Recording with guitar to computer through USB X-Fi

I am having a problem trying to record with my guitar through my USB X-Fi 5.. I am using a program called Audacity to capture the recording. I have my guitar hooked up to a Line 6 POD 2.0 effects device that has a left/right output. Then I plugged the /8th male end running from that into the Line-In port on the USB X-Fi 5. and then to my computer via USB. But I cannot hear my guitar when playing and it will not capture the recording. I basically bought the USB X-Fi 5. because when recording with my guitar I thought that my laptops sound card was making the recording of low quality. So I got the USB X-Fi 5. to help that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Message Edited by BulletFMV on 2-06-2008 03:42 PMMessage Edited by BulletFMV on 2-06-2008 03:43 PM

That USB audio interface isn't any better for recording from onboard sound. You should have bought least the Creative E-MU 0202 USB (if you prefer Creative products/USB audio interfaces).
With your current setup, instead of using Audacity, you could try, say, Cockos Reaper + Asio4All driver.

In any case, remember also read the software documentation as well ... all needed information for recording task is normally guided there in user manual(s).

how can i connect my iphone to computer through usb using windows 8?

If iTunes is installed, you just connect the iPhone to USB.

You can also sync to iTunes using WiFi.

  • HT4060 My I pad 2 is not charging throuh USB Power Adapter but it is chrging from computer through USB (with sign of no charging). Would  you please give any solution for that?

I have facing problem of charging my I pad through USB power adapter. It is not giving any response when connected to power adapter. When it is connected with USB port of computer it is charging with sign of "not charging" and it takes long time to cahrge. please help me to sove my problem.

I have no idea why the iPad would not be charging with another power adapter but will charge thought the USB port on your computer. Try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up
If that doesn't help, I think that the next thing that I would try would be to reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. If you do this, all device settings will have to be re-entered and tha does take some time to do.

  • Recording from guitar to computer

i'm new to logic, i just wanted to know what is the best way to connect your guitar to computer. What USB or any other device could you use to record with good quality. thanks.

You should look for a decent audio interface (firewire or usb). There are several brands available. Depends on your budget of course. I've got the Presonus Firepod and used it daily. It features clean preamps and is good value for money.

  • Beeping noises while recording with guitar. Help, please.

I am trying to record with my guitar in Garageband. There is a constant beeping noise in the backround. I have changed the input to the usb port that is hooked up to the guitar. I have read many forums about this problem, but nothing has helped. I really could use help. Thank you.

Did you ever figure this out? I am getting the same beeps and am at a loss of what to do.
    Thanks

  • Can an American iPad be synced with a European computer via USB

I know that I will need an adapter if I want to charge it via the wall socket but I was just wondering is there any special adapter I need to sync the ipad with my home computer (as in will the voltage difference in europe affect the ipad plugged in through a USB)

That is not a problem...no voltage difference between a European and US laptop through the USB port.
Once you get past the wall outlet/charger they are the same.

  • TS3682 Hi can not do back up of my data and pictures onto my computer through usb cable why?

Can not back up my phone to my computer using usb cable why?

You have to do a little bit better job of describing the problem. What happens when you try to backup? Do you get an error message? If your hard drive is close to being full, iTunes will not allow you to backup because of the lack of free space.
    Please provide more information.

  • Recording with M-Audio Fast Track  USB Audio Interface

New Mac owner and am completely lost. I am wanting to record guitar and vocal tracks into GB and when I plugged in the M-Audio I could see a wave file when after I hit the record button but I couldn't hear anything. I selected it as the default for input and output and turned the monitor on...but am getting zero sound. HELP!

I actually just picked one up and this is what the process is...
I must reiterate the first line... Do not install any of the packaged software as it does not help, or do anything beneficial... just use Garageband.
This is to record a plug in guitar.
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO LOAD ANY DISCS THAT COME WITH THE DEVICE
    1. Connect M-Audio Fast Track USB to appropriate USB port on computer.
ex. MacBook Pro - use forward port (port furthest away from display)
Also, see note 2 for M-Audio knowledge base, support etc...
    2. Open System Preferences and:
-Select M-Audio Fast Track USB icon
-Select "About" button and note Audio Firmware version
-Select "Updates" to open M-Audio web site
-Select: USB Audio Series<Fast Track USB< MAC OS 10.5.7 (or appropriate operating system)
-Note version number of latest drive and download if
    necessary to update your M-Audio
    - Select "Sound" in Hardware row of System Preferences
-Select "Input" button and select M-Audio Fast Track USB
    - No need to change "Output" regardless of how you want to listen to playback!
    3. Connect guitar to M-Audio box (a pre-amp will boost output, but is not necessary)
    - Make sure button on rear of M-Audio box is selected properly for guitar
    4. Open Garage Band (Do Not open Garage Band prior to connecting M-Audio)
    - Select New Project - Electric Guitar
    5. Open Garage Band Preferences
    - Select "Audio/MIDI" button
    -Audio Output select:
    - "Built-in Output" to use computer's speaker or headphones/speakers connected directly to computer OR
    - "M-Audio Fast Track USB" to listen to headphones/speakers
connected directly to M-Audio box (use Mix knob and Output knob on front of M-Audio box to control ouput if choosing this set-up)
    -Audio Input select:
    -"M-Audio Fast track USB"
    6. Choose an Amp model in Garage Band
    - Double-click picture of amp (this displays rear picture of amp and access to settings)
-Select: Input Source : Mono2(M-Audio Fast Track USB) NOT MONO 1!
of if using Mic and guitar : Stereo2 (M-Audio Fast Track USB)
    7. Record
This saved me from throwing the thing out the window... It works well now!

  • Recording with an external computer mic in Garageband?

    Hi,
I am trying to record an interview for a podcast on location and was trying to use an external computer mic. This isn't a professional mic or anything, just one that goes into your phone jack or line-in. cheap little thing many computers come with. the problem is i can't seem to get the recording to go through the mic. when i use Built-In Line-In nothing records. If i switch to Built-In Microphone, obviously then it works, but is using the internal mic.
Can anyone help me in the appropriate setting to use with an external microphone NOT coming in through an Audiophile or similar set-up (i have used a professional mic as well with an Audiophile, but needed something more portable)
    thank you in advance!

thanks - i tried bulletsandbones and have to admit i'm not sure it helped me. But maybe i'm missing something. I changed the recording options to Built-In Line-In but still nothing was recorded. the second link just says "depends on your processor" so it's not too much help. Basically is there a way for me to record using a line-in Mic WITHOUT it being a Firewall or USB device?

  • How can I print with a Windows computer through the AirPort?

Basically, I'm a college student in a dorm room with a wireless HP printer. I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch with Snow Leopard and my roommate has an Asus Eee PC with Windows XP. I use an Apple AirPort Express router and print through it with my computer wirelessly. Is there any way my roommate can print wirelessly from his computer? So far, I haven't figured out how to set it up and he just uses my computer whenever he needs to print something.

Since the printer has its own wireless built-in, as opposed to it connecting via USB to the Airport Express, then there shouldn't be an issue for the Asus to connect to the printer, providing it can connect to the Express also via wireless.
Unless someone here knows otherwise, I suggest you check the HP web site in case there is an additional utility required for XP to add a network wireless printer.
Usually, a network printer is added by selecting Local Printer, rather than Network as this is looking for server shared printers, and then you create a New Port and select Standard TCP/IP for the port type.

  • Trying to record with guitar

alright first and foremost, i'm new to mac and grageband, so far i'm loving it. next, i'm running into a problem. when i plug my guitar in the input, turn up the volume and turn "monitor:on" it still plays thru the mic. like i can tell the input is coming through the mic. am i missing something here? (i know i have to be) thanks in advance, a happy new mac user thus far though

i have the line-in selected, turned the internal mic all the way down, turned the line-in all the way up and i'll have head phones (noise cancelling) and i can talk and hear my voice through them as if my built in mic on my macbook pro is picking it up. (sorry i didn't include the computer type earlier) i have an epiphone noel gallagher supernova edition (basically a semi-hollow archtop electric) i selected line-in on system preferences, i didn't know if their is some other setting i need to change on garageband though (i did turn monitor to on).
do i need to buy like an audio interface to run into the laptop? i have read this in another forum, but i didn't know if i could get by without this or not.
alright, i think i may have answered my own question on that one. since it's a line-in, and i don't have a pre-amp on my guitar or anything, it's probably really low and wouldn't pick up. but i still don't understand why i could hear my voice over the headphones. oh well, i need to get an audio interface or something of the sort to actually amplify the guitar. next question: anyone know of one that will work well with intel macs?

  • Droid X won't charge when connected to computer through USB

I have a Droid X device and when I connect it to most computers it won't charge. I have the setting set to "Charge Only" but still won't charge. I have only come accross two computers that will charge the phone. Is there something else that I need to do? Other settings? Please help!

Are you using the charger that came with the phone?  Sometimes, the 'generic' USB chargers aren't able to keep up with the charging needs of the X.
Are you using an older computer?  I can't help but think that some older USB ports may not be strong enough...or even broken.

  • Windows XP connecting Peer-to-Peer to Windows 7 with HP LJ 4000 through USB-2-Parallel port

I am running a Peer-to-Peer network and cannot connect my Windows XP computer over the network the 'quasi-server' running Windows 7 that has a connected HP LaserJet 4000 printer connected via a USB-2-Parallel port.  The HP LJ4000 works just fine from the Windows 7 box (and serves ONLY as a backup printer) but connecting from either Windows XP PRO boxes will not work.
I have tried opening the Windows 7 Printers window and then updating the printer drivers, like it says it will, and that fails as well.
    ANY suggestions would be appreciated!
    Thank you,

  • Garage band records raw guitar and vocals through mic - sounds tin tinny...

i haven't changed any of my settings... i am not using any effects and using internal mic
i know its not going to be the highest quility but it still sounds really funky
    any suggestions

There are 3 tips that could help you get the best sound out to your tracks... 1. and USB audio/midi Interface 2. A GOOG audio cable (Monster is Great) 3. The third one is not a tip but rather what can contribute to that sound tin, check your guitar knobs and also make sure your bridge is not too low.
Also check your Mac's system preferences under audio settings etc.

    Hi,
Interesting cable you have there but, unless it's also and analog to digital converter, it may not work.
