Recordings Losing Sound

i have the silver vision box which has been fine.  Recently though when I play back recordings I find that the sound goes, sometimes for a couple of seconds, often a lot longer (up to a minute).  The picture is fine, just the sound stopping and starting.  Any ideas

If you are connected using a SCART lead, check that both ends are securely plugged in. Try taking them out, then plugging them back in again.

  • Losing sound in headphone j

    Hiya,
My Zen Micro is just over yo and not used constantly. I thought my problem was with the headphones so I bought a new pair. When I stick the player into my pockets, the sound goes into just earphone; the pressure on the headphone jack whilst I walk affects the sound as if the jack is disconnecting from the player(hope that makes sense!). It's fine when I'm holding it in my hand. I bought the player to carry my music with me, which I now can't do as it keeps losing sound. Is there anyway of fixing this?
    Cheers in advance
    Shi'vers

This is a common problem with the Zen Micro. If you browse this forum you'll find a thread with 00 pages discussing this. The only way to fix it is to send it back to Creative to get it replaced, which can be costly if you're out of warranty and do not have an insurance on it. If this is the case, which I think it is as you've owned it for a year, and still like the Micro, I would recommend the MicroPhoto instead. It is almost identical but has a color screen and more storage but most importantly the quality problems with the original Micro (including this one) seem resolved, so you porbably won't get another Micro that also has this same liability.
I feel sorry for you, I've experienced this twice (though I bought it from a shop with a good warranty policy).
    Cheers

  • New mac book pro 15" late 2011 and logic pro user 9.1.7 losing sound in logic on reboot and start up any help please ?

keep losing sound when reopening logic would like to now if this is a lion related problem or logic , setting do not change.
All ways" save as" and name project and regularly "save".
this is really getting on my nerves i've swop to mac on advice it's a far more stable platform for audio, daw's and music.
I tend to use my computers in short 20 to 30 min sessions several times a day.
i had to revert to my windows computer because as well as learning logic pro and trying to figure out a new operating system it seems apple have adopted microsoft's approach, putting out a operating system and getting the hobbie techs to tell them whats wrong, this is like buying a car or house that you haft to finish building or wait for the contractors to come back to you, in there own sweettime.
    not impressed.

I have check hardware and everything seems to be ok.
How?  Did you run the AHT from system DVD #1?
after that first restart i get a blue screen.
You updated to OS 10.6.8 and everything else that needs updating?
If you did not repair permissions and restarted your installations, do the following:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

  • IPod Nano losing sound/volume

Has anyone had an issue with their iPod nano losing sound/volume? The device works upon initially booting it up however randomly the sound will instantly and for no reason start to decrease down to where no sound can be heard. This usually occurs when working out so I've wondered if there is a reported issue with the device getting overheated or possibly sweat either getting in the device or shorting out the headphones?

If this is the 7th gen iPod nano, and it is new, make sure the headphones plug is completely inserted into the headphones jack of the iPod.  The fit can be tighter than expected, especially when new.  It should "click" into place, when fully seated.
Your iPod can use headphones with remote control buttons on the cord.  If the plug is partially inserted, you may get audio, but the iPod may get false control signals (such as for volume down) over the connection.
If that's not the problem, try using a different set of headphones to see if this problem still occurs.

  • Losing sound on calls

All of a sudden, out of nowhere- my calls are losing sound.  I can see that the call is still connected and I have to hit "end" to end it, but the sound goes out.  I can't hear, and I can't be heard.  It happened a half dozen times this morning.  Sometimes after 30 seconds and sometimes 6 minutes into the call.  Weird.  Anyone else?

Same problem on iPhone 4 after using "native union" pop phone headset. After unplugging the headset the earpiece didn´t work anymore.
Try plugging in and out your headphones several times, that might help.

  • E71 Video Recording Losing Sound

I purchased a Nokia E71 on 3 network not to long ago. When I started to do a few video recordings I noticed that after a while the videos that saved had audio sound missing 30 seconds near the end. I got a brand new replacement from 3 but I still have the same problem. I just keep losing audio sound 30 seconds near the end of each video. 3 told me if the problem continues they will send my phone to Nokia. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

  • Losing sound when I burn DVDs

Until today, I was always able to use iDVD 6 to create a DVD from any supported video format I happened to have on my Mac. Now I suddenly have problems. The project appears to encode and burn correctly, but when I attempt to play the DVD, either in the Mac or on our DVD player connected to the TV, the sound drops out somewhere in the first four minutes and doesn't pick up again.
I've tried re-acquiring my video sources, I've tried two different brands/kinds of DVD disc (Verbatim DVD+RW and Philips DVD+R) and nothing seems to help.
The only other factor is that the superdrive in the Mac has rejected a couple of the DVD+RW discs I've tried, as if they're not readable - it just ***** them in, chunners for about 15 seconds, then spits them out. It doesn't do this to all the discs though.
    Any ideas?

Many thanks for your suggestions Rich ... they didn't solve the problem but it's the thought that counts.
My source files are all recordings of broadcast TV, saved off in the AVI container format - I don't know what's inside the AVI containers because I didn't set up the recordings in the first place. All I can say is, it was never a problem until 2 days ago.
I have now solved the issue, so I'm recording it here in the hope that it will save someone else some heartache in the future.
Taking the logical approach, I went back over all the things that have changed recently about my iMac setup. The only thing I could think of was the Perian prefpane which I added to my System Preferences. Perian (v1.1.1 installed) is a codec pack for Quicktime.
I uninstalled Perian and ran a Spotlight search to ensure everything associated with it was cleared out (it also has its own plist file in the user library folder). Perian has an 'uninstall' button within itself but this only deactivates the prefpane ... to completely eliminate it, I went ctrl+click on its icon in the main System Preferences window and selected the option to remove it.
With Perian completely eliminated from my system, I performed a re-boot, and then went straight to iDVD and re-created, from scratch, one of the projects that failed on me yesterday.
Lo and behold ... it worked.
To be absolutely certain, I'm going to go back and re-create a couple more projects and make disc images of them as well. If this turns out to be a false dawn, I'll post back here again. Otherwise please assume the problem is fixed and:
BE AWARE THAT PERIAN IS LIABLE TO MESS UP iDVD 6.

  • Vista losing sound drivers

This sounds a fairly common problem (a couple of my friends have it as well) in the fact that vista keeps randomly losing our x-fi drivers. There's no warning to it, you just fire something up in WMP or a game etc and find you have no sound, re-installing the drivers usually fixes it, but yesterday when i did my usual thing of uninstalling the drivers and re-installing from the CD, however my CD-dri've now won't pick up the drivers for some unknown reason (CD looks readable, no scratches or dust etc on it, and CD dri've can read other CDs) and whenever i run the drivers from the website i get the following error:
Your version of Windows Operating System is not supported by this product. Please upgrade to Windows XP or later versions before resuming installation.
Got the right driver off the website for sure, using 32 bit vista.
Anyone have any ideas on A) how to get my sound back and B) stop this happening again
Thanks a lot for any replies

Please do not be mad on me but why you post just PSPA4E as notebook model description?
If you check Toshiba download page this info can be useful just on the step 4 to choose the right notebook model.
Anyway, if you cannot find it on Toshiba support page that means your notebook model is not supported for 64-bit OS. Identify the sound card and try to find it on manufacturers support page.

  • My ipad 3 keeps losing sound controls

My ipad 3 keeps losing its sound controls. I have tried all the advice online about going into settings and moving the switch on the side by the volume controls.
When it happens (its been at least once a week) the only thing that sorts it out is doing a reset (holding the home/power button down) and then waiting for a few hours.
When it happens if I double click the home button, swipe right and go to the volume controls there the control is empty (the little movable tab is gone)
What is wrong? Do I need to take it in?

Thanks for the reply. I tried that however it has just happened again for the second time today. :(

  • I keep losing sound on my 5s for incoming texts, videos on facebook, outgoing e-mails.  Got a new phone, it does the same thing.  What do I do?

I keep losing my sound on my 5s iphone.  It will work fine, then I use some apps and I lose my sounds.  The click when I turn it off, the notification when I get a text, the notification when I send an e-mail, but most importantly, the sound on videos that I watch on facebook.  Don't know if it's related to facebook or what?  I went to my carrier and they sent me a refurbished iphone.  I got it yesterday, but today started doing the same thing.  Most of the time, if I turn the phone off and then turn it back on, it works, but I'm so frustrated, I don't know what to do.  Anyone else have this problem?  My carrier didn't know what the problem was.

You transfer the data (including text messages) and settings from your old phone to your new one by backing up your old phone and restoring this backup to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109).  This must have been what your girlfriend did.
If you never backed up your old phone and it doesn't work now, it's too late.

  • Help- losing sound on some DVDs--long post

    Hi,
I have been successfully creating DVDs using iDVD4 for years. Every DVD that has completed its burn, which are most, has played well- with some minor exceptions a few might freeze for a second, but other than that they are fine. The majority of them are family videos. They have been played by my children, over and over and over again. Sometimes left in them machine running for hours on the menu screen when the TV has been turned off, but not the DVD player.
A few months ago I had a new hard drive installed on my G3 700 iMac. I needed to reinstall a lot of software and some of it that had been burned on Yamaha CDs is not more. All my Yamaha CDs that had been burned to back up software, updates, etc. was completely empty. [For the record, I had reinstalled software from these CDs before, so at one time the DATA did exist. All of my other CDs seem to be intact- CDs and CDRW from other suppliers.
Since the DVDs that I make are for the most part being watch a lot, I figured they were fine, although I have wondering if maybe, after seeing what happended to the Yamaha CDs, things are fine. By the way, I called Yamaha and told them what had happened, I wasn't looking for anything, just wanted to tell them, they said that it had been a long time since Yamaha had made branded CDs and also they he had never heard of what I was saying.
Well, today I went to play one of the DVDs that I had burned, and it did not play all of the sound. The sound has 3 parts, the beginning which is the sound that plays on the Apple created menu, it played fine, also the sound at the end played fine, I put a short musical sound bite at the end using SmartSound(I think that is the name of the Company). The video is of my mother baking pies. She has since passed away so this is a partial documentary of her. Her voice does not play on one machine at all (This is the machine that has been used the most and works fine with the other DVDs. On another it is barely discernable that there is audio on. On a portable car player it works fine. On my eMac it plays fine.
Another DVD made around the same time is having the same problem. It is also of my mother and I put a music soundtrack on the entire DVD in addition to my mother talking throughout the video. Now, only the background music plays.
The videos were originally shot on Hi8 and transferred to MiniDV and then edited and burned using iDVD4. Until recently, they played fine.
I have Toast Titanium 6. I burned a copy and got the same results. I see that their are the Audio_TS and Video_TS files. I tried to burn a DVD from the files and I think I ended up with a DATA file DVD. Is it possible that their is something wrong with part of the audio file that might be fixed by burning a Video DVD from the Audio and Video files. I have never done this. I don't even know if it can be done.
I am thinking that I better back up my other DVDs before the same thing happens. I now use Verbatim exclusively. Some of my older DVDs were Apple brand, and and some other brands.
Anyway, thank you for reading this, and I would sure appreciate any help. Thankfully I do have DVDs of the unedited footage that could always be reedited and burned. I am also thinking that I need to copy my MiniDV tapes to new tapes.
    Thank you again.

I am not sure why this is happening other than aging/playing the DVD disks. I do have one question and then some lengthy comments/suggestions. You stated that you used Toast and 'burned a copy.' You burned another DVD? From what?
You have several options it seems. If you have the original miniDV tapes, they should be fine. You should not have to make copies of them. They are already digital and will not degrade easily. You should be storing them in a cool place. Rewinding each one every year is recommended, but I have to say I have many miniDV tapes some from 10 years ago and many I made from old VHS and Hi8 tapes beginning 6 years ago, and I have not rewound any of them since importing or exporting them. If yours are still good, you can reimport and recreate your iMovie that is missing its sound. Takes work, though.
A recommendation for future projects: I always export my finished edited iMovies back to miniDV tape to preserve my edited movies in a format other than DVD. (One of the reasons I have continued to use iMovie HD6, not 8/9).
    My recommendations:
I know that DVD disks can become damaged: scratched, warped, cracked, broken, melted or even have 'stuff' spilled on them! I did not want to risk losing my movies to a ruined DVD disk. So, I make disk image files for each of my iDVD projects. I cannot remember, but I THINK iDVD 4 was the first version where this was an option, so I would definitely recommend that you do this for future projects.
You just finish your iDVD project, and instead of burning to a DVD disk, you select 'Save as disk image' from the File menu. The process looks just like the burn process, and the encoding takes just as long, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned disk. You can then use this disk image file to burn the actual DVD disks, using Disk Utility.
There are several advantages to having a disk image file of your projects. First, you can get more consistent burning. Second, a disk image file is self-contained, so all the information for any media used in the project is encoded into the file itself. This is not the case with the iDVD project, which should be thought of as a container that does not have the media files in it, but just references them and then pulls them together for the burning process. An iDVD project does not move the files into it the way iMovie does.
So, another advantage of the disk image file is that you can safely delete the original iDVD project and also the original iMovie project without worrying about losing the ability to reburn the DVD in the future.
Also, a disk image file is not over 4.6 GB (for single0layer DVDs), so you can save drive space by deleting the larger iDVD and iMovie files.
You can also move the disk image files to another drive. The data remains intact in the file. If you try to move an iDVD project, you will be moving the container only, and iDVD will have to relocate the media files. If you delete, rename, change or move anything used in the iDVD project, iDVD will not be able to find it.
You can drag a disk image file from one computer or drive to another.
And, importantly for you, you can always burn another DVD disk from its disk image file, even years after the original iDVD project was made.
I keep disk images of all my projects on an external drive. Now that I have 123 of them, they do take up quite a bit of space, but it is worth it to be able to reburn any of them easily.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation, but now to how to retrieve your current DVDs. If your have a DVD that you can get to play on one of your computers, you can use Disk Utility to create a disk image file from that DVD. You can use Disk Utility to create disk image files of any DVD that you have created using iDVD. Then, you can burn more copies of the DVD from the disk image.
    See these for instructions:
To create a disk image from iDVD:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6733.html
To copy a previously burned DVD:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2059?viewlocale=en_US
To burn a disk image using Disk Utility:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2087?viewlocale=en_US
You should be using a good brand of DVD disk, such as Verbatim, Maxell, or Taio Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not recommended because their layers are thinner. You should also burn at a slow speed, 4x or less. I always use Verbatim DVD-R, burn at 4x most of the time, sometimes 2x if the movie is long or complicated. I have never had a burn issue.
Make more than one copy of each of your projects! I always make several of each of mine: one for each kid, one for my husband and me, an 'extra' one to have here at home, and I put one copy in a safe deposit box. Yes, very paranoid about losing my movies!
And NEVER put a stick-on label on your DVD disks. If you write on them, use the special CD/DVD markers and write only the briefest notation. If you want fancy labels, use the pre-labeled DVD disks that you can print to with a printer capable of printing to disks.
Hope this is helpful. Post back if anything is not clear, or does not help.

  • Losing sounds on iphone 4s

It has recently started probably since updating the software I keep losing the sounds (clicks keyboard etc) I have to turn off and restart to get them back; has anyone else had this problem and is there an answer to solve this.

Since the volume buttons work, then maybe a Restore of the iPhone with iTunes on computer would be the next best step. A Restore with iTunes on computer is more thorough than the Update.

  • Losing Sound Device Settings

Every couple of weeks or so, when turning on my PowerBook, or restarting, my sound device settings are lost, and I have to restart using the reset pram rule.
I'm current on all of my updates, running 10.5.5, and my PBK is a 2005, pre-intel. Anyone have an idea why i'm losing my sound device settngs? Internal boot battery getting low perhaps?
Also, I have an odd sound issue. Every once in awhile, I'll hear a what sounds like a static pop through my external speakers. Haven't heard it as far as I can remember through the internal speakers, only when the externals are plugged in. My external speakers are Altec Lansings with a sub.
I just heard the "pop" as I'm writing this, and haven't rebooted yet, so don't have my device settings activated yet. I guess my next stop is the Altec forums!
    Thanks for any help.

My MBP always has a pop before a sound, if it has been idle for a while. This has been reported before. It seems that when the digital sound system "wakes up" it makes a pop sound. That is normal but not really acceptable.
However, the pop you hear could be something else, and could be, in fact, the sound turning off.
Run the Audio/Midi setup app and look at what the input and output options are when the sound is lost.
You can also run the Sound Preference and see similar things.
Does your notebook have a second battery for storing PRAM/NV-RAM data? I know some older units did. If so, it may be dying and you are losing your settings.
