Recover a portion of lost datebook

Can anyone help?  I just realized that I am missing all my datebook data prior to Oct. 11th (today is the 23rd).  I've likely synced several times without realizing my data is missing.  I'm using Windows XP Pro and a Tungsten E.  My data goes back to 1998 so I'd love to get it back.  I think it happened because the battery ran out on my handheld and I synched it up, but I'm set up for my handheld to overwrite my desktop.
1. Can I find my old data anywhere?
2. If my battery ever runs down again should I put my settings so my desktop overwrites my handheld for the first sync?
3. How can I back up the data I have left on a memory stick?
4. Please keep in mind I am technically challenged - that's putting it mildly.
Thanks!

Have you done any archive exports? Here is a link to the archive procedure. If you have not done this procedure then the data is probably gone.
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding archiving.

1. Can I find my old data anywhere?
You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak.
The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

2. If my battery ever runs down again should I put my settings so my desktop overwrites my handheld for the first sync? Yes.
3. How can I back up the data I have left on a memory stick?
The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.

4. Please keep in mind I am technically challenged - that's putting it mildly.
No problem. Every year technology becomes more challenging.

  • Hi recovered my old laptop lost i tunes still have music on pod updated i tunes but it fetched another playlist how do i sync the 2 without losing music on pod

Hi recovered myy old laptop lost my old play list i tunes on new laptop found old purchased songs , but want to retain songs on pod can i get these back into i tunes on new laptop.
    Any help much apreciated

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • Centro no longer syncing AFTER desktop access lost datebook

Forgive me if my terminology is not 100% accurate. I've used a palm since 2002 and NEVER have issues. I opened my desktop today to find all my datebook lost. Everything else was intact.  I retrieved it from my last backup (not as recent as it should have been, but not devestatingly so!).  Now I am trying to Sync and I am getting hung up on "5 of 19 backups," which is apparently the datebook syncing according to the hotsync manager. I then I have to ctr+alt+del to close down both the manager and Access. I've tried having it syncronize both, have the handheld overwrite the desktop and have removed most other programs syncing so just the datebook is being synced.
I am not super computer savvy, but enough so to manage what I've done so far! It seems like an Access issue, as all was working fine and is working fine on my phone.  I have no idea why suddenly all the info was gone. I installed 6.2.2 a few months back. Prior to that I've had no issues and had my centro about a year and half at that point.
    I appreciate any help!

OK, now I've removed everything but datebook from the synchronization process and it's still hung up on "5 of 19" during the sync - it crashes and so does Access.  I'm setting it to Synchronize the files because, ultimately, that's what I need it to do.  I have three young kids at home (plus sometimes friends), so sitting on the phone with tech support is not easy. But if that seems like the best options, I'll do that the next time I have some kid free time. But if anyone has any ideas, please share!

  • How to recover song that are "lost", itunes can't find them even though I have downloaded and played them before

Does anyone know how to recover songs that itunes has "lost"?
I downloaded them, synced my ipod, songs were added and I was able to play them.
On a recent sync the songs are suddenly "not found" according to itunes.  I can't locate them in the itunes folder, so I have no idea where itune put them.  BTW-this is not the first time itunes stored songs in a random directory......  Since itune can't find them, they were deleted from my ipod

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful.

  • Trying to recover metadata from a lost DB

    Hi:
We lost a DB instance and cannot recover. Ops replaced the broken disks and restored datafiles from backup, but "recover datafile..." for a specific datafile fails with OAR-01113 (file 89 needs media recovery). It calls for a file called arch1_120544.dbf which it (and I) cannot find.
    Anyway....
What I'd really like to do at this point is to salvage the metadata. Is there a way to do this without starting the instance? Can I drop the problem datafile (and if necessary, the associated tablespace) somehow and then start the instance without it/them?
    Thanks!

  • Is there a way to recover a portion of a video? I accidentally clipped the wrong portion.

While editing a movie I took on my iPhone, I clipped and saved the wrong portion of the movie I wanted to save.  Is there a way to recover that clipped portion?  Thx.

Never work on any type of file that does not have a backup in case you mess up.

  • Is there ay way to recover photos that were lost due to update

    Hello,
I wanted to update my mother's iPhone and I forgot to back up the photos, contacts, messages, etc. Does this mean that everything is lost forever??? There is no way I can recover anything? Does't the computer have a file or folder or something that may have the deleted information?????
Please tell me that there's a way...... please!!!
    Thanks

iCloud only. If you have it turned on, your photos and contacts should be there.

  • Recovering Photo's from lost Iphone with same apple ID?

I lost my Iphone a while ago,
then 6 months later my laptop crashed and could not be recovered (where my storage was of photo's etc)
anyway, I purchused a new iphone and i have the same apple id and itunes id.
I was wondering if I would be able to get back any of the photo's that were on my iphone that was stolen? like if icloud would of backed them up online or itunes or something like that?
    thanks

Photo Stream only holds 30 days of photos on the server. See as you lost your iPhone over 6 months ago Photo Stream won't help. If you have a backup of the phone before it was lost you can restore that backup to a new iOS device and retrieve whatever was in the Camera Roll at the time the backup was made.
I assume you have no backup of your computer.
Just because the laptop doesn't boot doesn't mean information can't be retrieved from the hard drive.

  • Node Majority DAG, How to recover when quorum is lost

    Hi
I have EXchange 2013 SP1 DAG, Node Majority where 2 MBX servers in the primary site and 1 MBX server in the DR Site. If there is a simultaneous loss of the 2 MBX servers in the primary site as in a power failure, then quorum will be lost.
How can I recover operations using the MBX Server in DR?????
    jk

    Hi ,
    Agree with Pavan.
Datacenter switchover is the only option. If there is simultaneous failure happened on all the nodes in the primary site or else an primary datacenter failure then there wouldn't be an enough time for the cluster to recalculate and adjust the quorum. So the only
way is to do an datacenter switchover.

I lost some of my contacts too, strange. However, the next day I realized I change my password on one of my email accounts on my computer. • How do i get my ipad to stop saying no service now that i have recovered it from being lost?

I recovered my lost ipad. But in the mean time I used the "find my phone" app to lock it. Now I can't get the messsage at the top of the ipad from saying "no service". I am unable to use my wi-fi even though it looks like it is connected. I tried to do a hard shut down but I still shows "no service", what do i do?

Sounds like you have an iPad that you were using with Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T with. Visit your provider for support.

  • How can i recover my data from lost iPod?

I have lost my iPod Touch somewhere or it has been stolen, I guess Find My iPod was not configured on my device. Is there any solution to get my all iTune & personal data from stolen/lost iPod?

Someone may be able to get data off the iPod.
If you want the data the best method is to restore another iPod touch, iPhone or iPad from the backup of your stolen iPod. The iOS version on the stolen iPod has to equal to or less than the version on the other devices.
You can also get some data from the iPod backup that iTunes makes

  • Palm z22 restoring portion of lost calendar items

Hello, I'm new here.  I have  palm z22 (v 4.5.2P) & I back up fairly regularly on my PC.  Learning from previous disasters, now when I back up, on my PC I "rename" my datebook (calendar) file from datebook.bak to datebook 02-03-10.bak (or whatever the current date is).  This allows me to save many backups so that if I get corrupt files on my handheld & do a sync, it won't overwrite my good backup file with a corrupt one.  The question I have is that the calendar (datebook) on my handheld is good for the last year or so, as well as in the future, but I recently discovered that everything has disappeared that was over a year (or so) old (except the recurring events).  I found my old datebook backup file from then, but I don't know how to restore to the calendar (datebook) on my handheld only the old items, without deleting the current and future items on my handheld.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Bob

First we need to create a new username in Palm Desktop. I would suggest calling it test. Then close Palm Desktop, and find the username in the C drive(Should be near your username). Then delete all the files in the datebook folder. Then delete all the files in the datebook folder. Copy the datebook.bak file you need to the test username datebook folder. Rename the datebook.bak file to datebook.dat.
Open Palm Desktop to see if your older data is in the Calendar. If it is then export it out by using file and export. Then move to your other username and then using import import the calendar you just exported in and you should be all set. Sync the data with desktop overwrites handheld and you should be done.
Post back if you have any more questions.

  • I recently restored my ipod classic and the music that was in my itunes account has disappeared or it keeps saying file not found,is there a way forme to recover the music I lost?

How can I fix this problem of finding the music that was lost since I restored my ipod classic. I still have some albums but some music is missing,

    Hello lg3hree
Check out the first article to look on your computer for the music files themselves. If you had purchased anything from iTunes, you can just download the tracks from the iTunes store.
