Recordings skip parts

I have just recorded sound from line in and in the resulting recording, every few seconds the sound skips a fraction of a second.
I have also noticed that the timer was going back and forth every once in a while when recording.
The "Sound Recorder" from Windows Vista is working fine on my computer.
What can I do?
(I have reposted this after both posts I made yesterday were deleted for no obvious reason. If it violated any guidelines, please inform me, thanks.)

Hi dlink,
I replied to a post earlier today you may want to read, but I strongly suggest disabling the Aero interface in Windows Vista while recording, if you have it enabled. It is an alarming CPU thief, and directly interferes with Soundbooth, and most other audio applications.
I'd also recommend find out if the manufacturer of your audio device offers ASIO drivers for it. If so, install those and setup Soundbooth to use that driver instead. Since it's a more direct route to the hardware, it's less susceptible to interference from Windows. The default driver is a DirectX front-end for devices that do not have their own ASIO driver, and therefore has to deal with the Windows overhead and priority scheduling that leads to problems.
Thanks,
Durin

  • QuickTime 10.0 Screen Recording randomly skips parts of the recording?

I'm using the QuickTime Player to record some gameplay on my computer and sometimes, randomly, it skips part of the video. Sometimes its just a minute or 2 and sometimes its 15 minutes. I don't know why or how this could possibly happens, but it does. I have 366GB of space on my computer left so space is not an issue. I don't know what is. Please help

Bump. I'm having this trouble too, on both my iMac and my Macbook. I've tried every combination of events I can think of that might make this happen (switching windows, switching Spaces, etc. etc.), but the problem is so random and intermittent. Sometimes it records fine and I end up with a full recording, sometimes the middle is gone, sometimes just the end. The file size doesn't seem to matter; I have some good recordings that are nearly 500MB, and some that failed when they are only 30MB (and I have well over 300GB free). It's really annoying to not know until you've done 30 minutes of work that the middle is missing from the recording, and have no idea whatsoever even how to work around the issue.

  • TS1424 downloaded a movie that keeps on skipping parts

  • ITunes Skips Part of a song

    Hello,
When I play the song "William Tell Overture:Rossini", iTunes gets to about 2:52 then skips to the next song without playing the rest of this song. I can manually click in the area after 2:52 and play it but it just wont play by itself and it skips right there. By the way, this also happens on my mac so I assume its something wrong with iTunes or the song. Any help would be appreciated.
    Alex

I have been having the same problem with several songs. I have tried all of the 5Rs that Apple tells us to try, and the only thing that has worked is deleting the song from my ipod and moving it back. You see, the copy of the song in my library is fine; something happens when it gets moved to the ipod.

  • Skipping parts of the boot process

When I boot up arch on my laptop, it always tries to establish a Network connection, even when there is no chance of success, because I'm not plugged into a LAN. When this is the case, it often takes about 15-20 seconds  before it fails, and so far I haven't found any key combinations that let me skip out on it. Does anyone know a way to skip out on that when there's no network available?
    Thanks

Just background the network Daemon in your /etc/rc.conf like this:
    DAEMONS=(... @network ...)
I stronly recommend reading the http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide . You'll find everything you need there!

  • IPhone 4S (IOS 7.0.2) is changing (or skipping parts) songs automatically when I unlock the device.

My iPhone 4S (IOS 7.0.2) is changing (or skiping parts) songs automatically when I unlock the device, since the update to 7.0.2.
The song is playing on background, so when I need to access something, I go and type my password, and the song goes backwards, or it completely changes songs / artists. Sometimes it just stops for less than a second, and starts playing again, normally.
    What's happening?

I experienced such behavior few times (also on 4S). It's especially annoying when you listen audiobooks. I think it's a bug, and at this moment there's no remedy for it - at least I haven't found it.

  • ITunes match recently started skipping parts of songs on iPhone and Ipad

Just recently my Itunes match started skipping after 10 secs of most of the new music I would upload to itunes.  A few albums work fine, but many skip after 10 secs and often repeat the 3rd song.   Anyone have any ideas?  The songs play fine on the computer itunes.
    thx

Yeah did that I read through at least 6 different forums nothing worked, even changing info in the meta data of the songs.
What I posted does help, if everyone stops using the service then Apple will fix it. There are post where people say apple support says they have never heard of this problem yet this post is from 5 months ago and it still an issue.
My guess is you've never heard of Apples auto correction. If you want to look smart post links to things that actually fix the problem. Being a smart a$$ is the least helpful way in any situation.

  • Nano Skipping Parts of Songs

My iPod Nano first generation is about a year old now and I am starting to have this problem with it. I'll start playing a song on it and about 1 minute into the song it will skip and go to the next song. It doesn't do this with every song though, anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

This is a consistent and annoying problem that seems to span all generations of iPods. There is no easy fix for the majority of the 'songs skipping' occurances. 5R's cubed will not solve it. Latest software version - v1.2.1 - may be the problem, but I have no idea how to go back and re-load an earlier software version. Help on that would be appreciated.

  • Skipping parts of songs

My IPod plays part of a song and then goes to the next song. I have tried soft reset this did not help. Any one else have this problem?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete the songs and resync (provide they play in iTunes on the computer)/redownload
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I have started having getting incomplete Cd recordings, missing parts of songs.

About a month ago I started having problems with spaces in songs that were blank for the remaining time of that song and then the next song would start on the cd. This might happen 4 or 5 times during the rest of the cd. I never had this problem before. My computer will make data cd's just fine only problem is with audio cd's.
I can still import cd's to iTunes with no problem.

After much searching and a LONG visit to the Genius Bar, here's what I got:
The problem:  Despite normal playback in iTunes, the files for these songs have become corrupted, causing the sound to stop when converted to CD audio files and burned to disk.  All other aspects of the file remain intact; thus, each song's "space on the disk" is still intact...it's just silent.  This probably happened when the PC I copied the files from had a HD failure.
The solution:  Delete and download again, or re-copy from the original CD--whatever you need to do to make a new file for the song on your HD.

  • Skipping parts of song

I have recenlty downloaded a few songs and at least three of them maybe more are corrupted. After a certain amount of time (some after 7 seconds some after a minute and a half or so) the song stops and goes on to the next. iTunes shows that it playe the song as well. However if you fast forward past the point in which the song stops; it will play the rest of the song fine. This has gotten very annoying and Apple has been almost worthless with its upport emails. Thank you.

    Hey
thx for answer, i think ur right , i tried to format the ipod by using my windows and ipod is found on "my computer" window, can even click to format, it then start to format the disk taking like 40min but at the end something goes wrong cos windows says he can't terminate format; result is that all data on ipod has been erased , only the original settings and software is on disk. I then put some music on ipod but problem still occurs (stuttering of HD). What wuld u advise? can this be fixed with format that is allowed to terminate completely and how do i do this? or is my disk physically damaged? are there other repair programs or diagnostic tools which will allow me to determine whether this problem can be solved or if my ipod is just completely (physically) screwed? I hate it cos my warranty just expired 2 weeks ago and i didn't drop it, bang it or otherwise harm is physically.... these things don't screw up themselves just like that? it can't be...
anyway what else can i try, don't have mac computer so can't really try to format on that... i tried disk doctor but that program won't start to run on that disk..
is there anything else i can use like in ms-dos? few months ago i had a problem with my external HD which many believed to be a hardware problem but after a good format it now runs smoothly again... was only able to format using ms-dos , windows wouldn't recognise the drive.. guess it's my last hope
    plz help if u can
    thx

  • How to "skip" part of a signal

    Hey everyone,
I'm still very new to LabVEIW
I'm writing a code to control a pair of mirrors which will scan across a designated area, one on x-axis and on the y-axis. The movement is defined by two triangle waves (for simplicity at the time being, I may change it later) and will move at different frequencies so that the result is a zig-zag pattern across the area as the two mirros combine.
The problem I'm having is that I don't really want the mirrors to scan back across the area when they're done. As things stand, the scan crosses the area and comes back, but I want it to scan in one direction and as the y-axis mirror returns to the starting position, the x-axis mirror stops and waits for it, so it's not scanning back across the same area. I've created the code I'm using with some sub vi's but I'm pretty stuck as to how I can stop this from happening and the help function hasn't made anything any clearer for me
The two phsyical channels in the vi I'm posting go to the outputs of a DAQPad 6015, which are in turn linked to an oscilloscope so I can see the physical results of what I'm doing. I won't be linking any of this to a real system till I have it worked out
    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
I think this is what you're shooting for, however the graph reaches -1 amplitude at 0.475 seconds.

  • ITunes Skipping Songs/Part Songs

    Hi,
I purchased an Apple iPod 3-4 years ago and loaded music into iTunes and purchased songs from the iTunes store.
Late 2007 I started experiencing problems with songs starting then skipping partly through and moving on to the next song. This occured both for uploaded music and songs purchased from the store.
I put this down to a fault with my iPod and so purchased a new iPod Touch at the start of 2008. I sync'd with my existing iPod account and have the same library but the problem persisted. It also appears to be progressive in that a song that played okay last week won't play okay this week. Once it starts skipping it is "fixed" i.e. the song will always skip from that same point in all future playbacks.
I have done a reset on my iTouch but the problem persists - which suggests to me it is iTunes-based, in that it has happened on two separate machines tied to the iTunes account.
Interestingly there is no skipping problem when I play affected songs through iTunes on my Dell PC.
Any suggestions as to what is happening? And importantly on how I rectify it? It is extremely frustrating.
    Thanks
    Peter

I just want to add to this concern that my iTunes also skips and it would be nice to get a little bit of help on this.
iTunes it skipped songs i.e. a song will play halfway through and then skips to the next song.
    1) This problem is usually limited to all songs in a particular albums. One of them, for example, is in MPEG-1, Layer 3 format. Media Kind set to Music and other options unchecked.
    2) A similar yet different problem I have is that some albums play fine under iTunes but the skipping problem occurs under iPod. For example, I have a language course album, so I've tried under Media Kind = Music or Audiobook, but the problems remains

  • Rewind and Fast Forward skipping

Evening all, I recently received a new black Sky + Box and have had so much trouble with the pause and rewind facility. Does anyone know why the recordings skip all the time when I press forward or rewind? With the old white sky box, the programmes would play smoothly but at a faster speed but this new box appears to skip at certain sections causing the programmes to freeze at some points. I have now had two different boxes and I have had enough. Regards

  • TWO ipods that are skipping songs

I am yet to read a definitive answer to this problem:
    you all know it:
my fiancees fifth gen ipod is skipping parts or entire songs... She did not have this problem on the third gen ipod.
she ALSO has an ipod shuffle... the songs are now doing the same thing on the shuffle...
I am not sure how the files could have become corrupted spontaneously..
we are running the latest versions of itunes and the latest software on the ipod.
will try restoring both ipods do anything?
how about reinstalling itunes? maybe something happened when it tried the catalog the music??
    what are your thoughts?

Well there is no garentee but I would try to restore both iPods with the 2005-10-12 updater...
That seems to work about 75% of the time...
    if not then:
Format the iPod using your computer then restore
If that does not work then maybe they need serviced
