Recording on nano

I am looking for a way to use my nano as a recording device. I have used the italk device in the past on another device- but it does not work on this device. Is there another accessory like this that would allow my nano to audio record .

Hello Andrew,
I would follow the instructions provided in this Apple support document

  • Solid Voice Recorder for Nano?

In lieu of a voice recorder being released for the Nano, I was wondering if anyone had any stand-alone recommendations?
Or perhaps an accessory has in fact been released, and I missed it?
Either which way, I just need something digital, cheap, reliable for some interviews.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    David

I don't know if there are any available yet, or if there will be. It may take a while longer as companies were rushing to get accesories like cases out for christmas. Now they can start the bigger projects

  • Pausing video recording on Nano?

When recording video on the new Nano, is it possible to pause and resume recording or only to stop and restart as a new file? I would like to be able to pause and keep it as one file name throughout.
    Many thanks for any help

I am not expert, but my experience is that once you pause/stop you video it cycles forward to start a new video. Perhaps there is another setting that prevents this, but this is all I have seen.

  • Voice Recording - Ipod Nano 3rd Gen

    Hi,
Recently, i saw a mini microphone in the market. At the back of the packaging, it said "This accessory is compatible with iPhone, iTouch, iPod Nano and iPod Classic by installing iTalk Recorder or Easy Recorder".
The dealer had confired that it can be used on iPod 3rd Gen so i was so excited that my ipod finally has voice recording function. I'd downloaded both app with iTune but it cant be sync/installed to my iPod Nano...
Can anyone pls assist me on this critical issue because i need a 2-in-1 mp3+voice recorder?

Thank you for the reply, however, I'm using APPLE; 10.5..... op system.  I have been using this ipod with this APPLE comp for  a few years--- I read somewhere that the mobile device could be auto turned off somehow.  If I DO follow the directions for the uninstall..do I lose all my songs, etc when I put the itune.app in the trash and re-install?

  • Videos and special effects... (?)

Okay I just found these.. they are great! But I was wondering... is anyone else having issues when filming either backlit or in the snow?
My vids are... as best described... "mucky" looking!
Is there not an option to increase the contrast or to 'vivid color' saturate the look?
    Thanks...
===== and for those that do not know about the special effects: =====
Chapter 5 Using the Video Camera page:53
    Recording Video with Special Effects
You can record video with a variety of special effects on iPod nano.
Note: Video effects can only be selected before recording. iPod nano can’t add effects
to or remove effects from recorded videos. You can’t change video effects settings
    while recording.
To record video with special effects:
1 Choose Video Camera from the main menu.
2 Press and hold the Center button to display the video effects palette.
3 Use the Click Wheel to browse the effects, and press the Center button to select one.
The viewfinder screen appears with the selected effect.
4 Press the Center button again to start recording with video effects.
5 Press the Center button to stop recording.
If you exit the Video Camera screen to play back your video, video effects are turned
off. To resume recording with a video effect, repeat steps 2 through 4.

Okay, why am I the only one who couldn't figure out how to get Special Effects with my video camera? The User Manual instructions: see pg 7, which is correct and pg 53-54 seem to be written incompletely; and (as I read them) indicate that with "Video Camera" on the screen, the center black button should be held down, thus providing the choices of Special Effects. WRONG. What does provide the array of Special Effects, is to select Video Camera (with the black center button), opening the lens of the camera. Before recording begins, hold the center black button down until the Special Effects are displayed, THEN select one and begin recording with it by quickly depressing the black center button. To end, again depress the black center button.

  • Does the ipod nano can record sounds?

Does the iPod nano can record sounds connecting "headphones with microphone"?

    Hi uptight,
Yes, the iPod Nano does support MP4 files.
You can find more information about the files the iPod supports here: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
You can convert many videos right from iTunes. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211 will walk you through the process with sample files.

  • Zen Nano Plus: Line in recording from micropho

I've got a Creative Zen Nano Plus and was very happy about its ability to encode MP3s from the line in jack.
Since the integrated microphone is not very good for recording (especially loud music) I tried to connect a microphone to the line in jack. Unfortunately I had to recognise that it doesn't record anything no matter if "Sync Track" is on or off.
I'd be glad if someone can tell me what exactly the problem is. Do I need some kind of special microphone (I read somewhere that it has to be "pre-amped", whatever that may mean) or is the line in jack designed for just recording from devices like a CD player? Help is very much appreciated. :-)

    Big bump.
I did some research quite a while ago and thought that I should report the results for people also having that problem.
A line-in jack is not a microphone-in jack. The difference between them is that the former is not supplied with electricity, so it can't power simple external microphones on its own. Thus, a real microphone-in jack is needed, though none of the Creative products has one included. You will still need a pre-amped microphone to get recordings with proper volume, though. A good and cheap solution is the Archos Stereo Microphone that comes with a preamplifier including volume adjust (http://www.archos.com -> Accessories -> Audio accessories).
Microphone-in jacks can be found for example in the iri'ver iFP-7** and iFP-8** series. Since this players are discontinued and newer models don't have these jacks, it's kind of hard to still use that feature.

  • Zen Nano Plus: Playing files recorded on my Nano Plus on my

The subject says it all - I bought this player specifically because I need to record conferences that I attend, many of which put the audio feed out over a low-power FM signal specifically so that people can record it & hearing-impaired folks can listen via radio.
My problem: Just got the player today. I've been playing with recording both voice and FM signals. I can play them back right on the player, but even tho they're in .WAV format, I'm unable to play them with *any* of the media players I have access to - RealPlayer, Windows Media, not even the one that came with my Nano. Nothin'.
    Suggestions?
I'm using Win2KPro, if that makes any difference...

    <EM></EM>
<EM>Good call. I just did a general search for WAV files on my PC, and RealPlayer can play them, just not the ones recorded from my Nano Plus. Oddly enough, when I plugged it into a puter running WinXP today, they played just fine. Real.com's suggestion thru their customer service site was to download & install Windows MediaPlayer 0 (which is what I used on the XP box), but my machine in my home office is Win2kPro, an MP0 requires XP.</EM>
<EM>Any ideas, short of getting a new computer? I'm in the market, but I'm not quite ready to replace yet...</EM>

  • How to record MP3 to Nano via Line-in.

Is there any capability or external device that would allow me to record an MP3 to a Nano 7th Gen using Line-In as the input source.
And Line-In does NOT mean microphone. Thank you for your help.

It doesnt look Mac-compatible. Per web site:
    Minimum System Requirements
                   Intel® Pentium® II 350MHz , AMD K6® 450MHz
Intel®, AMD or 100% compatible motherboard
                   Windows® 98SE, Me, 2000 SP2 or XP
                   64MB RAM for Windows® 98 SE
                   128MB RAM for Windows® Me, Windows® 2000 Professional & Windows® XP
340MB of free hard disk space
                   Available USB port
Headphones or amplified speakers (available separately)
CD/DVD-ROM drive required for software installation

  • Recording with a 4 gig nano?

Is there a way (software / hardware) for a 4 gig 2nd generation nano to record? If if can what is the best bit rate I can expect? I'd like to record my band practices for practicing at home.
    Thanks

As I mentioned in a post above, you have to buy one of the voice recorder accessories in order to get it to work.
As for posting a new topic...when you enter the "Ipod Nano (Second Generation)" section (or any other section relevant to your post) there should be a smaller box of sub categories. In the Ipod Nano 2nd gen one there are 4. Choose the category most relevant and enter it. At the top of the page you will see "Post New Topc" or something similar. Click and post!

  • •••••cant view nano recorded videos??•••••

hey Im having trouble transfering the videos that i recorded using my new ipod nano I turned the ipod to enable disk use and i can see where the movie is on the ipod and i can drag it onto my desktop , BUT when i try to view the video using quicktime the video looks all green and fuzzy and u can only hear the audio of the video but u dont see any picture other than green and fuzzy wierd on the quicktime screen???!??!?!??!?! i can view the videos fine using the ipod but i cant view them on my pc ??? can someone help me? and is anyone else having this problem??

Your topic is misleading. According to your post, you are not having issues viewing videos on your iPod. The problem is viewing the videos on your desktop using Quicktime. You will be better off posting in the QuickTime for Windows forum.

  • Nano Plus - line in record

Can anybody point me to the approximate voice recording time you get from the Nano Plus, from its 92 to 60 kps quality? I want to be able to record up to an hour at a time, and store up to four hours in total files (all through the line-in feature).
I could buy an Olympus voice recorder that offers file transfer for about $80, but for not much more money I can get a full-fledged MP3 unit.
I currently have a base 28 mb Creative Muvo I got free from Audible, and I'm hooked on it

Thanks but I've done this and it doesn't seem to have made any difference, seems to cut off around 40-50 minutes. Any other suggestions?
