Recording my Keyboard Songs to Garageband won't Work - Help!

Everyone,
I'm trying to record songs from my keyboard to my MacBook via Garageband and I'm having difficulties doing so. I purchased a MIDIsport UNO 1-In/1-Out USB MIDI Interface cable in order to record these songs from my keyboard to my MacBook. I installed the driver and the software that came with this cable. I also went into System Preferences > Sound and, under Input, selected Line In under the Audio Line-in Port. Then, in Garageband, under new track I ensured I was adding a software instrument (the keyboard that was hooked up to my Macbook. Thereafter, I selected Preferences and ensured that the Audio Input was the built-in input. However, under MIDI status it says "0 MIDI inputs detected". On my keyboard, I ensured that the Host Select was set to Mac. Still, I'm unable to record songs from my keyboard to my Macbook. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off, you don't have to change ANY settings.
All those things you changed pertained to AUDIO and
Audio and MIDI are two completely different things.
You can set those things any way you please while
working with MIDI.
As to your problem, this is only a guess, but check
their web site for updated drivers. What came with
the interface may be outdated and not work on an
intel based Mac.
Post back and let us know what you find.
Thank you so much for that suggestion! I updated the driver and sure enough, under Garageband preferences, it says that 1 MIDI device was detected. But, I hit the record button and I didn't hear anything during playback. (Recording was unsuccessful). Any suggestions?

Keyboard lights up but won't work

I have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro with the 2.66GHz processor and 4gigs of ram. Yesterday when I was using it, the screen went yellow and the fan started spinning quickly so I turned it off. Now when I restart the computer, I get to the login screen, and the keyboard is fully illuminated but I can't type anything or move the cursor with the trackpad. Even my apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse won't work even though they normally would at that login screen.
I tried doing the apple hardware test and it said that there was no problem. The fact that I was able to hold down the 'd' key and get it to start the hardware test shows that the keyboard isn't broken, so I don't know why it isn't working.

Power button
If you press hold the power button for about 1.5 second slleep function will be initiated.
If ypu press and hold the power button for 5 secondsor more, Mac will shutdown.
Keyboard
Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14222
Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If this does not help, contact Apple.
A new Mac is in warranty for 1 year from the date of purchase.

Setting Keyboard Shortcuts for Services won't work

I've tried to set Keyboard Shortcuts for Services like "New Terminal Tab from Folder" but it won't work. I even tried it on my friend's machine to no avail.
Here's where I'm setting it up. And yes, I've turned on the checkbox & set the shortcut I want. I've even tried a few different keyboard shortcuts that are complicated to ensure that it's not competing with something else.
To note, I'm using TotalFinder but my friend, whose machine I tested this on, doesn't.
We are both running 10.8.2 on the latest MacBook Pro with Retina Display, 15".

I have a similar scenario......except my services that I created run one time, and then won't run again.
For example, I created a service to open a new blank email message for me to type in. I assigned Cntl-Opt-Comm-M to this service. I hit the key sequence and it works the first time.....the mail window pops open.
If I then close the mail window that it spawned and do it again, no mail window opens.
I also did this to create a blank Calendar event and also another one for Reminders.
They all run one time and then not again.
Any ideas?

Firmware upgrade for keyboard failed now keys won't work

Hope someone can help, I recently upgraded my sisters intel imac and during the aluminium (USB) keyboard firmware upgrade it failed and now computer doesn't recognise keyboard keys but usb hub on keyboard that mouse is plugged into works fine. Another keyboard works fine which was handy when trying to type in the passwords to try to re update.
I have tried the following
1) searched discussions found advice on resetting nvram, and in open firmware (which on further research doesn't seem possible on this imac?) did control, option P R on start up.
3) EFI firmware upgrade was successful
4) have used disk utility to repair permissions
5) Looked in system profiler and keyboard usb hub is recognised but no keyboard. When another keyboard attached it recognises this fine and is in the system profiler
6) checked all usb ports
Main question - can I fix or do I have to get a new keyboard or perhaps it would be less stress, time wasted etc to just buy a new keyboard???

call in at the local Apple Store or Apple Approved Service Agent.

Hp Pavillon dv7 keyboard and touch pad won't work!!!!

My touch pad and keyboard on my laptop will not work unless i how the power button for a minute while no power is hooked up.

The keyboard and mouse (touchpad) are separate devices which could go bad at the same time but that would be a huge coincidence. I would try reseating the ribbon cables to the motherboard for both. Here is the Service Manual:

IPod won't work - Help!

I only just received my iPod Nano 4GB as a gift and it won't work. It works fine while plugged into my PC, and I can import music from iTunes to it, but as soon as I unplug it, the screen goes a bit fuzzy, freezes and slowly fades out - despite the fact that the iPod is fully charged. It won't allow me to reset it (via the toggle button/Menu/select either, and it won't respond when plugged into the mails either, only the computer.
Please help if you can! I've never used my iPod and I'll be really upset if it turns out to be broken - especially as I'm from the UK and all of the complimentary helplines I can find on the Apple website are for US only...

It says I'm "not authorized" to play some songs, and they won't sync. help!

Ok, so I've been having problems with this before.. my iTunes would say that I was not "authorized" to play certain random songs for no apparent reason and I would authorize them, sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. But now I just got my new iPod nano and only about half of my songs synced to it because of this. So many of them "are not authorized" to be played! Does anyone know why this may be, or how I could fix this? I would really like to be able to listen to ALL of my music.

A song I bought didn't download due to it being corrupted and I've tried multiple times to dowload it again and it won't work, help?

I have tried to redowload the song but itnues keeps saying that I've got a corrupted file and to check for avaible downloads under store menu. I would like to be able to delete the song, with the corrupted file from my library and download a fresh one from itunes. BUT i don't want to pay any more money and tbecause the file hasnt downloaded all the way I cannot delete it. I want to be able to listne to my music so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Check that the ...\iTunes Media\Downloads folder is empty. Delete any files it may contain.
Delete the current copy and then download again (free) from your purchased history. If the problem persists contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

Using keypad on wireless keyboard to enter passwords won't work in safari

I have an iMac and I am using an apple wireless keyboard. Whenever I try and type in a password that has numbers in it and I use the keypad, the password is not recognized. I do not have the mouse function turned on. The keypad works fine in all other programs even in other fields in Safari. Just doesn't work for password entry. It will work in Firefox however.
Any thoughts?

Quit Safari. Disable bookmark synchronization, if applicable.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar. Copy the following line into the text box that opens, then press return:
~/LibrarySafari/Bookmarks.plist
Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the Finder window open. Relaunch Safari. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Test. If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put back the file you moved, replacing the newer one with the same name. Close the Finder window and post again.

I download songs from itunes and the I accidently pressed the icloud back up button and now the songs I bought won't work. How do I fix this?

Did you go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup and then tap the Backup Button?
What is the status of the songs on the iPod? Is there an icon by them? Are the grayed out?

Keyboard shortcuts in CS4 won't work! Please help!

In the last month I have lost all of my keyboard shortcuts in my CS4 program. I was using Windows Vista Professional - and installed CS4 in August. Everything was working great. Then last month, all of the shortcuts disappeared. I uninstalled/then reinstalled CS4 - still nothing. Have done that several times, and looked on the forums for similar issues, in the Technotes - nothing. Yesterday my office upgraded my system to Windows 7. I am on a new HP Elitebook - also purchased in August, so my system can handle the program with ease.
Anyway, I had the IT guy do a 'clean install' per most of the chatter online, so i went to install the program and the install came up with 'errors' first was that Adobe 9 was not installed, nor was Photoshop. When i opened up illustrator - poof - no keyboard shortcuts again. Please if anyone knows of something that I could try, I would really appreciate it. This is seriously making me behind in projects and am ready to throw my new computer out the gigantic window that is in front of my desk.
Oh, since this - I updated my graphics driver (per suggestion for Photoshop), unistalled CS4 - AGAIN - and am in the process of reinstalling. But I am pretty sure that the shortcuts will be missing.

My Garageband won't work suddenly? help?

I've been using Garageband for about two years now and never had a problem with is but now suddenly it just refuses to open. When I open it up it starts with the initializing and then I get the window saying the application has unexpectedly quit and I have to end up force quiting to close it. I've tried deleting just Garageband and reinstalling it and that didn't work and then I reinstalled the whole iLife 04 suite and even that didn't work. Can anyone help me out and tell me what is going on or how to fix this problem?

My iPod Mini froze on a song and it won't work no matter what I try!

It's frozen on one of mysongs, it's not on Hold, I pressed Menu and the middle bgutton together, I connected it to my PC and iHome and nothing happened, and nothing worked! PLEASE help!

Keyboard and all buttons won't work

HI,
so for some reason, all the buttons on my blackberry curve 8330 have stopped working. Not even one will input anything, including the mute button and the two side buttons. The trackball can still move the cursor around the main screen but when I try to click on anything with the trackball button or any other button nothing happens. I did the battery reset thing but that didnt help and I dont know what else to do. help!!

I'm having the same issue. My phone is locked, and the only thing it will do is light up (the screen will come on that is) if I plug in a charger or USB cable, and if I roll the trackball, the menu comes up w/ UNLOCk highlighted.
If i receive a phone call, I can answer it, but I can't END it...I have to wait for the other person to hangup.
I've done several battery pulls w/ and w/o the memory card in there.
