Recording wih a mixer

Hey, I just got a new mixer that connects via a USB cable. I use it to record voices and such for my movies. I already figured out how to record with it into Final Cut. But, say I am using 2 different mics on the mixer. When I record, it records the two mics and puts it together on one timeline.
Is there a way I can have them recorded separately, but still at the same time. Like have the voice from the fist mic go on a different timeline then the voice from the second, 3rd, etc. mic.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

This depends partly on the mixer but I'm assuming it can do it. What are the input choices in FC when you use the mixer? How many channels are available? Look in the Video/Audio setup as well as the capture window.

I am using iMac OS 10.7.2 with Garageband'11 6.0.4. I can't record sound from  mixer Behringer X1622USB using USB out. when I connect the mixer to iMac via USB  appears USB Audio CODEC on Sound and Preferences but I can't get no sound from mixer to iMac only sound from iMac to mixer. I only can record sound using microphone line in. Please help.

    Eric,
Thanks for your reply. Realtek audio works only in playback. There is a stereo mix in the mixer but the recording controls are not operable with no sliders in the mixer for any recording option. Slider controls appear to be grayed out. Can't figure out how to enable them. Downloaded newest drivers to no avail.
The M Audio control panel has no apparent option for recording stereo mix. Adobe ignores the sound from the DVD or CD and shows flatline.
I'm trying to record the sound from the DVD not rip the track.
When I go to Audio Driver Setup and select Audition 3.0 windows sound, there is no input device installed.
I'm thinking of going back to a decent internal Soundblaster card like I have on my 8 year old machine I am replacing.

  • Recording a DJ mix on Garageband...only able to record an hour?

Hi, I'm trying to record my latest mix but the track stops recording after just over one hour, Is there a way to extend record time, i'm making sure I have plenty of disk space, have 6gig spare and the current mixes of just over the hour are only 800Mb so far so this doesn't seem to be the problem, and I make sure all other programs are closed. I haven't found any other options so far, can anyone offer any advice? Thanks.
Also, I'm recording directly from my mixer, I take it I need to record the track as a 'real instrument' as opposed to the 'record as software instrument' option.

I take it I need to record the track as a 'real instrument'
    yes
as opposed to the 'record as software instrument' option.
    that would be physically impossible.

  • Record a DJ Mix in Logic

o.k., here i am, trying to record a dj mix. Normaly i would use my minidisc recorder and audio cd recorder to do so. Now i want to use my mac for it.
But how do you do it? I've read all the other topics about recording a dj mix but i must say, it doesn't work for me. I've read that for this purpose you have to use garageband. IN either Garageband or Logic there is no incomming signal. I've hooked 2 jacks from the master output from my mixer to my soundcard(Firewire solo)to the unbalanced inputs.
Let me tell you the gear i use: 2 Pioneer CDJ800, 1 Pioneer DJM500, Macbookpro (read below) M-Audio Firewire solo, Logic Pro 7.2.3
I've tried to searc for any incomming signal in my logic trackmixer, but can't find it. Which region do i use for this?
    Help!
    Lewis
Macbook Pro 2,16 Ghz intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Logic express 7.2.3
Macbook Pro 2,16 Ghz intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Logic Pro 7.2.3

you don't use a region. use an audio track. click on the R button on say audio track 1. check to make sure the inputs 1-2 correspond to your soundcard inputs and you should be able to hear the incoming signal/mix.
another point: have you selected the correct audio interface in Logic?
goto to the main audio menu>audio hardware and .......... (think that's the name) then make sure your m-audio solo is selected as the interface in the relevant dropdown menu.
    hope that helps

  • Help Needed Recording A Dj Mix On Satellite C670

Does the Satellite C670 14P have a line in option through the mic/headphone sockets.
The problem is am trying to record a dj mix using a recording program but each time a recording is done it sounds like it is being recorded through the laptop speakers and not through the soundcard. I have my mixer plugged into the laptop using a phono to 2.5 jack lead I have both the mic and the headphone sockets but either make any difference to the sound.
    Can someone please help me.

    Thanks for replying.
On the desktop I had there was a mic/headphone and a third socket which was the line in which basically connected the phono from my mixer straight to the soundcard.
I will try the windows sound recorder I didnt know that option was there, I have been using sony sound forge as the recording program.
My mixer does not have a usb socket on it this is the lead I have been using http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Phono-Stereo-Audio-Cable/dp/B000Q6LSVS the red and white plugs go into my mixer and the jack gets plugged into the laptop.

  • How can I get Audition 3 to record my Stereo Mix output in Vista?

Under the Control Panel Ive set the Stereo Mix as the default recording selection, and can record my sound output in Sound Recorder. However, these are bad quality WMA files at 96khz.
When I try to record my Stereo Mix in Audition, it records silence.
Is there a way to fix it? Would an uninstall/reinstall work?
    Thank you everyone.

    Hi
Today I am now noticing that when I plug in a keyword into the search it wont pull up that exact keyword but dozens and dozens from my general list.  The keyword may be in that list but there is no reason it should be pulling up non related words.
I am guess this is all related to some sort of corruption issue.....how to de bug it...not sure.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Low volume recording audio w/ mixer

I have a Behringer UB1204- PRO mixer and I am trying to record vocals with that, but I can only record and get playback at a very quiet volume. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to recordng audio, but I have my phantom power on, it records fine, but I wanted to know how to turn it up because I can barely hear my vocals. My main mix sliders are up, the levels are green/yellow and I can still barely hear anything. Anything who is recording with a mixer and not a dedicated seperate preamp, can you help me out?

Is that going to affect the vocal quality if my trim is almost at the max?
it can, but that depends on the input. Use your ears.
OK, well the other thing is to look at the input attenuation on your audio interface. In most cases it should be -10dB (consumer)

  • How can I record my DJ mixes to my ipad?

I am trying to find a cheap viable solution to recording my DJ mixes to my iPad. The amount of external sound cards and apps is extensive and all range in price but choosing the right one is proving to be a mine field. I want quality but simplicity at the same time. Also I want to be able to upload to mix cloud, soundcloud and any other sites right from my ipad without transferring to my macbook (if that's possible).

You might be able to use the camera connection kit to interface.

  • In Logic Pro, how do I record a stereo mix of my project?

I want to have a tape delay plug-in kick in on the last beat of the song, with a high feedback setting so that last note repeats synced to the beat, and fades out slowly. I have everything tweaked so it sounds just like I want it to if I manually turn on the delay one beat before the last note. Obviously, if i bounce down to  stereo mix normally the effect won't turn on. So the first question is:
    1. How can I automate this process so it shows up in the bounce?
If there's no way to do that, then:
    2. How do I take the stereo mix  output of my project and record it in real time?
    Thanks for your time.
    Larry

Hey, Pancenter and Ahrensof, thanks for your help. I briefly tried what you suggested, and probably it would have worked with a different delay. Being  a well-modeled tape delay, suddenly changing the parameters produces artifacts. Then, before I had really spent much time with your ideas, I realized there was a hardware solution. The interface I use, an RME Fireface UFX, has a secondary recording system that records to a Fat 32 USB stick or drive. So I played back the project using the main interface system, clicked the delay on/off switch at the right point manually, and recorded it on the USB system. It worked perfectly.
I suspect that both your solutions would have worked had I spent enough time with them, so I'm going to try to click "solve" on both. I hope the forum software lets me do that. (It didn't. Sorrry Ahrensof, but I gave you a "This helped" and a "like.")
    Thanks again.

  • Recording from a mixer to my compu

Currently I am using a Behringer EurotrackUB802 mixer that is connected to my soundcard (sb li've! 24-bit) using a rca-to-/8th jack. Im using this soundcard until I get the money to get a digidesign or protools compatable soundcard with rca inputs. Whenever i try to record, its extrremley quiet and very poor quality. I have it going into my only line-in, which the instructions say isnt just a microphone input. is there anything i can do to make it louder and better quality?

    Hi
So you're using rca's for TAPE IN/OUT. Try instead the MAIN OUT path. This is the
path I use (Phonic) and what it's manual recommends.

  • Help recording from turntables/mixer

Alright, I'm sure this has been posted before or answered somewhere on the internet, but I haven't come up with any answers yet in my search. All I want to do is hook my mixer for my turn tables up to my Macbook so that I can record some of my LPs and make some mixes. I have an RCA to headphone cable hooked up to my line input, changed the input type at the appropriate places to line in, and that's about it. If anyone could at least point me in the direction of a tutorial on how to do this with Garageband. I've never used this program before, so I would appreciate complete directions. Thanks, peace.

I will go on a step by step with you to see if you got some input:
(note that the term maybe a little different since I use my OS in french)
in Preference system / sound under input select line in.
At this moment if you make your sound source play you should see the meter on that page move.
If it don't the computer don't get any signal so you must check before it.
in GB pref. select the audio input to be the same as preference system or to line in.
Select the track you want to record on click the info button ( i ).
there is a popup next to the text "input source". (if your setting is line in it should be ok, but
    don't heart to check)
Make sure that the track you want to record on is selected and that the red dot below the control of that track is red.
    hit record.

  • Recording vocals through mixer into new macbook help please!!!

Ok I have a condenser mic plugged into a eurorack for phantom power, new to mac so I see the settings need to be different than what I ran on window xp.
I'm not sure what mic level I need to use in garage band and what levels should I set my high, mediums, and lows on the mixer. I've spent at 9 hours or so messing with it. I'm frustrated with the hissing noise as well, and cant find the noise reducers or the hard limiting features. Also am wondering if there are any tutorial videos for garaband out there.

How s the mixer connected to the MBP? I assume some sort of 1/4" to 1/8" jack, or are you using a USB or firewire interface like an iMic?
In GB preferences make sure you have the proper input and output drivers set. If you're doing vocals with the mic, I'd recommend to increase thi mids to get a warm response, increase the mid freququency a bit for higher voices. Roll off the bass until it sounds bright and not muddled. The highs can be taken down a bit too if you're getting hissing noises. Maybe turn the trim on your mixer down. I have a behringer UB1202 and it can be very sensitive.
As for videos, I found these sites:

  • Recording from a mixer to ipad

I would like to get an iPad and be able to do some live recordings.  So here are my questions:
    1. Can you buy some type of device that would allow you to go out of a board into your iPad. (1/4', xlr, etc) Recommendations?
    2. What are some good apps for live recordings?
    Thanks!

I have not done it, but understand the Griffin iMic will work with the USB adapter in the Apple Camera Connection Kit.  See <iMic>.
If you will enter griffin imic in the search box at the top of this page, you will find several threads related to your question.
