Recover from failed migration

How would I recover from a failed migration if I have to go back to Netware? In the old days, I used TID 10055225, but that seems to be out of date. It would also be helpful in my test environment so I can start a new Transfer ID test. Thanks.

I'm getting ready to do another test, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for it. Some of the documentation is a bit confusing, eg, back up edir on the target server. Since I'm doing an ID transfer and the target does not have a replica installed, what would I be backing up?
Also, if anyone can point me to docs about doing a transfer id of cluster nodes, I'd appreciate it. I've found docs on migration and docs on rolling clusters, but that only seems to apply if I'm not doing an ID transfer.

Yes. Drop the table and restart the job.

  • How can I get my Original iPhone to Recover from failed attempt to upgrade?

I have a useless iPhone right now. It has been trying to recover for 90 minutes. For the last hour my PC has a "Verifying iPhone software" dialog box while the phone has a picture of a USB plug and an iTunes logo. Anyone know how to get my phone back?

If the condition persists (after trying Jason L's excellent suggestions) try installing the latest iTunes on another system and give it another go. Don't forget to use the FULL POWER USB ports, and make sure the systems Power Saving functions are disable for the duration of the upgrade. This worked for me.
Mine was "bricked" also and consistently failed/hung at the "verifying..." box on my primary notebook (even though I had updated iTunes and rebooted prior to my the 2.1 > 2.2 attempt.)
I think my upgrade hosed up because I was using the "front" USB ports, and/(or?) I forgot to turn off my Power Saving settings so the USB ports were shut off when I walked away and my machine went into "standby." Not sure which. GOOD LUCK!

  • How to recover from failed 12c agent deployment

    Greetings,
I am in the process of upgrading to OEM 12c using the 2-System method and I am slowly making progress. Using the OEM 12c Upgrade Console I was able to get the Deploymnet/Configuration step to succeed but the Check Agent Readiness Step failed. I found the error in the <Agent_Instance_Home>/sysman/log/gcagent.log file on the target machine - ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor.
Once I resolve that is it simply a matter of going to the Upgrade Console -> Deploy and Configure Agents page, select the cleanup failed deployments tab and go from there or is there something else I must do. I haven't been able to find specific instructions on how to proceed in such a situation.
    Thank you.
    Bill Wagman

    Hi Bill,
Yes your understanding is correct, just slect the option " cleanup failed deployments " while doing the agent deployment and it will take care of everything.
I also see that you have posted few queries in the forum about EM upgrade , i suggest you open an SR with oracle support , so that they can guide you through the upgrade process and help you in case of any issues. In case you have already opened an SR with support then pls ignore this suggestion. :)

  • Best way to recover from incorrect migration

Let me start out by saying that we know we did things incorrectly, and that "doing it over again the right way" isn't the advice we're looking for in this discussion.
    Here's the situation:
Existing database instance (A) is Oracle 10g on AIX.
New database instance (B) is Oracle 11g on Solaris.
We exported our schema from A and imported it into B.
Unfortunately, about 12 tables in the schema were versioned using Workspace Manager in the 10g instance, but no data from WMSYS was exported.
So we have a situation where we have MyTable_LT tables containing rows, but the MyTable views are reporting 0 rows. User_WM_Versioned_Tables reports 0 rows.
It would be perfectly OK with us if we could "unversion" the tables in the new instance, and start again.
Is there a way to determine which rows in the _LT tables are belonging to the LIVE workspace?
Alternatively, is there a way to export/import the metadata from WMSYS in instance A into instance B?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Ben -
Thank you - that is very helpful. Your first solution looked like it would be best.
Yesterday I looked at obtaining the LIVE version data from the source DB instance, but the drift in data content since the time the original export was done meant that the data refresh would have been fraught with risk, just as you identified.
I convinced the powers-that-be that a do-over of the full export/import was the best way to go, however, this time we first un-versioned the tables in the source DB.
I intend to study the documentation for how best to perform this process if we *did* want to retain all the workspaces and versioned data, but can I beg your indulgence and ask you what you would recommend?
Assuming a clean install of Oracle 11g (complete with WMSYS) as the destination, would it be appropriate to:
    drop the WMSYS schema in the destination;
    export the MY_SCHEMA and WMSYS from the source;
    import into the destination
upgrade the WMSYS in the destination from 10g to 11g
Is this the basic process, or am I missing something important?
    Thanks,
    - Colin

  • How to recover from failed CSA MC 6 install

    Hi,
I've been trying to install CSA MC 6 on a client's HP DL380, after each install the server does not boot.
We can get into Safe Mode after a few reboots but I don't currently have any log files as the client has rebuilt the server.
Does anybody have any experience of this? How did you recover the server?Does uninstalling the CSA Agent in Safe Mode make the server bootable?
I have tested on a DL380 G3 in the lab but the production version is G3 and I think there may be a conflict with the network cards and I'm unlikely to be allowed to use different hardware.
    Any help much appreciated!!

    Hi,
Yes the installation completes but when the server reboots it is not possible to log in. The error message states that either the user does not have the correct security privileges or the user profile is corrupt. This happens for any user that tries to log in.
When I try to uninstall the CSA Agent before the reboot it won't allow me as the installer is still running at this point.
In safe mode the event logs show that the server service is having a problem.
Also the same build works on a G3 DL380.
Cisco haven't seen this issue before so it's with the developers at the moment.

  • How to recover from failed ipsw restore

I tried to downgrade my iPod Touch (2nd gen.) to 3.1.3 in order to have a device to test an App I'm developing with the older OS before submitting it to the App Store.
The downgrade failed, with "device not eligible for requested build". But apparently it only realized this after totally wiping the iPod. All that appears on the screen is a USB plug, an arrow, and an iTunes logo.
OK, so I'm supposed to plug it into iTunes. Great, I did. But iTunes doesn't recognize that there's anything connected to it. Neither does XCode. So how do I install some version (any version) of iOS so I can use the iPod again?
I can't even use Apple's Express Lane support, because I can't get the device to tell me its ID if iTunes won't recognize it.

Sorry, this was easy to fix. All I had to do was exit and restart iTunes. Then it recognized the iPod in recovery mode.
It hadn't occurred to me that restarting iTunes could help. I'd tried power cycling the iPod, connecting and disconnecting the USB cable, and holding down the Home button while connecting the cable. None of that did any good.

    Hi All,
I am installing CCM 8.6.1 on an MCS7835I3 platform. The platform came with CCM 8.6.1 preloaded on the harddrive. During the installation linux detected some compenents like NIC, Raid, and USB.
then after checking some components i face below error
"The installtion has failed and must be restarted to recover from the faliure.
You may dump diagnostic information at this time to a USB storage key. Would you like to dump diagnostic information"
I am try to figure out what is causing this message.
    Pls help me!!

    Hi
It seems to me that your server did not begin the CUCM installation. If you already have pre-loaded CUCM media in the server hard disk then you should first check the boot sequence on the server. Make sure that the first option is the hard disk.
    Once confirmed, restart the server.
If you still face the issue, then i suggest that you install CUCM from CD.
Below is the installation document. Do check the server compatibility and hardware requirements.

  • Recover from a failed Sound.load()

I've written a MP3 player for podcasts, and I am using the
Sound.load() to load the MP3 file from a URL. From time to time,
the download fails ... and an error occurs.
I am able to catch the error just fine ... but now what? How
do I restart the load? Or how do I recover from the failed
    download?
Right now, I start the load, and also begin to play the sound
to the user ... so they can begin to listen. In some cases I have
seen the download of a 60 minute podcast fail at - maybe - 43:29.
So they are listening, and might be 10-15 minutes in ... I catch
the error ... and now what?
I can't seem to find any documentation on what to do at this
    point ...

You could use a custom event. In your error handling code
dispatch your custom event, passing in something, like maybe the
path to file to be loaded, then try to reload. Everytime it fails
    you will retry.

  • Migrating oracle 9i from Fail safe to Oracle RAC

We are planning to migrate our Oracle 9i database from Fail safe to Oracle RAC. Does anybody has any experience to share? Where can I find the documentation about this?
    Regards

FailSafe Cluster and RAC are completely different architectures, there's no direct migration path. Export the 9i database and import into a fresh RAC database.
At the same time move to 11gR2.

  • How to Recover from last failed execution by using exported scripts

I have exported a Data Services batch job to  unix scripts of job_batch.sh. The Enable Recovery option is selected when the job was exported. After I run the scripts (./job_batch.sh) and the job failed, I only can rerun it again using Recover-from-last-failed-execution option at Management Console.
Is it a way to rerun the job from last failed execution again from the scripts itself, not going through Management Console? Or have to rerun the scripts with any unix option to enable it to run from failed stage?
    Thank you

In our world a recovery is done manually, hence no automatism there. In fact, there is some code that checks if the last run was unsuccessful and only in that case the Management Consol allows to add the "recover from last failed execution point".
Having said that, adding the command line property -Cr manually always, does work as Manoy explained.

  • Urgent solution to this problem "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from timeout failed"

    Hi wonderful people at HP,
I would be glad if you can solve this problem in my system. I want this to be urgent enough because I am graduating by March 1st 2011 and I want many things to be completed on my system.
I have previously purchased warranty with hp for three times for tune out service, software and hardware help but nothing has been materialized, I am sorry to say but I just lost my money.
My system, from the time of purchase, had the same persistent problem of overheating and also heavy noise, I told this to several people of HP but they never seem to respond properly. In fact my friend had a similiar problem in DELL and they responded promptly and sent him a new computer system. I don't know what to do. It will be ok if my system can function for one more month. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL TO YOU IF YOU CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

    Re your 116 BSOD...
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

  • Can't recover from sleep sometimes: "Oh no! Something has gone wrong!"

I'm running gdm + gnome-shell (force fallback mode) on a Thinkpad W520 with intel integrated graphics only (via bios setting, so no optimus). Once a week or so, my Laptop fails to go to sleep properly and to recover from it.
It basically works like this, normally when I close the lid, the sleep LED blinks a couple of times, and then stays on (and you can hear the fan turn off). When sending the laptop to sleep fails, the led blinks indefinitely (like, all night, if you let it), the fan keeps running as well.
Once you open the lid again, you are greeted with the message "ACPI: Unable to dock!" on a black screen. This happens when successfully recovering from sleep mode as well, though.
Shortly afterwards, instead of seeing a password prompt, you see this:
    http://wocares.com/host/images/516726_sleeperr1.jpg
I tried to search the problem but couldn't find anything that was quite like my problem. I did however find someone saying the ~/.xsession-errors file could contain clues. So here is that:

  • Recovering from a network drive

    Hey all
I've been successfully using Time machine on a network drive (using "defaults write com.apple.systempreferences TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1"
in a console). Unfortunately, my HDD broke and apple support had to install a new one.
Now, how do I restore from that network drive again? I have a freshly installed and fully updated Leopard already and would like to just restore the users' settings. But, the network drive isn't visible in the migration assistant.
I even tried to copy the network drive's content to a firewire disc... still nothin visible.
    What else can I do?
    Thanks a million!!!
    Bernhard

Yes, I can mount the image and thus have access to all revisions stored by time machine. Maybe I could use rsync to get the data back in place? My hope was to make time machine recognize the image on the (now) local drive and recover from there... is that possible?
I know that it's unsupported to use time machine on a nas, but - for me - running time machine on a local hdd just doesn't make much sense (I want multiple computers to do their backup to the same drive and I also want to separate the backup drive from the original drives physically). I also don't see why this should be so difficult to implement (Vista can do it btw... :-)), unless, of course, Apple wants to sell its time capsules...
Anyway, I didn't want to complain, I would just like to get my data back.
    Thanks for your help!
    Bernhard
