I got locked out yesterday due to password expiration and had to recover the CLI "admin" password using the recovery DVD.
How can I disable this "stupid" feature from ISE?

There is no password expiration on the CLI. There is a default password aging set to 45 days for the GUI, you can disable this by going to Administration > Admin Access > Authentication > Password Policy > Password Lifetime.
If you are experiencing issues with the cli account then you need to raise this issue with TAC.

ISE 1.1.2.145 patch-3 and CLI password disable

I am running ISE 1.1.2.145 patch-3 on VMWare ESXi 4.1 The ISE is running fine without any issues.
During the initial setup of the ISE, I create an account called "admin" so that I can ssh into the ISE. According to Cisco, the CLI password does NOT expire and does NOT lock out. However, when I ssh into the ISE and "intentionally" entered the wrong password 5 times. After that, I can no longer ssh or console in the ISE with the "admin" account. The only way to fix this is to do "password recovery" with the DVD.
I notice the same issue with ISE version 1.1.1.268 patch-5 as well.
Is this a "known" issue with ISE or bug?

There looks like there was a bug fixed for this issue in 1.1.1, you may need to open a tac case and see if the bug has resurfaced.

SNMP process stops randomly due to an issue in netsnmp
The netsnmp daemon on Cisco ISE can halt, causing any SNMP monitoring of the Cisco ISE node to fail until the daemon is restarted. This issue has been observed in Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.1.
Workaround Remove all SNMP commands and re-add them to start the daemon again or restart the ISE node.

Cisco ISE CLI and GUI password expire

I had Cisco ISE version 1.1 i face a problem with the CLI and GUI password, as it expire and i can't login, i do the password reset using the ISE DVD,
i navigate to the ISE CLI, and do the following commands:
conf t
     password-policy
          no password-expiration-enable
and reset the GUI admin password, using the command:
     # application reset-passwd ise admin
from the ISE GUI i had remove the option for diable admin account after 45 days.
but after 60 days the password expire again.
so kindly advise what to check for this expire issue.

Yes, the last reply was more towards GUI password-mgmt because in maority of cases it happens with UI admin account. I need to know if you've restarted the ISE after disabling the expiration from the CLI because what I read few weeks ago in an internal defect that password policy configurations are not preserved on cli after restart so just to check could you please check the current settings on CLI w/ the help of show run | in password-policy.

How do I recover bookmarks and passwords after an O/S change, and the old programs are in a windows.old folder?

Recently, I had a non-recoverable crash of my Windows XP Pro system. I clean-installed Vista (would not allow an upgrade install), and it moved all of my settings and programs into a windows.old folder. I'd like to be able to recover my stored passwords (even if I have to manually re-enter) and my bookmarks for Firefox. I was running version 4 at the time of the O/S crash. ACS 5.4 How to change CLI password?

Anyone know how to change the ACS 5.4 CLI password?
I found the command "acs reset-password". But it seems to reset the GUI password instead of CLI password.

If you already know the current admin CLI password so to reset the password for the ACS CLI admin you'll have to use the "username" command.

The DVD is used to reset the password in situations where the password has been lost/forgotten.

If you are referring the Master Password that can be set in System Preferences>Security>FileVault, then see this thread:

As explained there, and for obvious security reasons, a new master password created in this fashion way will not unlock any pre-existing FileVault accounts. Resetting the master password is therefore only useful after you turn off FileVault in all existing accounts. You can then turn FileVault back on after the new master password is in place.

Phily. That is not try as reported by many users. Restoring from backup does restore the Restrictions Passcode
The following also states:

It appears that the Users Guide is misleading or it does not apple to the Restrictions Passcode.

Use a browser to log into your router. Navigate to the wifi settings and the passphrase will be there. The address of your router is manufacturer dependent but will be something like http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1.
If you can't log into your router for some reason you can reset it to factory defaults. Look in your router manual for instructions. Once reset to factory defaults the wifi pass phrase will be the one provided as default for your router model. Look in your router manual. You will then need to create a new pass phrase in your router wifi settings and then change the passphrase used in your wifi devices to match your newly created passphrase.

You cannot recover a password, otherwise it would not be secure. Could you explain the situation a little more, especially since your subject line refers to an article on update and restore alert messages. It sounds like you are saying there is an encrypted password on your backup file that you did not set...is that correct?

How to recover the admin password.

One of the setup options for vFDD is to enable SMTP and setup the SMTP email address. If this has been done, at the login screen user can click on the "Forgot Your Password" link. You will be prompted with a dialogue to enter your username and an email will be sent to that username to help you reset your password. This process works for System Admin account as well.
If you have not configured SMTP email, then you must reinstall vFDD.
