cables.... blahhh
    Specs:
    Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
2012 Macbook Pro (Non-Retina), 16GB of Ram, dual internal SSD, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    OSX 10.8.5
Mbox 2 Mini, Firmware 1.4, latest drivers.

    Hi AbzZilla,
I was looking up this post and found you've a similar problem...
I was having the non-responsiveness with the above configurations in 'LE 7.4 & 7.4.2c (Mac-only), but I have now installed Pro Tools LE 8.
Unfortunately I still can't get the MBOX2 to work with the Mac mini 2, but the MBOX2 USB status alights now [i.e. it's very bright and now works] on the MBP 17" ...all with Mac OS X 10.5.6! In all previous Pro Tools versions it confirms support for Pro Tools and the MBox, with the Mac mini:
    http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/osx/os.cfm
So I too am 'stumped' as this is the brand new computer that I wanted the software to be operable on. I've swapped the USB cables (to check if it was a failed cable) and it looks like either a firmware clash or a USB-port power issue? I've also tried non-powered USB hubs... as it could be the later issue? So when I find my powered USB hub I'll let you know, ...if there's a change?
Until then... I Iook forward to further posts in this thread!
    Thanks for kicking-off the discussion.

  • Recording audio with Premiere Pro CS6

I'm a new comer to Premiere, having come from Final Cut.  I am trying to record audio into Premiere via a USB audio interface and mic.  I am able to record, but I want to know how I can monitor while I'm recoding.  I've already tried disabling the "mute input during recording."
Does anyone know how I can see my audio levels while recording?

Try skipping any special software and just use Windows Explorer (or Finder).

  • Audio in Premiere Pro CS3 appears on one PC, not the other

    Hi everyone,
I'm the Network Administrator for a high school and we have a digital media lab here using Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection.  All systems here are running Windows XP Professional and are on a Windows domain.  All users are standard users, with no administrative rights for obvious security reasons.  When I originally did the deployment of the lab by running sysprep on a reference computer and using ghost to deploy the rest of the computers, I noticed a problem with Premiere Pro CS3 after the deployment.  In that lab, none of the computers would capture video via firewire and the built in capture function in Adobe Premiere CS3.  I believe I have a post about this on these forums that was never resolved.  To get around this, I'd capture the footage for students in my office and then transfer it over to their network drives so they could import it into Premiere Pro CS3 and edit the footage.
Recently, the school purchased some HD cameras that record to a built in hard drive or an SDHC card.  The idea here was that the .MTS files could be copied from the camera to the computer running Premiere Pro CS3, the media files in .MTS format [at 1280x720] could be converted using KoyoteSoft's Free HD Converter using the settings MPEG2 [a preset], MPG2 as the format, 1280x720 // 16/9, 29.97 FPS, 9000 video bitrate, and 224 audio bitrate, and then the new media files could be imported into Premiere Pro CS3 and edited using the HDV 720p30 preset within Premiere Pro CS3.
This works great...on my office computer.
The problem is that if any student tries to import their footage on a computer in the digital media lab, the converted media files, the exact same ones that just imported into my Premiere Pro CS3 installation on a computer in my office with identical hardware as the computers in the digital media lab, fail to import the audio.  I can see the video with no problems in the lab, but no audio layer appears.  If I right click the video file and choose Open With> VLC or another media player, the media plays fine with audio.  All audio/video codecs that are installed on my machine are also installed on the digital media machines.  If I right click Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 from within a student account on those computers and choose Run As and use the local administrator account, Premiere Pro CS3 does the exact same thing, it still can't see the audio.  Adobe CS3 is fully up to date on both my office computer and all digital media computers.
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated, spring break is coming up here this coming week and I'll be here all week.  Hoping to get this resolved during that time so students can edit their own movies.  Again, video imports, audio doesn't.  No audio layer appears.
    Thanks!

See if this helps... To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • Crackling and glitches when recording voice overs in premiere pro cc

    Hi,
I am trying to monitor my voice overs with minimal latency in premiere pro. I know that lowering the buffer size reduces latency, but adds strain to the CPU.
The problem that I encounter is crackling and weird glitch sounds when I drop the buffer size to 256 within the ASIO settings. I find it odd that my CPU can't keep up seeing as how the resource monitor doesn't show 'CPU Usage' higher than 10%.
When I raise the buffer to 512, the crackling and weird sounds disappear, but there is a slight delay present in the headphones.
There are no plug-ins or effects in use.
Would anyone know why this is happening, or if there's anything that can be done?
    Thanks!
    Equipment being used:
    Audio Technica AT-2020 (USB Mic)
    i7 3770k @ 4GHz
    32gb RAM
    NVidia Geforce GTX 670
    Win 7 Pro
    256gb SSD
    2TB HDD

Yes. The procedure I went through was the following.
    1) Add Mono Track (Audio 3)
    2) Click on Mic Icon in Audio 3, in the Audio Mixer.
    3) Click on Record Button. Watch it flash.
    4) Press the space bar to record.

  • Multicam Sync using audio in Premiere Pro CC

    Hi there,
Just getting my head round the tons of stuff Premiere Pro CC can do.
I saw this video and this I thought would be great and a wonderful time saver:
    http://www.tricedesigns.com/2013/06/18/my-favorite-new-feature-multi-cam-synch-in-premiere -pro-cc/
In brief what we are intending to do is, using 2 identical cameras both with mics.
Cam 1 records the whole presentation.
Cam 2 at a different angle records smaller clips of the same presentation, some clips only a few seconds others a little longer.
I select both videos > right click > synchronize > check Audio and ok.
It processes both clips but then says 'no match found' even though I know there is. The audio is as clear as anything.
As a test all I am trying to do is sync a small close up clip over the main video.
From what Andrew Trice is saying it 'should' work.
I can't find anything else to suggest what I'm doing wrong.
    Any thoughts greatly received. Pete
[The term Premiere Pro uses is multicam sequence.  I've updated the thread title.]
    Message edited by Jim Simon

Ok I am really beginning to think I am doing something wrong here
Thinking I am not going to be able to sync using just audio I just watched this:
Multi-Camera improvements in Premiere Pro CC
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/whats-new-7-1.html
So gave multi cam a go. Added to video clips.
    intro.MTS is the main presentation
intro1.MTS is the small clip but at a different angle.
The quality of the audio is very clear and yet it could not be synchronized!
I get the failure message below.
Do the video clips have to be saved 'as' something other than what I have?
It cant be coincidental that I can't sync using either method.
I am using a trial of Pro CC, hope that makes no difference
    Thanks, Pete

  • Exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi there,
I wonder if anybody can help me out with exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere CS4 version 4.1.0?
I have a 3min long HD 5.1 clip that I need to cut down to 60seconds and add fade transitions to. The final clip will be used in a media player with very specific spec - the clip needs to remain HD 1080p with a frame rate of 29.97 and a maximum CBR of 38. The audio must be 5.1 aac. The format can be mpeg 2 or h.264. The overall quality loss needs to be minimal.
Up to now I have been cutting up footage that only needs to be stereo and I found the best way to to this while keeping quality was to use Prem Pro and export as mpeg 2 1080p 29.97, quality:5, bitratre: CBR 38, audio as mpeg layer 2 (as these clips were stereo only). These clips played back fine and looked great so I wanted to keep the 5.1 clip process as close to this as possible.
So far all I have been able to get from Premiere Pro is an audio codec called DVD_LPCM which the media player will not recognise. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to 5.1 audio so I may be doing something obviously wrong...
    - I have purchased the 5.1 surcode codec and its activated.
    - I have started a new AVCHD (I need 1920x1080) 1080p 29.97  project with a 5.1 audio master
    - The orignal file is an mpeg which I have pulled into PPro and selected Clip > Audio > Breakout to mono
    - I take the 6 mono channels in the project panel and put them into thier own mono tracks in the sequence.
    - the video I use is the original mpeg with the 5.1audio muted in the sequence.
    - When i select each track in the project panel and go to Clip > Audio > Source channel mappings, I see that track has already been allocated a source channel. So I go to the Audio Mixer panel and adjust the 5.1 panners for each tyrack according to what the Source Channel Mapping window has told me - Audio 1 is is L, audio 2 is R, audio 3 is LS, 4 -  Rs, 5- C and 6- LFE
    - I cut the video and all the mono track to the 60seconds I need and export using these settings:
    Video - exactly as before
    Audio -
Format - Dolby Digital, Codec - SurCode, Audio Coding Mode: 3/1 (L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs - 5.1 Surround), LFE: on.
The clip exports with DVD_LPCM 5.1 audio. Is it to do with the AVCHD preset? Could anyone help me get aac? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Using AME and the SurCode Plug-in, here's how the dialog screen looks for the Audio Tab in PrPro 2.0. It should be similar in CS4:
You do have the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in, right?
Good luck, and hope that this is helpful.
    Hunt
PS - note that in the screen-cap, I have composited the dialog box, as though it fully displayed, with no need to scroll it. Depending on your display, you may need to scroll, and your scroll bars will look different from what you see here - just ignore that part of it.

  • Problem when exporting audio from Premiere Pro v4.2.1 into wave 5.1 format

    Hello to Adobe experts!
After installing of last updates for Adobe Premiere Pro (v4.2.1) and for Media Encoder (v4.2.0.006) the was a problem:
Now I cannot to export audio from adobe sequence into uncompressed wave format with 5.1 channels settings. Source m2ts video files in sequence are with 5.1 audio.
    What I doing:
    1) in Premiere I execute "File\Export\Media"
    2) Export settings are:
    - format: Windows Waveform
    - audio codec: Ucompressed
    - basic audio settings: 44100Hz, Channels: 5.1, Sample Type 16bit
    3) After OK button it opens Adobe Media Encoder.
    4) After pressing Start Queue in Adobe Media Encoder there is a message "Error compiling movie. Unknown error"
In earlier versions it worked fine.
Can you help me with this problem?
    Alexander

Here are the options, from a sequence with 5.1 master track:
    and with Surcode:
Notice that first one does only give stereo as an option. Nothing more. With Surcode it gives you 5.1 sound.

  • XF100 audio with Premiere Pro CC

With Premiere Pro CS 5.5 and 6, my 2 stereo audio channels from my XF100 where imported as 2 differents stereo tracks on my timeline. Now with CC, I only have one stereo track, chanel 1 mono on the left and channel 2 mono on the right in my timeline. I use the Canon XF mpeg2 preset for my timeline as usual.
Can I have my two distinct stereo channels?

Yes I can do it with "modify" > "audio channels" in the contextual menu, but it won't help in the preference because the files are not a stereo media, they are just two seperate audio streams. So anyway, I can have it the way I want. I just don't like the new workflow because stereophony and channels shoud not be seen as the same thing. Thanks for your help!

  • Importing live video/audio into Premiere Pro 5.5???

    Hey everyone,
I am starting a Youtube channel and I am using a video camera with a seperate mic hookup, I was wondering if there is a way to hookup the camera to the computer and display the feed into Premiere Pro. In addition the files from the camera would go into a folder I would designate for all my premiere files. obviously it is not necessary, I could simply record and then transfer the file to my computer then import into premiere but I was hoping I could combine all the steps into one
    Any suggestions?
Would camtasia or another software be more useful?
Does anyone else have suggestions for possible easier ways to setup this up even if not involving premiere?

A camcorder with a firewire output connected to Premiere will allow the capturing of the live feed from the camera (assuming that the computer has a firewire connector.)
For capturing HD direct from a camera will need a Blackmagic card / box (or similar from another manufacturer).
I have captured SD video via firewire, so that works, but never HD - even though I have a BM intensity pro card.

  • Failed Audio in Premiere Pro Render

    Hi,
Im new here and i need some help.
This Question has bees probably asked 100 times but i need a direct answer.
    Computer:
MacBook Pro i7 with all latest updates
    Premiere Pro cs5
So i made a quick movie thats 55 seconds long and i for some reason when i chose the option to render a MPEG or MPEG4,  get no audio... the visual is there but theirs no audio in my movie...then i just render in .mov for now.
Can someone help me and figure out why my videos wont render with sound???
    I appreciate it!
    T.Nowak

OK, we have gotten the "easy things" out of the way, and sorry that it not as simple as choosing the correct Multiplexer setting.
    Let's recap a bit:
You have Audio fine in your Timeline. What is your source material, MOV/MP4? What are the Audio specs. for those files?
You are Exporting to MOV/MP4 from the Timeline, through AME, and this is where you do not get Audio.
Is that correct? What player are you using to test your Exported muxed file? Could this be an issue in the player of choice - a setting perhaps? Do other A/V files with the same specs. play fine in it?
Not sure which players are available for the Mac, but VLC Player and MediaPlayer Classic HC are both very good, but could be PC-only. Can you try another player?
Can you start a New Sequence that matches your Export file, Import that output file, and play it in the Timeline?
    Good luck,
    Hunt
