Hi aryaamehr,
During boot-up, if pressing Fn+F2 does allow you to access the BIOS, can you try to:
1. Remove the AC adapter and battery then press the power button for 20secs.
2. Reconnect the AC adapter without putting the battery back in and press the One Key recovery button If a menu appears, choose BIOS Setup
Lets make 2015 the year of the #DO

  • Lenovo G500 Black Screen

I am fully aware that there are many threads similar to this one, but i have yet to find one that solves my problem.
I have a 3 month old Lenovo G500, with windows 8 installed on it. I recently tried to use it after leaving it closed,  probably on energy saver mode..Unfortunately the screen will not turn on, even thugh it can connect to a outside monitor just fine. I have tried removing the battery, installing varius drivers and holding the start button in for a decent length of time. Is there anything i can do to fix this, any mistake i am making, as i really need my laptop for university.
Apologies for any inconveniances and i appreciate your time.

Hi, try to unplug all energy sources (battery and AC adapter) and then hold start button for 30 seconds or more. After that plug only AC adpater and then turn it on. That procedure helped me, and maybe for you will be also useful, Try it several times. You can try also restart it several times with outside monitor plugged in,this also worked for mine

Lenovo tech support is similar to Microsofts.Pretty useless. Even when you pay each money for help they point the finger at each other. If it was not so disgusting it would be laughable. At some point i hope a tech center is hit with a power outage that last a few decades so people will **bleep** can the garbage you sell and go else where. I repair computers for people daily. Most are failry stright foward problems.Unless its a Lenovo. Then its a nightmare. No wonder the local business people refuse to even take one in to work on.Of course writing this will do zero.About the same as spending money on Lenovo products and support

    hi Claretblue32,
    Welcome to the Forums.
If you get a black screen after you type your password on the Windows login screen and you have installed a 3rd party software (eg. PC Cleanup tools) before this happened then it's likely that you have a malware infection.
    To verify, try the following:
    1.  On the black screem, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. If the Task Manager opens, check the Processes tab if you have apps that says Search Protect, Vosteran, or Run Once Wrapper and hit End Process.
If this works, the desktop should appear and you can run antimalware utilities (eg. Malwarebytes) to clean the system.
    2. If pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc doesn't open Task Manager, do a hard restart and on the Windows login screen, hold the Shift Key and click the power button at the lower right hand side then choose Restart. If successful, you should see the PBR mode screen.

From here, you can boot in Safe Mode, or perform a System Restore / Refresh or Reset to isolate the issue.

  • Lenovo G570 black screen on boot

One day, I tried booting my G570 and then this happened : All I saw was a black screen. I heard the hardrive sounds and bootup sounds, no beeps. I tried all of the fancy stuff like that taking out the battery and ac adapter thing and plugging it into a monitor, but that's it. Now I'm wondering if it's the graphics card, and if so, is it easy to replace? And if not, what IS the issue?
    EDIT : Read 3rd comment, a reply :
When the monitor says "Going to Sleep" maybe it means it's stuck in sleep mode, if it's THAT... How do I get it to go in full fleged on mode?
PS : All of us Canadians don't say "eh" any more then you Americans!

    Hi  Cookie2
    Thanks for the reply.
As you have mentioned that there is no display even in external monitor hence this might be an issue with the motherboard, hence suggest you to visit the nearest service center for further details.

  • Lenovo W500 Black Screen | Tried all the manuals already...

    Hello,
I just joined this board though I hope to get some help here.
First of all, I know that there have been sevaral threads discussing these issues already but unfortunately non of them could help me to solve the problem.
Sometimes when I boot my W500 the screen stays black. The computer is booting up in the background but the screen is either just black with background light activated or just black as if the computer was turned off.
I have switchable graphics activated and all drivers were installed properly and according to manuals that promise to solve this issue. I tried every posible combination in the BIOS (including resetting the whole configuration of course). The BIOS is up to date. Windows 7 is installed.
To be honest, I doubt that it is an hardware issue. If the screen stays black there is at least one thing that I can do: I remove the hard disk, start the pc and hey.... the picture is back. I put the hard disk back into the pc and it works for 1-2 boot processes. Maybe this just unloads the CMOS but I doubt that this is the only reason though pressing the on/off switch sevaral times with disconnected power cable does not do the job (or at least very unfrequently).
I would like to know how this works, so that maybe I can come up with a proper solution. I need my W500 for daily work and always removing the hard disk is totally annoying.
Unfortunately the Lenovo Support on the phone was not very helpful. They said it was a Windows 7 issue and that I should install Windows XP for my notebook to work properly. Weird though they are offering drivers for Windows 7 ;-)
I think I do not have to explain why Windows XP would be a bad choice anyway, today (security,compatibility...).
I hope you guys can help me! Thank you for your time!

I also have a W500 and am using it now.  Unfortunately I am running Linux and do not experience this problem.
Can you connect an external monitor when the screen is black?  This might let you see something. Try to learn how to log in to the system using only the keyboard (write down steps with arrows and/or tabs) and see if you can log in while the screen is black.  Windows may reset the graphics after login and that might at least help you narrow down your problem or give additional information.
I am using the integrated graphics option in the BIOS.  You mentioned trying all the BIOS options, but perhaps changing them is causing a n+1 problem.  It will be fine on that boot, but the next one causes a problem.  Can you verify this blank screen happens when you have integrated graphics set?  If so then set the graphics option to only discrete and try a few boots.  If you can use either one that would be important information and help narrow down the problem.
My W500 is awesome, and I have been very happy with it.  I hope you can figure out this problem and fix your problem.

  • Lenovo A730 black screen

I use Win 8.1. After installing Win updates, the PC worked fine for the rest of the day. When it went to sleep at night, the screen was black when I tried to wake it up in the morning. The lights were blinking so the PC was apparently working. I searched the net on my laptop and I restarted the PC with shift/F8 and on button. It worked just fine for one day. The next night it went to sleep and the screen remained black in the morning. I can turn it off and on, the lights are blinking. I tried rebooting with shift/F8, F1 and F12. None of these worked. I would appreciate suggestions. Thanks, Chris

This seems to be fairly widespread as more owners with this problem are reporting here. Those of us who have found our way here looking for a solution are surely a fraction of owners with this issue. I thought I had found a fix here but the blank screen reoccured. Many of us have tried everything to resolve this but nothing has worked. Lenovo support, can you please step in and give all of us the official word?

  • Lenovo G555 black screen

Hi, I have one G555 and it's not booting up, it showed black scren, the display doesn't turn on. So far I've tried troubleshooting with these steps
    1. Removed the battery
    2. 1 stick RAM moved to 2nd slot
    3. removed the HDD with the RAM stick inserted
Any of these steps didn''t show anything on the screen, fans are working 2 lights - power and battery are solid.
I'm going to try to put it on the external monitor.

Did this get sorted? I seem to have same problem! Ta

  • Lenovo T60 Black SCREEN

    Hello!
A problem I turn to you, you have a 2007 (?) Lenovo T60 notebook om, but nowadays anything doing that when I play a game (in this case, GTA SA) then after an add about five minutes, the monitor goes blank and you have to restart the machine. In this case, in principle, the GPU temperature goes up to a maximum of 75 to 80 degrees. However, when he did not go to cooling (no) then was relieved that the GPU is 90-98 degrees and not turned off.
Currently I'm using Windwos XP operating system.
Thank you in advance for your answers and your help!

  • Lenovo G505 black screen with a blinking cursor

system displays a blank screen, with a blinking cursor in the left top corner immediately after powering on and the operating system will not start.

    hi there,
It seems like the HDD or the OS is faulty.
Other things that you can try:
    1. If you're running on Windows 7, restart the machine and continuously tap F8 and see if you can select one of the Advanced Boot Options (e.g., Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, etc.)
    2. If the machine is preloaded with Windows 8.1, you will need to create a bootable USB Windows 8.1 flashdrive. From here, boot from the USB flashdrive and attempt repairs on the drive (e.g., automatic repair, chkdsk, bootrec, etc.)
    Guides:
Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create
How to Create a Bootable UEFI USB Flash Drive
    3. Create a bootable UEFI USB Diagnostics and run a scan on the HDD.

You can also take the HDD out and read it on another machine (by using a SATA enclosure) and run some tests.

Could you use the attached file and reply the result?
May i know the specification  of the router that you mentioned?

For doing the upgrade on your own, there are few things you should know:
    1. According to the FAQ: http://www.msi.com/faq/nb-1117.html
PX60 has one M.2 slot, so be careful that your original PX60 spec should be only bundle with one HDD.

  • Black screen and not load bios

I have same problem. Laptop start up battery and charger light are running. HDD and processor sound is hearing. But laptop not load bios and display black screen.
Laptop was running awsome but this problem is found when i try to install new hardware PCI Express Mini Card for wireless WAN. Before installing this hardware I go through bios and enable all radio devices. And than in display option I switch to internal card intead 0f switchable option. Then there is some fn setting in bios that I have enabled. After it I have restrat my laptop then it goes to black screen.. I've tried many tricks as mentioned above but problem is still there.
    Plz someone help me
    I will be very thankfull
    Thanks

It sounds to me like the GPU is bad. Since you cant get RGB out to an external monitor.
Although Ive not heard of bad 9600m gt  chipsets recently.
I have one in my machine as well and its almost two years old.
I have noticed that my GPU runs around 120 F most of the time. Not knowing if thats high but I wouldnt think so.
Just a thought, but have you tried pulling the battery for about 5 minutes. While its out, push the power button for a few seconds and then re-install battery. This may not do anything to help but I know on some devices thats a good way to get a clean re-start and clear memory completly. It certainly wont hurt anything to try.
If your machine was in deep sleep and just by chance fouled up, This procedure will clear the RAM!
