Recording problems on Vista 64

Hi I need your help: I'm on Vista 64 with an audigy 2ZS and It seems I can't use any of the recording option except Microphon, I have not the same problem as everyone because as you can see all the options are available and displayed. My real problem is the status, they're all unavailable (Non disponible in french). In consequence I cannot use these inputs in any of my audio softwares. Any idea?

#What u hear problems in vista 32bit2 I just installed the newer variety of the x-fi notebook card with the wireless broadcast function, and for whatever reason installing the drivers failed the first time, I tried a clean install after that, and the microphone is displayed as not available and what u hear isn't present either, so is there a problem in the driver installation or are those features just non existent in the newer software I also noticed that line in works and the microphone input doesn't, gah, windows fixta is irritating,
EDIT: I found out how to get what u hear to work, I kind of felt stupid but all you have to do is right click in the recording device manager and hit show disabled devices and boom what u hear and the microphone input are there, for what reason I don't know why they were disabled in the first place, but hope this helps anyone with the same problem

Agreed! I have an X-FI Extreme, upgraded to win 7, installed the latest audio drivers, and have just spent the last 2 hours trying to get my "what u hear" back without any luck at all.
I'll also mention that "disabled devices" are shown in the recording options, so that is not the issue.
I was using vista before with the exact same hardware and "what u hear" was available. The driver version was 5.2..200 dated 4/02/07 ... The current driver for windows-7 is 5.2..208 dated 3/08/2009. Maybe installing an older driver would do the trick? I don't know if that would work as I haven't been able to find the old driver I was using for download (just been bombarded with broken links). I'm also guessing that you'll be held hostage to the latest drivers in windows 7.
Get the latest drivers to lose functionality? Sounds like something apple would pull on you!
If anyone has a solution for this, please let us know, otherwise I'll be rolling all the way back to good old XP again.

Audio recording problem in Cap 5

I have used earlier Captivate editions a great deal and never had audio recording problems. I am getting a weak scratchy audio recording. I have tried in Vista, Win 7 and with multiple microphones. What can be the problem?

Unfortunately, you have posted to the Premiere forum. This was the precursor to PrPro. The MOD's will probably move this out to the PrPro forum, so more folk will see it and can respond.
Now, did you use a USB mic? Many have had issues with those.
Also, going back about a year, there was a similar thread, and the description was about the same - "chipmunk." I do not recall the flow of that thread, or the resolution, but will try to find it. I just hope that it was not before the forum changeover, as it is likely gone forever.

Problem with vista and 5.1

problem with vista and 5. i install my old audigy 2 zs exp pro with DTT2500 speaker
In my new pc.
i install vista 64 and SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000 driver from creative site.
when i go to control panel/sound and test the 5. surrund ' iget only the two front speaker.
why is that?
i try to play a song from vista folder "Distance" and i get all 5 +sub to play.
do i miss something?
is the test worg and with another test i can get all spedajer to work or the driver is not good?

i can get 4 speaker when i use the fourpoint mode on the desktop theather 5. dtt2500 digital,
but in movie mode i get only 2 front speaker.
i use the digital out from the sound blaster.

My apologies about not explaining further about disabling SPDIF passthrough. See the steps below to enable DDL encoding.
***Before proceeding please make sure that you've purchased, installed and activated the DDL pack***
. Open Creative Audio Console, go to the Decoder tab to disable driver level encoding and enable SPDIF passthrough (this is done by selecting SPDIF passthrough or any similar option that enable the use of an external decoder) instead of using the built-in decoders.
2. Open up your playback devices window (right click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select playback devices) and set analog speakers (not SPDIF) as your default device. This is VERY IMPORTANT step, or else you get the "the device is busy" error when enbaling DDL encoding.
3. In the Audio Console, select the Encoder tab and enable DLL encoding.
Note:
When DDL encoding is enabled, it makes exclusi've use of your SPDIF connection so, no passthrough is possible. The default output format when using DDL encoding is 48KHz/6 bits. If you make use of any AC3 audio filters (such as ac3filter/others included in codec packs/media player softwares) when DLL encoding is enabled, then please change their output device to analog speakers instead of SPDIF.
To use back SPDIF passthrough (when playing back media with a pre-encoded audio source), open up Audio Console and disable DDL encoding and in the Playback Devices window change the default device to SPDIF. If you make use of any AC3 audio filters (such as ac3filter/others included in codec packs/media player softwares) then please change their output device back to SPDIF. You may also wish to change back your output format to 92KHz/24 bits (right click on SPDIF and select properties -> Advanced tab).

Airport Extreme Utility problem with Vista (works with XP, MacOS)

Hi,
I just setup a new Airport Extreme network at my house, and most things are working fine. I have wirelessly connected at various points an Airport Express (using WDS), a MacBook Pro (OSX) and an IBM Thinkpad. I have several wired machines as well.
My problem: The wired machine I use to configure and setup everything is a Vista Ultimate machine. Unfortunately, the Airport Utility won't connect to the Airport Extreme (or Airport Express for that matter) from Vista. The utility works fine from XP or OSX, but not from Vista. Note that I'm using this in a wired capacity. The Vista machine is directly connected to the Airport Extreme, while several other machine are connected through a GBit switch.
Any help would be much appreciated? Is this a Vista security problem or an Airport Utility problem with Vista?

It's most likely a security issue with Windows Vista. Vista has the ability to set "compatibility modes" for applications.
Try:
1. right mouse clicking the Airport Utility's .exe file.
2. Click the Compatibility tab. Change the Compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
3. Now go down to "Privilage Level" and check the "Run this program as an administrator"
Apple never tells you this but you must connect to the Airport Extreme wirelessly. Now run the Airport Utility. You should see it.

Recording problem on my Xi-Fi Fatality?

'Recording problem on my Xi-Fi Fatality?d So I have a Xi-Fi Fatality, and I would like to be able to record directly from my computer so that it's own output is also the input. For example, if I'm on ventrillo or something and I want to play a funny mp3 to show my friends I'd like to be able for the audio to come directly from the output.
Anyways, my microphone seems to work fine, and that's where the trouble begins.
I go to the sound control panel and click on the recording tab. ? It has microphone as the default device and it says "working."
There are also options for "Auxillary" "Line-In" "Digital-In" and "What U Hear"
However, under each of them it says "currently unavailable"
I am unable to get any of them to function even when I set them to the default device.
Is this normal?

Actually this is kind of weird. Every now and then my "Aux 2" will become available and my mic is not. I have to restart my computer 4 or 5 times for my mic to become available.

Is there a patch to help Dreamweaver work without problems in vista?

Power manager problem under vista 64 bit

Happy to see Lenovo opened a forum and willing to hear from the customers.
Power manager has problems under Vista 64bit:
1. Sometimes it will cause explore.exe can't start when windows start.
2. If no window at max, the color of the battery icon will be very dim
Hope Lenovo can publish a new edition for vista 64 bit.

Record Store only reads one record problem

I have a problem where I can read and write a record to a records store, but i can not do this for multiple records as i am trying with below code. Any help is very welcomes thank you, I am very new to J2ME.
I have a J2ME midlet that calls the startRecordStore() method which create a record 1.
It uses a static int records and it increments it every time a new recordstore is created, well I am not entirely sure if i need to do this. Because I want to go through all the records created.

I don't know where you're calling startRecordStore(), but you're creating a new record store for each "records".
Shouldn't you be just opening the record store "StudentStore", and them adding records to that store?

Acrobat Problem with Vista X64 OLE calls - CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc") does NOT open its window in the CreateObject("AcroExch.App") - but opens a new (invisible) window. Works correctly in XP x64 and 32 bit Vista - happens with Acrobat v8 and v9.

Again, I contend that something changed between 8.1.2 and 8.1.3.

In 8.1.2 you did not have to perform this extra step.

Audio Recording Problem - distorted

Hey all,
I got an audio recording problem here...
When I try to record audio onto my project, the sounds is very poor and distorted. Plus, there is a pretty ugly delay. But when I use garageband, the sound is great and how it should be. So this makes me think that Logic has some sort of problem with my driver (Firebox) or somethin'.
Here's my Setup
-imac G5
-Logic Pro 7.2 (Bought just a few days ago)
-Presonus Firebox (audio interface)
-Condensor Mic

Hi,
It is possible that your FireBox is not the audio card set up in Logic, and that you are accidentally recording the built-in mic.
If Garageband is seeing your FireBox corrctly, then it is the setup in Logic, and nothing else, that you should be looking at.
Check your audio hardware and drivers.

Need help please I'm new to this forum... I have been having a few problems with my recordings like others I try to play back programme I have recorded and get nothing and also trying to delete a programme I'm getting a message to say I can't delete as the programme may be running on another box!!! I only have 1 box!!! I have tried all the rebooting fixes but no joy... I have an old white style hh... Is this or the box tired and in need of replacing??? I've also checked the settings and I'm online and have space on my disk!!! Help

We have had the same problem, which is really frustrating!!
The box appears to be recording but when the programme is played back, it stops during the programme and goes to the resume play on the menu or sometimes the channel isn't there, its just a black screen, I'm thinking of going to Sky if it carries on, getting really fed up now!!!

T61 - problem with Vista x64 NVS 140M drivers

I have problems with Vista x64 and NVS 140M drivers. Thing is that if I install them, everything will be slideshow, even the audio shutters quite bad and CPU is constantly over 45%. I have tried different driver versions but nothing has helped yet. Any ideas?
I wonder if anyone has the old 7.15.11.0129 driver and could send it to me? Maybe that would help.

Try the following test:
- Go to Vista Sound Control Panel to view the S/PDIF out properties.
- Click on the Supported Format tab page, select Dolby Digital and click Test.
Is the test OK?

Problem opening recording devices Audigy4/Vista 5

Audigy 4 in Vista has started acting up since I upgraded to build 5728. Although I get sound and can use my
microphone for Speech Recognition etc. if I click on Recording Devices from the taskbar speaker icon it briefly opens then I get a rundll error and am asked to close program.
I tried completely removing Creative software and drivers (2.0.0000) and starting over, but it persists.

You need to read more.
Known issues:
* Waking your computer from sleep or hibernate mode stops audio output. To resolve this, restart your computer.
