Recover Erased Files while creating partition

Hi all,
I recently divide external partition with Disk Utility. Without knowing that divide partition for external will erase all files, I lost my few hundred GBs files. For such a big files, it only take less than 3 min to create partition. Hence, I'm thinking will the files were kept somewhere temporary?
Hope to get your advice how i can recover my files. Really careless because thinking it will work like divide partition for mac drive without erase your files.

Basics of File Recovery
Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

How to skip blank line (EOF char) at the end of the file while creating ?

In my program I have to create a file in Text mode using OPEN DATASET statement. This file is being sent to a third party system for their processing. I came to know while creating the file using OPEN DATASET, one LF character is inserted end of the file resulting a blank line end of the file. Thus if my internal table contains 5 reocrds, in the created text file I can see 6 lines where last is a blank. My question is how to remove this blank line which is causing issue in the thirdparty system.
Here is the Code I have used.

Write the file in Text Mode
        OPEN DATASET lv_outpf FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING NON-UNICODE

an effective way to do it:
open your dataset in binary mode, transfer the records but between each record transfer the LF (or CRLF according to your need)
after the last record you don't transfer the LF

Unable to find Par file while creating iview in the template

Iam trying to change the Masthead iview, i deployed in NWDS and successfull. but while creating iView in the portal i could find the par file in the template.
And when iam creating sample Portal application it is visible in template.
Setting in the NWDS are correct. Can any one suggest what is happening here.

don't try to create an iView from template, but one from par. In the list you'll find your project name and within the project - voila: your portal application.

Disk utility-erasing a HD, creating partition map hanging

Hi all,
I have been given an external Maxtor USB drive, 120 BG, with the need to securely wipe the old information on it. I have used Disk Utility, and zeroed the HD with a 7 times pass. This took 17 hours, and it moved to the "create partition map" stage. It's been doing that for 24 hours and still the progress bar is rolling. All other options are greyed out and nothing can be selected in Disk Utility. I have chosen to format it in Mac OS X Extended, Journaled. There was about 45 GB data on the drive.
Would this amount of time be expected, or has something gone wrong? I hesitate to force quit DU, in case I render the drive unusable. If I do that or shut down the computer, what's likely to happen to the HD? Will I be able to mount it again and start over. Any tips much appreciated.

Hi Frances,
17 hours for the 7-times pass is normal (and usually completely unnecessary unless you work for the CIA). However, the hang at the "create partition map" stage is not normal. I would interrupt it and reformat the drive, since the zeroing is finished anyway.

Recovering erased files

Good day, helpful Mac people.
I was planning to work on my wife's iBook G4 14" 1.33mhz running 10.4 so I was going to back it up to a usb drive. I meant to erase the USB drive but erased my wife's hard drive instead!
I down loaded MacKeeper but thought to ask if anyone has used it before MacWorld had a good review of it.

While I'm not certain of the best path to take in the recovery of any data
you may be able to get from the computer's hard disk drive, your best
and progressive angle would be to have another hard disk drive to save
anything recoverable, to. FireWire is usually best with PPC Macs.
Were you using the Disk Utility from another booted OS X volume? Usually,
the system itself is protected from self-erasure while it is running, so what
you did would be a level of difficulty to deter casual erasure of the system.
There are commercial data recovery services; also retail third party
software such as ProSoft Data Rescue for use to attempt a recovery.

A better backup volume for an iBook G4 would be a FireWire enclosed hard
disk drive; and use a clone utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner; this can
make a complete boot-clone that would also backup the Mac's system.
This is helpful in restoring a functional system, or if one upgrades, the old
system could be used to revert if it were cloned before the upgrade.
You may have to use a bootable recovery software on disc media; unless
you intend on having the iBook G4 running in FireWire Target Disk Mode
and then try to recover data from it, to another Mac, via FW400 cable. The
recovery software could then be running on the healthy Mac; and saved
data stored on a third storage device or maybe on DVD-R media.
I've no experience with MacKeeper software; but most utilities, the plan
to make the best use of it probably requires some hardware to save files
from the suspect Mac for later recovery, not on the iBook and not on
the hard disk drive of the computer running the recovery software.
Recovery software on its own bootable media disc can be helpful; so long
as it is compatible with the system files and OS it is expected to work with.

In order to create a file in the directory, you would need to write a ABAP program from your side.. like OPEN DATASET. or else Basis would help you to create this fro you.

i have created one ADF application.
it works fine with integrated server.
now i want to create the Deployable EAR file for this application to deploy it on another server (Other Than IntegratedWeblogic Server)
when i try to create the EAR following trace would be printed on Deployment-Log

here it removes the trinidad-api.jar and trinidad-impl.jar from my EAR saying that "Removing the following prohibited entry from the EAR: lib/trinidad-api.jar "
so why this happen ?
this EAR file creates problem while deployment.
if i manually put both Jars in EAR, it works fine..
can anybody please help on this ?

I am trying to create a range partition on a insertdate column and a list subpartition on last 2 digits of a phone number. So, each partition should have 100 subpartition.

According to the documentation, you can only use a column_name there. If you correct, this one, there are some more errors in your statment:
values keyword in the subpartition definitions
the partitions clause must be enclosed by parentheses
each partition clause must be separated by a comma.
The following statement is syntactically valid, but it is may be not what you want. Is it possible that you subpartition by hash? Why list subpartitioning? Is subpartitioning needed at all?
