Recordset CS3 compared to DW8

Just wondering if anyone else was having problems with this
new code created by Dreamweaver. When I edit existing code and it
gets rewritten to the new commandtext code then the recordset
doesn't work like it used to in DW8. Has anyone found a way around
this change? Thanks!

Never upgraded to 8.0.2, huh?

  • Slow CS3 compared with CS2

I'm seeing an overall sluggish performance in inDesign CS3 compared with CS2. I use G5 processors and I have plenty of Ram (8 Gigs on a x2 G5 and (2 Gigs on an iMac) I . Even CS2 running on a G4 PowerBook seems faster. The preview of the images set on Typical makes me think that I have the setting on High Quality, whilst I don't. Images take ages to show up. Seeing the same document open on an Intel machine seems much faster even if has only 2 Gigs of Ram. Is there a problem with G5 Macs and InDesign CS3? Photoshop CS3 works just fine.

Is it like this with any document? There have not been much complaining of CS3 being slow so it is certainly not a general problem. I have only toyed with the tryout, I am stuck in CS1(!) until fall, but didnt notice any slowdowns in screen redraws on a few magazines I converted.
You said in a previous post it is like having high res display on, does that mean that they also display in high res or was it just to compare the sluggishness? Placing overly large images and downsizing in Indesign could cause that I think. See what ppi the image are reported to be, actual and effective.
Are those images on a server or on your local disk? If on a server see if it behaves any better when trying with images placed from you local drive.
Also try an export to .inx and reopen that with hope of getting rid of any corruption.

  • Install CS3 along with DW8?

Can I install CS3 Design Premium without uninstalling DW 8?
I've tried searching for this info but haven't been able to find it
so far. I'm running on Windows XP Pro if that makes a difference.
I want to start using the other pieces of CS3 but want to
continue using DW8 until I finish my current project.
    Thanks.

    Sure, you can.

  • Error with recordsets after upgrade to DW8.02

I upgraded DW8 with the patch for 8.02
Now when I open a page that has a recordset I get the
    following error:
    dreamweaver javascript error invalid quantifier
Then the page opens but I can't see any recordset on the
    right hand side and
    can't do much.
How can I fix this error ?
    Alejandro

I was getting errors with making recordsets too, especially
when creating a variable in advanced mode. The new interface
includes a dropdown for a variable type and does not let you choose
to NOT specify a data type. Even if you do, Dreamweaver puts the
data in the wrong place and the variable doesn't work. I downgraded
back to 8.0 and have been fine since.
I submitted a bug report to Macro-dobe, but no word
    yet...

  • DW8 closes when I add a recordset

I've been working all day and now when I add a recordset to
the page, DW8 shuts down completely.
It's particularly annoying since I have to re-enter the login
information every time. I've tried rebooting and it works
    sometimes, but not usually.
I have not installed the 8.02 updater, since it has more
problems than it's worth. Is there a workaround for this? Do I
really have to hand code adding a recordset?
I hope the alternative is not paying $$$$ for the new CS3,
which sounds like it has problems of its own. I just hate paying to
    be a bta tester.

    Hi Laura,
Please pull the panel out of the dock. If you click on the tab where the name is located and drag, you should be able to undock the panel. Here is a bit more about docking and undocking panels in the workspace: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-750ca.h tml#WS8599BC5C-3E44-406c-9288-C3B3BBEB5E88.

  • My first look at Dreamweaver CS3

Hi all, just got CS3 Web Standard install on my PC. The
installation was good with no problems, so far. Only open
Dreamweaver and Fireworks. I do not see any slow down from running
    Dreamweaver CS3, and Fireworks CS3.
    Good
I work with classics ASP daily for work, I noticed the code
view is high lighting correctly now, compare to DW8. The Design
display looks bad, but that is expected since my asp file is a
master file. This is a big plus for me.
    Wondering Why
The Check CSS function did find two parsing errors, and a lot
of min-height in the style sheet. I right click on the error and
selected more info. DW did point out the problem but the more info
option only took me to the Home page of CSS Advisor, and not to any
articles related to min-height. I knew CSS Advisor existed already
before and have it in my Bookmarks. I was thinking it would take me
directly to a solution with out searching for it. Not a big deal,
    just a point
Over all Dreamweaver CS3 looks similar to 8, I am very very
very please with the code highlighting for asp. I hand code
everything for work including SQL and database connection. It would
be nice to see a SQL code page under other for highlighting the
    code.

  • Studio 8 vs. CS3

Have the security issues with the code Dreamweaver writes
been fixed in CS3 compared to Studio 8? Studio 8 creates code that
is easily subject to security hacks, like SQL injections. There are
code corrections to fix this... are they part of the code in CS3?
The last thing I need is to purge a SQL DB table from 1000 entires
    about valtrex every other day.
With that said, any helpful suggestions for those dynamic
site developers to prevent such attacks/hacks?

The 8.0.2 updater fixed the SQL injection vulnerabilities.
    The code
created by CS3 incorporates the same security measures.
There was a lot of controversy among ASP users that 8.0.2
    "broke
previously valid SQL". Since I haven't used ASP for about six
    years, I
didn't follow the arguments closely, but the main conclusion
    among
"experts" appeared to be that the broken SQL was using an
    inappropriate
    technique.
As for PHP, the 8.0.2 updater fixed the security loopholes,
    but
inadvertently introduced a couple of new bugs. They can be
    fixed by
applying the extension fix downloadable from the link in the
    first
    sentence on the following page:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/b6c2ae2a
Those bugs were, of course, eliminated in CS3.
Also with PHP, there was some controversy about the changes
    "breaking"
SQL that uses wildcard searches of numerical data. In fact,
    the changes
don't break wildcard searches, but they apply the rules of
    SQL more
strictly. When using LIKE, the data type must be set to
    "Text" as
wildcard searches apply to strings, not to numbers. Of
    course, you can
use wildcards to search for numbers, but they must be treated
    as a string.
Tom Muck has some strong views about the way the changes
    hamper the use
of dynamic data, but I've not encountered any problems
    myself.

  • Is Contribue CS3 compatible with Dreamweaver 8?

    Hi everyone
I own Dreamweaver 8. I have a client would like to edit their
    web site using Contribute CS3.
Will CS3 support the DW8 editable attribute tags?
    E.g.
    <div attribute="@@(label)@@">This is the editable
    content</div>
    Thank you very much
    David

PS CS3 is not supported on Win 8. So, its best to upgrade to PS CS6 and use it flawlessly with Win 8.

Basically I want to see what improvements adobe have made to

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Does this help?

  • Cs3 Help

I have a file which in flash player 6 works, however once
brought into cs3, keeping the export at action script 2 and making
flash player 8 the default, it no longer works right.
what it is is like two programs and a wraper. The files work
fine on there own, only when using the wrapper and selecting the
progrom to run does the video not work.
this is the code im using to load the video (keep in mind im
using action script 1 or 2, and not ready to re-tool to make AS 3)
    loadMovie("data/ch02/ch02_vid.swf", screen);
    stop();
any help would be very welocomed. thanks

    Carolanne,
Good news, you can install CS3 without effecting DW8. Both
versions can be on the same machine.

  • DW FTP is slow and causes CPU Spike

Does anyone know why DW causes the CPU to jump up when it is
performing FTP operations? I'm new to DW and maybe this is normal,
but it shouldn't be. When I perfrom FTP activities, DW usually
takes up about 60-70% of the CPU???
Also, why is the FTP client so slow?
Dreamweaver takes so much longer than other FTP clients. I
compared it's usage to SmartFTP, FileZilla, and Windows built in
FTP, and Dreamweaver is so slow on a magnitude of 20x - 30x. For a
quick test I tried to pull down a directory using dreamweaver. I
have all the files local already, so I told DW not to overwrite the
files...so you would think it should speed through all the files
and realize that they are all dups and not download anything, for a
directory with 15 files in it, i would think this FTP operation
should take about 2 seconds. but it takes dreamweaver about 4
minutes to complete this, all my other FTP clients can figure this
out in under 5 seconds, and they don't need to spike the CPU to do
    it.
A quick search on the web tells me that I am not the only
    person with these problems.
I really hope Adobe plans on fixing the FTP problems.
    Technical details:
    Dreamweaver CS3.
    Windows Vista SP1, 4GB ram, Fujitsu T4220

I've had a related, ongoing problem with CS3 running up the
    CPU and acting
slow for just about every operation for no apparent reason.
    It goes in
surges, and just acts like molasses half the time, very
    annoying. It is to
the point that I really don't use CS3, I use DW8, but try to
    use CS3 here
and again to see if it has started working or if there is
    some patch
released. This is on my XP workstation at work, and my Vista
    workstation at
home. Both systems run CS3 slow enough that I just don't use
    CS3. This has
been going on for over a year, since I got my copy of CS3.
Too bad really, because I am tasked with approving CS3 for
    use by the rest
of our WEB team and I haven't been able to do that, so we
    continue to use
DW8. We are missing out on Spry integration and are slowly
    switching over
to Eclipse and Aptana instead. I think that if the CPU bug
    isn't fixed, CS3
will be the version that has us switch away entirely. The
    only hope seems to
be if they release the next version of DW before we can
    completely switch
away. We are a smallish state agency and only have 8 DW
    licenses, but
that's seven licenses they missed out on the upgrade path
    with unless this
is fixed (mine is the only upgraded so far). It just isn't
    useable in its
    present state. :-\

  • Hebrew versions of photoshop-upgrading from xp to win 7

my GF's daughter is studying photography in high school and they all bought cs3. the UI is in hebrew. shes using xp. the computer is very slow. im upgrading my pc and want to pass my hardware to her and add an ssd and pgrade XP to win 7 pro.
    so some questions please
1-cs5 is the first version that is supported on win 7?
2-shes afraid for me to install a newer version because shes nervous it will look different and she wouldnt be able to do homework because the UI/menus/features will be different.
3-from what version does the software take advantage of strong (ish) gpus? im passing my evga gtx 280 to her.
4-is the hebrew version (not text support tool, but the whole UI) a built in feature, or do you specifically have to buy a hebrew version? Im curious if its like win 7 ultimate where all the different language UI are built in and you can change it on the fly
5-what is the ME version? I ask because mine is a regular CS4 version and I dont have an issue to add text to a photo in hebrew.
6-what is the hebrew UI version called?
    7-how different is cs3 compared to cs6 or cs5? visually/UI or menus?
im trying to see if its even worth upgrading components/version for her. thank you for your time.

The ME versions existed up to CS5, that is correct, but as of CS6 this differentiation was obliterated, though, of course there may be specific issues of which I have no first hand knowledge being a German. In any case, from CS6 all the functions that previously required an ME version are integrated and if installed correctly, the app should appear in those languages as well. Beyond that I can remember a few threads about being not able to type certain characters, but this may merely depend on font avialability and glyph substitution settings. With regards to the UI - the icons' meanings haven't changed, but there are lots of new tools plus the UI has been overhauled and finetuned in pretty much every version in recent years. Whether or not that is confusing is probably down to the individual user. it may be overwhelming at the beginning, but one will get the hang of it eventually.

  • Where can I buy Contribute 3?

    Hi,
I'm using Dreamweaver 8, and want to buy a compatible copy of Contribute - which I think is Contribute 3. (I assume that later Contribute versions are not compatible). I'd be grateful for information about suppliers that stock Contribute 3.
    Thanks

Are earlier CS versions of Contribute, eg. CS3, compatible with DW8, too?
Yes. But what do you really mean by 'compatible'?
Unlike proprietary software and operating systems, file formats used by Dreamweaver and Contribute are plain HTML files. You can use any version of DW or Contribute or text editor to read those files. The layout of the page on screen may vary for older versions of DW and Contribute which may not correctly understand some modern CSS layouts but that's about all.
Later versions of Contribute better understand and correctly display on screen modern CSS coding and layout techniques and offer some extra features, but nothing related to better or worse compatibility.
