RECORDING NIGHTMARE

Hey everyone, I'm praying that someone can help me out with this issue. It's driving me absolutely mad. I am simply trying to record vocals over an instrumental in Garageband (only two total tracks). To get it out of the way up front, all of my volume sliders are set at 0 dB. I am using a USB microphone with a built in audio interface so there is a gain knob right on the mic. I have it set properly in order to make sure that the clipping LED on the microphone never turns red. So basically, I have 2 seperate tracks: the instrumental track and the vocal track. The dB meter on the instrumental track shows that the track is at the perfect volume. For the purpose of trying to figure out my problem, I've recorded my vocals lower than I would even like to and the dB meter on the vocal track is SUPER low-- so low in fact that the waveform is barely even visible. If I play the instrumental track by itself, the master track dB meter shows the same level as the track dB meter. If I play the vocal track by itself, the master track dB meter shows the same level as the track dB meter. This is where the problem occurs: When I play the tracks simultaneously, even though neither of them are clipping, the master track dB meter for some reason goes well beyond the red and the red LEDs light up indicating that the master track is clipping out. I cannot figure out what the problem is for the life of me. If anybody has ANY insight as to what my problem could be, pleeease HELP!!! If there are any other details you would like to know that may help you in assisting me, let me know.

that's not how things work, sound is additive (and subtractive). were your assumptions correct there'd be no need for the Master fader

  • Multiple track recording nightmare

    Hi there!
    Just got a Macbook Pro (DuoCore 2.0 gHz, 1 gb RAM, 80 gB 5400 rpm HD) and tried recording 6 simultaneous tracks with a Firepod on a Firewire 400 connection. BUT, Cubase LE and GarageBand 3 have been doing the dorks since they give me this kind of error message "The program couldn't continue recording because the hard drive is too slow or the buffer size isn't sufficient. Try augmenting the buffer size or check the HD blablabla"
    So, I checked the HD in the Disk Utility and it said that it was ok...Then, I augmented the buffer size to the maximum and downgraded the sample rate to 44.1 kHz at 24 bits and the message kept on appearing!
    Please help me, because I am seriously planning on returning the Macbook to Apple if it can't deliver the performance we require.

  • Nightmare recording audio into premiere pro with Mbox 2 Mini  Mac OSX

    I've adjusted buffer settings, power settings, and so on, not to mention watched two Premiere Pro tutorials on recording audio directly into Premiere that barely still apply, but adobe finds relevant enough to suggest.  I am using a Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini and an ElectroVoice RE20 Microphone.  If I'm lucky I get a clean track of audio for about 45 seconds before the audio begins to pop and crack.  In reading on Avid's forums this is due to a buffer issue, but I've since changed my buffer to every setting and still keep wasting time.  Does anyone have any experience recording directly into premiere pro cc 2014?, Anyone with an Mbox 2 Mini?, Do you have an audio box that seems to work perfectly with CC 2014?  If you have any insight on any of those questions, please comment below.
    I've tried everything I could find and read about online, but at this point I have to give up before I waste anymore time.  I've switched usb ports, maybe is a USB 3.0 with 2.0 device?, I switched power locations, plugs, protectors, and so on, even USB cables.... blahhh

    I was looking up this post and found you've a similar problem...
    I was having the non-responsiveness with the above configurations in 'LE 7.4 & 7.4.2c (Mac-only), but I have now installed Pro Tools LE 8.
    Unfortunately I still can't get the MBOX2 to work with the Mac mini 2, but the MBOX2 USB status alights now [i.e. it's very bright and now works] on the MBP 17" ...all with Mac OS X 10.5.6! In all previous Pro Tools versions it confirms support for Pro Tools and the MBox, with the Mac mini:

    So I too am 'stumped' as this is the brand new computer that I wanted the software to be operable on. I've swapped the USB cables (to check if it was a failed cable) and it looks like either a firmware clash or a USB-port power issue? I've also tried non-powered USB hubs... as it could be the later issue? So when I find my powered USB hub I'll let you know, ...if there's a change?

  • Envy x360 battery short and CMOS/RTC | No dedicated CMOS battery = Kafkaesque HP support nightmare

    Caveat:
    If I'm wrong about this, I'll eat my hat with a sauce made of ultra-expensive brand-name HP ink.
    Question:
    Does anyone at HP want to take reponsibility for a series of the company's tech support representatives giving horribly wrong hardware information, wasting customer time and money?
    Summary:
    1. I have apparently experienced a short in my main battery.
    2. In the x360, the real-time clock (RTC) and BIOS settings are apparently powered by the main battery, not a separate CMOS/RTC battery.
    3. (1) and (2) explain why my symptoms include a CMOS checksum error and 0-set RTC on boot.
    4. Three separate HP representatives have been absolutely insistent that:
        (a) I have a CMOS/RTC battery that just isn't disclosed in the service manual.
        (b) My symptoms indicate the need for CMOS/RTC battery replacement.
        (c) This requires a 2-week+  send-in service, even though I live right next to an authorized support center.
        (d) A much less intrusive main battery replacement could not help me, since I have a CMOS issue.
    5. I have already had to pay $54 and change for a local shop to confirm that HP support has been, for want of better terms, full of it -- they have been BSing me by phone and live chat, and there is no dedicated CMOS battery.
    6. Because of HP's intransigence, I now face the choice of either
        (a) paying another $54+ to get myself a new main battery on the open market
             or
        (b) completely unnecessarily going without my primary work machine for weeks in order to get a new main battery for free from HP.  That's assuming that the people at the service center know that replacing the motherboard won't do anything for this machine.
    Hilarious and/or Depressing Support Record:
    1. Symptoms
    This is an HP Envy x360 15t hybrid notebook, model u011dx (G6T85UA).
    It had been suspended but suddenly appeared off. It would not power on until AC power was attached.
    It showed a CMOS checksum error (502) on boot, and its real-time clock did not hold the time between power cycles.
    It had inconsistent problems with failed or severely delayed POST completion. 
    If AC power was removed during operation, it immediately died. Information about the main battery still showed up in the OS, where it appeared fully charged but never discharged at all.
    The light next to the AC plug would often blink blue depending on the power state.
    The machine could POST normally (except for the CMOS and RTC failures) with the main battery physically detached.
    2. Call ("Amit")
    I don't have a transcript of my initial call with HP ("Amit"), but here is the gist of it.  My 502 CMOS checksum error implicates the CMOS battery.  My steps are to attempt a BIOS upgrade. Failing that, the computer would need to be sent in for service so that the CMOS battery could be replaced. Amit described it to me as the shape of a small tablet.
    3. False Hope
    When I had initially called, the case was off of the PC and both sides of the motherboard were accessible so that I could try to see if there were any visually obvious problems with the CMOS/RTC battery. Naturally, I couldn't find it, and I had hoped the call would help me. In any case, Amit would need to call back in 60-90 minutes after I had the chance to take care of other things and re-connect the machine's components so that I could boot it and do a BIOS upgrade.
    Just before he called back, the machine appeared for one or two power cycles to have overcome its problem.  It even seemed like it was drawing main battery power for a few moments during a session with AC power detached. Amit closed the case for me pending the problems recurring.
    I concluded that one of the following two things must have happened. Either:
        (a) All of the problems were related to the main battery, and the main battery connector had just gotten jarred loose so that one or two pins were not contacting properly. By disconnecting and reconnecting the main battery in my search for the RTC/CMOS battery, I had solved the issue by reseating it properly.
            or
        (b) All of the problems were related to the CMOS battery. But by having it on AC power for testing for a little while, I had charged the CMOS battery enough to enable POST and for it to mediate the transition from AC to battery power (I know this probably isn't how it should work, but hey).
    I also updated the BIOS to the newest version so that I could ensure I was following the pre-shipment troubleshooting step set out by Amit.
    Fairly quickly after the second call and the closing of the case, all of the symptoms recurred.  I carefully re-checked and re-seated the main battery to rule out (a) above.  I then decided to run the computer on AC power for several hours to test theory (b) above. When this failed, I went back to the HP site and opted for chat support.

    5. I pay money to have the CMOS battery checked
    Clearly, I wasn't inspired by that chat. Maybe the rep was just wrong about the hardware. More likely, it was just my own ignorance that kept me from finding the CMOS battery, and so I would benefit from a real technician checking it, maybe replacing it or telling me I really did need to send it to HP for service, and also looking at the main battery circuit.
    A couple of hours and $54.13 in diagnostic fees later, I had my answer from the technicians.  My main battery had a short in it and needed to be replaced. There is no dedicated CMOS / RTC battery on this motherboard. The clock and BIOS use main battery power, and it makes perfect sense that the main battery fault would therefore include symptoms normally associated with a simultaneous failure of a main battery and a dedicated CMOS battery in another computer.  This PC is not unique in lacking a dedicated CMOS battery.  I could buy a new main battery for around $55.
    Obviously, I was now thoroughly upset at HP Support. With this clearly being a main battery issue and the main battery being easy for me to replace and covered by warranty, HP could just send me a new main battery. I wouldn't even care if they wanted to tell me that swapping it myself would void the rest of the warranty period -- better than going without my PC for weeks on end. Failing that, I would probably rather even pay the money for a new battery from a retailer rather than go through the stupidity of sending this PC in just to have the battery swapped out. But now I had already paid the equivalent of that new battery cost just to get the correct information about my hardware, solely because official HP Support had given me false information -- twice!

The initial one was going to take me through a BIOS upgrade attempt and informed me that if it did not resolve, it would need to be sent in for a CMOS battery replacement. I think I had already let him know that I had looked for it just to check if there was anything obviously wrong and couldn't find it, and I had wondered if there really was one.

When the main battery fails -- as mine has -- it will cause all the symptoms of a main battery failure *plus* the symptoms of a CMOS battery failure, since *the main battery* powers this board's real-time clock and RAM environment memory

    Update time!  I know you've been dying to know how this has been turning out.
    I provided all the requested information in response to the private message from HP staff. Nothing ever came of it; as far as I can tell, no real human being ever attempted to contact me after being "forwarded" the details of the case.
    Three days after I tweeted at them, @HPSupport sent me a series of public replies. In essence, they told me to abandon useless post-sales technical support and get information from HP Sales.

    Now, being the exhaustive give-it-a-try kind of guy that I am, I tried *both* the phone and the email path to support.  I may have been told once on the phone to try the email, but it's hard to even remember at the moment. I'll just paste the email outcome here.

    HP reps have directed me to contact sales support after others in the company were unable to help with a technical product question. I need to know whether the HP Envy x360 model G6T85UA (should be board 780958-501 and main battery 760944-421) has a dedicated CMOS/RTC battery. If it does, I need to know *where* it is connected to the board. This is a fairly urgent issue for me implicating a disconnect or swap-out of the main battery while AC power is not being supplied.

    Oh dear.  So technical support doesn't have technical information about HP machines, and sales support doesn't answer technical questions about HP machines and refers you to technical support. Brilliant.  But by this time, I of course knew better than to actually *believe* what someone was telling me, so I used the sales phone number instead.
    The sales guy was super eager to help, especially since I framed this as a problem of future use. I work on disaster vulnerability issues. If I buy Envy x360 15ts and use them in a place where there isn't AC power for a while, can I swap spare batteries into them without screwing up the BIOS and real-time clock settings?
    He put me on hold two or three times for what I was led to believe were very thorough attempts to get me a totally definitive answer.  And this is what someone eventually told him to tell me.  All HP machines ship with CMOS batteries.
    So I must have been mistaken all along, right?  The CMOS battery must have stopped working at the same time as the main battery.  It must just be that neither I nor my local repair shop could find my CMOS battery because we all have the wrong prescriptions on our glasses and contact lenses.  Well, there's just one small issue with getting to that conclusion: what HP told me about my machine was, once again, totally false.
    How do I know?  Because I still didn't believe HP, and rather than shipping my compter off for weeks in the big padded box, I ordered a new main battery for a total of just over $60.  I swapped it. Guess what happened, HP?  If you guessed, "every aspect of the problem instantly resolved, because there never was a CMOS/RTC battery in this machine in the first place", you would win a gold star. But I'm assuming you'd also lose your job, because this particular piece of information has somehow been banished and outlawed from the minds of HP employees and contractors.
    I wonder: would anybody at HP be interested in apologizing to me, much less in finding a way to make up for the $115+ I've lost because nobody at any stage to this point has been willing to act like a human being?
    BUT WAIT, THERE'S GREAT NEWS
    I shouldn't make it seem through this thread that HP totally lacks competence and doesn't care about me at all. Because within two hours of receiving the email from HP Sales telling me that they weren't going to do anything about my problem, I started receiving advertising email blasts full of great offers and promotions about  buying a new HP laptop and other great products! Yay! I guess I'm not invisible after all. And I'm sure if I bought *more* stuff from HP, they would take care of me then. Right?

  • 5.0.1 is a nightmare!

    I was an Android man, always buying the best Droids available. When the iPhone 4s came out I decided it was time to go Apple, so I stood in line early in the morning and was as happy as could be when mine was in my hand! The first few weeks were a total love affair, I kept asking myself, 'why did I wait so long to switch to the iPhone?' I was in love with my iPhone 4s... until a couple days ago, when I updated to 5.0.1. Now - and I hate to say it because it is a nightmare for me to have to face it - my iPhone is as buggy as my Androids used to be.
    My list of problems after the 5.0.1 update:
    1. SiriusXm app will not work anymore... This app has always been crappy, but functional enough to put up with the frustrations of randomly repeating audio and other rediculous, annoying problems.
    2. My AV adapter (the little harness that allows iPhone and iPad screens to be seen on your television) used to work perfectly before the 5.0.1 update, but now I am having problems with it. When I plug my iPhone into my HD TV it says something like, "this hardware is not supported on this device" or something like that. So I just kept plugging it in and unplugging it, and wouldn't you know it... after a few pluggings and unpluggings, it worked. This randomness is really, really bad form, and anything but elegant.
    3. My iPhone will no longer shut down!!! That's right, when I power down and expect the phone to go black, it reboots instead. I have done several complete restores on this phone, and nothing has helped. I have even set the phone up as a new phone and started completely from scratch.
    4. After the 5.0.1 update, and I mean RIGHT after, I noticed several of my apps had dissappeared. Never figured that one out, either.
    For the record, my phone never had battery issues at all... I was very happy with the phone before the 5.0.1 update.
    Apple, please either provide the option to go back to ios 5.0, or quickly release a proper fix for this phone... I am very dissappointed and frustrated, my elegant little iPhone has become so buggy, it reminds me of Android. And that's not a good thing.

  • Multitrack Recording - Which Interface?

    Hi Folks,
    I'm at the very beginning of set up and I'm unable to get to grips with understanding how to plug in multiple instruments into an interface that, once connected to a Mac, will allow me to record on separate tracks.
    I've searched many products but I can't seem to find one that allows what I want/need. I understand a USB will only offer two channels so that particular option is out (Line 6 TonePort UX8 I thought was the answer but it's only USB) and therefore came to the conclusion it has to be firewire, and if this is the case then i need to find a list of products I could choose from.
    The interface I'd like to work with should have individual volume controls on the front and at least four XLR inputs (and perhaps portable, even though a rack-mount may only be the real choice).
    Here are some products that don't suit (I think):
    Apogee Ensemble doesn't offer volume controls on the front of the interface
    Apogee Duets is only two tracks
    Line 6 TonePort UX8 I thought was the answer but it's only USB (it looked perfect although I don't need their built-in tones either even though it's great for latency because I wish to control everything in Logic)
    Does this suit me?:
    Focusrite Saphire Pro seems to fit the bill... so am I on the right tracks choosing such a product or are there many more I am unaware of.
    Is there a one page list of everyone's needs concerning this problem? A spreadsheet perhaps (or am I really asking too much?). A spreadsheet of products would be a brilliant idea...
    Am I missing something very basic and making it too confusing for myself or is this a standard beginner's nightmare?

    Do you think a PCI card would be even better? I already have a small Behringer Mixer (see above for the link). So if, for example, I were to record eight simultaneous microphones would they continue to be individually assigned a separate track in Logic?
    Do some cards offer more option than others?
    Does it matter what options they are as long as the two outputs from the mixer are connected (or do I need eight outputs from the mixer to the PCI card at this point?)
    The PCI card would be for either:
    1. G5 2.5 Quad
    2. Mac Pro
    3. MacBook Pro
    I'm confused as to the choices between PCI and Firewire interfaces, but it's a good thing... lol

  • Update query issue to update middle (n records) of the rows in a table

    I have a below requirement for that I gone thru one below appoch to fulfill my requirement.
    Requirement:
    I need to pull 3 crore data thru ODI, source table does not have a primary key and it have 200 columns with 3 crores records (it has a 25 columns as composite key).
    I need to populate those 3 crores records into target oracle DB but when I tried to load 3 crores at time I got an error so I approch incremental load, since for that I need to update for each 1 crore records with flg1,flg2 anf flg3 (flag values), for this update I have added one more column in source table using those flag values I can populate 1 crore records in target machine.
    Approch
    For aove requirement I writem below query to update flg1 for first crores records update tbl_name set rownum_id='flg1' where rownum<=10000000; and it updated successfully without any error, for second, to update flg2 for 2nd crore records I wrote below update query and it execute 20min and given *0 rows updated* Please help if below query is wrong
    Query: update tbl_name set rownum_id='flg2' where rownum<=20000000 and rownum_id is NULL;

    A couple of thoughts.
    1. This forum is in English and accessed by people in more than 100 countries. Use metric counts not crore. Translate to million, billions, trillions, etc.
    2. No database version ... makes helping you very hard.
    3. 200 columns with 25 in a composite key is a nightmare by almost any definition ... fix your design before going any further.
    4. What error message? Post the complete message not just your impression of it.
    5. Oracle tables are heap tables .. there is no such concept as the top, the bottom, or the middle.
    6. If you are trying to perform sampling ... use the SAMPLE clause (http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/select.html#sssc).
    7. What is ODI? Do not expect your international audience to know what the acronym means.

  • Need script to insert records

    Hi all,
    I have to insert table LOCAL with entire contents of table REMOTE, minus any duplicates. Both tables have identical structures just hold different years of data. End result needs to be 1 gigantic table of all years. The tables have 7 indexes on each. Each table has about 20 million records. Any suggestions?
    I do not know PL/SQL well. Given a generic script I should be able to figure it out.

    I'm sorry I should of mention that the year data in both tables are overlapping.
    It was recommended by the vendor to purge historical data off. This alleviated the bogging down of the production database with querying very large tables. So every couple years the database was cloned to an archive database and used for reporting purposes.
    The end result: we have an administrative nightmare. The goal is to get all historical data into 1 reporting db.
    There is actually 4 archive dbs I am trying to merge into 1. ie 1 database has some 2001, all 2002-2003, some 2004. The 2nd has some 2004, all 2005-2006, some 2007. This is a financial/payroll database containing records with many different dates. For example on the finance - this particular table I have requested for help om a query has 4 different dates - -transaction date,, approval date, a check date and a reconciliation date (which may be in that year or not, or never has been reconciled) ....
    This was the concern for the duplicates.

  • Multiple recording without comping and/or cycling

    hello: i've recently upgraded to 8.0.2 and some important things have changed.
    for example: i record and edit around 12 drum tracks at the same time and for every song section i record more than 20 takes each. that is for many purposes. now before upgrading i usually enabled every track record button, cycle, punch in and replace buttons that way i could stack takes over and choose and edit what i wanted and with ease. now replace button is for destructive takes and i don't use it anymore, just cycle and punch in or just cycle but the problem is eitherway logic compiles takes and is a nightmare! for every compiled track there are a big number of takes, edit them or just erase them is a huge waste of time. it is useful if i record one track only as bass or guitar players do. can you help me out on this? i don't want comping or any weird pseudoupgraded tools. logic platinum 6.3.3 is way better than this......thank you....

    What you are wanting to accomplish, can be done, but it is not necessarily a simple task and is going to require at least a modicum of programming skill. Filemaker comes first to my mind as offering reasonably powerful data extraction and analysis capabiity as well as the ability to store the transactions in a database and analyze the data in an almost infinite variety of ways. However, this will require the services of a Filemaker analyst and programmer to create and maintain the system. Don't forget the system will need almost continuous maintenance and enhancement.
    If you can change the way you receive the orders, there is a large number of shopping cart systems offered by virtually every internet hosting firm that can be adapted to a wide variety of marketing activities and they maintain staffs of programmers to handle the adaptation and maintenance -- at a price. 

  • Any change in the record path function in 8.02?

    Can you actually name the record path in 8.02 like we could in 7? Or is it still the same auto-name from track name nonsense that we have in 8.01? I saw no mention of it in the list from apple, but was hoping maybe they just left it off the list. I had to search for a misplaced file today and had to try to sort out 64 audiofiles that were called "Vince Ld Vx" from four different songs. I eventually was able to match the creation times with the hours I worked on the right song, but what a nightmare!

    Nope. They have not fixed it.
    I'm not sure they realize they need to fix it. But it's drivin me nuts the same way it apparently bothers you. Such a simple function, I can't believe they messed it up.
    Please - if any others out there are annoyed by the fact that file naming is so poorly implemented in L8, - leave more feedback for Apple. MAYBE they'll listen next time around...
    At the very least, it'd be nice if it worked like Final Cut Pro, which allows you to set a prefix for new files, so you can identify which project/song all your "lead guitar" tracks belong to.

  • New customer nightmare

    Below is email sent earlier this evening to the BT chairman.
    Dear Mr xxxxxx
    Having suffered poor broadband speed for a number of years, we as a family were very pleased to see BT fibre optic installed where we live in xxxxx
    In November 2013 we signed up to BT fibre optic broadband, home phone with inclusive calls and BT tv entertainment package.
    The broadband was installed on 5th December 2013.
    When ordering the service on the telephone, I wrote every detail down, all charges and particularly the monthly cost , so as to manage our limited monthly income ( we are a family of 6 , with 4 children and low income).
    It was very important for us to keep within budget .
    At this point I must state that we always pay our bills and our previous internet provider I was with for 20 years with mobile phone and 10 years broadband and never had one single problem - ever.
    Our total monthly cost to be paid by direct debit was £50.45.
    I was aware that there was "one off" charges, and we had already made a decision to pay these immediately, so that the monthly bill would be the £50.45 .
    We paid the one off charges and part charges incurred up to direct debit date.
    All good.
    On the 7th January 2014 I signed into my BT account and was alarmed to see BT stating the direct debit was £81 a month!, this is a huge increase percent wise, and one we cannot afford and certainly would never of signed up for.
    I rang BT and spoke to Xxxxxx on customer service, and he resolved the issue and said we actually have to pay £55 monthly.( more than we were initially told - but just have to swallow it.
    All fine.
    One week later - 14th January 2014 BT attempted to take..... Yes £81 out of our bank account.
    There was enough in the account for £55 ( we have bank statements), but not £81, so this went unpaid and we were told by the bank we had bank charges to pay now.
    The bank were sympathetic as it was not our fault and have reversed the charges.
    We did not find out BT attempted to take £81 until letter received on 22nd January 2014 and I immediately rang BT and spoke to "Xxxxxxxx", she was very good, understood, apologised and said it should and will be £55 a month.
    My wife paid £55 there and then on the phone and the BT employee xxxxxxx told me to cancel the direct debit to stop this happening again, that we have until end of February to pay £89.28 and when we ring up to pay this amount, go onto " whole bill direct debit".
    Ok.
    29th January
    Wake up to find all service SUSPENDED , no internet tv, no home phone and no broadband service.
    Rang BT , spoke to a xxxxxx - no joy, asked to speak to a supervisor and put through to a Mr xxxxxx of customer service, he was not a superviser and not much help and I insisted I speak with a supervisor.
    A supervisor called xxxxxxx spoke with me - went through entire story ( call ref number xxxxxxxx) and he checked previous calls, apologised and said service will be reinstated ASAP and everything will be fine and ring up and pay the remaining bill by end of February.
    My wife said fine, we will actually pay it 14th when we get paid. ( bear in mind up front costs actually meant we were in credit for service yet to use - as fees are up front).
    Phone was back on in 10 minutes, internet was off until the next day.
    My wife and I had now lost all confidence in BT as a company , the first phone call and various other initial people we spoke to were off an aggressive "you must pay x" nature.
    My wife is so mild natured, yet she had completely "had enough" , I said let's give BT one last chance and agreed that any further upset and we would take action.
    10th February 2013 (today).
    Woke up to find all BT service suspended again, no house phone, broadband or tv service.
    To say my wife is upset is an understatement, I just want "out" the nightmare that this company has bestowed upon us.
    I rang our previous providers orange this morning to see how we can go back to them ( as stated 20 years, zero problems) , told just need MAC code off BT.
    Rang BT and just given options to pay money until a further option comes on the phone to speak to someone.
    I asked for MAC code, and after attempts to ask my what my problem was??!!!, I just insisted that I want out of BT and could I please have my MAC code.
    While I asked the BT person to confirm the mac code with me, I was told I will be getting "charges", I said just the MAC code please - confirmed it with the person and as I attempted to say thank you and goodbye - I was told I will be getting "charges" again.
    I have removed and boxed up the BT tv box with remote and router.
    Please can you arrange for these to be collected from our premises, or send a pre- paid postage label and I will post them.
    I wish this to be the end of the matter completely.
    This afternoon we did pick up some forms to take BT to the small claims court - to tell our story there and stand up to this "corporate bullying".
    Please get this sorted out , look into it, we owe you no money - through payments we have made we have paid for the time we were with BT - up until you cut us off for the second time.
    Please review any or all recorded telephone calls in this matter.
    We have been "wronged" by your company .

  • Split a ";" delimited record using SQL

    I receive a string of semi-colon delimited data output by a third-party system. The idea is to drag this record into Crystal and match it up to some reference information in our database and then output it to a Crystal report. We have no programming resources available and don't want the users to have to drag it into Excel (or something similar) first as it would allow them to amend the data before it is reported on.
    So, our plan is to break the record up in a SQL statement, embed that into the report as a command in Database Expert and then do the joins to our database. I'm hoping some clever person on here can tell me how!
    The fields in the data string are variable length and looks something like this:
    W01.COMSTD;3503794;5003711;F01.ANNR;;0:00;;;0;280607;1103;280607;1103;280607;2359;0:00;...etc.
    I would really appreciate any assistance. I have looked at just using the split() command in Crystal but this makes my joins a nightmare.

    Thanks Jagan. The portal we use (a Lawson embedded version of Infoview) has issues running subreports and Business Objects have acknowledged its a bug... which kinda means I won't have a fix for a while yet. With our new system going live 1 August, I can't afford to wait.
    I was hoping to find a clever SQL statement that would do the same as the split function that I could use to split my data in a DE Command. If there isn't one, I may be forced to take the old RPG book out of mothballs!

  • Adobe CS3 - No record of purchase, how do I re-download?

    This is so crazy, I don't even know where to start.  I'll try in a nutshell:
    1)  I have InDesign CS on disc.
    2)  I upgraded to CS2.  I have record of all of that, and Adobe has my record of that purchase.  (Although I can no longer download from their site)
    3)  I upgraded to CS3.  Neither I, nor Adobe has record of that purchase.  I seem to have a vague memory of Adobe switching their client login/site/store, and after that, my CS3 purchase was wiped.  (But I never dealt with it b/c I stopped freelancing  to have children)
    So now, all my freelance files are in CS3.  Clearly, I cannot use a prior version (CS2) to access any of these files.  Also, I have just viewed Adobe's policies on upgrading to CS6 or Cloud, and you have to have purchased CS3 (which I did but have no record of). 
    How do I, if at all, ever find record of my CS3 upgrade?  And then of course can I re-install?  Adobe says they only keep downloads for 3 years.  I have tried to find a way to directly email/contact/phone Adobe, and they just refer me back here to the "community" -- it's really maddening, all of it!
    If anyone has a clue on what direction to steer me, I would be very appreciative.

    I found the order.  I have a paper copy of the order.  Receipt date, order #, $amount -- purchased from adobe store north America.  There is no serial number.  (I can only imagine the customer service nightmare involved in trying to explain this to anyone at Adobe customer service, "Yeah, I ordered CS3 upgrade back in 2007 but you don't show any record I ever purchased it.  And, oh yeah, I have a paper receipt but no serial number" 
    Wondering if you think it's worth it to pursue adobe to get the serial number and try installing CS3 on my windows 8.1?  You said it works on your system.

  • Copy a record to create a new "version"

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on the best way to tackle the following:
    I have a table with a list of software versions (and details about each version), when a piece of software is upgraded i don't want to simply change the version number. Instead i have a field called "Current" which is either 1 or 0 depended on if the software is the current version in use. The basic idea is to form a list over time of current software version, and versions we used to use.
    I would like it so the person doing the upgrade can go to the software version table, click an "upgrade" button which changes the "current" field to 0 and then creates a copy of the record in which the current field is 1 and the user is the presented with a form to update anything which is different from this version to the last (typically the version number but sometimes more).
    So basically the old version is archived, a new record is created which is an exact copy of the old one (new primary key obviously), which is then updated as required.

    I've created a link to "upgrade" the software, which appears in a new column at the end of each row, and have written the copy code as a page process... now i need to know is possible to set a condition which applies to links/buttons been clicked within a table.
    So the process only runs when the user clicks the upgrade link on the report.

    Thanks for your response Mike, exactly what i need.
    Just a few questions.
    I have set the upgrade link to go to the "edit software" page passing a variable that gets set to UPGRADE. But trying to do several actions at the beginning of the new page was proving a nightmare,
    is the way you have suggested as follows:
    Click link -> Create New Row -> update old row
    MOVE TO EDIT PAGE
    Load new software details.
    If so, then the real question is, how do i make the page process that is running "on submit" only run when the link "upgrade" is clicked. Upgrade is technically a link not a button so i cannot select it from the list of buttons on the condition page, and i'm not sure if you can use passed variables until you load the new page.

  • Stop Recording bug?

    I searched the forum a bit and didn't find this mentioned: I'm using Logic Studio 8 with a Tascam DM4800 which provides Machine Control of Logic (control surface and transport control). Several times when I've been recording I push the "Stop" button on the Tascam and Logic stops recording then restarts. Repeated pushing of the Stop on the Tascam or the Stop in the Transport controls of the software have no effect; it simply stops and then restarts recording. The only solution I've found is to push Apple-Q several times in between pushing Stop so that during a pause it quits and then I restart the program.
    If anyone has a solution it would be most appreciated.

    I was aware that pressing STOP twice will return to the beginning of a piece. The problem with the STOP button not responding properly is intermittent, but it happens a lot. When you are trying to punch record, it is a nightmare. Also, I can never get the meters in logic to mirror the DM4800, and vice versa. I have spent hours on the phone with Tascam, and they walk me through different board configurations, but as I have said, they never stay put. I will end a session, go back another time, and need to reconfigure everything before I can start my project. If you have any insight at all as to what may be wrong, and/or how to correct this, PLEASE advise asap. Again, Tascam blames Logic, and Apple blames Tascam. I am caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place.
