Recording Streaming Video-Audio

A class I'm taking does not offer a permanent written syllabus or treatise to retain for reference, only a streaming video-audio. Is there any way to record or capture the show on either my iMac 20" Intel or MacBookPro Intel? This is strictly for my own use and reference.
I presume this would somehow go into iMovie HD, which of course I have on these machines as part of OS X 10.4.9.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

How do you access the stream? I.e. what format is it in, and what applications can you use to watch it. Some players allow you to save (or export) the stream. Some streams are setup so that these options become disabled in the player.
Unless you want to edit the video after you captured it, iMovie will not be part of the solution.

Can I use quicktime for recording streaming videos with sound? If not which Apple software can do it?
    Bye Christof

You can use Quicktime to record streaming video +with it's audio+ by using a very simple trick. Using the same cable you connect your iPod/iPhone to your car's stereo system, connect your Mac's Audio OUT to its MIKE IN jack. I used FILE / OPEN URL to select the video stream source, then selected FILE / NEW SCREEN RECORDING. In the resulting 'Screen Recording' dialog box, I set the AUDIO slider all the way to the right, and under the arrow to the right, selected "Built-in Input Line In" for the microphone. I then used the appropriate controls to play the stream and record it. The resultant file was very acceptable. Good luck.

  • Recording streaming flash audio

Can anyone recommend an application for recording streaming flash audio from a BBC webpage such as http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/ne … 149211.stm
There are windows apps available (eg Replay AV) but I'd like to use linux.  Preferably without jumping through hoops, as well

  • ITunes 11 no longer allowing to stream video audio to an Airport?

I just istalled iTunes 11 and discovered that when watching videos, I am no longer able to stream the audio to an AirportExpress connected to a DAC.  Very annoyingly, the new iTunes 11 user interface killed the AirportExpress entries from the output menu when wathing videos (it only lets you stream to an Apple TV), but when listening to music, all AirportExpress options are still available.  Why can't I select where I want to stream my video to and - separately - where I want to stream the audio to?  This is very disappointing, Apple: you've eliminated a key feature of a well-functioning Apple ecosystem at home.

I am so beyond fed up with this and with Apple.  THANK GOD I just switched to a Galaxy S3.  The whole reason I did it is because iOS 6 crossed the line, especially with the removal of the native Google apps, only to replace Maps with the biggest joke of a maps app I have ever seen in my life.  Within 5 minutes of turning on my new Android phone, literally every single feature, down to the most minor detail, was better than iPhone.  Every iPhone user that has checked out my new phone says the same thing.  I cannot find ONE thing that is better on the iPhone.  Not ONE thing.
Before activating my new awesome phone, I wanted to sync my busted old piece of junk iPhone with Google contacts so I can seamlessly transfer them to the new phone, and lo & behold, I encounter even more of Apple's BS with regard to Google.
Apple, I can promise you this... by taking this stance against Google & making things SO much harder for your users, you are driving them away from Apple in DROVES, and straight into Googles open arms.  Prepare to circle the drain.  Switching to Android is the best decision I've made all year.  I LOVE MY NEW PHONE!

    Hi rafromffx,
You can use AirPlay to stream content from an iPad to your Apple TV. See this article for how to do it and the requirements -

  • Record Streaming Video from Computer

I need to "capture" streaming video that plays on a computer.
I can't seperate out the file, just need to record as it plays. If
Captivate can't do it, does anyone know of another program that
    can?
    Thanks much!

I have had this problem with TechSmith's software as well.
Try turning off video hardware acceleration.
Also, make sure you don't move anything once you've begun.
Oddly, even screen recordings made with TechSmith's Morae recording .NET 3 applicaitons can lose the content and present a black screen.
    Here's the drill:
        Record a software interaction.
Edit and export video. (If you move the editing window, the recorded image seems to stay where it was, but becomes invisible. Sort of like sliding a cropping guide off a picture and onto a table.)
Launch video player and play recording
        Move video player.
Recording disappears until you put player back where it was.
I've had similar problems with Camtasia and SnagIt.

  • I want to record streaming video

I want to record some streaming video from the Olympics. The sailing events were streamed live and are still available for viewing from some server through the NBC site. I can't figure how to do it.
    Anyone know?

I have Toast Titanium 11 and I've never actually gotten the "capture web video" to work. Now I haven't done any extensive reserach on the matter as it's something I've only tried twice and have researched the manual, too - when I select Web Video the progress wheel just turns and turns. Would sure like to know if others have gotten this to work - I'd be interested.

  • Simultaneous Recording of Video & Audio via firewire

I just got a Belkin firewire hub and it works great in terms of getting video from my DVcam and audio from my Alesis MultiMix 8. What I've had to do, though, is record the video into iMovie while recording the audio into Garageband...and then syncing the two later, which is an onerous process.
My question is: Is there a way to get iMovie to lay down an audio track from the firewire input [which actually has some great quality] while live recording/importing from the cam? That's my wish.

    AlBook 17/1.6   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The 2 replies so far are interesting in that I have found both to be true; while mixing is not what I am after, I do want iMovie to ignore the cam audio and take the digital audio from the Alesis interface. Right now I record the audio to Garageband and copy the exported mp4 back into iMovie, syncing with the video track and turning off the audio iMovie origninally recorded. It's a little awkward.
Imagine iMovie and the Mac acting as a sort of digital switcher, enabling the user to choose which audio input to use while recording. Innovative thinking-- I wonder if they're listening in Cupertino?
Looking forward to more opinion/advice on this problem...and appreciating your collaboration thus far.

  • How to set/determine live recorded stream video quality?

    Hi,
I was wondering if I were to create a NetStream object and publish it passing in "record" (allowing the end user to record a video via webcam which is then stored on the FMS), how would I specify the bitrate and frame rates etc of the video being recorded? Is this something I need to configure flash media server to do or can I do this through action script?
    Thanks

FMS will record video at the bitrate/framerate which is published to the server. You'll set your encoding parameters on the client side from where the video is being published.
In the case of flash/flex, you would set this using the setMode and setQuality methods of the Camera class.

  • How do I record streaming video?

I want to record some programs on an internet TV site. It streams programs 24 hours a day. How do I do that? I tried using Safari and going to Activity to find the video but it didn't work for me.

This is the link of what I am trying to record.

    Here is a screenshot:
I had a browse around and I found a few free ones. Jing is OK but it only records for five minutes. There are demo versions you can try out there for free but they are limited in features, so no sound, logo over the screen etc.
I wonder if I can use VLC. The instructions looked complicated though.

  • Settings Problem for Streaming Video/Audio

I tried to watch the new OS 10.5 Panther. I receive the audio, but there is no video to watch. Can someone perhaps suggest a solution to being able to listen and watch the new system info.

Can you watch the movie trailers on the QuickTime site? If so, have you tried setting the Transport Setup: Custom>HTTP>Port ID 80 in the Advanced QuickTime System Preferences?
