Recording videos/games from VGA to VCR

Hi there,
I'd tried to record some videos from my pc to a vcr using tv-out but the image was completely strange... colors blinking...
I thought that this problem was occurring only with videos but I tried to record NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND images while playing and everything else on my computer, even the desktop screen.
Configuration: vga tv-out plugged in vcr video-in (RCA) and vcr plugged in tv through coaxial cable.
The image goes fine on tv, the problem only occurs when I try to record, and I tried SP and EP configurations of my vcr and still nothing.
I need to copy some personal digital videos to a vhs...
 ???-)Can anybody help me please????????????
Thanx a lot.

Hi,
The problem might be the colour format you are ysing.
According to this list Brazil uses a unique system called PAL-M, which uses a Colour Subcarrier Frequency of 3.575611MHz, compared with the standard PAL frequency of 4.43361875MHz, or NTSC's 3.579545MHz.
Now, it's possible that your TV can cope with multiple standards, and so will work with whatever standard you are using at the moment. (The VCR will just pass the incoming signal to the output, without processing it to any great extent.)
When you try and record your PC output, the VCR has to be able to decode the colour information, so if it doesn't like the format, it won't record colour.
[Background note: The colour information is used to modulate a signal at the colour subcarrier frequency - so for PAL-M you get a signal which is mainly 3.57MHz. A VHS VCR can't actually record such a high frequency signal (limit is around 1.7MHz I think), so the VCR has to decode the colour signal and remodulate it on to a lower frequency carrier (around 700kHz) that can be recorded on the tape. (This is called "colour under"). On playback, the VCR retrieves the colour information and re-modulates it on the required colour subcarrier frequency. Some VCRs even give you the option of playing back a PAL recording with NTSC colour component (or vice versa). ]
Anyway, the short answer is, try changing either the PC's video output format to suit the VCR, or see if you can tell the VCR to record the format the PC puts out.
When all else fails, ....
Hope this helps,
Mike

  • Does Premier Elements allow me to record video streaming from the internet?

Does Premier Elements allow me to record video streaming from the internet?  If so which version and how?

    kc42k
Although Premiere Elements is not going to record streaming video from the Internet but there are other programs that can, you should consider the terms of service for the web site that is the source for the streaming video.
Online, there are very comprehensive articles on numerous programs that will do the recording.
But, even those articles point out that many of the Internet web sites that you target for their videos have terms of service that would legally prohibit the recording of streaming video from the named web sites, one example, YouTube, if no download button and depending on the terms of service.
Please consider. Any questions about the above, I can point you to the appropriate documentation on the matter.
    Thank you.

  • What is the best way to record video games on my mac

what is the best way to record video games on my mac?

I'm unclear about what you're asking - could you be a little clearer? I know you say that you want to "record video games" but I'm not sure if you're asking if you could, for instance, create a movie of video games as they're being played or what.

  • Recording video not from camera

I want to record video into Final Cut to edit from locations outside of my camera, i.e. the internet, DVD player, etc. My camera does not have the function to input video, it can only export it.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
    Thanks
    Matt

Internet video comes in various forms - obviously Quicktime is the friendliest for FCP, and in my experience AVI is the one most likely to have an obscure codec. Two of the best tools I have found for converting weird video from web (and digital security camera) sources is FFMpeg. You'll find it for free, along with others like mp4vdecoder at the apple website under downloads>video. For converting DVDs, the best free tool is Mpeg Streamclip by Squared 5, downloadable from http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/MPEGStreamclip1.9.1.dmg . It has a function to "Export to DV" which has a small idiosyncrasy: even though you can set audio to 48kHz, you still need to render audio (normally a trivial issue.)
Once you have converted the clip to the correct frame size and frame rate, it can be imported into FCP and edited into your project.

  • Where have my recorded videos gone from my ipad.

Hi can anyone help me, I recorded several family videos and they have just disappeared from my ipad! I have looked everywhere I can think of.

Videos taken on the iPad should show up in:
Photos > collections (look for the date)
Albums > Camera Roll and Videos
Under Shared if you actually shared them through iCloud.
If they are not showing up in any of those, it is likely they were inadvertently deleted.

  • Spartan-6 FPGA Dev Board plays Doom, a first-person shooter video game from 1993

Yesterday, I mentioned a port of Professor Nicklaus Wirth’s Oberon programming language and operating system to Saanlima's Pipistrello, a Spartan-6 FPGA development board. (See “Oberon System Implemented on a Low-Cost FPGA Board.”) There are many uses for a dev board however and one of the other ports to this board is the first-person shooter called “Doom,” which was originally developed to run on DOS PCs by id Software.
This FPGA-based implementation uses a recompilation of a source port called “Chocolate Doom” that runs on a 100MHz Xilinx MicroBlaze soft processor instantiated in the Pipistrello board’s Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA with additional HDL to handle the mouse, game controllers, video, and sound. Now running recompiled code for an x86 microprocessor on an FPGA-based, soft-core processor might not be the most obvious way to fully employ a Spartan-6 FPGA, but I think it’s a pretty cool demo nevertheless.
Here’s a short, 26-second video showing DOOM running in demo mode on the Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA:
Note: There are no sound effects in this short video because we didn’t hook up any speakers to the Pipistrello board.

    Excellent!
Gotta try Pac-Man. It is so much like the arcade version from the 80's it's scary. Also, Magnus has the Pipistrello working so well you can re-flash to/from Oberon to Pac-Man (or whatever) almost instantly. I mean, flash and boot in under 2 seconds. Quite impressive.

  • Recieve signals from WLAN NIC, decode and produce video signal from VGA or Composite Video out

i am trying to broadcast some MPEG4 video messages over a WLAN and display them on TVs and LCDs. i need to develope an interface between the wireless NIC and the display modoule. this interface has to be able to collect the information, decode the information to reproduce a video signal on a VGA socket or a normal TV composite video socket. does anyone has any ideas how i can achieve this?? please help me!! thank you!

    Hi,
Assuming that you are trying to use LabVIEW to achieve this,  I believe that it will be simplest if your wireless NIC exposes an ActiveX interface that LabVIEW can use.

I downloaded the latest iTunes from Apple and I get an error message when installing: The folder path 'Program Files' contains an invalid character. I don't even have an option of where to install it to. Has anyone else come across this or provide an easy solution without having to go and edit registry stuff?

This might not be the correct forum but maybe someone out there knows how i can record video from my computer. I need good quality videos like you would see on www.lynda.com. Would anyone know how this can be done?

I will suggest you contact the moderator at the F4M forum HERE. I think he's quite pro in this field of wmv encoding. Also, the article HERE, from Ken Stone, might be helpful.
There's another guy, Ben Wagoneer, who knows this stuff really well....I think you can find him at creative cow.
