Recover Deleted Song

I sync all my songs to iCloud. Today I accidentally deleted a song right after it synced. How can I recover the song?

Hi Adam Mcinturff,
I'm sorry, I'm a bit unclear on the exact configuration you are describing. If you are talking about syncing/uploading your music to iCloud via iTunes Match, and you accidentally deleted a song off your your iOS device (but not from iCloud), you may be able to redownload it as outlined in the following article:
If you'd like to download the song or playlist to your iOS device, tap the download icon to the right of the song or at the bottom of the playlist.

If the song in question was originally purchased from the iTunes Store, you may also be able to redownload it as outlined in this article:

At the present time that only works if you are in the USA since only the USA has access today to iCloud via it beta.
    From the cited Apple article:

Are these songs/album from iTunes? If so, are the audio files deleted from the iTunes Media folder or just from the iTunes Library? Did you enable iTunes Match?

  • Recovered Deleted Song Files - Now What

On Saturday night, I ventured into amateur land in a big way and inadvertently deleted my entire music library about 15gigs worth. Once you've all have had a laugh and have returned to your chairs you may be able to help me out. I've used Boomerang and recovered the files. Unfortunately, the files are now labled 1 through (in my case) around 4500. I have begun the laborious task of manually relabeling each file with the correct song title and placing them in a newly created Album folder which resides inside the artist folder (also newly created)as this is how my memory tells me Itunes does it. Is there any other way to rectify this? When I click on a file it launches in Itunes and plays correctly which has been a big help in the relabeling process. I'm guessing there is no way to import these files en masse? Does anyone have any experience with this or I am I the only clever enough to delete eight days worth of music? I relabeled the first 400 last night and it took nearly 3 hours. I'm very grateful to have my music files back but I'm hoping someone out there has some time saving magic to share. Thanks.

If it's still an MP3 file and has all the correct tag info, iTunes will rename the files and put them into Artist/Album folders based on what is in the ID3 tags.
*I'm guessing there is no way to import these files en masse?*
Drag them all onto the library icon at the top left of iTunes.

  • Way to recover deleted songs?

I don't sync my ipod, i use the manual system. I stupidly thought I was in a playlist when i was in my music. I then deleted a ton of music. Is there anyway to retrieve it?

You could send it off to a data recovery firm for an estimate to recover them. But I have a feeling the cost would be prohibitive. Were these purchased songs or ones you ripped from CD?

  • How to recover deleted songs from iTunes hard drive (not iPod)

I have a Western Digital hard drive that I use to play all of my mp3 files. Tonight I was creating a playlist by dragging and dropping songs. Although I thought I was editing the playlist, it turns out that I accidently deleted a song from my library ("MUSIC").
Now anytime that I delete something from the external hard drive, it ends up in the recycling bin on my desktop. But that does not seem to be the case with songs that I delete from the "MUSIC" library on my hard drive.
I'm confused. When I accidently deleted this song, where did it go? The folder containing the mp3 file is gone, it is no longer in iTunes and it never appeared in the Recycling Bin. In the past whenever I've accidently deleted a song, I simply went to the Recycling Bin and clicked on "Restore File".
Does anyone know where to find the missing file(s) and how to restore them to my 'MUSIC' folder in iTunes?
Note that this has nothing to do with my iPod, but rather the external hard drive associated with my PC.
Thanking everyone in advance who can help!
    Chad

How I wish it were that simple.
My Recycling Bin is empty, which is what is perplexing. Just to see if this function was working properly I deleted a song from the LIBRARY and guess what? It appeared in the Recycling Bin.
Its a mystery what has happened to these songs.
This has happened on several occassions. I waited years for a few rare songs to come out in digital because only vinyl copies existed. When Apple finally reached a licensing agreement to sell these songs, I downloaded them and created a playlist. Somehow the playlist disappeared including all of the songs from the library. I didn't think anything of it because I thought that I could simply go to iTunes, select PURCHASED songs and add them. To my suprise iTunes does not have a history of my purchase.
Finally, after much trouble back and forth with Apple customer support they sent me a link for two of the most recent songs that I downloaded, but the ones that I downloaded a year or more in the past.
The whole entire scenario has left me scratching my head.

  • Recover deleted songs from itunes library

i have accidentely deleted some music files from my itunes library. however the songs are saved in the ipad2. how can i copy them back to itunes library in the pc?

There are restrictions on what iTunes will transfer from the iPad to the PC, but there are paid and free 3rd party apps that do a good job of transferring just about any type of files that you have between the iPad and your PC.
Do a search on Transferring music from iPad to PC.

  • Recover deleted songs from iTunes using iPod

I will preface by saying, I am an idiot, so please phrase your answers like you're talking to a 10 year old. I have a new Mac (my first) and I had iTunes all set up and working correctly until somehow I deleted a folder with half my music in it. It is all on my iPod, however. How do I get it from my iPod back into iTunes? There is some SINCERE gratitude here for anyone who can help.

If your iPod is set to update automatically you can use a keyboard command to prevent it auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.
Change your update setting to manual so that you can use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article:: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. The procedure is a bit involved but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    iPodRip Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    iPodAccess Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    PodUtil Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are relatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Recover accidentally deleted song?

I'm using the Spotify web player, I was in "Your Music" > "Songs" and was attempting to play a song because I couldn't remember what it sounded like. Well instead of clicking play I accidentally clicked the X just a few pixels to the right and BOOM the song vanished! I didn't remember the name of the artist, album or song so I couldn't bring it back. Is there a way for me to find the name of the song I just removed?

Oh snap. Yah, sorry buddy, there's no way you can recover that song unless you know the song's name/artist/album/etc. I feel you though! This happened to me too! If you have any chance of remebering any of the lyrics from that particular song, type it on google and hope of the best! Again sorry!
    Hope that helps!!

  • I'm editing a band deleting songs, then suddenly it deleted all of the songs by an artist!  It's happened twice. Once I tried to restore them from the recycle bin but it did'nt work.  The 2nd time the songs were not in the recycle bin.  Why?

I'm editing a band by deleting songs I do not like on iTunes on my PC. When I believe I'm deleting a song it ends up deleting ALL of the songs by that band (this is after I've deleted many individual songs sucessfully)!  This has happened twice since the new version of iTunes.  The first time I tried to restore the songs from my recycle bin but they just vanished when I tried to restore them.  The second time (today)  the songs were not even in the recycle bin.  Has this happened to anyone else out there? I have to now relocate all of those cd's and then reinstall them and go through them and put songs back onto various playlists (I have a lot of them).  Hassle!!!

Time you backed up so you can recover in the event of a crisis.

  • What will happen when I delete songs

I have an older gateway computer and with a 20 Gig hard drive. I just got a 60 Gig ipod (3X's the computer). My music library is 7 gigs. I want to sync up with itunes and transfer everything over to the ipod and then delete most the music off the computer to create more room. Will I run into any complications the next time i sync up with itunes and most the songs are gone. I am afraid to try this before I know what is going to happen.

You have to set up your iPod preferences in iTunes to update songs manually. If you are set to automatically update iPod and you delete songs from your computer then you will lose them on your iPod.
Now you will also have a problem with manual updates if you lose some or all of your music on your iPod. Unless you have the music backed up somewhere or have all the CDs to import music again this will be a problem. You will not be able to recover purchased music unless on a CD somewhere.
You might consider buying a bigger harddrive (Seagate has some great deals these days) or an external hard drive.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

  • How do I restore deleted songs on my ipod

    Hello all,
I have an issue. I have the U2 limited edition IPod. I accendently deleted all of my music from the IPOD. How do I restore the deleted songs? I don't have the songs backed up anywhere, and most of the songs are not from my computer. (I collected the songs from various computers from different friends.) Please help.

It's not yet "the end"...(as far as I know) When you delete songs in your Ipod, it's still "there"...something like "recycle bin"...you just can't "see them"...
I was able to used a program about 2 weeks ago that enables you to "actually" delete(shred) or recover songs in your ipod...But, I'm sorry, I forgot the name...
Well, thought I'd just tell you that...to - at least - give you a little "hope" =)
