Recording Your Voice

Is there a program on my macbook that will let me record audio using the built in mic? I want to use it for my college notes for studying... THANX!

Yes, there is alot of noise from the keyboard. I tend not to use my laptop when im recording, especially when its a video recording.
I use quicktime pro to record, and my files are about 55Mb per hour.
The sound is significantly quieter, so combine this wiht the inbuilt speakers, and you have quite lectures... I have to use external speakers and amp to help boost it. I find the quality very good comparing it to most mobile music players and PDAs. There is some noise, but very acceptable.
I normally record in lecture theateres of 100-300 in size, and it works ok from about the middle to the front.
my 2 cents

  • Can you record your voice in logic pro 9 just as simple as garageband or do you need a plug-in?

can you record your voice in logic pro 9 just as simple as garageband or do you need a plug-in or interface?

Alas, poor Logic, I knew him well.
Recording wise, It will be much the same as Garageband but you will need to read manuals as Logic doesn't set things up for you. You must choose input and output devices, create the correct tracks. Logic was designed for professional use so it expects users to be somewhat familiar with recording/editing techniques, in other words, won't hold your hand or be nearly as easy to use.

  • On Logic Pro 9, how do you record your voice?

I looked at Logic Pro > preferences > audio and then I saw devices. I clicked on Built-in microphone but I got feedback. I do not have an external mic.
Please write on the proper procedure to record my voice in an 'empty project' and/or 'songwriter'. please also give references to the manual. thx!

There's a forum dedicated to Logic Pro where experts on that software will be able to answer your question:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/logic_pro
Meanwhile, have you tried connecting a pair of headphones to disable the internal speakers and so prevent feedback from occuring?

  • How can I record my voice in my MBP

I am a new Mac user and I was wondering if I could record my voice in my MBP?
I didn't buy any additional software but the one that comes with the Leopard.

I don't know what "came with your Leopard" but if Garageband "came with your Leopard" you will be able to record your voice in that. You can also try Audacity which is a free recording/editing program for Audio.
    Wrong Forum by the way...

  • Recording your own commands for the Voice Over Utility

To Record your own commands for the Voice Over Utility?
    Is this possible?
    How?
    thanks

If you simply want to change the command used, or add an extra command that does the same thing, you just need to know that the file names are used as the name of the commands for Speakable Items.
If you open system preferences, the speech pane, select "Speech Recognition" at the top and then "Commands" on the next line there's a button there - it's labeled "Open Speakable Items Folder". Click on that and it shows you a folder containing all the global commands. If you want to change one of these, you can edit the file name. It's probably safer if you duplicate the file ("duplicate" from the context menu) and then change the name of the copy, so the original is still there in case of mishaps! I'm not sure if a comma in the file name would work but I suspect it wouldn't - none of the commands there have commas in them.
If you want to change a command in a specific application then open the "Application Speakable Items" folder and explore from there.
Another thing which might help is to go back to System Preferences and click on the "Global Speakable Items" in the command set list and then click the "Configure" button. There's an option there which will make more variations on the commands work.
The most complicated way is to write your own new speakable items. This gives you the most flexibility but also you need to learn some AppleScript to enable you to do it. If you want to learn AppleScript, check out the AppleScript resources - it does lots more than just speakable commands and the general resources should help you most.
    Best of luck!

  • How long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s, how long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s

how long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s, how long I can record a voice memo in my iphone 5s

Thanks Caramby.  I actually found another work-around
Here's how to copy the voice memo to your laptop (and then email it if you need to):
With iTunes open on the Voice Memo folder of your device (an iPhone 4s in my case), simply drag the required file from iTunes and onto the desktop of your pc/laptop.  It won't remove the file from your device but simply make a copy.   Then you can play the file from your pc/laptop (through Quicktime) as the file is in AAC format.  You can also attach the file to an email for sending.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • How can I record my voice on iMovie without needing to place a photo or video in?

I'm trying to make an anime review. But before placing photos in it, I wanted to record my voice first before adding pictures in it. So I was wondering what do I do to actually get my voice in it without it being cut because there were no photos or videos placed in? (I use a macbook)

You could insert a bunch of placeholders in the timeline before doing the voiceover.
You can find a range of placeholders (they are actually templates used in iMovie Trailers) in the Maps, Backgrounds & Animatics browser. This is the last browser at the end of the centre toolbar, after the Titles and Transitions browsers. Click on it and scroll down to see all the animatics (aka placholders or templates). Drag a number of these into your project timeline - as many as you think you need to cover your audio.
When you've finished the voiceover, drag photos directly onto the animatics and select Replace from the pop-up menu. Adjust the timing by using the Inspector (double-click a photo to open the Inspector, then change the duration).

  • How do I record a voice memo on the iPad? I don't see it under any of the applications or settings.

I am trying to record a voice memo on my iPad but cannot find the application anywhere. The specs indicate that it should be able to record, but I need help finding it. Any suggestions? Thank you!

The specs indicate that it can record if you are using the video camera in the camera app. The iPad does not come with a voice recorder app.
You will need to search the app store for one that suits your need.

  • Can I record my voice slide by slide in Keynote?

I know that I can record my voice over in Keynote by recording the entire slideshow, but what if I mess up on one slide?
Is there a way I can record just slide by slide rather than the whole project?

You can make smaller recordings as audio files in QT and place one audio file on each slide. With the file on the slide and selected, you can set its start using the Build Inspector.
In QuickTime, select File > New Audio Recording and when ready to record, click on the red button. Click on the button again to stop recording. File > Export the file to either the movies folder or your desktop.
In Keynote, either drag the audio file from the desktop to your slide or place the file from the Media Browser (Movies) Tab. Select the audio file on your slide and in the Build Inspector > Build In > Start Audio and in the More Options section select the Start Build On Click or Automatically (and set any desired delays)

  • After upgrading to IOS8.1 my microphone stopped working. cannot make a call, cannot record a voice memo, but Siri works !!!

after upgrading to IOS8.1 my microphone stopped working. cannot make a call, cannot record a voice memo, but Siri works !!! Surely this must be software since I presume there are not two microphones, one for Siri and one for everything else. Tried resetting, rebooting, switching off noise cancelling. What else is there?

    Hi there hansadj,

Which auto tune plugin are you using and  without wishing to sound rude.. But do you know how to use it correctly?
What you are describing sounds like improper use of an auto tune plugin to me.... Time for you to check out any tutorials on YouTube for your plugin....

  • Recording my voice in garage band

I have a basic logitech recording device with a usb connector. How do I record my voice to a track? I hit record but it doesn't recognize my voice as an input. I have already selected the logitech as an input device in my preferences.

Yes, it can (you do not need QT as the middle man). Just mix your narration and music in GarageBand, export to iTunes (aiff), then import the AIFF file into After Effects.
If it were me, I would create the music track in GarageBand, but keep the music and narration on seperate tracks, then mix them in After Effects. This way if your final product is too "music heavy" you do not need to go back in to GB to remix, you can do it in After Effects.

  • Cant hear or record my voice when on headset mode in calld but can use speaker phone

I just got a BlackBerry Z10. When I make calls or am called people can't hear my voice in normal headset mode but if I put them on speaker they can hear me. I tried seeing if I could record my voice and it's not picking up anything. Why in normal mode isn't it picking up anything? Is there a setting messed up or did I buy a defective phone? Why does the microphone pick up when in speaker phone mode but not normal headset mode?

You should run some tests to see what's happening. If you still have the Help icon on your homescreen, click it then click Testing at the bottom to run the tests. If you no longer have the Help icon, go to BlackBerry World and search for BBVE.
Keep us up to date on your progress.
