  • Recording Audio with iPod Nano - Request Software Stereo Monitor

I'm posting this message hoping that an Apple employee will read it...
The iPod Nano used in conjunction with the Belkin TuneTalk Stereo adapter turns the Nano into an excellent solid-state 16bit / 44.1KHz digital audio recorder. However, there is no visual indication that audio is being recorded on the Nano when recording is initiated - no stereo audio monitor with a volume indicator bar for the left & right channels is present. Most audio recording applications provide a left & right stereo volume indicator bar to display real-time audio clipping or low input volume... colored green at the bottom, yellow near the top, and red at the very top for audio clipping when the input volume is too loud.
While I understand that the main purpose of the iPod is for audio playback, I would ask Apple to include a stereo audio monitor in an upcoming iPod software update (soon). Perhaps as a starting point, you can borrow code for the live equalizer monitor that appears at the top of the iTunes window when the little right-arrow is pressed in the virtual LCD screen area.
While I have had no problems to date recording on the iPod Nano, it would be reassuring to know that the device is actually recording audio. It would be unfortunate to record an hour-long interview believing everything is fine, but then discover that no audio had been recorded. The presence of a stereo audio monitor would help deter this fear.
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Jaspo

  • Recording problems with ipod nano - too many voices reading audiobook

I have tried listening to two audiobookks on my ipod nano (6G) but the reader's voice  is subject to an identical part-second later echo which makes it all but impossible to understand what he is saying - any suggestions as to the cause of this fault and (hopefully) how to remedy it - thanks,        Peter

  • IPOD Nano want to record or download webinar from internet

I listen to webinars or courses on the internet and would like to record on to the Nano, for later use. Mainly audio.
    PC   Windows XP

    Which nano do you have?
As far as i know, only the 2nd gen nano supports voice recording (with a suitable mic attachment).
Mainly audio? The nano does not support video content in any event.
If these are downloads from the internet, do you know what format they are in?

  • Creative Zen Nano P

Hello there! I have one mp3 player and I tried to connect him to my Panasonic compact audio system SA-DH30 with the "Line In" Cable but it isn't working.
    What can I do?
    ThX.

First, I am not sure if you are trying to record TO the Zen Nano or playing music FROM the Nano. I am going to assume that you want to play the music on your Nano through your system. First, you need a Y-connector. This will have a /8" stereo plug on end and two RCA connectors on the other. These are cheap- found at Radio Shack, on Ebay etc. To playback your Nano, you use the headphone jack, not the Line In jack. The cable you were supplied with is used for recording TO the Nano. If you stereo does not have auxilary RCA inputs (could be labled "aux, tape, line-in,cd"), you may be unable to use your Nano. Another possibility, if you have a cassette player, is to purchase one of those cassette adaptors typicallly used with car stereos.

  • Can Someone Confirm this Nano Action for me?

I need to have an AIFF recording UNCOMPRESSED on my Nano.
If I bring into iTunes as AIFF, will the Nano compress it when I download to the Nano?
If so, can I use the Nano as a hard-drive and copy the AIFF file to it that way?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes, it will download uncompressed. It will take a lot more space but it will still sync to the nano as uncompressed. Syncing to your iPod will not compress your files unless you change the format yourself. The same format you imported the file to iTunes will be the same format sent to your nano.

  • FM Radio Recording Len

How many hours of FM radio can I record on a Zen Nano Plus GB. I know it records in .wav format but I can't find any chart from Creative that lets you know how much will fit. Can anyone help?

The recording format is IMA-ADPCM-compressed WAV (6 kHz, 4-bit, stereo) resulting in roughly MB of data per minute.
If you're thinking about long recordings (i.e. multiple hours), power might (or probably will) be an issue. I think we had a thread on this recently, but I can't remember if it was about FM or Line in/MP3 recording...

  • Zen Nano 1G Line in quest

    Hi
Just purchased a zen nano g great little device.
I was wondering would it be possible to connect a external microphone (say a small lapel mic) to the line in jack to give better voice recodings.

A microphone just by itself produces a very low power. Some devices have an amplifier built-in to them, hence you can connect a microphone directly.
The Nano has a line-in, so that means it needs the microphone's input to be at line level. That is the output from the microphone needs to be amplified BEFORE going into the Nano.
Ideally you want a microphone or pre-amp that can be adjusted, but recording results with the Nano are not fantastic based on reports here.

  • How to import BBC iPlayer files into my Nano?

I have a nano 5th gen. I'd like to take BBC iPlayer files and other video from my laptop and sync to the nano. Nothing seems to work and the tutorial only relates to video bought from iTunes. Is this a cunning ploy from Apple or am I missing something?

The BBC iPlayer files and video files need to be converted in order to play on your iPod Nano. iTunes can do this for you or a 3rd party utility.

  • Sony Vegas and MPEG4

Can Sony Vegas 7 edit the MPEG4 video files recorded from 5th gen nano, or does it need a plugin?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
To capture video using the A2 VE you'll need to use Ulead to do the initial capture. Once done and the video is on the PC you can then use your preferred Video creation tools to manipulate the file(s).
    Hope this hel

  • Does the ipod nano can record sounds?

Does the iPod nano can record sounds connecting "headphones with microphone"?

    Hi uptight,
Yes, the iPod Nano does support MP4 files.
You can find more information about the files the iPod supports here: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
You can convert many videos right from iTunes. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211 will walk you through the process with sample files.

  • Zen Nano Plus: Line in recording from micropho

I've got a Creative Zen Nano Plus and was very happy about its ability to encode MP3s from the line in jack.
Since the integrated microphone is not very good for recording (especially loud music) I tried to connect a microphone to the line in jack. Unfortunately I had to recognise that it doesn't record anything no matter if "Sync Track" is on or off.
I'd be glad if someone can tell me what exactly the problem is. Do I need some kind of special microphone (I read somewhere that it has to be "pre-amped", whatever that may mean) or is the line in jack designed for just recording from devices like a CD player? Help is very much appreciated. :-)

    Big bump.
I did some research quite a while ago and thought that I should report the results for people also having that problem.
A line-in jack is not a microphone-in jack. The difference between them is that the former is not supplied with electricity, so it can't power simple external microphones on its own. Thus, a real microphone-in jack is needed, though none of the Creative products has one included. You will still need a pre-amped microphone to get recordings with proper volume, though. A good and cheap solution is the Archos Stereo Microphone that comes with a preamplifier including volume adjust (http://www.archos.com -> Accessories -> Audio accessories).
Microphone-in jacks can be found for example in the iri'ver iFP-7** and iFP-8** series. Since this players are discontinued and newer models don't have these jacks, it's kind of hard to still use that feature.

  • Zen Nano Plus: Playing files recorded on my Nano Plus on my

The subject says it all - I bought this player specifically because I need to record conferences that I attend, many of which put the audio feed out over a low-power FM signal specifically so that people can record it & hearing-impaired folks can listen via radio.
My problem: Just got the player today. I've been playing with recording both voice and FM signals. I can play them back right on the player, but even tho they're in .WAV format, I'm unable to play them with *any* of the media players I have access to - RealPlayer, Windows Media, not even the one that came with my Nano. Nothin'.
    Suggestions?
I'm using Win2KPro, if that makes any difference...

    <EM></EM>
<EM>Good call. I just did a general search for WAV files on my PC, and RealPlayer can play them, just not the ones recorded from my Nano Plus. Oddly enough, when I plugged it into a puter running WinXP today, they played just fine. Real.com's suggestion thru their customer service site was to download & install Windows MediaPlayer 0 (which is what I used on the XP box), but my machine in my home office is Win2kPro, an MP0 requires XP.</EM>
<EM>Any ideas, short of getting a new computer? I'm in the market, but I'm not quite ready to replace yet...</EM>

  • How to record MP3 to Nano via Line-in.

Is there any capability or external device that would allow me to record an MP3 to a Nano 7th Gen using Line-In as the input source.
And Line-In does NOT mean microphone. Thank you for your help.
