I will be teaching a class at my home on Saturday. Is there a way for me to record the class (to a cd) using my laptop?

Yes, you can use GarageBand to record audio. You can use iMovie to record audio or audio and video. Then these can be burned to a cd or dvd. Audacity is also a good program to use for recording audio.

IDVD won't open with OS 10.5.8 -can't record on to blank DVD discs

When I attempt to open iDVD application, message says it won't open with this OS. Also when I insert a blank DVD (Verbatim) disc am unable to record a film on to it as I get this message: "The disc can't be burned because the device failed to calibrate the laser power for this level of media." I've seen this message on a previous post on this forum but could not see any solution posted. I have recorded onto DVD discs in the past (different make of disc and before I upgraded to Leopard).
I can record on to blank CD audio discs without any problem however.

The first thing to try (IMO important) is not to import directly from your camera. Get a Firewire-connected card reader (USB works also but is slow on Macs) and use the Mac's Finder to copy images from the card to a folder on the Mac hard drive. My description below describes a CF card, but the workflow is the same for an SD card or whatever.
I feel pretty strongly that camera-to-Aperture handling of original images puts originals at unnecessary risk. I suggest this workflow, first using the Finder (not Aperture) to copy images from CF card to computer hard drive:
• Remove the CF card from the camera and insert it into a CF card reader. Faster readers and faster cards are preferable, and Firewire is much preferable to USB2.
• Finder-copy images from CF to a labeled folder on the intended permanent Masters location hard drive.
• Eject CF.
• Burn DVD copies of the original images (optional backup step).
• Eject DVDs (optional backup step).
• From within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location."
• Review pix for completeness (e.g. a 500-pic shoot has 500 valid images showing).
• Reformat CF in camera, and archive DVDs of originals off site.
Note that the "eject" steps above are important in order to avoid mistakenly working on removable media.
Good luck! The camera-to-Aperture workflow may or may not be the cause of your specific problem this time but in any event card-to-finder long term will provide a more solid workflow.

CRM 2013 Opening salesorder record results in blank page

I am using CRM 2013 on-premise and I'm having an issue viewing Order records. I can see the list of Active Orders, but when I click an Order record to open it, I get a blank page.
I have tried the following to fix this:
Cleared my cookies and cache
Navigated to another Org under the same URL
IIS reset on the web site
Full server reboot
I have found several posts saying this is a known bug in CRM 2013 and the "fixes" were the items listed above. Has anyone else run into this issue and not been able to resolve using the aforementioned work-arounds?
I also get an additional error when I try to navigate away from the blank page:

If from an online link, I have seen the same before. This usually occurs if the server where the document is located is very slow. Retrying (F5) usually resolves the problem.

Mountain Lion displayed previously recorded CD as Blank

Hi I have recently come across an issue (BUG) in mountain lion.
Pervasively recorded CD's from old OS now show as blank?
If you dual book into windows or put the CD into SL 10.6 information displays, but for some reason ML 10.8 displays the disk as BLANK.
I have spoke to Senior techs and apple store Geniuses who just told me that ML is not compatible with older OS?

SOLUTION:
After a lot of searching around I figure this was not the CD's problem but rather the session language in which it was originally Recorded / Burned. I figured as it was an old disk it may have been burned with Legacy software language eg Joliet level3 or something.
To read these apparent disks in ML you need to do the following in terminal to force mount the older cd session.
1.Open terminal
2.List all volumes to determine which volume we need to force mount.
$ diskutil list
identify the CD mount identifier for the first volume mine was disk1s1. disk0 is normally your internal HD and disk1 is normally the first other drive you have inserted in your system, in this case the CD.
Note if you have other .dmg files mounted or usb drives mounted the CD may be on disk2 or disk3?
Once you determine which disk it is you want to mount the first partition of that disk.
In my case it was disk1s1.
From trial and error I figured it was normally the first s1 after the disk rather than s1s1 or s1s2
this is what you will get once you run $ diskutil list
/dev/disk1
   #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
   0:        CD_partition_scheme                        *790.8 MB   disk1
   1:     Apple_partition_scheme                         658.4 MB   disk1s1
   2:        Apple_partition_map                         1.0 KB     disk1s1s1

Once you know the disk IDENTIFIER as disk1s1 we can force mount it using something called cd9660.fs.
3. we need to make a directory for us to mount the partition into.
$ mkdir /Volumes/tempCD
4. now we can mount the partition disk1s1 into our newly created tempCD directory
$ sudo /System/Library/Filesystems/cd9660.fs/Contents/Resources/cd9660.util -M disk1s1 /Volumes/tempCD
sudo means you will have to put the admin password in when you run this command.
You will now get a mounted CD called tempCD and you should be able to browse the files on it.
5. to unmount the CD you will have to run this command
$ sudo /System/Library/Filesystems/cd9660.fs/Contents/Resources/cd9660.util -u disk1s1 /Volumes/tempCD
In future you do not need to run the $ mkdir /Volumes/tempCD as it already exists so you only need to run mount and unmount steps 4 and 5 and of course each time you put in a new disk run step 1 to make sure you are mounting the correct partition of the correct disk.
this has worked for me and has allowed me to read old CD's that ML had decided were not compatible.
Apple if you read this why do you drop finder support for older CD's?

There is a workaround to use for strict backup purposes:
The Notes data is stored in 3 files, deep inside your Library folder.
To see the Library folder:
In Finder       Go (hold Alt/Option key) select Library,
then drill to   Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes   << backup this folder.

NotesV1.storedata-wal

Can DNSServer Powershell module cmdlets be used to add a host record with a blank name? i.e. "(same as parent folder)"

Giving Add-DnsServerResourceRecordA a blank name yields an error (basically saying that the 'Name' parameter cannot be null or empty). In DNS Manager (dnsmgmt.msc)
adding such a host record yields a record with the same name as the parent folder, denoted by "(same as parent folder)" in the Name column.
Is there some flag I can pass to Add-DnsServerResourceRecordA to achieve the latter functionality? Is there some other way to achieve this in Powershell?
I currently have the line of PS below, and if $name="" I get the error.
Add-DnsServerResourceRecordA -IPv4Address $ip -ZoneName $zone -Name $name -ComputerName $dns

Record voiceover problem - blank clips laid down

Hello all, bit of a curious problem. I am using the FCP X record voiceover facility but after making a recording, the track laid down is mute / blank. It has no waveform at all, as if nothing has been laid down. This has happened with every attempt ,so I have reinstalled FCP X and tried again. Same each time since. The recording process appears to be working normally but nothing is in the track clip that has been laid down.
I have also used the Quicktime Player audio recording facility to test my computer. It all worked fine and I imported the quicktime audio to the storyline on FCP and played it back no problem. So what could be causing the issue here ?
I have also tried another USB mic system that was working fine on another computer with FCP. That didn't work on my laptop either, same problem, goes through the motions, appears to make a recording and then you discover nothing is in the clip. I also tested my Shure kit on the other computer , it all worked fine, as you would expect.
I am using FCP X and a Coles Lip mic , a Shure X2U USB pre amp and a Shure mic to line amp to drive the mic before the Shure unit as on it's own it is quite hissy.
Appears that the Shure X2U is driverless post 10.4.

Thanks, have been through this. None of the mics attached to FCP end up recording a vo. I have changed the system settings each time to show my Shure preamp, my Blue Snow Ball USB mic and have even tried to use my internal mic on the laptop to record a VO.All of them have been correctly selected for VO, they appear to make a recording but when you play back the new clip , there is nothing contained in it . There is no waveform and no audio , just a blank empty green space ! I can make a quicktime recording on the same laptop using any of my mics etc and import it to the timeline , no issue. I have also used my all my mics on another FCP set up and they have worked first time. The issue is with my FCP on my laptop. I have even reinstalled FCP and still the same.

Insert Record creates extra blank record

Hi, all. I'm trying to figure out what I've got going on.
I have setup a php/mysql job log system.
The problem: At random moments, my insert record page will create a blank record in my db. It doesn't do every time, nor every other time. It may only happen once in a day, maybe three times in a day. Never is it consistent.
I know this is a 'can-o-worms', but I'm trying to figure out where to start.
What are possible causes, etc.. Just some clue.

I can post code I guess, but I think it has to do with Dreamweaver testing dynamic data automatically. I've turned that option off to see what happens. Any knowledge of that sort of thing.

Report problem (Paginations show record count, report blank)

I am using a custom report template to show data in detail form and allowing users to use the pagination to move from record to record. I have the maximum rows returned as 1.
The problem is in a very specific set of circumstances if the query returns only two results the report shows nothing. The pagination show two records (using search engine pagination style) but nothing (with the exception of the top and bottom pagination bars) is displayed until the user clicks on one of the linked numbers.
Has anyone had similar problems, does anyone have any idea how to correct this problem?

Check any branches to this page to see that they have "reset pagination for this page" checked. I had a problem with pagination where the user could specify query criteria and the branch back to the page was not resetting the pagination.

Is is possible to stop recording after x blank seconds

I'm converting quite a few cassettes to mp3 in Garage Band. Is there a way to tell Garage Band to stop recording after a specific number of bland seconds? I'd like to be able to walk away from recording and have it stop recording at the end of the tape.

XI to BW RFC showing blank records in BW

Hello everybody,
Here is our scenario. XI picks up an xml file using File adapter and executes some mapping in XI and sends to BW to make an RFC call and data is being inserted to a table.
This was working perfectly fine until I tested the scenario with a different XML file, all records showed up blank (there are 2 rows but all the values are blank). Nothing wrong with the XML file, I just changed one of the date fields. From then on, even if I test with the old XML file, it is showing up blank in BW.
We did not touch the configuration on XI nor BW. All settings are the same as it was before..no changes.
No errors on MONI, the message is going out of the adapter in correct format. So no errors on XI side.
Any ideas to solve this problem would be deeply appreciated.

Test the mapping with live data from SXMB_MONI. and check the target structure is populated correctly or not.
Also check the is RFC is throwing some exceptions , Any data format exception may occure here. For this check the data type of RFC and try to compare with input values.
Also do the Cache Refresh in From XI home page ->Administration->Cache Overview.
Also refresh the Reciever Determination and Reciever Agreement .

Delete blank records from the cube

Hello;
We just upgraded from 3.5 to 7.0. When we started running our queries for the Inventory cube, we were getting an error message of "Error: The validity interval has the initial value as lower limit".
When I checked the cube, I found records that were blank, such as no dates, plants, etc.. I then tried to see if I can delete those records, but I cannot find a way to do this. Can someone tell me how to delete the blank records or any records from the cube directly? When I run the queries from the ODS, I do not get any errors at this time.
Any information, suggestions or HELP is greatly appreciated.

Hello Maximina,
You could try writing in some code that would delete the records which have some fields as blank in the start routine of the transformation that connects the ODS to the cube . So that the next time you load data from the ODS to the cube .. they would stay deleted .

ODS Key Fields allows blank values in Transformation

Dear Experts,
I have two layers:
1. Datawarehouse layer (purpose is to represent exactly data at the backend)
2. Consolidation Layer
Scenario 1:
In Datawarehouse layer, the fiscal variant is a key field in ODS and I have two other key fields i.e. combine to form a composite key.
When I load the data from PSA to this ODS, I have a record which contains blank value for the fiscal variant. It successfully loads into the Datawarehouse ODS.
Sceanrio 2:
In the consolidation layer, i have 4 key fields out of which fiscal variant is one of them. Now when I load the data from the datawarehouse ods to consolidated ods, it throws an error saying:
Diagnosis
     An exception fiscvarnt_missing was raised while executin
     module RST_TOBJ_TO_DERIVED_TOBJ .
System Response
     Processing the corresponding record has been terminated.
The transformation mapping for the fiscal varaint in both sceanarios is 1:1 mapping with the rule type 'Time Characteristic'.
My questions is:
1. Why different behaviour during scenario 1 and sceanario 2
2. Solution to the above issue

Yes the format selected in the field for the datasource is 'Internal'.
When loading the data from R3>PSA>ODSX(Datawarehouse Layer), I have no problems even when the field is blank.
When loading from ODSX-->ODSY(Consolidated Layer) the empty (blank) field for that records throws error.
Any ideas?
