Recording selected media from previous iDVD

What is the proper way to copy a selected piece of media from a previous iDVD I made? (Unfortunately I don't have the original files just an iDVD disc.)
I want the video w/ accompanying audio but not the template it was created with. I want to rename this clip and create a new iDVD using a different background template. Can it be done?

A program called DVDxDV (versiontracker.com) will
allow you to select sections of Video DVDs and
convert back to DV movies that iMovie can import.
You will see a quality drop, once it gets
re-compressed back to the final DVD. Only you can
decide if it will do.
There are other programs, but I like the ability to
selecte "in-out" ponts for the conversion in
DVDxDV....and this sounds like what you're looking
for.

sure you can, but you will realize a (dramatic) loss of quality, DVD is normally end-of-the-road, playback only:
get for 20$ the Apple mpeg2 plugin
and for free the tool Streamclip

Can't Open Project in iDVD 7 from previous iDVD 6

I have an archived project from the iDVD 6 that I have copied to my new CPU. From iDVD's main selection window, if I choose open an existing project, and select the project, it never opens. Instead I am returned to the selection window.
As an experiment, I have copied over my iPhoto library and and placed a folder with some images the original project referenced at the same location of this machine. It didn't help.
The file I am tring to open is called "50 Years Archived.dvdproj" and was created with iDVD 6.
I am using iDVD 7. When I installed this version of iLife, I chose not to install iWeb and Garage Band since I am planning not use them. I had installed them on my old system.
I did not do a migration to get content from my old MBP to this new MBP. I drag-and-dropped the iDVD project file. I checked the permissions and they are set to "read/write" on the project file for my user, admin and others.
MBP/2.4GHz/2GB/160GB iLife 7 (with latest updates)

People often use the term 'archived project' rather loosely. It IS possible to create an actual archived project out of iDVD - it's an option under FILE. Is THIS what you did? ... or are you simply referring to the iDVD 6 project file?
An actual 'archived project' file contains all the pieces that went into the project and is self-contained and usually large. I would expect this file to work.
On the other hand, if what you have is simply the old iDVD 6 project file - that contains links to parts of the project - I can see you might have a problem.
What do you have? An archived project or just a saved project file?

i have created a wd component consisting of two views.
in the first view i am displaying an alv which is bound to an internal table.
on selecting a record and clicking a button the second view gets called containing an interactive form (adobe form)
have provided a native wd submit button in the form which again calls the first view.
The first time when i run the program it works fine.
after clicking on submit the first view gets called again.
now if i select another record, the adobe form gets the previous value even though in the context it shows me the current record.
it always displays the record one previous to the current records selected.
kindly give ur valuable suggestions.

Keep in mind I'm not using a textfield component, just a
dynamic text box with the variable 'name' applied to it. Also,
doesn't it matter that send_lv.fname was created within the
LoadVars() method?
At any rate, I tried doing what you said with the following
code:
name = send_lv.fname+""+send_lv.lname;
However, what i end up getting in the textbox is
'undefinedundefined'. I can't apply variables to the text fields
instead because then it won't process the data to my php script.
Any other suggestions?

Why does idvd quit when i try to add media from iphoto?

In iDVD, whenever I click Media & then click Photos, it looks like i should be able to select items from iPhoto: But if I click any of the top-level items listed like Events or Photos, iDVD quits/closes without any error messages. This happens in both new & existing iDVD projects (I've never actually used iDVD before today). Also, in iMovie I can ony see older Events & photos in iPhoto when I try to add photos to a project. This makes me think there might be something up with my iPhoto software or its data.
I'm pretty sure I'm using the latest versions of iDVD & iPhoto from the old iLife ('08) included with my MacBook Pro: iDVD version 7.1.2 (1158), iMovie version 8.0.6 (821), & iPhoto version 8.1.2 (424), running on Mac OS X version 10.6.8. I assume the Apple Software Update app automatically installed whatever updates I have over the versions that shipped with my computer.

Try this basic troubleshooting fix :
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.

Recording from previous start position

This might be so basic, but is there a key command for recording from previous recording start? I often find myself in a situation where I record something with my keyboard and wanting to do another take from the same song position I started the previous recording. And loop recording is really not an option here because I like to record longer takes and sometimes I'm just simply not happy with my groove and would just like to start quickly all over again... Thanks!

When you have recorded a take and are not happy with it, pressing the record key again (before stopping your recording) will instantly nuke that take and start recording again from the start point.
Also check out the "Record Repeat" key command.

I've adjusted all the settings under mail preferences, but that is not helping.

After a brief bit of research, you're definitely hitting upon the limitation of the browsers. Not all of the browsers have implemented this part of the HTML5 standard, so you're going to either have to use Flash or be limited to these specific browsers.

A "hard reset" will do the same thing.
Make sure that the AirPort Extreme is powered on
Hold in the reset button for a few seconds and the amber light will begin to blink more quickly. Keep holding the reset button when you see this for another 4-5 seconds and release
Allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility and click Continue to follow the guided setup

Can't record selecting from menus

When recording an application in demonstration or custom
recording mode, Captivate 2 does not record selecting a menu option
from a menu on the menu bar. The drop-down menu is not recorded and
sometimes a slide is not captured when I selected a menu option.
Other times I can see the mouse click where I was selecting the
menu option but there is no menu visible.
Is there a workaround for this?

Let me guess. You are recording a Web Based application.
Right?
Do the menus get captured but are on the next slide?
If so, you simply need to supplement your auto captures with
occasional manual captures. Perhaps as follows:
Start the app and begin recording. Move slowly and listen for
the shutter sound. Where you tend to notice the shutter sound came
too fast and the screen wasn't fully "there" at the time it
occurred, press Print Screen to force a capture. Then move to the
next action.

You might try restarting your device, your router and your Apple TV.

How do I export from IMovie when "not enough room in Heap Zone" error code appears? How can I correct, what to Do.."export movie" insteand of Media browser or IDVD? Finalize movie? I want to burn it to DVD!

I shortened the movie, that is no cure...Correcting date info on clips does not pertain. Why would Apple throw roadblocks in your way without solving problems they create?
A techie made an appointment on the phone and was totally incapable of addressing the problem.

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

Media from memory recorder goes offline after downloaded to FCP

Hi guys, I just bought a Sony HVR Z5U with the Memory Recording unit. My problem is once I get the media into FCP and turn of the recording unit, the media goes off line, even after saving the project. Is there a setting I don't know about here to save the media within my hard drives so I don't have to keep all footage on the compact flash card?

Apology accepted. I've always Logged and Captured footage from tapes, did the editing, saved the project to a external and it has always been there when I went back to work on it. I didn't know you had to save media from a recorder unit to the external first, because I have never dealt with it before. Thanks for the help.

Enabled Constraints
During a direct path load, the constraints that remain enabled are as follows:

NOT NULL constraints are checked at column array build time. Any row that violates the NOT NULL constraint is rejected.
Even though UNIQUE constraints remain enabled during direct path loads, any rows that violate those constraints are loaded anyway (this is different than in conventional path in which such rows would be rejected). When indexes are rebuilt at the end of the direct path load, UNIQUE constraints are verified and if a violation is detected, then the index will be left in an Index Unusable state.
