Recording on DVD - "Unable to recover TOC" error

Hi all
Whenever I try to record on a DVD a face "Unable to recover TOC"
I've tried to change the recording speed but no use.
When I go to DVD properties and click on enable recording it does not recognize the DVD or any other CD in the drive.
Please some help

Hi,
1. What software do use to burn cd/dvd disks? Try to use Nero, Ashampoo burning studio, Alcohol CD and DVD Burning Software,
2. Then, I advise you to use high quality medias as TDK or Verbatim.
3
Go to device manager and remove the CD/DVD drive from the device list.
Then access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Reboot the notebook and wait until the CD/DVD drive would appear again
If you still have problems, maybe there is a problem with your cd/dvdrom

  • I am unable to import recording from DVD to iMovie so that I can edit it.

I am unable to import recording from DVD to iMovie so that I can edit it. Any suggestions?

The files on the DVD are MPEG 2 files and need to be converted in order to be usable in iMovie. Streamclip from Squared5 is one option although others are available. Wondershare is one as well. Just Google for mp2 converters and you'll find many.

  • Burn fails: "The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or.."

    Hi all,
Whenever I try to burn a disc with iTunes (I'm backing up my whole library), I get this error: "The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry." I'm using MBP and the SuperDrive is Matshushuita UJ-857D.
Anyone know what's going on? I've tried 4 different discs and SuperDrive has destroyed all of them so far
    Thanks!
    Nick

same thing is happening to me... first my superdrive would hang and i would have to force a restart... now i bought a BRAND new lacie external dvd burner and i am getting "The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry." it looks like all the posts dealing with this are fairly recent... probably an OS problem... hello??? apple???

  • Disk Utility: after creating the .DMG (compressed image) When "scan image for restore" finishes it displays "unable to scan (internal error)". Since the process was scanning for about 1 hr is this a fake warning?

External 500GB drive is partitioned with 400GB for Mac OS extended (journalling) and 2nd partition formatted today as "ExFAT".
Yesterday I tried to create a disk image of my HD to no avail - this was compressed on a FAT partition. I got a warning after running the <scan image for restore> saying "unable to scan (internal error)"
I rang Apple support who suggested formatting a partition as MAC OS extended (journalling) and choose to save the image as "read/write'. The image process stopped writing at about 200GB and then the file size jumped to 499GB (ie the size of the HD). But the process did nothing for about an hour so I foce quit disk utility (as suggested by apple support)
My current attempt was to format the external drive again; this time with a 400GB Mac OS extended (journal) format; plus a 100GB ExFAT format partition. The new image was created after about 2.5hrs with a compressed size of 149GB. However, after running the "scan image for restore" facility I got the warning message "unable to scan filename " (internal error). The process was scanning the image file according to the progress bar - this took about hour - thus the warning is a puzzle.
If anyone can say more about this error I would really appreciate knowing tips for using disk utility. The screen grab is below.
"unable to scan filename " (internal error)
    thanks

Thanks for a quick reply <baltwo>. You’ve answered that it is not a fake message!
fyi: I thought that I would use my external Buffalo for two purposes; namely the smaller ExFAT partition for copying stuff to my win7 netbook. The larger partition was to be used as my imac image of SL. So this was my first attempt at using disk utility - the idea being to hold an image backup at another location. Plus I now have the Lion thumbdrive ready to upgrade from SL and so being cautious wanted to have a SL image backup
Anyway I followed the apple instructions using my mac 10.6.3 install DVD but it would appear from other discussions that <unable to scan (internal error)> is not unique to me.
I’ll get back to apple telephone support for further advice.
I would though be grateful for an “idiots’ guide to making an image backup of my internal HD that runs SL 10.6.8
eg should I have just one partition on the external USB drive? format it as Mac OS extended? create the image as compressed or read/write? Basically I’ll do whatever will work!!
    thanks again

  • Eroor after ligin - Unable to Recover Previous State

    Hi,
I have fresh eBS vision installed on suse 9.0,
    1. I logging in to eBS home page
    2. I traing to open resposibility and getting error:
'Error: Unable to Recover Previous State
Transaction context has been lost for the page you requested. This error could have been caused by an expired user session or a system failure.'
What does it means, how to avoid this error?
    Tnx,
    Edgar

Did you re-run all the updates to get your computer back to the point it was at prior to "initilization" (by the way, "initialization" really refers just to formatting a disk and not all the subsequent OS installation, etc. that you did)? It is possible not all components of your applications are in synch with each other. I could easily see this happening with Quicktime and possibly Safari. Text Edit is probably so simple that it is not trying to interact with other components on the computer.
Since Safari and Quicktime are easily available I would just download them and reinstall them.

  • Unable to recover deleted item in Exchange 2010

I'm on Exchange 2010 Sp1 and Outlook 2010. I'm trying to recover a deleted item from the dumpster and when I do I get the following error message.
"Outlook was unable to recover some or all of the items in this folder. Make sure you have the required permissions to recover items in this folder, and try again. If the problem persists, contact your administrator."
I am the administrator and I fairly sure I have been able to do this since migrating my mailbox to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003. I've rebooted my PC. Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks for all the suggestions. That's correct. On my second non problematic PC I can login to my mailbox and recover deleted items without any problems. So same mailbox but different computer no problem. Actually I can recover a deleted item on my problematic
PC for other mailbox no problem too.
In regards to Mumin CICEK question my dumpster is set to 30 days. I tried multiple messages. Even messages that I had just deleted and emptied from deleted items. And again I can recover those same messages from another PC no problem.
In regards to the Windows profile may be corrupted I thought about that too. But what is interesting as using the same Windows profile if I login to a different mailbox I don't have any problems either.
I'll try fixmapi.exe as that seems like a good idea.
One last bit of additional information. My Outlook has hung and crashed on me several times of the past. It has happened when I've been connected to differernt mailboxes. From memory the debug mentioned something about a sharing violation. Maybe I should
turn off my anti virus to see if there is a corralation?

  • I was running Lightroom 3.6 with the OS Windows XP (Sp3). The whole system crashed, I am unable to recover the serial number. I then upgraded my OS to Windows 7 (x64) and down loaded Lightroom 4.4, I wanted to buy a licence so I then upgraded to Lightroom

I was running Lightroom 3.6 with the OS Windows XP (Sp3). The whole system crashed, I am unable to recover the serial number. I then upgraded my OS to Windows 7 (x64) and down loaded Lightroom 4.4, I wanted to buy a licence so I then upgraded to Lightroom 5, now when I try to register I am asked for the original licence/serial number. Where do I go from here??????

If you upgraded from 3.6 to 5 (you didn't indicate buying 4.4) then you will need the serial number from 3.6 in order to be able to use 5.  If you did not keep a record of it there is a chance it might be available thru your Adobe account online, but if not, there is likely not much you can do except to return the upgrade and purchase a full version.  Try contacting support using chat and explain your situation to see if they can help.

If you did purchase 4.4 then that should be sufficient to use to activate 5.
I can never be sure what goes on with Lightroom, and the Adobe site (even when it works properly) makes finding information about products difficult these days so I am at a loss to confirm anything I say.

  • How can I eject a dvd that will not play and says "supported dish not available,  also DVD player encountered a system error  -69902

I am unable to eject a DVD.  When I try the screen says "Supported dish not available."  Before that a DVD stopped playing and the screen said 'DVD player encountere a system error  -69902.  How can I get the DVD out?

restart your mac while holding down on the mouse.

  • "DVD player encountered a system error, error: -36"

I burned video with iDVD and when I try to play the dvd I get a message which states, "DVD player encountered a system error, error: -36". One DVD disk will not play at all and keeps trying to load. Another DVD disk will load, but will say that there is a system error. Anyone know about this problem?

Type -36 error (I/O Errors (bummers)
This file is having difficulty while either reading from the drive or writing to the drive. The file
may have been improperly written data to the drive or the hard drive or disk may be damaged.
This is almost always indicative of a media error (hard error on the disk). Sometimes (rarely) it is transient.
Solutions: Try copying the file to another drive. Use a disk recovery software, such as Disk First Aid to examine the disk. You can try rebooting with all extensions off. Once in a while this will allow you to read the data. The file in question should be restored from a backup that was stored on a different disk. Regular backups can reduce the time to recover from this error.
My first guess is that you used poor quality DVD media. Maxell and Verbatim are good.

  • HP System Recovery DVD Unable to Complete Recovery

    Hello
I am having trouble using the System Recovery DVDs on my HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx. My computer got a virus and I uninstalled Windows 7 and reinstalled it using a new copy I bought.  Currently my computer can run Windows 7 but it does not have any programs or other software installed on it. I am trying to restore my computer to factory settings using the System Recovery DVDs from HP. The DVD works until it gets to the step where it must restore files to the hard drive. About 10% into this step a message pops up that says:
    "Contact HP Support
In most cases, recovering the hard drive will fix your problems.
If your problems continue, you may need to contact HP Support. Find HP Support contact information in your PC documentation."
I have tried running the System Recovery DVDs several times and always get this message. So far I have been unable to recover my hard drive and try this process again.
    Any tips?
    Thanks

  • How to record a DVD on Quick Time Player?

I am trying to record a DVD using Full Screen Recording in Quick Time Player.
I am able to click the red button to get the screen recording but then the screen on the DVD Player goes grey.
    The DVD isn't rights protected.
How do I get the DVD to play and record it?
    Thank you

Handbrake can't read all the DVD (as there is an error on it) but I can play it in full on DVD Player - hence trying to record full screen.
I didn't expect there to be any copyright protection - does the grey screen when trying to record with Quick Time suggest that it is protected?

  • Unable to recover Windows 7 Starter version!! Please help me !!

    Dear All,
I was accidentally switched off the power cord whilst I was installing software since then, I was unable to recover my Windows 7 Starter in my HP Mini 1100 (Intel Atom). currently, I am trying to recover my Windows 7 Starter through HP Instant Web but to no avail !!! Please kindly help me to recover my Windows 7 Starter in my HP Mini 1100 ( Intel Atom). Please help......thanks......Beginner00.

    Hi,
Here's an alternative option you could try.
You can use the following method to create your own Windows 7 Starter 32bit installation media.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the entire 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create Windows 7 installation yourself using another PC. However, there is no download directly available for Windows 7 Starter, so you'll need to download another version ( any one will do, but the link below is for Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit - the source is Digital River ).
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32bit.
For the key on your COA label to work, you will now need to use the method described in the following link to convert this ISO to an all-version installer– the section you require to modify the ISO is Stage 1 Universal DVD ( although you’re going to be creating a usb installer, the method for modifying the ISO is the same ).
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/85813-windows-7-universal-installation-disc-create.html
Once done, use an application such as Rufus to create a Windows 7 bootable usb flash drive.
Use the Flash Drive to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Additional drivers and software you may need for your notebook can be found by entering either the full Model No. or Product No. Here.
    Regards,
    DP-K
