Recover HP media center software

"Klutz here" deleted media center icon from startup menu....apparently it deleted all links...alas...recovery of media center software says ..." only allowed 'one' recovery and that was back in 2012"  I have not tried this recovery before , but date coincides approximately when this laptop was purchased and installed.  Anyway...can the forum direct me to the method tu  reload the WEBCAM, etc in the media center??

  • Mini with Eyetv in Media Center software

What Media Center Software Works with Eyetv Hybrid from 2011

Let me correct some info, and add some.  The tuner is correct, but it is the NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS card that was replaced because of the noisy fans.
I also see on HP's website that this particular computer has a BIOS update that is supposed to correct a problem of "no audio with HDMI" for the GeForce 9500 GS card.  I tried downloading and installing it, but the installation was stopped becuase my "system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update."  I have no idea what possible requirements I'm missing, though!
That BIOS update is for Ver 62.94.1F.00.26.  I have no idea what the current version of the BIOS is, and several chats with HP technical support have not helped at all (they haven't even told me how to find the current BIOS version, which seems inexcusable).
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate the help.
    Thanks,

  • I prefer Windows Media Center (but I would like to use Front Row)

This is a plea to Apple that they would update Front Row with some more functionalities!
I'm using my Mac mini as a HTPC and it's doing it's job absolutely great - thanks to Windows Media Center.... Awwww, I wish I didn't have to write that
Well, it's all about functionality and at that point, I have the conviction that WMC is really kicking FR's a**. I really don't get why Apple has chosen to put a media center software (don't know if I dare to call it that) in their OS which lacks of so many important functions.
One of the important things for me, in a media center software, is support for TV tuners, and guess what... Windows Media Center has this, but there's no support in Front Row.
I would also like to see more integration with iTunes, so that I can use the Remote app on my iPhone to control the music in FR and so it's possible to use the party function (also with the Remote app, cause that works really great).
This is only some of the functionalities I miss in Front Row, but I do hope that Apple will consider those so I can get rid of Windows from my machine.
    //Cheers

Best way to convey your wishes to Apple is to send them feedback.

  • Open source Media Center Deluxe 3?

The software is really terrible, it doesn't even start most of the time.  It would be great if the MSI team would open source the code, or at least publish the checked (debug) build of the product with private symbols.  I would at least like to see the code to control the lcd panel so I could plug it into some other player.  And the remote controller code too.
It's not like MSI is making money on their software (that doesn't usually work), and there are probably plenty of developers out there in the community that would be interested in improving their product for free.

msi don't develop the media center software, it is a rebranded version of InterVideo's HomeTheater software, just like MSIPVS is WinDVR
and as intervideo's software is commercial, i really can't see them releasing the source code for it

  • MSI MEDIA CENTER

I'm looking for the msi media center software. Can anyone out there tell me how and where can I get it?

    Hello : )
    I have the same problem : (
I have FX5200 TDR128 with remote control, and AverTV card.
I would like to know HOW can I watch TV by MEDIA CENTER (with remote) and using my existing TV card.

  • Poor OTA reception with Windows 7 Media Center but fine with other software and my TV

I installed a new tuner (ASUS EHD3-100 dual ATSC tuners) into my Inspiron 518 (7 Enterprise, C2Q 2.4GHz, 3GB RAM, 640GB HDD, Radeon 5450 512MB, most recent drivers and updates installed).  Tried to set up the tuner in windows 7 media
center and had to add the tuners manually.  It found all the stations I was looking for but many had only one red bar for signal strength.  If the stars line up correctly I can watch the stations with one red bar but most of the time I get an error
message.  I even have one station with all green bars but Media Center still gives me an error when I try to watch that station.
I then decided to use the software that came with my tuner (ARCsoft Total Media).  All stations came in with a strong signal.
The signal used in both situations came directly (I unplugged the cable from my TV and plugged it into the tuner) from an antenna in my attic that has been connected to my TV (Pioneer PDP-4280) which shows a signal strength of ~60% plus for all stations.
Pretty sure it's not a signal strength or quality issue because everything works fine with the TV and with Total Media.
Would rather use Media Center because it seems easier to navigate and is easier on the eyes.
Any ideas on how to get the stations with only one red bar of signal strength working in Media Center?

Have you ran the troubleshooter yet?
If you're having trouble setting up your TV signal, try using the Set up TV tuner troubleshooter to automatically find and fix some common problems.
Open the Set up TV tuner troubleshooter by clicking the Start button
and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click
Troubleshooting. In the left pane, click View all, and then click
    Set up TV tuner.
    Notes
During the setup process, you might be asked to install a program called
PlayReady. PlayReady allows you to play protected, premium TV content from your service provider in Media Center.
If you receive an error while setting up your TV tuner—for example, a download error, or an error during PlayReady installation—you might need to go through the entire setup process again in order for your TV signal to work properly.

  • Windows Media Center - wont launch...due to Software Restriction Policy???

    Current system:
Windows Vista x64 Ultimate RETAIL installed onto clean system.
    UAC disabled
Using full administrator account w/ no restrictions
    Problem:
Anytime I attempt to launch Windows Media Center or Media Center Extender I receive the following popup error and the program does not attempt to to even start:
    Error:
    [Windows Media Center
"Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy.  For more information contact your system administrator."
    Summary:
When I initialy installed the OS, this problem did not exist.  I was able to launch WMC just fine.  Only after a couple month of reinstalling necessary base applications do I now get this error.  My family cannot even use it as an extender for the XBOX360 anymore.
From what i can tell there are a lot of people with this issue and NO SOLUTION from MS as yet.  I did see in one post that someone else had this error and was able to correct it by setting WMC as the default application in "Default Programs --> Set Program Access and Computer Defaults"  This did not work for me at all.  At this point I am at a complete loss.  Any insight would be appreciated.

For Windows 8 here was the solution that FIXED it for us:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/set-program-access-computer-defaults
To start, open the Set Program access and computer defaults page:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.)
Enter control panel in the search box, and then tap or click Control
    Panel.
    Under View by:, select Large
Icons, and then tap or click Default Programs.
Tap or click Set program access and computer defaults.
    Set program access
If you want to make a program inaccessible without uninstalling it, you can set it so it doesn't appear where programs are typically listed.
On the Set Program access and computer defaults page, under Choose
a configuration, tap or click Custom.
Clear the Enable access to this program check box next to the programs you want to make inaccessible,
and then tap or click OK.

  • Media Center Deluxe II prototype software?

    Hi,
A few days ago I got the idea to build a media center PC. After scanning the market I decided to buy the MSI FX5600FX-VTD128 VGA board.
Part of my motivation for choosing this product was the included remote controller and MSI Media Center Deluxe II software.
Now after having installed this software and played with it for a short time, my worst fear was confirmed. Yet again a piece of poorly designed software. Crashes, non intuitive user interface, lack of compatibility with some of my video files and lack of configurability were my first findings after only a few minutes of use. And what a horrible remote controller??? I can't figure out why I need that text label saying "MSI Foreign Language Machine". Next to the label are two buttons for selecting FM and DVD. Can anybody explain why I need these two extra buttons when I already have the FM and DVD buttons further down on the remote controller layout???
Yes, I can go on and on with what I experienced during minutes of use. Everything is just not well thought about and reminds me about what I see in very early stages of consumer electronics R&D (I work in that business).
The Media Center Deluxe II is a piece of prototype software done without professionally skilled people in user interface design.
But I liked the idea of this bundled software, so please hire a professional UI designer, a professional ID company and implement some quality code...before releasing version III. And let people upgrade for free.
About the FX5600XT display board: IT'S GREAT :-)

  • No compatability with older printer hardware/software and no windows media center

What can I say except that Microsoft is the only company that releases an inferior product after years of having a great product. Windows 8.1 and 8 would be fine if it were compatible with old hardware i.e. printers and had Windows Media Center. This is
now a very bare bones product. I certainly won't be paying the $129 price tag for Windows Pro 8.1 pack, just to get media center - not when there's so many free alternatives around for that. In future, don't purchase a photo quality printer that costs a fortune.
Buy a nasty cheap one with inexpensive cartridges, as eventually you won't be able to install the older software for your far superior printer i.e. Epson stylus photo 1270.  Sounds like a collusion with both Microsoft and Printer manufacturers to get
folk purchasing hardware they don't want or need, while they're older hardware works just fine - it's the new operating systems that don't. No thank you.

    Hi,
Please understand that Microsoft's partners have shared clear concerns over the costs associated with codec licensing for traditional media playback, especially as Windows 8 enables an unprecedented variety of form factors. Windows has addressed these concerns
in the past by limiting availability of these experiences to specialized “media” or “premium” editions.
That's why the Media center is separated for additional cost.
For the compatibility thing about older device, you can use the compatible mode to install the related driver on Windows 8 and 8.1 to get it work.

  • My HP Media Center PC m1050y freezes all the time. Can't recover

I upgraded my Media center m1050y from XP to Windows 7 with a lot of difficulty. From the beginning the system froze constantly even in Safe Mode. After several reboots the system would not restart. Attempted recovery with the installation disc but the system either freezes during this process or it tells me that it cannot t recover. I have tried this many (I meam many) times and in the process I got a few blue screens, bios beeps and even a colorful quilt pattern. I reinstalled windows 7 (again with a lot of trouble) and I am getting the same response.  I know that this is an old PC, the latest BIOS is dated 2006, maybe upgrading to Windows 7 was a loosing propostion?  Or maybe there is something  wrong with the hardware? Any suggestions will be greatrly appreciated.

You may want to take a look at this document about upgrading to Windows 7.  Your post had a question or two about hardware and BIOS requirements etc.  There might be some information that will help you here:

  • MSI Media Center Deluxe Software!!

I'm     as I can't figure out how to manually adjust the tv tuning within the MSI Media Center on a 180 I've built for a friend. Is there a way? I know it's a crap suite but I want the end user to be able to use it straight away.
Cheers in advance for any help.

So do I, I don't find any way to tune TV channels, only a crappy autosearch which forget 2 channels and create one which doesn't exist!
If anyone find the tip (windows registry or anything else) please post it!
Relish you may give a try to mediaportal ;-)

  • Recovering Downloads not in Windows Media Center

I download an item and when I try to open it, it goes to Windows Media Center and I can not find it their or any other downloads I have.
I am using Windows 7 and this did not happen in XP - Why?
How can I open my downloads without Windows Media Center?
    Thanks for your help
    Leon

    Hi Leon,
If you are using Internet Explorer, when you click to download a file, choose Save when the download window appears.  This will then open another window showing you where the file is going to be saved.  If you are happy with this, click Ok.  When the download has finished, click Open Folder to go straight to where your file is.
    Hope this helps.

RE: HP XP Media Center 2005 Ed will not boot from HP System Restore CD's.
The following instructions about  the "Code Purple" error FAILED. Error is still present.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
***PLAIN ENGLISH QUICK AND EASY FIX FOR ALL SYSTEMS****
***Windows 7 code purple or Windows Vista code purple***
With the code purple error on the screen, press shift+f10 (the shift key and the F10  key (at the top of the keyboard) at the same time) to open a little screen called a  command prompt. (So, you get a little black screen with white text that says something  about your Windows verison first and a little ways down you'll see "C:\>".   It's all  ready for you to start typing.)
Type the following line, just as you see it here...
    notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd
so it will look like this
    C:\>notepad C:\hp\bin\checkdmi\checkdmi.cmd
    Press Enter.
You will see the text for the file listed in a window using a simple text editor.
Go to the beginning of the text. Press enter to make a space. Type this...
    goto cleanup
So, whatever comes after, the first line looks like this...
    goto cleanup
Save the file and exit notepad and restart your PC. You are good to go.

    RESULT: Same error and problem.
So, NOW THE SCENARIO IS THIS...[ And A CHALLANGE TO ALL HP Software EXPERTS]
