Recover cached address book Outlook 2010

We recently had a user who unknowingly had an address book cached from an old mailbox that was deleted, (mailbox is beyond backup retention date). Is there a way to restore that cache file? I moved her local OST file to a server share to preserve it, but
not sure if changing from OST to PST will do any good to try and recover the cached address book.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Nickname cache may get corrupted and this could have serious effects on Outlook such as it may send message to wrong person, unable to specify recipients and it may provide wrong recipients when completing the e-mail address automatically. However, you can
recover your Nickname file through a manual way. But before following the steps given below, you need to install MS Outlook application on your system and download and extract NK2.info to desktop:
Create Backup of your NK2 file: Close Outlook application (if running) on your system. Go to Run window, type %userprofile%\Application data\Microsoft\Outlook and press enter. Now, copy .nk2 file to your system’s desktop.
Export fields from .nk2 into CSV file: Start NK2.info application. Click on browse andlocate the NK2 file. Contact list and email addresses will be recovered from the NK2 file. After that, click on Export Now and Close.
Import CSV data into Contacts folder of MS Outlook:
Open MS Outlook application and switch to folder view.
Right click on Inbox folder and click on New Folder. From the drop down list of Folder Options, choose Contact Items.
Give a name to the folder and click on OK. A new folder will be created.
Now select file and click Import. Select “Import from another program or file” from the list and then click on Next.
Then, select “Comma Separated Values (Windows)” and click on Next.
Locate nk2.info.csv file an click on Next
Select new folder, click on Next and then click on Finish
Further process needs renaming the file and importing recovered contacts and recreating file, refer this blog to get further steps:-

  • Synchronization address book outlook with blackberry fails (it worked fine before!)

Plse help! Up to now no problems with BB desktop mgr 4.7.0.37 and my BB 7000v. However, since today, when I synchronize the device with MS Outlook address book ('Outlook overrides device'), the following happens:
    - as usual, I have started with clearing the address book from the device
    - desktop manager reads the addresses from Outlook address book
    - then it says something like 'processing device address book' (about a second)
    - normally it would ask me whether I want to accept the changes/additions but now it doesn't
    - at the end, no address have been added to the device.
At first, this problem only occurred with synchronizing the address book - synchronizing the memos still worked ok. Now, however, I run into the same problem with synchronizing the memos as well. as a result, the device doesnot contain addresse and the memos anymore.
    Who can help me?
    Kind regards,

Those are the Mobile Me Servers, that's why your mail does not work, use these settings.

  • How to recover my address book if I didn't use the time machine?

    Hello,
Can you tell me how to recover the address book from Mobile ME and Macbook?  I didn't used the time machine and my contacts from Iphone are totally gone. Thanks

    MobileMe
    Mail and Address book
    Apple Support Snow Leopard
    MacBook Pro
Depends a lot on when, what you have done since (and probably a good idea to not use the computer and devices). Might want to search for data recovery, Data Rescue 3 is handy with Mac and PC computers, not sure about the rest.

  • My computer crashed. HOw can I recover my address book, and emails?

My computer recently died. It was old and I plan to get a new one rather than repair the old one. Is there a way to recover my address book? Recovering old emails would be nice, but I'm really most concerned about all my addresses.

If the hard disk on the old computer still works, you could get someone to copy the profile from it to a CD. Then you could load that profile onto your new computer. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb to locate it.
If the hard disk is not usable, then without backups you don't have much left. :(

  • Does anyone know how to recover an address book

i was adding addresses to address book in the form of vcards in blocks of a 100 or so and i got the beach ball which never managed to recover itself, had to force shutdown and restart and the address book had gone, does anyone know where i can recover it from, cheers in advance for any help.

    This sometimes helps:
    Quit Address Book.
In folder ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook drag file AddressBook.data to the desktop. Rename AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data and restart AB. If your contacts are not back quit AB again and repeat the drag/rename process, this time with AddressBook.data.beforesave.
If you get your contacts back, now is probably a good time to use the AB menu item File/Back up Address Book.

  • Recover my address book

Got an e-mail to update my OS on my ATT Curve; during the update the system crashed with a "fatal error" and when it (the Curve) re-booted, I had lost all of my address book.  It still had some old ones on the SIM card, but none of the new updated ones.  And no, the address book is not also on my MS Outlook contacts list (if so, I could transfer the data) and no, I do not have a recent back-up file.  I seriously want to inflict pain on someone - I am *bleep*-ed or not?

You should be able to find your backup file. It should be named as "backup" plus the date that it was performed. You should be able to save it to another location and then reinstall DM. You can then restore using aforementioned backup file. As to the OP... What provider are you with? Some have a mobile backup, if you did one, it may be stored remotely. Aside from that, if you have an email registered and use BBM... You can automatically get THOSE contacts back as Blackberry has an OTA backup for your BBM contacts. Short of that, I know of no other way.

  • Once on iCloud how do you recover lost address book data?

After moving to iCloud my wife suddenely lost all her contact info earlier today.  When opening Address Book on her iMac & iPad all contact info was gone.  We signed on to iCloud.com and it was gone there too.  For some reason it was still on her iPhone.  I tried to force a merge from her phone by shutting off iCloud Contacts; selecting to keep data on the device; then turned it back on hoping to get the 'merge data' option.  I didn't get that message and sure enough in a few seconds the address book on her phone went empty.
So, this raised the question about where do I recover the data from?  I looked in finder on her iMac under user/Library/Addplication Support/Address Book - there were some files and directories there, but nothing that looked like it was loaded with contact info. I'm assumming once she moved to iCloud the detail is no longer stored locally in OS X?
I went into System Prefs and shut off iCloud Contacts on the iMac, opened Time Machine, went back a week ago (prior to iCloud) and found contact info in the user/Library/Addplication Support/Address Book directory and restored the entire directory.  Opened Address Book and it was populated with data.  turned on iCloud Contacts and selected the 'Merge' data option which then populated her other devices.
So, the question is - what if it had been longer than a week - where is this data (and probably calendar data too!) being backed up and where (and how) would you restore it from if it did suddenly turn up missing?

    RickTexas wrote:
So this gets back to my original question... not sure if bgbrobru is running Time Machine backups, but even if he is, I don't think the Address Book data is recoverable (unless you go back to a pre-iCloud backup) because it is no longer stored locally.
If I understand correctly the only thing we can do going forward is to run a periodic 'manual' export of iCal and Address Book data to insure we have a backup?  In the event I do something stupid and mistakingly delete something or - like what happened to my wife today - the entire address book (or calendar entries) just disapear, we are screwed?  I guess this would also apply to email stored in folders on iCloud?
Seems there should be some way to capture the iCloud data in a Time Machine (or some other mechanism) backup?
    Sorry Rick but that's incorrect,
Here's a shot of the folder it lives in and the path to it, Time Machine backs it up.

  • Recovering Lost Address Book

I've recently run into some trouble with syncing my address book with google contacts and ended up losing all my contacts. It sucked, but I kept my cool and eventually found that all my original contact information seems to be contained within the AddressBook-v22.abcddb within my /Users/bbarcelo/Library/Application Support/AddressBook directory. Needless to say I've got this file backup now and will be smarter about my address book in the future but my real question is this: My old (deleted) contact information appears to have been retained in the previously mentioned file but I can only view it using nano in the terminal. If I try to view it with an SQLite viewer I don't see the information contained in any specific table. Now, it's possible I could parse through this by hand but I was really hoping someone out there knew of a way I could extract everything to a readable format without all the jargon text and such...

sorry, i did misunderstand. then you do need to read that file. I don't know how to do that if Sqlite doesn't work. but for the future, as i said, this is the wrong file to save. it's rather hard to get info from.
the following trick worked for me. i suggest you try it. create a new user account and copy that file to the corresponding place in the home directory on that user account. then start address book on that account. it will read the database file (provided it's not corrupted) and recreate metadata from it. you can then export the contacts in one giant vcard as I suggested and then import that card into the address book on your main account.

  • Recovering emails, address book, etc from old hard drive

I have had a motherboard crash. My data still exists and is accessible if i hook the old drive up as an external drive on another system. Old Op sys is xp media addition. Bought new system with windows 7. I can locate the email profile in the app data folder on the old drive but copying it into the new systems profile folder did not work. Thunderbird acted like i was setting it up for the first time. On the old drive I can see files that correspond to email folders i had previously and it appears that the emails still exist due to the size of the files. It took several minutes to copy the profile folder to a flash drive. If i click on a thunderbird folder on the old drive the system asks what program i want to use. i steer it to thunderbird and a window opens like i want to send an email. I took the old drive and made it the boot drive in another system. It booted but when i opened thunderbird it acted like there was no profile at all. Started asking questions like it had never been set up on an email account before. From what you see here is it still possible to get either my emails, or at least my address book back?
Question 2. is it not the law now that all companies keep an archive of emails for a certain length of time? 3 or 5 years? Might i be able to get them to release the archived emails back to me?

I don't have any personal experience with Thunderbird. There actually is a separate support site here: https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/home

  • Recover Deleted Note from Outlook 2010

I was on my phone the other day working on a note, when i accidentally deleted it! it took me a long time to make the note only to have it deleted, so i was wondering if there was a way to retrieve the note?
When looking for solutions it said mostly how to recover from Office 365, and if you have to pay for that, then i dont have it. neither do i have Share point because i do not know how to configure it. I was using an HTC HD7 windows phone that has Microsoft
OneNote Moblie version 14.5 and is Office 2011, I'm not sure if that helps. But please if anyone can help me out with this problem as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated! Im not familiar with too much technology so i can really use all the help
    i can get.
Entirely, my question is, is there a way to retrieve a deleted note at no cost? I deleted it from my phone and I'm scared ill never be able to retrieve it and the note was really important! Please anyone who can help please reply as soon as possible.
    Thank you!!

    Hi,
Which note did you deleted? The Note in Outlook or an OneNote notebook?
Which type of email account are you using?
If you mean the note in Outlook and you are using Exchange account, please check if you can find it in Deleted Items folder in your Outlook.
If you mean the notes in OneNote, please refer to this post and check if it helps:

  • How do I recover an address book contact deleted by mistake?

Deleted a contact by mistake and need to put it back. Don't have the original email from the contact.

So I downloaded and installed the Add-on. . . and had to restart TB, which emptied my trash folder (where the deleted contact was presumably housed). And, when I visited the add-on after installation, I found nothing relating to recovery of any kind. It's mostly about importing and manipulating vCards, which I'm not interested in.
So, no, it didn't help. I'll keep the add-on for a bit, in case someone can tell my how its recovery function is supposed to work.

  • Clear Outlook 2010 Auto Complete Cache on many desktops

How do I clear the Outlook 2010 Auto Complete on the 1000 desktops in my organization using a script or group policy or any other method? The only method I can find is a manual one that does one desktop at a time and is not feasible for our 1000 desktops.

    Hi,
Auto Complete Cache is the feature in Outlook, I recommend post this problem on
    Outlook Forum.
By the way, I searched around and found the following thread.
