Recording to Ipod through Input?

I have a bullet camera with a 3.5mm input that says it will record to many personal media players. I heard that the new 5th G ipods will record sound, how about video?
Anyone know how to, or even if its possible to record from a camera directly to an ipod?
I was planning on buying a 30g video ipod and only need about 5 gigs, so I could use the rest for recording video. Then i could sell my Archos

Get an aux connection with 3.5 and then connet it with the headsethole and you can listen to your music Have fun

Why do I have to change source input to mono when it's recorded in stereo through my interface from an acoustic pick up in order to hear anything in playback?
It's a dean markley acoustic pick up with a mono 1/4" jack. It's plugged into a focusrite interface. GarageBand only records it in stereo and only plays it back in mono.

you appear to already know the answer, however...

  • Can't record into Logic through the built-in mike

Hi guys, just faced a strange thing in Logic 8, want to record my voice through my MacbookPro's internal mike, so in Audio preferences I've put an in-built input, in System preferences put input and output to in-built speakers and mike, but I can't move the track level meter in Logic with my voice at all, and there's no waveform, no sound is going inside, i got just an empty audio region, while in the System's preferences window the level meter moves when I'm saying sth...What can it be?Anyone faced the same?
    Thank you

you need to select the build in microphone as the input in Logic Audio preferences as well.
it's the 1st on the drop down menu in Input Device Logic's Audio prefs.
And mute the output of the build in speakers or wear headphones

  • Strange song titles after transfering backup music to iPod through iTunes

Hi, i recently lost my iPod classic(80GB) which i have been using soly as a music player. Luckily i had made a backup before i lost it. I then baught a new iPod classic(160GB) and *transfered my backup to my new iPod through iTunes*. This workded fine, except that *alot of the songs titles have been changed to something like: AYFV, GGVE, YVOB etc* ( i transfered my backed up music directly to my connected iPod, not putting them in the iTunes Library first )
I have about 9000 songs on it, and i dont know how to find many of the songs i like and love. I remember most of my songs by its Tittle rather than Artist or Album. I have a Samsung Galaxy with SoundHound downloaded... but scrolling through 9000 songs to find the 'corrupted' titles and changing them kinda throws me off
Why has this happened? What can i do about it? How can i prevent this from happening in the future? Can i back up my playlists as well?

Most media files contain some form of tag which records details such as the title, track number, artist. etc. If you import such a file into iTunes then iTunes will read the tag data from it and list the data that it has found. For files which don't have a tag, typically those in .wav format but .mp3 files don't have to have tags, the only information iTunes has when it imports will be the filename.
Although the tag can record much of the metadata (data about data) of the file, certain information such as ratings, playcounts and playlist membership is stored in a database. There is a database for your local iTunes library and a database on the iPod. Putting the media files onto the iPod in their XXXX.<ext> format *is not enough* for them installed into the iPod's database. Despite your description above, if you were able to restore your iPod backup to a new device, then you must have backed up and then restored the whole drive, not just the Music folder. If you still have the whole image and a compatible device then you can do this again.
When iTunes places media on an iPod it uses the F00-FXX folders and XXXX.<ext> filenames in a scheme called a hash table. The details aren't important, but it is a way of efficiently relabelling files with much shorter filenames that won't clash with each other. As a by-product it also discourages casual piracy from the iPod's drive since you don't know which file is which.
If you only have the media files then, as you have seen, the best you can do is import them into iTunes. Those which have tags will be correctly reorganised. Those without will be given their current filenames as their track names and placed in the Unknown Artist\Unknown Album folder. I would suspect that most of these files will be in .wav format in which case you will have to listen to and rename them one at a time. If however there are files in .mp3 or .acc format then you may be able to build tags for them using MusicBrainz Picard Tagger. iTunes won't detect any updates you make with third party tools, but I have a script for that called UpdateTagInfo.
Given how easy it is for an iPod to be lost, stolen or damaged it should not be relied upon as the only place for your media. It makes much more sense to to maintain your library in iTunes on your computer, then sync that library to the device. Instead of backing up the device, which takes ages each time and limits you to replacing it with an identical device, back up the library.
*Fast backup for iTunes library (Windows Only)*
Grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes.

  • DVD's from my ipod through the Clarion VRX755VD ????

I'm really curious as to whether or not i will be able to play dvd's from an ipod through an indash dvd unit in my car. The unit in question is a Clarion VRX755VD http://www.clarion.com/usa/products/multimedia/VRX755VD.html
Anyone whom could provide any information regarding this matter it would be appreciated.
    cheers

According to the Clarion spec, it can take an AV input, with an addition cable that you can purchase for the Ipod video, this should work, it's like attaching your Ipod to view movies on your regular tv.

  • Broadcasting iPod through home/car stereo speakers

In light of the recent demise of my iTrip, can anyone please provide me a detailed set of alternative solutions for playing music from my iPod through the speakers mentioned in the thread title? Try and specify the pros and cons of each alternative, state your personal preference and provide a why for that statement. Thank you very much

Okay, fair enough on the essay bit mate! I'm still doing them in college, so I know where you're coming from.
About the iTrip, is there a new one out for the iPod video? Seeing as the machine no longer has that second input beside the headphone jack, my iTrip is now useless. I didn't feel the need to specify this as being in an iPod video forum, I felt it was implied. But again, have they released a new iTrip for the iPod video?

  • How do I view the songs on my iPod and how do I delete some songs and pictures that are on my iPod through the new iTunes

I just bought an iPod off of a friend andher ex put alot of terrible music and pictures on it and I want to delete some music but I can't see what is on The iPod through the iTunes so I can erase music. So all I wanna know is how do I see and erase the stuff on my iPod using iTunes on my lab top

If you have iTunes 11 on your laptop then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You should then be able to connect the iPod and it should show on that left-hand sidebar, and underneath it should be a Music section e.g. similar to :
Select that and the music should be shown on the right-hand side of iTunes, which you can then use to delete it.
You should be able to remove all content from the iPod directly on it via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings, as any apps etc that are on it will be tied to the previous owner's id - that will also remove any photos from the iPod

  • Unable to play purchased music on my iPod through my PC at work

I purchased music using my PC at home. While at work, I prefer to connect my iPod to my PC and play through the PC. However, I just noticed that my PC wants me to purchase or reauthorize the music I have already purchased at home to play on my iPod through my PC. I don't want to do this as I will use up one of my transfers. I think this might be a bug. Any ideas?

But they're still playing "through" iTunes... and iTunes needs to be able to read the protected tracks. It won't be able to do that unless it's authorized to do so.
Why not just authorize it? It's not that big a deal...

  • How do I listen to the songs on my iPod through  computer speakers?

    Ok. I give up.
I don't understand how this iPod Shuffle works.
I got it a few months ago, and copied three or four Brian Eno albums onto it (46 songs to be exact).
I can listen to the songs on the iPod when I am using it with the earphones, but when I plug it into the computer, it says something about "some of the items in the library were not copied to the iPod because they could not be found." (Meaning none of the songs were copied.)
I don't understand what it's trying to do.
The songs were already on the iPod. Why is it trying to "copy" them on to it?
And if I unplug the iPod from the computer and play it through the headphones, the songs are still there.
    Could somebody please help me?
I just want to be able to listen to the songs that are on my iPod through my computer speakers. How on earth do I do that?!!

I have the syncing option unchecked, that is why I do not understand why it is trying to sync.
I am also trying to play songs off my iPod via iTunes.
I also don't understand why I need to have the same songs on my PC if they are on the Shuffle. My songs are on my external hard drive... which I don't always have turned on, or with me for that matter. I certainly don't want to be hauling a hard drive around with me wherever I travel to. I want to be able to copy a small number of my favourite songs onto the Shuffle so I can carry the Shuffle and the laptop around with me and listen to them.
    I need to be portable!!!

  • I bought a new computer authorized it, and transfered my purchased items, but itunes wont let me manage my ipod through itunes, i.e. I cant arrange  my spring board install or uninstall apps through itunes everything on the ipods apps page is unclickable?

I can't change anything on my ipod through itunes what might be the problem? I stransfered everything, I authorized my computer but I cant use the apps page on itunes all the apps inside the ipod picture and on the side are faded and I cant click on any of them, and I need it to arrange my apps in my ipod , since its much easier this way. any solution?

Because you changed your syncing iTunes library.  You can only sync to one iTunes library.  If all yur apps and music and other stuff in on your new computer you have these options:
    - Restore from backup.  Check the Devices tab in iTunes' Prferences to see if there is there.  You can tell by name and date.  If it is there then restore from that backup. If the backup is not there you need to go back to your old computer and move/opy the iPod backup to the new computer.  That file is located:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.
    - If you do not have the backup all you can do is to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync everything from the new computer.  You will lose app data.

  • Updated to iTunes 7 and can no longer play music off my iPod through iTunes

The title says it all. I can no longer play music from my iPod through iTunes now that I have upgraded. When I click on my iPod there is a little black lock beside where it shows the disk usage.
anyone have any ideas. I like some of the new features of this version of iTunes but it really seems to be a few steps backwards.

That little lock usually indicates that the iPod is set to autosync. In order to play iPod content through iTunes, you have to be on manual sync.

  • How to listen to iPod through new tv?

I'm trying to listen to 80gig, I believe, 5thgen iPod through new LCD tv. I tried RCA to headphone jack, RCA to plug at bottom of iPod, and VGA adapter. Everything gives no signal message on tv, what should I do? I was able to listen through old TVs using RCA to headphone jack.

It probably mutes audio when there’s no video signal. Mine does that; unplug the yellow cable and the red and white ones do nothing. You can try using video from another source with audio from your iPod, but Apple would probably prefer you use the official cables listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1454
