is this when take backup copy to datafile and i have incremental backup
when corruption occurs i write this command
instead of restore and recovery only this command is make the restore and applay incremental backup ???
MANY THANKS

there are some recovery scenarios.
1- If you lost all datafiles
SQL> startup mount;
RMAN> restore database;
RMAN> recover database;
SQL> alter database open;
2- if you lost a tablespace
SQL> alter tablespace users offline;
RMAN> restore tablespace users;
RMAN> recover tablespace users;
SQL> alter tablespace users online;
if you can not offline tablespace then
$ sqlplus “/ as sysdba”
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup mount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> restore tablespace users;
RMAN> recover tablespace users;
SQL> alter database open;
3- if you lost a datafile
SQL> alter database datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf' offline;
RMAN> restore datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf'
RMAN> recover datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf'
SQL> alter database datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf' online;
if you cannot offline datafile then
$ sqlplus “/ as sysdba”
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup mount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> restore datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf';
RMAN> recover datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf';
SQL> alter database open;
4- if you lost your controlfile
$ sqlplus “/ as sysdba”
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup nomount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> set dbid = 3970640872;
RMAN> restore controlfile;
SQL> alter database mount;
SQL> alter database open;
you will receive an error ORA-01589 when you open database
ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open
In this situation you must do;
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup mount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> recover database;
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
RMAN> reset database;
if you open database with resetlogs, SCN number will be zero. In this situation all previous backups will be invalid. You must full backup.
5- May be a special situation. You need to incomplete recovery.
A. Time-Based incomplete recovery;
$ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup mount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> restore database until time "to_date('06/05/11 12:0:00','DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS')";
RMAN> recover database until time "to_date('06/05/11 12:0:00','DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS')";
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
B. SCN-Based incomplete recovery;
$ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup mount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> restore database until scn 1000;
RMAN> recover database until scn 1000;
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
C. archive log sequence based incomplete recovery;
$ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
SQL> shutdown abort;
SQL> startup mount;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> restore database until sequence 9923;
RMAN> recover database until sequence 9923;
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
6- if you need some archive logs in your backup
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN> restore ARCHIVELOG FROM TIME 'SYSDATE-1' UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE';
Or
RMAN> restore ARCHIVELOG FROM TIME "to_date('07/11/05 00:00:01','MM/DD/YY HH24:MI:SS')
UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE';
7- if your data block is corrupted you will receive an error below.
Hata:
ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 8, block # 13)
ORA-01110: data file 8: '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf'
for recover data block;
$ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
RMAN>blockrecover datafile 8 block 13;
For Block-Level Media Recovery - Concept & Example (Doc ID 144911.1)
8- if you have a image copy backup and your datafile number 2 has problems then you can switch datafile number2 to image copy.
RMAN>sql ‘alter database datafile 2 offline’;
RMAN>switch datafile 2 to copy;
RMAN>recover datafile 2;
RMAN>sql ‘alter database datafile 2 online’;

    Hello;
    I read your post and here's the thoughts that came to mind : ( my largest concern is you might restore something that damages your current system )
    1. So you want to restore the whole DB back to 12/06/2012 to get some tablespaces from then right?
    2. Are you restoring to a different system?
    3. How did you start the database ( NOMOUNT, MOUNT )
    4. If you are restoring the whole DB back to 12/06/2012 how did you restore the control file?
    5. Your command shows :
    restore tablespace SYSTEM,UNDO_GEN01,UNDO_GEN02,TAB_80K_GENCON,TAB_25M_GENCON;
    COMMENT : Generally I use recover tablespace for point in time recovery and use an auxilary destination.
    Meaning I don't use restore at all, in fact using restore may cause an issue.
    SUMMARY : I don't see how this will work as is.
    It seems you want data from five tablespaces from about six months ago including the SYSTEM tablespace.
    This is an Incomplete Recovery. I believe I would rethink this completely.
    Give the time that has past I would consider restoring the whole database to a different server where cannot damage anything.
    Once this is done I would decide how to get the data I need.
    Or I would check for a daily export file and recover the tablespace data that way.
    So you have some good details on your question but it seems the plan is either missing something or you need to add a few more details.
    Example
    I'm recovering old tablespaces into a test system.
    Here's how I'm not damaging my current production system.
    I don't have an export from that date.
    So take a step back and either rethink or give a few more details on how this is safe.
    Best Regards

    :Please make sure that you read the docs before attempting to create issues as most of the issues are very well documented in the docs. For the recovery of the System tablespace, you need to have a backup and if you have only one datafile in the system tablespace or first dataflie of the System tablespace is lost, you can't get it through the create datafile clause.

    I don't think that you can roll back image copies because each time the whole image copy is changed with new records and I haven't seen such option

  • Steps to create the standby with Hot Backup........?????

    Hi All
    I am planning to create the Physical standby with Hot backup ....
    Can anyboby give me the link/steps which explains how to do this?
    Thanks
    Gagan

    To copy the file from the primary, you can use RMAN, or manual hot backup copy with begin backup and end backup mode.
    You can read the doc about creation of standby database :

    Photos in my from my iPhone have the same numbering as photos from my digital camera.  They all go into iPhoto fine but when I backup to my ext hard drive it will only save one with the name IMG 1002 and I have two separate images both with that name.  How do I get them all to save on my ext hard drive and hope do I prevent this numbering overlap in the future?  I'm really hoping I don't have to go through and manually rename every single picture.  Thanks.

    How are you backing up the photos?  The best way is to backup the library itself as that will preserve your organizational efforts as well as all metadata like keywords, titles, faces, places, books, etc.
    You can use a backup application that does incremental backups.  Thus only the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups just copy those files that are new or changed. I use Synk Pro.  The lower cost version, Synk, will do the same job.  Other similar apps can be found at MacUpdate.com.
    OR: upload your camera to a folder on the Desktop. There you can rename the files to something that is more informative than just the file name.  I use the date (international format) along with a brief desc: 2007-1-20-adian1stbday-001.jpg.  File renaming apps can also be found at MacUpdate.com.  Also you can give the folder an informatve name which will become the Event name when you import the folder of photos into iPhoto.

    16bit? Pixels extending beyond the canvas? (from a crop with delete unused pixels turn off).  Have you previously been saving PSD files?
    IME you sometimes have to tell Photoshop that the first save of a session is JPG, and it remembers from there on.  The way to 'tell' Photoshop that JPG, or PDF, or PNG etc are now your preferred format is to Ctrl (Cmd) click on that format in the Save As drop down list.  So long as the file does not have parameters that your chosen format does not support, then this should work for you.
    [EDIT]  Just noticed that you did include 'Crop' in the subject line.  Do you have 'Delete cropped pixels' checked?

    Is it possible to recover my data from iCloud backup without working wifi? I have as many other upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2 with the result that the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth no longer works. However, i can connect to iTunes via cable but there is wrong version of backup.

    Answer is no.
    If you want the iCloud backup you have to have n internet connection, thus WiFi.
    The not working WiFi has happened with quite a number of users.
    It is not exactly clear what is the cause but there are suggestions to clear it up:
    Some people have had success by removing an apostrophe from the iPhone name. If your iPhone is called something like “John’s iPhone” then this might work. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and change it to something with no apostrophe.
    Some people have reported success by putting the iPhone into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, but the problem may return.
    You could also try going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turn your iPhone off and on again.
    Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.
    Try backing up your iPhone and then restoring it. Check how to factory reset an iPhone for details.
    If nothing is working for you, try contacting Apple or take your iPhone into an Apple Store.
    Succes, Lex

  • How do I copy a TM backup to an external HDD with an existing TM backup (for another machine)?

    Hi,
    My question relates to the use of Time Machine for two different Macs ... I have two Macs: a MacBook Pro (ML) and an iMac (SL). I use Time Machine for both.
    Unfortunately, the external HDD (A) drive I use for the backup of my MacBook Pro is on the way out. I am now in a situation where I need to copy this Time Machine backup to another external HDD (B) which I use for the backup of my iMac.
    I have decided that I would like to use external HDD B for all future backups of both machines from now on. It is a 2Tb LaCie drive with one partition. Therefore, I would like to copy the Time Machine backup data from external HDD A to external HDD B. Since both TM files/directories have identical names, I am looking for some advice of how to do this without 'deactivating' any of the backups or corrupting them, or screwing with permissions.
    In case this is known to be problemmatic, would it be 'better practice' to partition the external 2Tb HDD drive into two partitions, then just use one partition for each backup? Is there an advantage/disadvantage to partitioning the drive? Will this approach make it 'less confusing for Time Machine' and reduce potential problems?
    Any advice would be great!
    Thanks,
    Mark.

    Don't bother trying to copy a TM backup file. Just connect the other good drive to your MBP and create a new full TM backup on that drive. I do suggest you create a separate partition on that good drive for each Mac you will be backing up to it.

  • Recover database until cancel using backup controlfile Fails with ORA-01547

    Hi
    First of all, I'm sorry for posting in this community as my issue doesn't have any thing to do with Rman, but I couldn't find any more relative Community to post in
    our System is Oracle EBS 11i and the OS on the production is AIX 5.2 / and the DR is 5.3 / DB version is 9i
    we have our Oracle ERP scheduled using crontab to take a database COLD backup daily using gtar -cvzf .
    yesterday I needed to clone the database only, so I used my usual method witch is
    1) on the source SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace as '<dest>/makecntrlfil.sql'
    then you can delete the Commented header and change the first command from
    "CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE <SOURCE> NORESETLOGS ..."
    TO
    CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE <TARGET> RESETLOGS <NO>ARCHIVELOG
    2) de-compress the tgz files
    3) on the target edit the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<source>.ora, $ORACLE_HOME/environment file
    4)run /ORACLE_HOME/appsutils/clone/bin/adcfgclone.prl
    5) delete old controlfiles
    6) on the database run the script you created on firs t step to create a new control fole
    7)recover database until cancel using backup controlfile
    8) alter database open resetlogs
    add new temp file system
    this way I used to do it
    but yesterday when trying to execute recover database it didn't work, and gave this error
    ORA-00279: change 6450277404 generated at 02/28/2013 02:47:56 needed for thread

    take in consideration that we are on archive log mode, but not using Rman or the archived Logs for backup and the sequence it needed ( 188462 ) is too old and already deleted on Production.

  • The creation of the shadow copy on the backup destination has failed. Detailed Error: The Volume Shadow Copy operation failed with the error 0x80042316

    When using Microsoft Backup on a Windows Server 2008 SP2 (not R2 - [Microsoft version 6.0.6002]) I get the error "The creation of the shadow copy on the backup destination has failed. Detailed Error: The Volume Shadow Copy operation failed with the
    error 0x80042316"
    The odd thing is that when I start the backup manually, it works fine. When  it runs automatically the error appears.
    When doing a SFC /scannow I do get errors that can't be corrected.
    Is there anything short of rebuilding this machine (It's a DC and the only one this office has) I can do to fix this?

    Hi,
    0x80042316 means "Another shadow copy creation is already in progress". This error could occur when another VSS instance is running.
    Is there any third party backup application installed? Try to uninstall it to see the result. And please also check if there is another backup schedule which causes the conflict.
    Meanwhile please provide the result of:
    vssadmin list providers
    vssadmin list writers
    Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and un-mark them if they provide no help. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact [email protected].
    Hi,
    I do have Crashplan ProE running. It started at 1900 and the Windows Backup starts at 2000. I have modified Crashplan not to start until 2300 to see if that helps.

  • Non-image files are not copied to the Backup Location

    I'm on Aperture 3.0.3... I just noticed that non-image files (e.g., WAV files) are not copied into the Backup Location, although they are copied into the main folder location during an import. Does anyone else see this behavior?

    Shawnsat,
    Yes you can still stream from the host computer, the knowledge base article that describes this is http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305098. If you are attempting to display Photos on Apple TV, they must be synced to the Apple TV, per knowledge base article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305139.
    Cheers,
    John
