I have recorded a narration into my video in elements 13 and unfortunately I can not hear anything when it plays back. Is there a specific microphone to use for recording narration? Please help

Adobe Element 4 narration trouble

I'm trying to narrate in Adobe Element 4, but whenever i speak in the microphone, it won't record. However, if I have on music, then adobe element will pick up and record the music from my computer. I know my mic works because it works other editing problems I have. I think the problem have something to do with my ASIO settings in Adobe Element, because I was messing around with the setting and I was able to record my voice! But, I forgot what settings I used and now I can't seem to get adobe to pick up my voice again. Please help! If anyone has any idea what could be wrong, I would appreciate the help!
My sound recording device is RealTek HD Audio Input.

Thank you for your reply, I already have the lastest version of RealTek. Still no luck getting premier element to recognize my voice.
This is what my ASIO setting looks like. I think it may be a simple setting I have to do in PRE, please let me know if you have any other advice.

Recording Narration

When I try to record narration, I get a message that says "Cannot record because one of the record-enabled tracks is locked in the timeline" Please help.

Have you confirmed that the issue is confined to this one project? As a mini test run, can you open a new project and move along in it with the issue?
If you have not already, try deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file.
I am almost certain that with Premiere Elements 11 Mac the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file should be found
Users/User Name/Libraries/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Elements/11.0 Folder
Also is this an Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor from the Mac App Store or a Premiere Elements 11 Mac from Adobe. Lots of problems with the Mac App Store offering which is now discontinued.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Classically USB microphones do not work with Premiere Elements (any version) for use with its Narration Tool. Have you found otherwise?
Where is the noise - in narration clips produced by the Narration Tool or from imported audio files added to numbered Audio Tracks and/or soundtrack?
From what you wrote, it appears that the audio noises are confined to the narration being produced with your microphone and Premiere Elements Narration Tool. Is that correct?
Under fx Effects there are audio effects that you can explore to reduce noise. See Reference Effects Adobe document for a description of the fx Effects audio effects.

If you use the same microphone and create your narration in Audacity and import that narration into a Premiere Elements project, do you get noise in your narration?

Besides making sure that your microphone is compatible with Premiere Elements, have you evaluated your narration recording techniques...how close are you to the microphone, room noise level while recording, etc.

I have Adobe Elements 9 and I used to be able to export HD 1080p videos with no issue. But recently, when I export using H.264 MPEG or MPEG 2, which I normally used, the high resolution videos come out very choppy. How can i fix this?

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.

Recorded Narration Playback level

I am using Captivate 2
I record narration using a good microphone
while capturing Software Simulation of an Windows
application.
I keep my voice level during recording constant.
To explain different features of the application,
I have to re-size Panels within the application.
After completing recording, I publish it in Flash.
I have noticed that during playback, narration volume drops
drastically
when panels are re-sized within application. Once volume
drops
it stay at that level to the end of the presentation.
Audio is recorded at 64 kbs, 22.050 khz, encoding speed 9.
Overall Captivate 2 has been a very unstable, very buggy
software
unlike other Adobe products.
Any suggestion to correct fluctuating audio output during
playback??
Please don't tell me to upgrade to Captivate 3 -
I want first Captivate 2 to perform as advertised - at lease
do basic job of capturing well

Yes, it would be very nice indeed if software never had any
issues, but I digress.
You might wish to consider recording your audio separately
from the recording of the project. That's what we normally consider
best practice. When you think about it, Hollywood never records the
actors talking while filming the set. The voice is handled
separately. There is a reason for this. It's because you get better
results.
In addition to suggesting you record the audio as a separate
action, I've seen others suggest that the best results are achieved
by recording using a separate application. One such application is
called Audacity. The good news is that it's open source and one may

1. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running on?
2. With few exceptions, your computer does not need to be connected to the Internet to run Premiere Elements 13. You do for product activation and then later for first time use of certain features. Are you getting any MPEG2 Activation messages or something like that? Are you offline because you choose not to connect to the Internet or because your Internet service is not working?
3. What are the properties of this HD video that you cannot import into Premiere Elements?
Video compression
Audio compression
Frame Size
Frame Rate
Interlaced or Progressive
File Extension
Pixel Aspect Ratio
Much of that information can be interred by knowing the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the video.
4. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements?
Let us start here and then we can decide what next. If you are new to the program or video editing and do not understand the questions
or do not have the answers, we will help you with that.

You seem to say that you having problems opening one of your AutoSaves after a project crash.
Let us go over how you are trying to open this AutoSave file.
Go to the Adobe Premiere Elements AutoSave Folder and find your latest AutoSave file (MyProject-X.prel). Right click the file, select Open With, and then Premiere Elements 11.
Does the AutoSave open to a version of the project that you just lost when the program crashed?
Please let us know the results and then we will decide what next if necessary.

Hear my voice through headphones well recording narration.

When I record a narration using Elements 11 I can hear my voice, delayed by a second or two, through the headphones. I have tried muting the audio have checked all of the levels and setting both in elements and my sound card and this still happens. If I try recording with anything else, such as windows sound recorder, this does not happen.
Is there a setting I am missing somewhere as it is very distracting to hear yourself on a delay and makes the narration feature unusable.

I have concerns that you are not giving a valid Premiere Elements answer to a Premiere Elements 11 question?
Where in Premiere Elements 11 workspace Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio do you find an option for "Mute input during timeline recording"?
Consequently, I do not see any viable contribution here from you as described.
Further searching has indicated you are coming from some version of Premiere Pro that does offer that option that worked for you presumably
in your Premiere Pro audio issue, but is not available in Premiere Elements 11.

When you make a DNG that's like making another raw file, so you will need to convert the DNG file just like your original raw. Don't use the Save button in the raw converter. That's just a link to the DNG converter. Normally you would click Open instead and then save in the editor as a jpg or other image format of your choice.

On each computer:
Open iTunes. Select Preferences from the iTunes menu and click on the Advanced icon in the toolbar. At the top you will see a box showing the path to your iTunes library. Click on the Change button, navigate to the location for the library on your external drive, select it and click on the Open button. Note this permanently changes the library's location on that computer. That means you cannot access your music unless the external drive is connected.
If you don't want a permanent change, then press the OPTION key and hold it down while you launch iTunes. iTunes will then prompt you to select the library you wish to open for that session.

How can I record narration with no video or beyond the end of my video in iMovie?

I have a question about recording narration in iMovie.
I wrote a script to read as the narration for a movie I'm making. My thought was I could record the narration first, then add video to match the spoken words.
I've done this before in Sony Vegas on my PC and it worked out well, better than trying to speak to what was going on in the video after I record the video.
Unfortunately, if I try to record narration in iMovie without any video being there yet, it won't record. It appears I need to put a video clip on the timeline first.
If I put a short clip in and try to record narration beyond the end of it, iMovie quits recording at the end of the video clip.
So I went to quicktime and recorded my narration there and have 10 audio files (since I just don't seem to be able to read this whole script without making mistakes).
I then tried to add all 10 to my movie and I think it made me add a video clip first, but after I did, iMovie overlayed all 10 audio files on top of each other.
If I try to drag them over one at a time, I still can't get them to go sequentially unless I add more video to my movie.
There must be a way to add audio files or create narration without having to create a video file longer than your audio first. Isn't there?
I just can't seem to find a way to get the audio files layed out one after another without more video. Very frustrating.
At this point, I really want to know how to add audio files beyond the end of my video since I have them all recorded.
But I'd also like to know how to record narration beyond the end of the video too for future projects.

You could insert a bunch of placeholders in the timeline before doing the voiceover.
You can find a range of placeholders (they are actually templates used in iMovie Trailers) in the Maps, Backgrounds & Animatics browser. This is the last browser at the end of the centre toolbar, after the Titles and Transitions browsers. Click on it and scroll down to see all the animatics (aka placholders or templates). Drag a number of these into your project timeline - as many as you think you need to cover your audio.
When you've finished the voiceover, drag photos directly onto the animatics and select Replace from the pop-up menu. Adjust the timing by using the Inspector (double-click a photo to open the Inspector, then change the duration).

How do I find duplicates in Adobe Elements 8?

Like many others, I have tons of photos on my computer - many duplicates. My primary concern at this point, however, results from the fact that a cousin and I have just scanned over 1500 ancestral photos and documents, newspaper clippings, etc. from many albums we've just inherited. She numbered the photos she scanned, I named the ones I scanned. Now we find that there were many duplicates of photos between the two of us, and we would like to find those to reduce the huge number of files.
Does Adobe Elements easily locate duplicate images so those can be deleted? How about if they have different file names? Pleeeeeze tell me we can do this.
Also, does Adobe Element 8 batch re-name files, in case we want to do that in the future with these?
I'm looking at finding an easy and inexpensive (free? ) course for Adobe 8 as I haven't really used it that much yet. Some of the photos are 100+ years-old and will need some editing.

Don't try File>>Process Multiple Files to rename if you have already imported the photos into the PSE Organizer.
There is a FAQ on how to find suspected duplicates in PSE8 Organizer. http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Find_and_delete I haven't tried this so I can't say how well it works.

Error 1935 when downloading Adobe Elements 11.

I keep getting the error 1935 message when I am downloading Adobe Elements 11 program.

Is there anything else beside the number 1935?

To apply update, you can go to Help > Updates and there you can see PSE13.1 update.
