Recover exchange database *.edb or if possible the mailboxes

Hi, there
Yesterday i made a terrble mistake, i change my config IIS in my server, and i broke every thing, so, in order to fix it, i reformat the HArd drive and reconfigure my AD Server.
Before that i made a backup of may mailbox database, but didnt dismount. Now i cannot mount again my database, it tells that "MAPI Exception Called....." which means i lost everything. I'm quite desperate, i didint sleep last night.
Today, after some research, i found some products that doesnt work, in order to recover my edb file. Nothing work, Also i tried using Eseutil /p <database dir>, then Eseutil /d <database dir>. didnt work too!
Please if you could help me i would apreceate....Marco Enxuto,

Not sure if "CreateLdifFromDisconnectedMailboxes.ps1" is available for Exchange 2010 and works in it (don't have Exchange 2010 test environment in front of me) but this script can create AD accounts from disconnected mailboxes available in Exchange 2007 Database.
Take a look if it helps somehow...

  • Moving the mailbox database copy from one exchange server to another exchange server 2010 DAG

    Hello Team
is it possible to the move the passive copy of database and logs from one server to another exchange server in the same DAG with out removing  and deleting the mailbox database copies in exchange 2010
    normaly procedure is
Remove the mailbox database copies and manually delete the .edb files and logs from the physical location and re-add the mailbox database copy to the new server in the DAG.
is that any way to achieve to move the passive database copy to another exchange 2010 server in the same DAG ?

From your note, you appear to have a two-member DAG (with a server hosting your active database, and a second hosting the passive copy), and you want to move your passive database copy from the current passive server to another.  Your note
about what "the normal procedure is" isn't 100% correct - there are many ways to handle this task, and all can be considered "normal". Why not just add the third server to the DAG and
add a database copy on that third server?  Once it is fully seeded, you can remove the current passive copy.  This way, you never lose your redundancy.
Yes i can add the third and fourth  serve in DAG , but i cannot add the mailbox database copies to the 3rd and 4th mailbox server in DAG as am using RTM version of exchange 2010 which is allowing to have only 5 database inclding mailbox datbase copies
and also currently my lab setup is  two member dag (with a server hosting your active database,
and a second hosting the passive copy) in the same site named SITE A
and recently i have created new SITE B and included the 3rd and 4th DAG members in the same DAG
i want the  mailbox database copies from the mailbox server  database  in SITE A  to
Mailbox server database in  SITE B as  passive copy
That is why i want to move the mailbox database without deleting / removing it manually
    Hope you understand my situation!

  • My exchange mailbox database.edb is croupt and i have tried everything to get it back

I have now created a new mailbox called mailbox ver I want all users to use the new database

    Hi Gordon,
Agree with Ed Crowley's suggestion. I recommend you do the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
    1. Please move the mailboxes and log files to another directory.
    2. Mount database with the -Force parameter, it will create a new mailbox database.
    3. Move the mailboxes to the database.
What's more, here are some helpful threads for your reference.

  • New-DPMRecoveryOption CopyToFolder for an Exchange database backup

I'm trying to restore an Exchange database from DPM 2010 into the file system using powershell. I'm able to perform this action in the DPM GUI simply by selecting the "Copy to a Network Folder" option. When I try this in powershell I
fail when creating the recovery option object. Here's what I'm trying:
    $Pg = Get-DPMProtectionGroup –DPMServerName "DPM"
    $Ds = Get-DPMDatasource -ProtectionGroup $Pg[0]
    $RecoveryObject = Get-DPMRecoverypoint -Datasource $Ds[0] | Sort -Property RepresentedPointInTime -Descending | Select-Object -First 1
$RecoveryOption = New-DPMRecoveryOption -TargetServer "DPM" -RecoveryLocation CopyToFolder -RecoveryType Recover -TargetLocation "f:\test"
    Restore-DPMRecoverableItem -RecoverableItem $RecoveryObject -RecoveryOption $RecoveryOption
I get the following error on the New-DPMRecoveryOption command:
New-DPMRecoveryOption : Parameter set cannot be resolved using the specified named parameters.
I've tried a few dozen permutations of the available options, but I continue to get the same error message. I'm not seeing much documentation to explain all these options. Any guidance is appreciated.

  • Exchange Database full backup

I can see there is a automated backup for exchange databases. Can we change the schedule ? Its running on busy production time which i need to change ?
Have anyone try this ? How to change/view or modify ?
    UMESH DEUJA MCP,MCTS,MCSA,CCNA

    Hi umeshdeuja,
Which Backup method do you use?
Exchange 2013 supports only Exchange-aware, VSS-based backups. Exchange 2013 includes a plug-in for Windows Server Backup that enables you to make and restore VSS-based backups of Exchange data. To back up and restore Exchange 2013, you must use an Exchange-aware
application that supports the VSS writer for Exchange 2013, such as Windows Server Backup (with the VSS plug-in), Microsoft System Center 2012 - Data Protection Manager, or a third-party Exchange-aware VSS-based application.

  • Recovering production database after a loss to Prod database server and SAN

So I was asked this morning... can we recover our database if we lose both the database server and the SAN.
    A bit of information:
    Database: 10gR2
    Using ASM
    Backing up to ASM
    SAN is onsite
My initial response was of course we backup at least twice a day, and then once a week move those backups to an offsite location.
Then I started thinking about it some more. If we lose the SAN we have offsite backups of the entire SAN once a week so we could recover the SAN. If we were to lose the server we would lose the diskgroups where the backups are being stored.
So my question is… and don’t laugh for me never thinking about it before please lol, but do I need to backup the ASM instance in order to be able to restore ASM to be able to get to my backups which are stored inside ASM diskgroups? If so do I need to do this old school by shutting it down and backing it up since there isn’t any archiving going on? If not does anyone recommend a certain way of going about this type of thing?
    Thanks in advance
    Luke

    Hi Luke,
I think the answers to your questions are fluid, and can be stated as "it depends". If your SAN backup was created as a "snap", for example, a BCV on EMC systems, then likely you can get all your database in your ASM diskgroups. As long as all the disks in the diskgroups were snapped at the same time. Really, though, your best bet is always an RMAN backup which can be done even if your database is not in archive log mode. You can use rman to stop the database, restart it to mount mode and then back up the entire database, though I would suggest that if this is a production system that you do run in archive log mode.
    Cheers!

  • Is it possible to recover a Database in the following condition??

    Dear folks:
this question has confused me quite a while, and nobody I asked can answer it. Please kindly provide any hint to the following question:
Suppose I did a hot backup last night.
(use ALTER TABLESPACE BEGIN BACKUP;copy Datafiles;ALTER TABLESPACE END BACKUP;repeat and finish all those Tablespaces;ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO 'abc';)
Today, my hard drive crash and everything is gone!!
Now, the only thing I have are the Datafiles and Control file backed up last night (use the method above).
Is it possible, if Yes, how,to recover the DB in this condition??
Thank you very very much for your reply...
    Wayne

Wayne here you have the procedure to recreate the controlfile.
    CREATE CONTROLFILE
    Caution:
Oracle recommends that you perform a full backup of all files in the database before using this statement. For more information, see Oracle9i User-Managed Backup and Recovery Guide.
    Purpose
Use the CREATE CONTROLFILE statement to re-create a control file in one of the following cases:
All copies of your existing control files have been lost through media failure.
You want to change the name of the database.
You want to change the maximum number of redo log file groups, redo log file members, archived redo log files, datafiles, or instances that can concurrently have the database mounted and open.
    Note:
If it is necessary to use the CREATE CONTROLFILE statement, do not include in the DATAFILE clause any datafiles in temporary or read-only tablespaces. You can add these types of files to the database later.
An alternative to the CREATE CONTROLFILE statement is ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE, which generates a SQL script in the trace file to re-create the controlfile. If your database contains any read-only or temporary tablespaces, that SQL script will also contain all the necessary SQL statements to add those files back into the database
    Creating a Controlfile: Example
This statement re-creates a control file. In this statement, database demo was created with the WE8DEC character set. The example uses the word path where you would normally insert the path on your system to the appropriate Oracle directories.
    STARTUP NOMOUNT
CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE "demo" NORESETLOGS NOARCHIVELOG
    MAXLOGFILES 32
    MAXLOGMEMBERS 2
    MAXDATAFILES 32
    MAXINSTANCES 1
    MAXLOGHISTORY 449
    LOGFILE
    GROUP 1 '/path/oracle/dbs/t_log1.f' SIZE 500K,
    GROUP 2 '/path/oracle/dbs/t_log2.f' SIZE 500K
    # STANDBY LOGFILE
    DATAFILE

  • Import Exchange 2010 Mailbox Database .edb into Exchange 2013

My Exchange 2010 server recently crashed I am in the process of setting up a new 2013 server. Is it possible to import the .edb file from my old server to the new server to recover the mailboxes?

    Hi sapper,
    Thank you for your question.
We could not mount the database to new server simply, because all services are still on Exchange 2010. So we could refer to the following link:
Perform disaster recovery by the following link:

Migrate Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 by the following link:

    Hello,
There are so many third party software available in Web that can easily fix your Exchange Database issues, you can check out such  a software from here http://www.exchangerecoverytools.org . By using this software (Kernel for Exchange Server Recovery),
you can immediately repair and convert damaged EDB to PST files.

  • Recover mails from Exchange 2010 EDB File

    Hi,
We had a issue with our Exchange 2010 and had to restore to a different server.
There Is some mails that went missing.
i Need to restore from another backup but cant drop the existing mailboxes.
So i was thinking of exporting mailboxes with issues to PST files and import on users outlook to sync or if i can merge the mailboxed with EDB file....
Exporting to pst would prob be safer...
    Thanks

I have been trying to migrate several databases from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. The migration started successfully, and many of the mailboxes moved successfully (about 70). The remaining mailboxes, failed. Looking deeper, we found a few issues; The

All of the issues listed above have been corrected, and all of the databases are mounted. Users are able to send and receive mail, but I can not migrate mail using the Migration Batch utility.
The destination server is a Hyper-V Guest running Server 2012, SP1, and Exchange 2013
The Source Server is Running Exchange 2007.
I have tried doing a test move to another destination server that is also Server 2012, and Exchange 2013, and the migration also failed.
I would appreciate any help you can give me!
    Thanks,

  • Adding user to the oracle database using database link - is it possible?

Hi, i wolud like to manage my databases using one client. I easilly operate on my distriubuted tables but i have problem with creating users in distribiuted database. Is it possible to create users in distributed database using database links? or it have to be done locally using some stored procedures or sth similar?

The SQL syntax of the CREATE USER statement doesn't support DB links, the only way to do it would be with stored procedures. There might be an Oracle SP for that or for generic remote execution of SQL, but I'm not familiar with such.

  • Restore exchange 2010 mailbox from database and restore the mailbox to pst file

    Hello,
I'm running exchange 2010Sp2 rollup5 ver2, the mailbox database in question is in a DAG.  The databases are being backed up by commvault.
So, I received a request to restore a couple mailboxes from 10 days ago and export the mailbox to PST file for archiving.
How would you go about the restore.  I'm thinking the database needs to be offline, so I don't mistakenly overwrite my production databases.
Where should backup guy restore the database/log file (completely separate server from my mailbox servers?)
Once database/logs are restored, what is the procedure to make the mailboxes visible
Once the mailboxes are visible, what is best way to restore one to a PST file?
thanks in advance for all your help.

    Hi
For DB Restores with commvault you have to reed the product documantation.
The Database must not be offline.
I would recommend to try the following steps:
    1. Create Recovery DB on Exchange
    http://terenceluk.blogspot.ch/2013/06/restoring-mailbox-from-exchange-2010.html
    2. Restore to this Recvovery DB from Commvault
    (Commvault Administration Guide)
    http://documentation.commvault.com/hds/release_9_0_0/books_online_1/english_us/pdf/exchange_db_admin.pdf
    3. Restore to a temporary Mailbox and take a PST
    Restore Mailbox from Recovery Database

Create the PST with Outlook or Exchange Powershell Export Requests

We are migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.  We have installed the Exchange 2013 but it only has a couple of mailboxes on this server, all the mailboxes are still on the Exchange 2010 server.
I have run a Windows Backup of the Exchange 2013 but I am still seeing a ton a log files in the mailbox folder.
Also the database file is only about 1.1 GB but the backup is now 40 GB.
Is there something that can be done to truncate these logs and make the backup smaller?

    Hi ,
1.Does the full backup completed successfully ?
2.what about the status for the below mentioned command ? Does the mailbox database headers updated with the latest time and date ?
    Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | ft name,*full* -au
3.Just check the application event logs for the event id
2046  and that should state that the log truncation for the mailbox databases has been initiated or not.
4.Before initiating the backup just make the exchange writer is not on error.
    vssadmin list writers
In case if it on error state ,please restart the Microsoft exchange replication service and check the exchange writers status again by using the above mentioned command.

    Hi,
I tried to manually seed the mailbox database copy via exchange shell by run this command
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy –Identity “DB_name\Server” -sourceserver "Name Server" –DeleteExistingFiles.
However, i got the error message whereas shown below.
A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'identity'.
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy], ParameterBindingException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy
        + PSComputerName        : XXXX.abc.XXX
    Any ideas?

I hope database is in suspended state and not in failed state.
Make sure EMS is running As Administrator.
