Recording on a Soundblaster to MediaSou

I'm having trouble using MediaSource (version 2.0.04) for recording. I have no problems recording my digital piano in MediaSource, using both the "Line In" and "What U Hear" settings, but when I try to record my guitar (using an actual guitar pickup) or a mic (talking into it), it records extremely quitely. Even at 00% recording and 00% sound output ... I literally have to max out my speakers output to even hear it at all, which isn't good as I want to record both my piano & guitar simultaneously, and there's no way I will ever hear the guitar this way.
I operate on Windows XP, but that hasn't been causing any problems as far as I can tell.
Has anyone else run into this problem, or have an idea how to fix it's
Thanks in advance!
Kaylendra

I think you're in the wrong forum as this is for MP3 players. If Creative don't move the post try reposting in a soundcard forum.

  • Recording problem with SoundBlaster X

    Hello everyone,
I am running a X-FI sound card which is on my motherboard (MSI P6N Platinium).
I always had MSI boards with integrated soundblaster cards, and I used to plug my guitar directly in the microphone input and record.
Since I got this new board with the X-FI card, I have latency when I play my guitar. The sound has around half a second delay before it gets to the speakers.
I never had such a problem with my other motherboards/soundblasters.
I tried with the front panel mic, and also with the back panel one. The problem with the back panel is that when I plug my guitar in, it doesn't allow me to output to the normal 5. speakers, I have just the option to should Digital output...
Does anyone have an idea on something I should look for in the setup?
    I am running a:
    Intel Dual Core 6600
MSI P6N Platinium with integrated SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Audio
    2GB Geil sync RAM
    Nvidia 8800GTX 768Mb Video Ram
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Hmm.. IIRC, X-Fi Xtreme Audio?doesn't have nati've ASIO?drivers so, if you like to?use lower latency (less delayed), you'll need to either?- install asio4all dri've and use asio compatible software for to input the signal?or?- use WDM/KS capable software for to input the signal?ASIO4ALL driver http://www.asio4all.com?ASIO capable Host? software:VSTHost - http://www.hermannseib.com/english/default.htm?(you need to add least one effect plugin to get signal out ... effevts can be found from KVR http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php)?Reaper?- http://www.cockos.com/reaper/?(support for WDM/KS and ASIO, use WDM/KS with settings 4 buffers x?256 - 52 samples)?jutapa

  • Where do I get the first version of creative recorder for my Soundblaster Live! Platin

    Hi there,
I would like to install the 2.00.34 version, but first I need the first version.
I cannot find it in the download area.
    greetz!!!

This is because the directions you are seeing are out of date. They applied to Firefox < 10.
The only way to get data out of the Firefox for Android profile is to use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/copy-profile/
This data is not directly importable into Firefox desktop. It would require some inspection of the SQLite databases to accomplish what you want to do.

  • Reinstalled drivers Recording is distorted. Playback of existing files fine. SoundBlaster Live

I got a new motherboard an ABIT Socket A with an AMD 3000+ processor and gig of memory. After installing drivers 'Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe' and also after installing patch 'Li'veDrvPack_Patch.exe' recording is distorted. The input level is not clipping but the playback of the new recording is horribly distorted. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers over and over and it just won't work. The playback of existing files is fine. Have duplicated problem with both ACID 4 , ACID 5, and microsoft sound reocorder, so I would assume it can't be an issue with recording software. I have the problem with a guitar plugged into the Mic and Aux2 inputs of the li've dri've as well as when recording 'What you Hear' with Winamp playing, so that rules out the li've dri've inputs. Has anyone had this same issue? I am going insane with this one. I had installed the KX drivers previously but found the interface awkward so I uninstalled them. I dont think that is the issue, since I have uninstalled them, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the Creative drivers a few times since. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Yes exactly as you mentioned. I have SoundBlaster Li've! 24-Bit Internal and facing the same problem. All is working very good, but only sound in WOW is terrible: it's muffled, degraded and seems to runs only in 22khz.
It is a big irony because i bought this card only for WoW to replace my onboard card and now the old one sounds much better in WoW as the new SB
    Anyone with help?
Now it seems that I return my card like you... and people from creative, think about it! WoW is most played game ever!Message Edited by magnetique on 0-06-2006 :24 AM

  • I am Fed up with my Soundblaster X-Fi's Recording

I am very frustrated with my X-Fi soundblaster. I can't record music and get li've playback at the same time. When I have a line in and record, there is about a .5 second delay from the music being played and the music playback from the PC speakers.
Why is there a lag? I bought this card to record music, and it's not working correctly. My built in soundcard on the motherboard was working better. Please help me eliminate recording lag.

Joey, the lag is not coming from my recording software. I'm using Adobe Audition.
It doesn't matter if i'm in the recording software or not, if i play audio that is to be recorded, there is a .5 second delay from the recorded music and the sound coming from my pc speakers. This was never the case before i purchased the Soundblaster X-Fi card. I used to use my default on board sound to record and it was a "li've" recording.
I invested money to get higher recording quality with the x-fi card, but i did not expect it to be on a delay. Thoughts?

  • Sound Lag on Recording with Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium

Hiya, I've got a Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium but I'm having some trouble. When I put my mixer into the linein/mic port -- and put it on speaker to hear it, whenever I play something it comes out of the speakers like half second later. I tried recording in a music program and same thing, it has big lag. Anyone know how I can resolve this? Thanks a lot really appreciate it

  • Soundblaster 4 & recording latency Issues

Hi. I'm new to this board and to Soundblaster. I'm hoping that its ASIO capabilities can resolve recording latency issues I'm having. I'm a voice over actress and singer and need to hear myself over the headphones while I'm recording in real-time. I have a split-second delay in the headphones, making it impossible monitor live. I have a brand new PC and just installed the SoundBlaster Audigy 4 card yesterday. I have several recording/editing programs (Acid Pro 3, Audacity, Cakewalk Express) and can't get it to work correctly.
I downloaded a program from asio4all, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Can someone wiser than myself help me resolve this issue?
    Thanks!

Does any of your software support ASIO (eg. ACID 3 PRO since Audacity and Cakewalk Express don't support)?
If not, since you propably are familiar w/ ACID, you can download a freeware version of Sony ACID 5 Express to get ASIO supported. It's a bit limited from PRO but least it's newer than v3 that you listed.
There are other similiar software available as freeware (some don't have MIDI features):
    Kreatives Kristal - http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/
    Mutools Luna FREE - http://www.mutools.com/products.html
Cockos Reaper (free up to version 0.999) - http://www.cockos.com/reaper/index.php

  • Recording live music with Soundblaster X-Fi Xtr

    Hi,
My new Dell shipped with a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme. I told the sales rep I wanted to record li've music into it, and wanted a card with a MIDI port - he said this was the card I needed but now it's arri'ved it hasn't got a MIDI port at all, just mic/line in, and digital in/out as well as the speaker outputs. I'm gonna have to buy an external audio board it seems... In the meantime I want to at least record some basic stuff but I can't work out (I'm new to this) how to overdub. Since I've only got the one line in for my instruments and vocals I want to be able to record over existing tracks I've saved - will someone please tell me how to go about this cos I've looked in all of the help menus and opened all of the software that shipped with it and can't find the right option. I thought it should be possible to achieve in WaveStudio, but this seems to just record over my existing track, not overdub it. Sorry if it's a really obvious question but it's driving me nuts.
Also - any clues as to why an AWFUL, piercing, electronic whine should come through my speakers occasionally when I click on a button in a website, or open a program? Doesn't seem to follow a particular pattern, which makes it difficult to predict. Most unpleasant...
    Thanks!

    sorry, i overlooked the psu,
    the sticker says 550w psu : +3.3v - 30a, +5v - 35a, +12v - 20a
yes the onboard sound is disabled, as is the onboard modem.
I've tried it in slot 3, as well as all other slots and I get the same symptoms in each, I suspected an IRQ conflict to start with, possibly with the IDE controller but with it happening in everything slot I ruled that out for now.
What about changing the PCI latency clock etc... would that have an effect on the card?
I asked the question on the creative labs forum and a user suggested changing the PCI IRQ pool options in the bios but that didnt seem to have any effect either. Im close to giving up with this card but that would be a waste of money til I could afford a new board, CPU etc...
I'd be happier having a bios upgrade than have to change all the settings but I understand this probably isnt going to happen due the age of the motherboard. Funnily enough I havent had any faults using vista other than this, and as I stated I have also tried it with XP Pro SP2.
thanks for your help, and any other help you can offer. Im quite an experienced computer user so get technical if you need to

  • "Stereo mix" or record what you hear... Soundblaster u

With my onboard audio there is no "stereo mix" or record what you hear option in the recording control ...So when I am listening to an audio feed I can not record it with Adobe audition (as I can with another computer)
If I disable onboard audio and add a sound blaster 24 USB card will I have that function?Message Edited by k2koq on 0-22-200707:49 PM

I will answer my own question:
Just got the Blaster Li've 24 USB..
    Installation...easy
    sound ...excellent
Does it record what it hears..YES!
    thank you soundblaster.

  • Using Soundblaster MP3 to Record Live Dj s

I'm trying to record a li've Dj set using my laptop, a mixer, and 2 tables. Since my laptop doesn't have true audio out I bought the Soundblaster MP3, and some medium sized Numark powered speakers. I can use the speaker with just the tables, or just the laptop and everthing works great. But when connect my laptop and my mixer with Soundblaster I get a very annoying hum in my speakers. What can I do about this?

    pksdabombdj wrote:
are you using any kind of power filtering? Sometimes just reversing a two prong plug will solve the problem. Could be a ground loop somewhere too. There is a really cool hum tap from ebtech out there as well. good luck!

  • HELP! My soundblaster 5.1 records at SUPER low levels

i just bought a soundblaster li've! 5. on saturday... and since then, i've been trying to record with my microphone... but... for some reason, the volume level records too low. Even with the microphone boost checked off... and the mic volume all the way up. I thought it was the mic, so i got another one... same problem.
    I'm running:
    Windows XP Professional SP2
    Athlon XP 2600+
    .0 GB Ram
    NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
    on an ECS L7S7A2 motherboard.
Any solutions or anyone else experiencing these problems?

    P-Hill,
This type of microphone has a higher impedance than condenser microphones and usually requires a mic pre-amp in order to get a decent audio volume with it. You might want to look into getting a preamp for it so you can run through the line-in as the power that is provided over the mic input is not enough for a dynamic microphone.

  • No sound during record with soundblaster for Vi

I have Windows Vista and am using Audigy Advanced MB Sound Blaster Wave Studio to record music from a multi-track recording source. Wave Studio records it just fine and will play it back well, but I can't hear the music while I'm recording it, which is necessary for me to hear levels of various instruments as they appear in the song, etc.. I've spoken with Dell and Creative and both sides tell me the other one is responsible for support for this item. I find it hard to believe Creative doesn't support it's own product, or at least supply me with an instruction manual.
Does anyone know of this problem, and is there a fix for it's? Neither Dell nor Creative are helping me in the least bit. P.S. This feature did work on a previous version of the Creative software on a previous computer that ran Windows XP. Now I've got a new computer with Vista, and a new Creative software disk that is made for Vista. Any suggestions??

Thanks. It worked. I was equally frustrated. I just followed your text and now, hopefully, we are back on track!
    Many thanks for your posting.

  • Recording on MediaSou

I'm trying to convert old records into mp3, and on my laptop that has windows 2000 when I go to pick a recording source the recording source button is grayed out and I can't pick a recording source. I know its my line in is working. any help is appreciated.

MediaSource's record works on my notebook which has non-Creative audio chip. So, MediaSource should be able to record on any sound device.
    Can Microsoft Recorder works?

Help please! Then connected external soundcard?to the notebook USB-USB as per manual. I have tried Creative's Smart Recorder but it shows no sound coming through on Analysis (same with Audiograbber software too). Sound card diagnostics show sound card OK and I can plug in headphones and get output. I am thinking hardware connection issue as I connected direct from turntable to microphone input &?got loud mike low quality recording but I ustand this is not recommended as can blow sound card (and poor receording anyway)? Is there another device I can easily plug into line in to test - or any other ideas gratefully received.

Have you tried by installing www.asio4all.com drivers and then by using some?ASIO capable recording software as like Kristal, VSTHost, Reaper, etc (there are many others available)?jutapa
