Recover Error 10-FC12-0241

(Laptop:  Satellite L675-S7018)  Attempted a full restore using the internal restore program.  Went smoothly until the end when I got the Error Message, 10-FC12-0241.  Shut down the computer as requested.  Then attempted a full restore using the discs I made when I first got the machine.  Same thing.  As the last disc was spinning, the same Error Message popped up.  I finally spent $30.00 for Toshiba Factory Restore Media CDs, and tried them.  Just before the program ended (Disc 3), I got the same error message and ended up shutting down the computer.  Anyone know what the problem might be, or at least what Error 10-FC12-0241 means and how it can be corrected?  I can't find an E-MAIL address for Toshiba Support anywhere on the site.  Seems like they don't want to be bothered with questions about laptops that are out of warranty.
By the way, the computer was working OK before all this.  The only issue I had was that about 70% of my Windows Updates were "failing," so I thought nuking it and starting over might solve the problem. So much for THAT bright idea !!

Hi Bongiorno59,
I got the Error Message, 10-FC12-0241.
I encounter this problem before to my Satellite L450 and what I did is follow the steps provided by microsoft:
It is the cause of either Memory Card or Hard Disk.  First I tried to change hard disk.  It was still giving the same error.  Then I tried to change the memory and it works fine.  Try to replace both the memory card.  You will see it work.

Hope this works for you!

Probably because the recovery program doesn't support USB connected devices.

  • Stops at "Now Recovering... Please wait " after 3% and gives error 10-fc12-0570

This happens to my Toshiba Satellite L505-S5998 laptop.  I tried to do system restore after I experience my system functioning very slow.  Since I didn't do Recovery disk, I tried to system recovery from the hard disk itself.  It copied all the files to the hard disk and while doing the "Now Recovering... " process, it stops and displays the error message screen with the error "10-FC12-0241"
I contacted the Toshiba Support and enquired about it.  I was informed that it could be a hard disk problem and might be resolved by changing the hard disk.  I bought a new hard disk Seagate 750GB ST9750420AS and also purchased Recovery Disks from Toshiba.
It gave me Hard disk related error message 10-FC12-0241.  When I contacted Toshiba, I was informed that the hard disk might not be compatible with the laptop.  I contacted BestBuy and I was told that Hard disk will fine with my laptop and there is no compatible issues with laptop hard disks.
I installed back the original hard disk  and tried to install Windows XP.  During installation, it is asking me to insert Service Pack Disk, which I didn't receive.  Looks like the original hard disk is not defective, since files are copied in the hard disk.
I ordered for another set of Recovery disk and tried to install it.  Copied files from 3 CD's as usual and at the " Now Recovering process, it stops at 3% completion.  It gives error 10-FC12-0570.
Is there any solution in sight ?  Appreciate your advice.

    Hi,
I think the error codes that you are receiving is actually about the memory.
You can search for those error code s by typing them on the Ask Iris search bar.
The second error code is also related to memory problems.
    Hope this helps.

  • "Cannot recover" Error when opening InDesign doc

We are a Server 2008 w/ XP/SP3 client environment. I have a user that opens an InDesign doc located on a shared network drive, does some work on it, and closes it. When the next person opens it, they get this error: "Cannot recover <<filename>>.indd. Please try to open it using the File menu. The file <<filename>>.indd has been changed since Adobe InDesign last quit (Error code: 11). They can click "OK" to this. The next window that pops up has an error: This document contains links to missing or modified files. Click Fix Links Automatically to have InDesign update this document with the modified files and help you locate missing files..." there's more about using the links panel, etc. They click "don't fix" and the document opens. To the best of my knowledge it is happening on just one file.
I'm pretty sure the second error is because we recently took a server off-line that some of the links had been pointing to; I've informed my users they need to update the links in the files. It's the first error I'm wondering about. The first user I mention at the beginning has been having *tons* of trouble with InDesign the last week or so. It locks up, freezes panes, and needs to be ended through task manager. It's been unbearable for both her and myself trying to figure out what's wrong. My hurdle is that I don't use the software at all but I'm in IT support so so I'm in charge of troubleshooting but not sure where to begin.
Can someone please help with the error we are receiving and also, provide some suggestions on how I can troubleshoot the performance issues?
    Her system specs:
    XP2002/SP3
    3GB RAM
    P4 2.8GHz proc.
Not sure on the graphics card but can retrieve it will be helpful. User does use dual monitors.
    TIA!

Reinstalling won't necessarily fix the kinds of problems you are having since they may have nothing to do with the application itself. I woud uninstall first, whenever possible, and immediately run any updates. Changing the preferences would be more productive as a first step though. Prefs are not automatically replaced on a new installation, either -- it depends on what option you chose during the uninstall.
    For your questions:
    1) When a file is opened, ID write a file with the extension .idlk in the same directory. This file tells any instance of ID that the file is already open and in use and prevents multiple users form having simultaneous access. It may or may not be deleted (usually not) during a crash scenario.
    2) Generally speaking it is not possible for mere mortals to recover a corrupt ID file. Tommy Donovan at Adobe is collecting them for study, but makes no promise of recovery. The folks at Markzware say they have some luck using their ID2Q plugin for Quark Xpress to open and save as a Quark file, then going back the other way using Q2ID to convert back. They might do a on-off for a small fee.
    3) Go to the link in the previous response, and scroll down to the part about repalcing preferences. Editing the prefs in the edit menu is not the same as replcing them with a new set. The files that need to be replaced are InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData.
    4) If there is something wrong on User 1's system that is corrupting the file, it would show up when User 2 opens it. Export the file to Interchange format (.inx), then open that file and save as a new .indd file. That can often clean up minor problems (i.e. those not serious enough to keep the file from opening at all).

  • Itouch does not recover - error 1611

    I bought a new itouch.
When switching on: The black screen with the white apple appeared,
but only for a few seconds, then it disappeared.
Trying to recover using reset and re-installing the software caused the
error described in the apple help docs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307219(1611)
None of the methods described here (and in the referenced articles)
    worked.
My interpretation: For one reason or the other, the battery is completely
empty. It does not charge as the software necessary is not working (therefore
I need to recover). Recovering does not work as the battery is empty ... .
Help from apple is urgently needed here as there are many similar complaints.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
These are user-to-user forums only. Apple input is rare.
If you have worked through all those documents and still had no luck with the iPod touch then I would advise contacting AppleCare and speaking to Apple direct for further guidance.
In the meantime I would update your system (i.e. to 10.4.11, make sure you ahev iTunes 7.5 etc) and work through these troubleshooting steps too:

OS and DB version? Why is recovery needed? What is your recover command? Can you put the database in mount state? If yes then you can recover database by create the backup control file and then start up using that. Also you can recover provided you database is in archivelog mode.

  • SLI GTX 970 Nvlddmkm "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" Error

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with driver crashes and was hoping someone on here would be able to help. The error I am getting is: Nvlddmkm "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
    My PC specs are:
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    i7 4770k with Corsair H100i
    2x 8GB HyperX RAM
    Asus Maximus VII Ranger Mobo
    2x MSI GTX 970's
    750w Superflower Leadex PSU
I've noticed that the error usually happens while the cards are cooling down after playing a game, although it has been known to occasionally happen while gaming. I am have MSI Afterburner running and have noticed that the GPU usage spikes up to 100% then the power usage drops completely just before the crash.
This problem has persisted through 3 clean OS installs so I do not believe it is a driver issue.
My initial thoughts were that the PSU could be insufficient, but after some reading online my system really shouldn't draw anywhere near 750w. What do you think? I am not totally clued up on PSU's, so not sure if my wiring could also be causing the issue - here's a pic:
The cards use a single cable that joins both cards for both 8-pins, then two other power cables for the 6-pin. Would this be a problem?
It's also worth noting that the issue doesn't seem to occur when SLI is disabled. I never had any problems with the original card prior to adding a second card though so I do not think it needs RMA'ing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.

Quote from: Svet on 08-June-15, 17:36:36
oki remove the second card[your old one] and test the newest card only
I will try this tomorrow, thanks.
A bit more info, it crashes with SLI disabled. Just found out tonight for definite.
Here is a screenshot of what MSI Afterburner shows when it crashes.

  • Frozen ipod after new updates, will not recover, error codes 1601 and 1602

i updated my ipod last night, was working fine, turned off, then on again this morning. was working fine this morning for a while, then went completely blank, will not start up, just completely dead. i have tried to restore, several times and get error code 1601, and 1602. have tried restarting my computer, checking for updates, restarting my itunes, using another computer, tried another lead, and everything else suggested by support. it will just not do anything. has anyone got any suggestions, please.

I would suggest that you put your iPod into the recovery mode and restore it. Next time something like this, it is better to start with the more basic troubleshooting steps first before trying to restore. The two easiest are restart and reset.
Try these steps with your touch.
    1. Unplug the device from your computer
    2. Turn the touch off - hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the red slider and turn the device off. Note: this may not work. If not, go to the next step.
    3. Start iTunes
    4. Hold the Home button down and keep holding it down while you plug your iPod back into your computer.
    5. Keep holding the button down until iTunes tells your "that an iPod in Recovery mode has been detected".
    6. Let go of the button and follow the on screen instructions to restore the touch.

  • Msi GT683R "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error.

I bought a laptop before 6 months, installd windows 7 x64 and everything works fine. Suddenly, five days before I got this eror " Display driver stopped responding and has recovered ... "but the laptop operates normally, when not connected to the charger, the only difference is that the graphics card works only on P8 state 203/606/324. I've tried everything, install new windows, tried all the video drivers back 6 version, tried two different chargers, raised the voltage in the video card, flash the latest BIOS, flash latest EC driver, changed several types of RAM memory, installed win xp x64, all drivers are from MSI's website, tested temperatures (everything is fine, no overheating), blew video card out of the dust, new thermal paste, tried to change the regedit key (Microsoft recommend), the last windows update, etc, etc. I tried to OC video card with MSI Afterburner, but does not want to accept the clock (last nvidia driver version 314.07) ... On various forums I saw that a lot of people have a similar problem, but not the one topic has a problem with the charger. I tried all sorts of modifications to the 3D nvidia utility. Currently I run out of ideas, I thank you in advance for your help!!!

I have tested the RAM, hard drive, CPU and passed without any problems, including stress testing the GPU and everything ok ", but as soon as the pc game freezes.
The funny thing is that this never happens while I play with the battery without direct current is connected, but it is annoying the fact the battery only play for an hour.

  • "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error

Hi, I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1 and now from time to time, I am receiving the error above on the right side of the screen and my photoshop files won't open. Instead it just freezes and becomes unresponsive so I have to close Photoshop from going to 'End Task'. I don't know whether it was the Windows upgrade that caused this because it has never happened before. Is there any way to fix this issue because I am not even able to use the program. By the way, I am using CS6.

I have two different ones:  Intel  (the one that's causing the problem) and NVIDIA. However when I tried uninstalling and deleting the Intel, I noticed it was back in the 'Display Adapters'. I never had this problem until now.
