Recover a unsaved file in Pages '09 v4.2

Hi All,
I hope someone can help me to recover a couple of unsaved files. I was working on Pages '09 with several Pages opened and in an accidental click I closed two of these with out save. Do you know how to recover files from a Temp Folder or any Similar?

Since you're using Lion & Pages 4.2 autosave will have saved the files if you have saved them at least once. There is a folder of "unsaved documents" in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences but I have no idea how it works. The one time I tried opening one of the files I got an error, but you might have a different result. In Lion you need to go to Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your users Library will appear about halfway down the list.

Recovering un-saved files from Pages 09.

I have been doing a project on Pages 09 on my MacBook Pro and suddenly Pages 09 closed on me without warning and then another window opened asking me if i would like to re-open. So i re-opened Pages 09 and all my work had gone as i didn't save my work. So i to restart my computer to see if there were any recovered files in my trash can and there were, there was a file named "tempdata" inside my recovered files folder but for some reason i am not able to open it as a new window then opens up saying, Unable to unarchive "tempdata into "com.apple.iWorkpages_222_3158381251" (error1 - operation not permitted. So could someone please help as to how to open that recovered file or if there is another way to recover my work?

Of course you will loose some work but not all if you do save. It is a matter of how much you will loose.
Maybe Pages crashed because the OP didn't save. We don't know do we. Or the RAM or is it DRAM nowadays couldn't hold more information and gave up.

Recovering an unsaved file in Numbers

I was trying to export a Numbers spreadsheet to iwork.com and I tried to save it but Numbers suddenly crashed and I don't know how to recover it. TextEdit, when it crashes, has a recovery system in place. Does Numbers and iWork as a whole? Any solutions would be extremely useful and before you write anything I was out of the house when I was writing it so I couldn't back up with Time Machine and nor could I use the progressive backup since I hadn't saved it because I thought it would be ok in Numbers. I was obviously wrong. If it is any use I'm still using the trail as I'm waiting for the serial number which I am buying along with iLife '09. Thank you in advance for any solutions!

Sorry, you can only go back to your last save or backup file. If you never saved, your out of luck. Sorry.

How do I recover a "lost" font in Pages? The font file appears to exist in my MS Office area.

How do I recover a lost font in pages? The font management process seems very opaque, lots of areas on the hard drive with font folders. None seems to match the list of fonts I can pull down from the font menu in Pages. At the moment, the font I need is Century Gothic, which does reside in the MS Office area, but nowhere else that I can find. Would greatly appreciate help!

Thanks for the idea, fruhulda. I just checked (Jul 18) and the "missing" font is there. However, yesterday I tried a full restart of my computer, and it seemed to fix (?) the problem, so I still am not sure what happened. At any rate, the problem is now gone.

I was using word 365 (university) when my macbook pro shut down due to lack of battery. I recovered all the files just fine when logging back in by telling it to open all the iwndows that had previously been opened.
However, I continued to work on my file without saving it (it's now an autorecovery doc). When the same happened again a few days later and I asked it to open up all open windows, it didn't come back up.
Using Disk Drill, I found a file that seems to contain some of the info I had but I have to pay to get it to recover it and can't tell if the whole file is there (seems it may just be that first bit, the first autorecovery).
I basically want to know if there would be a copy of my whole file anywhere on the system because, if so, I can take it into a computer shop and get them to get it for me. Unless there's a fairly simple way I could do it myself (have already looked under the /var/private section and it's not there - disk drill seemed to pick up a lot of docs that weren't there actually, some from a very long time ago).

How can I use time machine to recover my iWeb09 files?

I read that iWeb stores one's website pages in the domain folder which can be located at ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Can I use time machine to recover my iWeb09 files? If so, how? -I tried. I entered my Time Machine back up, and went back in time and brought the domain file forward but it opened only my current site pages, not the ones I am trying to recover. And it says the Domain file was last modified in October 2007 which is crazy because I've been using iWeb a lot and have published many pages. It seems like the uncorrupted pages, which I am trying to recover, existed somewhere on my computer at one point in time and space, less than a week ago, becuse I just published my site to a new hosting service since Apple will soon stop web hosting. So why can I not find them using time machine?

I continued searching and read another person's advise to down load an app named "Find File," then search for .sites. She said spotlight doesn't always find all files. So I did and sure enough, when I searched for .sites I found another Domain package, which I have no idea how it was created but which, it ends up, was the one actually being used by iWeb. So I went to that package then did the time machine and went back to before my web pages became corrupted. I had to delete corrupt blog pages out of my website menu to get iWeb to upload the other page changes even to a local folder.
So I went to that newly found Domain, went back in time, then brought that forward and as you pointed out the domain package had the parts of the pages, the files and jpegs, but not the structure/layout of the pages. So, I guess I gave up on finding the old pages.
Those pages still exist on the Apple hosting server but iWeb doesn't not reverse publication. Cyberduck would bring back the files and bits and peices but again not the pages as a total entity. I'm preparing for the end of Apple website hosting (next month?) and am republishing my old site. I decided to use a new domain name. So my entire original site is still totally intact on the web under the original domain name, on my mobile me site, I guess it will be there till sometime in June?
My problems started when I tried to publish my website to the new server. It just would not publish the whole website in one session. So I decided to do it a few pages at a time. Some pages went up, but as I added more, for some unknown reason the, blog pages, (about 70 subpages), which had aleardy uploaded just fine to the new server, became corrupt and locked up iWeb. Of course once I deleted the corrupt pages I didn't want to continue publishing the site to the host until I found and reinserted uncorrupted pages, knowing publishing changes would delete the already published pages.
At first I thought it was the hosting server's fault, but when I discovered that it wouldn't publish even to a local fold I was able to locate the cause within iWeb, deleted those pages then tested by publishing to a local folder. iWeb worked locally, so I knew I had found the problem pages. Well this is way more than you wanted to know. Thanks for your advise but I'll just start the blogging pages over.

It depends what you are using, you haven't told us, and whether you ever saved in the first place which you also haven't told us.
In OSX Lion (OSX 10.7) Pages will have auto-saved after the initial save and reopening the file will take you back to the last save.
Prior to Lion you would only have the last saved version. Utilities like ForEverSave would have auto-saved for you or you would need to manually save with command s.
If your whole Mac froze and it wasn't a battery issue in a laptop, then I would try and determine the reason as this should not be happening.

Is there any way to recover a lost file after a crash if one ALSO accidentally clicked 'no' to the promopt to open an unsaved file? Are these stored somewhere and therefore recoverable? Thank you

Not very likely, but you can try the temp folder, which is:
C:/Users/_USER NAME_/AppData/Local/Temp/Adobe/Acrobat/11.0

Recover iDisk iWeb Files?

Can I recover an iWeb site and pages still on my iDisk but no longer in iWeb on my computer? Also, I don't understand why they are there when I deleted them on in iWeb and republished. Folks are still finding the site on line and viewing them, with positive feedback, so I thought I might like to recover and update them. Thanks!

No you can't recover the files from your iDisk. iWeb has no import facility so is unable to open html files - files that have been published. iWeb creates html files upon publishing, but can't import them.
You need to go to your iDisk and delete your site directly from here for it not to be viewed on line any longer. No good deleting the files in iWeb itself - if it is published you need to delete it from where it is published - in your case this will be MobileMe and your iDisk. Delete the files from here and the site will go.
As far as the files are concerned, you will have to re-create your site from scratch in iWeb. Nothing else you can do, but remember to backup your sites next time. Some people have to learn the backing up lesson the hard way.

Recover a single file in Content Services

I've been asked to document how we would go about recovering a single file in Content Services. The Trash/Archive angle I'm clear on, but what about an extreme case. Lets say that someone created a file, trashed it, emptied the trash, and then it expired from the Archive before the user realized that they needed the file.
Is it possible, and if so how would one go about getting the file back assuming that there is a full db backup once a day?
Would enabling BFILE aging help? If so, how?
On a related note: If archive is set to expire content after 1 month, but BFILE aging is turned off, when does deleted content get purged from the Archive? It's not 1 month, as I have deleted files in the Archive going back to January.

Archive expiration and BFile aging are orthogonal. BFile pushes the LOBs of documents that are in the archive to bfile. Archive expiration deletes files from the archive after the configured time. If this is not the behaviour you are seeing please file a TAR and they can help check whether your system is configured correctly or if you are running into a bug.

PLEASE, TAKE THESE COMMENTS ON TWO CRITICAL BUGS VERY SERIOUSLY BECAUSE THE BUGS DESCRIBED BELOW ARE SO CRITICAL THAT I CANNOT USE THE LATEST VERSION OF FIREFOX UNLESS THEY DO NOT APPEAR IN THE LATEST VERSION AND THEREFORE I AM FORCED TO REVERT BACK TO FIREFOX 26.
I have Windows 7 64-bit and Firefox 26. I could not install Firefox 27, 28, and 29 due to the persistent presence of the two critical bugs described below. I have 8 GB of RAM and an Intel quad-core processor and a lot of hard disk space available.
I installed Firefox 27 and then Firefox 28 a while back and these two bugs described below were still present and now I have just checked again with Firefox 29 by installing it and yet again, these two bugs described below are present!! I am forced to revert to Firefox 26!
First, I use Windows 7 64-bit and I always use Firefox with at least 120 tabs opened. BUT I have 8 GB of RAM, an Intel core i7 quad-core processor and more than 1 TB of hard disk space. Consequently, I do not understand why I would have these two critical bugs.
With Firefox 26, I also have at least 120 tabs opened when I start Firefox and I do not have the two critical bugs described below, therefore I do not believe that the number of tabs is the reason of the two critical bugs that are present in Firefox 27, 28, and 29.
---FIRST CRITICAL BUG:
When I open ANY web page and do File, "Save Page As", the window that is supposed to open to locate the folder where I want to save this web page does NOT open at all, even if I wait a long time to see if it opens.
Same problem happened with Firefox 27, 28, and now 29!! When I reverted back to Firefox 26, this problem did NOT happen anymore!
---SECOND CRITICAL BUG:
When I use Google Images, for instance entering model in the search field of Google Images and then pressing enter.
Then I select any picture, open to a new tab this selected picture, then open a new tab by selecting the option View for this picture. Then right-click the picture and select "Save Image As".

I have no idea if you will be able to reproduce these two critical BUGS but I can assure you that they are not present when I use Firefox 26 and they are present when I use Firefox 27, 28, and 29. More, be aware that I have at least 100 tabs opened but I also have this same number of tabs opened in Firefox 26 and yet I do not experience these two critical bugs when I have Firefox 26!
Once again, these two bugs touch at two vital, critical very basic functions of Firefox and therefore I will NOT be able to use any version above 26 if these two bugs are still present, as they are present in Firefox 27, 28, and now 29!!!
Please, make it a priority to solve these two critical bugs. Thanks.

I am still reading it again to try to figure out exactly what the person did to make his problems be solved, as the post is not clear at all on what solved the problems!
In any case, all the suggestions proposed in this post do not work and I surely cannot do a system restore when it is obvious that the two bugs do not appear in Internet Explorer.

First, I sent an email to the author of PhotoME to inform him of the serious issues his addon caused with Firefox latest versions.
Now, for those of you who do not have the PhotoME addon and yet experience the same problem that I had and that I described above, I suggest the following strategy.
As PhotoME did cause these problems with Firefox latest versions, I am pretty covinved other addons probably might cause these problems too. Therefore, adopt the following method.
Test one addon at a time to see if this particular addon is behind your Firefox issues like the ones I had.
So, disable one addon only at a time. Then close your Firefox and restart it from scratch and see if you still have your Firefox problems. You must restart the Firefox browser from scratch. If you still have these Firefox problems, re-enable the disabled addon, restart your Firefox (again!) and repeat the same method for every single addon that you have.
Try to be selective by choosing first addons that are more likely to cause your Firefox problems such as not very well-known or not very popular addons (like it was the case for the PhotoME addon).
If this method works or if it does not work, report it on this web page so that others can be helped with your comments.
I hope this method will help you because I was really upset that I had these Firefox problems and I first thought it was the fault of Firefox, only to discover later that this PhotoME addon was the culprit and had caused me such upset.
