Recording Options with Audigy

Hello:?I have recently purchased and installed an Audigy SE card into a PC running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit edition.
Does this card support a "What You Hear"/ "Stereo Mix" recording option?.
?I?purchased the card?as an?upgrade from my on-board sound processor, as the Vista drivers available for it'sdo not work properly. I previously used my system under Windows XP Pro to broadcast as an internet DJ and this option is necessary for me to contine. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank You.

I recently upgraded my XP system with Audigy SE to Vista and found that I could no longer record from the stereo mix. Here's what I did to fix it.
I went to Control Panel, Sounds, and under the Recording tab I right clicked and selected Show Disabled Devices. "What U Hear" showed up, but even after enabling it, it still said "Not Available". So I went to Creative and downloaded the latest software/driver pack for Vista 32-bit (dated 9 Jul 07) and installed it. After installing and rebooting, I went to Control Panel/Sounds again and tried to find "What U Hear". It was not there at all, even after telling Vista to show all disabled devices. No stereo mix, no nothing. Nice update.
So I kept the new Audigy software installed but I rolled back the driver to the original Vista driver, which was dated Feb 2007. I went back to Control Panel/Sounds and lo and behold, "What U Hear" was back. However, it was still labeled as "not available". So now I did another reboot.
I went back to Control Panel/Sounds and looked for "What U Hear", and this time it was available. So I selected it to be default and loaded up Sony SoundForge to give it a test, and it worked. I could record from the stereo mix by selecting "What U Hear" in Soundforge as my recording device.
So, in summary, the July 07 Creative update for Audigy SE in Vista 32-bit seems to be missing this key capability, for whatever reason. However, the built-in Vista driver for Audigy dated Feb 2007 does allow it. By coincidence, Creative also has a Feb 2007 driver update listed in their downloads -- is this the same driver supplied by Vista? I don't know. Maybe it is, but now that I have things working, I'm not going to mess with it to try and find out.
So my advice -- get the latest software pack from Creative but use the February 2007 Vista driver, or try the Creative February driver.

  • Distorted / choppy recorded sound with Audigy 2 ZS and Vista 64-bit

Hi, I wonder if anybody has any idea of why this issue is happening. First let me give you my PC specs:
    CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 rev. 2.0
    Graphics: 2 x BFG GeForce 8800 GT 52MB
    RAM: 4 x GB G.Skill PC6400 @ 800 MHz
Sound: Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
TV Tuner:? Hauppauge WinTV PVC PCI II (26xxx)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP
?So here's the deal. I have no problems whatsoever with audio playback with this sound card. The issue I am having is while recording sound with it. When I record my voice via a Microphone with the Windows Sound Recorder and then play it back, my voice sounds very choppy. It sounds as if I was talking in front of a fan. The same happens with any program I try to use. If I use Audacity to record sound, the playback is also distorted / choppy. The main problem is with Skype, as I cannot use it to talk to people because they cannot understand what I'm saying because of the issue. Does anybody has any ideas why this happens? My PC is a dual boot PC with Vista 64-bit and XP 32-bit, and this issue only happens with Vista. Sound recorded plays back fine under Windows XP.
I am using the latest drivers available for this card from the Creative site.
    I'd appreciate your help,
    Daniel

A little bit off topic here, but 64bit does not mean more performance at all lol.
Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. But of course X64 uses more RAM (some tasks are double 32 and 64 bit). But the main reason I have more performence is, that the games I often play, get almost a boost. Dont ask me why, but under 64 bit EAW and FOC have the same FPS as under 32 bit. But under X64 I use a bit more Details and a higher resolution. (both are 32 bit games, so its a bit funy )?______________________?Sure there are other ways to install the drivers. But if some Setup dosent work, the first thing I try is to get it via Divice Management. And as this worked for me, I dont waste time to try other methods (Had bad experience, you can break the driver faster than install it *G*)?______________________?Some Questions I have left (after a few hours undr X64 with Creative Drivers):?Could it be, that the driver causes sometimes havy CPU usage?Could it also be, that the driver causes some lags, after you copy a file (the end sound, copy is finihed, but takes more time for "final finish", than without the drivers) - I know that Vista has some problems, on some PCs with copy, and that MS has an inoficial Patch (but dosent help for my PC so far)

  • Recording Music With Audigy Platinu

I record music with my Audigy and I am trying to get it so I can record my guitar with effects. I can turn the effects on, but it turns it on for everything and when I record, no effects are applied.
I tried messing with the "source" for the effect with no success. I also tried switching my windows sound settings for record and playback...
    Help me

    Voormis,
I think a EMU recording card is in your future. The entry level EMU card is the 0404 and can do exactly what you are looking to do. The higher end cards offer more inputs and better grade converters. Basically if you are looking for something for multitrack recording with effects processing, you should check these cards out.
Right now EMU is selling Factory Re-Certified B-Stock cards at good discounts. You can also check for the cards through many music retailers. Here is the emu website:

  • Recording problems with Audigy

In comparison with an integrated card i had (Soundmax) and one i purchased (Sb 6) but change it because of the lack of soundfont technology, the Audigy SE records (In this case, guitars through a mic) with a better quality, but the volume of the recordings are almost like i havent record anything at all, having the "Mic boost" option selected and the volume of recording all the way up. I have to crank the amp more than i usually do when recording to be able to hear anything, but it also sounds some "ssssss" in the recording.
The recorder that came with the Audigy have an option to clean the audio from this "SSSS" but when properly cleaned it sounds very rare and unnatural, and since i use cakewalk for multitrack recording it is useless for me.

This is probably the same driver bug I have.
Windows 7 64-Bit with 8 GB of ram.
I have contacted support about it.
So far I have just recieved the typical form letters (no support at all) from them.
Turn on listening and pay with the sampling rate for a bit.
Eventually you will get it clear by switch from on rate to another.
Annoying as all get out, but that is about all you can do until there is a driver fix.

  • Smooth automation recording option with Virus TI ???

    Hello.
Im using Virus TI with logic 8 .
For example when i record cutoff automation , it will write the automation step by step , and not a cruve as it should i don't know if i make myself clear . If i turn the know from down to up in a regular way , it will record the automation step and not a curve , so it means i have to re write automation because when i playback it doesnt sound the same .
So is there an option that allows to smooth automation recording so when i record it will show a curve and not one dot every step of the automation ???
By the way i also use a novation remote midi controller and i don't have this issue with it , this happens only with the Virus TI plugin.
omg i hope someone understands and has a solution .

Yeah that's a known problem with some 3rd party plugins. Assign the different sounds to different Outputs/Auxes instead, and write your Automation into the Auxes.

  • Recording option with CVP

    Hi
I want to develop application either with Call Studio or micro apps to do recording such as announcement in .wav format to update the script prompts.
Any idea if I could achieve that with CVP , I dont has ASR/TTS platform.
    Cheers
    Shahid

Sure, the Call Studio element Record can do this - Record with Confirm.
Record with FTP can send it to an FTP server, which if it constructed correctly, can be placing the file in the right place on a Media Store. You need to make sure the lifetime on the web server is set to immediately expire otherwise the cache on the gateway will hold a copy of the old file. This leads to poor gateway performance, as it can't use the cache. This is a problem you have to find a solution for.
Another problem is that if you have two Media Stores - as most do - you need to find a way to update both of them. When I did this I used the standard Record element and wrote a custom Java class to FTP the file somewhere. After the user confirms the recording is suitable, I use the custom FTP element to send the file to first one Media Store, and then use it again to send it to the other Media Store.

  • Could not find the record specified with data_record option

Hi, we've got the same error in a couple of templates, but have no idea what can be the cause or solution. Does anyone know where I should look when I got "Could not find the record specified with data_record option" as message?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Raf,
That is what it normally is.  I thought it might be related to a multi-record form, like in this blog http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2009/09/working_with_multiple_data_rec.html.
That blog does not really go into it, but if your "record" is not the directly under the <xfa:data> element then you need a <record> element under config/data to say what the node is, something like <record>Worker</record>.
You error message sounded familiar but I have not been able to reproduce it, but then I've moved on a couple of versions of Designer.
Is it possible for you to share your form and seed data?
    Regards
    Bruce

Team, iTunes 10.2.2.12 has just been released. I installed it and checked, and BonJour's been updated to version 2.0.5.0, and there's a new 2.0.5.0 version of dnssd.dll on my system. So I reckon it's worth a try updating to that to see if it's of any help with your trouble.

"Frustrated with Audigy 2zs drivers\ Hi,
I really need some help with drivers for my Aud 2 ZS Plant card as i am very frustrated. A couple of months ago I reformatted my HD and subsequently re-installed all my drivers. Help would be much appreciated.
    Tappy

If you want the latest drivers I'd use Dan K's if I were. None of the old software works with the latest drivers so you're kinda stuffed. Dan K's are based on the 2.8.000 drivers which are the second to latest drivers available. Don't use the 2.8.00 drivers - they cause more problems than they solve.
Before installing any more drivers/software it might be an idea to make sure there's nothing left of any previous drivers you've tried to install. Could be what's causing the problems.
This is how I remove my drivers. May seam a little convoluted but in your case it may prove useful to be as thorough as possible.
You'll need Driver Sweeper, and CCleaner, 7Zip and Dan K's Audigy Support Pack 2.0 (if you don't already have them).
Download these and install; Driver Sweeper, CCleaner and 7Zip.
Now you need to extract all the files out of Dan K's support pack, which should be an *.exe file. You need what's inside that *.exe file. After installing 7Zip, you should see a new 7Zip options menu when you right click on files or folders?
Click on it and then select Extract files to Audigy Support Pack... or something similar. Don't just select Extract files.
Inside the new folder that should have appeared after 7Zip extracted everything, you'll see another folder named Drivers.
Copy this folder to your desktop.
Now reboot and start Windows in safe mode.
Click Start then Run and type cmd.exe to open a command prompt, then type (minus quotes):
    " takeown /f C:\Windows\*.cdf " and hit enter, then:
" cacls C:\Windows\*.cdf /G *insert your logon name*:F " and select Y and hit enter again.
You can now close down that command prompt window.
Go in to the Drivers folder you copied to your desktop and run Setup.exe and this should appear:
    <img border="0" src="http://theliability.googlepages.com/creative_uninstaller.png">
Select the same options as above and click OK and let it do it's thing - when it says reboot your PC click No or Cancel.
Now run Driver Sweeper and do a scan for all Creative drivers then click Clean.
Don't worry if it says things like file doesn't exist or some other error msg. It'll still get a few things.
No load up Add or Remove Programs (personally I prefer Revo Uninstaller) and remove anything related to Creative.
Finally load CCleaner and scan/clean your registery.
Reboot back in to normal Windows.
And that's it. A tedious process I know, but it's the only way I've found of properly stripping CLs drivers out.
You'll know if it's worked because when you now go and install Dan K's pack the installer should just run straight through. When there's still driver remnants the installer always says it's found previous drivers and need to uninstall them and reboot.
tbh I recommend running through this process regardless of wether or not your choose to stick with the old drivers or go with the newer ones.
Creative's drivers are infamous i'm afraid and at least after this your PC should be relati'vely clear or remnants.

  • Need 'What You Hear' recording option for Notebook(Vista)-Does Xi-Fi for Notebooks provide th

    Hi,
I have an Audigy sound card on a Dell desktop and it has the "What You Hear" recording option within Vista. I need the same option for my Dell Notebook, unfortuntately, this notebook uses a Sigmatel card within the motherboard. What device or application to i need to buy in order to get the "What you Hear" recording option to be available?
What am i attempting to do?I often record li've webcasts in which the video portion comes through a Li've Meeting or Lotus Same time application using a Screen Recording Application?BUT the Audio comes from a conference which i use a VoIP software to dial into. I need to be able to record the sound that's been generated through my computer as an internal source. I need to be able to select 'What You Hear' as the default recording device so that the screen recording application i use can also record the audio been played through the PC?Appreciate any help here. Thanks?Kevin

If it'sis not a Creative card, "what u hear" will be called something different. Maybe "stereo mix" or something else. The device just records anything coming from the soundcard. Play around and see if you don't have something similar to "what u hear" with a different name.

Blank Page prints even though "Suppress Printing If No Records" option is thicked.
    My environment:
Crystal Report Developer Full version 11.5.11.1470
    Windows Server 2003 SP2 32-bit.
We have a third party vendor application written in Java -let's call it "print deamon", but my company doesn't have access to the source code.
The print deamon essentially listens to the core application which is located remotely, receive some print instructions such as label name, printer name, crystal reports version (8.5 or 11) and a few parameters that are passed to the crystal report template.
When the version is Crystal Reports 11 and the template is open and query is executed (using Oracle JDBC) and if the template's query does not retrieve any rows, a blank page still prints even though the option to suppress printing is thicked.
With Crystal Reports 8.5 version, we have no issues.
recycling the blank page is not an option in our high volume print environment, these paper and labels are wasted big time, third party vendor says this is an issue with crystal reports XI api.
These are some of the libraries the Print Deamon uses:

Let me know if there's anything we can do before engaging our third party vendor to produce their source code.

It's not relavent now is it? Do what ever works in CR XI.
Also you may want to upgrade to CR XI R2. Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
Once updated you can then go to the Keycode site and get a XI R2 keycode to enable oll of the features.

  • Recording actions with zoom and screen mode

    PS CS6 under Win7 x64Pro
Very long time Photoshop use and one-time programmer. OK with the process of creating actions, but haven't written any PS scripts.
I do lots of retouching of old B&W photographs. My initial setup after opening a new image is always the same:
Create new layer and assign same name each time.
    Zoom to actual pixels.
Home key to move to top left.
F key to set view to full screen with menu bar (to stop inadvertent scrolling when near the edge of the window).
and finally select the Healing Brush.
I have tried to create an action to do all the above, but when I try recording one (either using shortcut keys or menus) it only registers the create and name-layer elements and ignores the rest.
How can I automate the whole set?

    akribie wrote:
For completeness, it is only possible to include tool selections when recording an action if "Allow Tool Recording" is enabled in the Action panel flyout menu, which is not the default.
All now working fine except for the final HOME step, which I haven't managed to record. But I can live with that.
No some tools can be recorded being selected via using/recording their shortcut key.  However all can not perhaps because the shortcut key may be ambiguous because you can shift+Shortcut between a group of tools that have the same shortcut key so the shortcut by itself would select the last active one in the group whichever that happens to be. The tool bar tool Button Icon also changes with tool use.   However Tool presets are not ambiguous they identify the exact tool and the settings for the tool use.  That is why I wrote to create a tool preset and record selecting that preset in your action.
"Allow Tool Recording" is not very useful, is not well implemented and in fact will be disabled if you install Adobe Scriptlistener Plug-in.  The "Allow Tool Recording"option  will record tool usage. ie record your brush strokes.  How much data get recorded seems to be a function of your machine processing power. So actions recorded on a powerful machine would swamp less powerful machines. Also brush stroke relate to document size and zoom level color etc. Some settings are not even captured and documents vary in size. So the feature would only work for documents the same size and when you record the  things and setting the option fails to capture in the recording. IMO Adobe wasted time and money developing that feature that is of so little use and value. I install the Scriptlistener Plug-in do not mind that allow tool recording is not an option I have.  For I have never use it or even downloaded a useful action that used the allow tool recording feature. I looked at tool recording when Adobe first announced the new feature recorded some actions then categorized the feature as useless.
I don't understand your final Home step what you trying to do.

  • What recording option(s) will allow me to snip out portions of the presentation?

What kind of initial recording option(s) in Captivate 5.5 will allow me to snip out portions--a few seconds here, a few seconds there--of the visual presentation? (It seems like I'm selecting recording options that don't permit this.) Also, how do I do this without affecting the background audio track? Thank you!

    are you recording in FMR?
If you're recording in 'automatic' Captivate basically takes a screenshot of your screen/application and superimposes the mouse movement.  When something changes or you click, it takes another screenshot.  Once those screenshots are compiled you can move and manipulate the screens and mouse movements as needed, including removing entire slides.
The way I understand the Demo, Assessment, Training options is those determine what type of captions and and clickboxes are available in your finished product.  Those options shouldn't disable you from manipulating the length of slides, only how the learner interacts with the slide.
If you're using FMR you're stuck with the length of the slide as it's recording 'real time' and you don't have options to manipulate the timeline (well you can make it longer but it doesn't impact the FMR movements).

  • Asha 501 - Radio doesn't have record option.

    Hi,
    I've 3 queries regading fm/radio/ring tone cutter.
    1. It doesn't have the record option, does it need firmlevel updated to have such feature or just sofware..
    2. In some models having FM Transmitter, even is this requires a firmware update or sofware..
    3. Also, I can't see any app to cut the song file for ringtone..I've seen this app in my asha 206.
Appreicate your help in this regard. Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    - Afaik the record option is not available due to legal constraints.
    - A "transmitter" cannot be updated with SW. It is a HW component. Asha 501 does not have a FM transmitter, it has a FM receiver.
    - In terms of apps we are working to provide as many apps as possible for the new Asha Software Platform - but I cannot provide details on when and if which SW will become available.
    Best regards
